"With its trendy, lively atmosphere, colourful decor and pretty terrace at the front, De Basiliek has a decidedly convivial atmosphere. The tempting menu features fresh Mediterranean dishes full of generous flavours, with vegetables playing an important role. The chef draws on his culinary expertise to deliver exciting cuisine brimming with clever combinations. The impressive wine list proposes plenty of options by the glass and in half-bottles. Excellent value for money!" - Michelin Inspector

It was our 2nd time at De Basiliek and what should i say??? 1.5 year after our premiere we arrived at the restaurant and our fabulous waiter Glenn remembered us from our last visit and greeted us with a Cremant to celebrate our comeback. Ambiance is easygoing, service exquisit and not pretentious and the food still on a superb level. The tastes are so diverse and the way things are served still surprises the guest. The custom menu options are very cool and offer such a good value. We will definatley come back (and hope that Glenn still recognizes us next time 🥰) Thanks for having us and for making it the perfect dinner experience, Glenn. 🫰🏻

Went to celebrate our wedding anniversary on the recommendation of a friend. Overall I was disappointed with the choice of vegan/vegetarian options esp after prior consultation. The Spanish peppers were overcooked; saffron risotto only name sake as there was no taste. Enjoyed the artichoke and aubergine. Portions are rather small. The place was really crowded/busy and the service level was rather poor. The food options limited (for vegetarians/vegans) and overall price/value proposition was not worth it. They didn’t even do anything special to recognize the special occasion which was little disappointing. The only saving grace was the ambience - sat outside and it was nice to watch the crowd. I would not return

We had the chef’s recommended lunch set – the food was fantastic, especially the dessert with its incredible layers and flavours, absolutely memorable. Unfortunately, the experience was completely ruined by one female server (black curly hair, darker skin). She provided zero service, never smiled, avoided all eye contact, and was openly rude from start to finish. It strongly felt like she discriminates against Asian customers. When it came to paying, she didn’t even bother offering change properly – she just snapped “Want change?” then rolled her eyes when I said yes, as if giving change was some huge inconvenience. No service, terrible attitude, and acting like she doesn’t want to give change? What a joke. The male server, on the other hand, was polite and professional – night and day difference. Food: 5 stars. That one server: absolute 0. Management really needs to address this.

Made a reservation here on a Friday night to celebrate our anniversary. Just too bad that it wasn't really taken into account, since we were seated just randomly there where the waiters go in and out of the restaurant. If it wasn't for Nazima, our trusted hostess of the evening, I would rate the service quite low. We were tended by students, meaning not really professionals. We went for the 6 course dinner. Started with the ginger beef, a cold dish, but still had some frozen bits. This was followed by the saffran risotto, which tasted good, but it was something I would not order if given the choice. This was followed by half a portion of a rib bao. I think they could have easily served a whole bao, because this tasted really good. The 3 scallops, topped by caviar and smoked mackerel, in a light sauce, was really nice. The main was the Iberico pork. Good cuisson, but the side dishes could have been better. If given the choice, I would go more for the beef mains. The dessert, I requested the dates cake, which for me was the best dish of the evening. Big thanks to Nazima who paired each dish with excellent wines and made the evening enjoyable. If I was to return here, i would opt for maybe 5 courses of my own choice.

The prime rib was super chewy, the server didnt even ask us how we wanted our meat so we had to eat a rare meat. The portion was generous. Fries were mid. They were not very crunchy. Covered with mayo. Side salad was nice. Overall: Wouldnt come back. We didnt drink but they had a wide wine selection so good to keep in mind.

De Basiliek offers a classy, elegant interior that feels inviting without being over the top. It is a nice place to enjoy a relaxed meal. I had the beef bavette with fries followed by the date cake for dessert. Both were really nice in flavor and well-prepared, with the bavette cooked just right and the date cake offering a warm, comforting sweetness. If I had to nitpick, the portions could be a bit larger, especially for the main dish, but overall the quality makes up for it. Service was friendly and attentive, adding to the positive experience. A solid spot in The Hague for a well-made meal in a stylish setting.

We are foodies and have eaten our way across the world. This was one of the best meals we had. Ever. Okay, the service is nothing special, like you would expect from any restaurant, just normal and friendly, but we care less about service (we eat standing near foodtrucks or sitting on a plastic stool at the sidewalk in Asia). But the food! Flavours bursting from every dish. We had the 5 course dinner with the 2 of us. So we tried 6 appetizers, 2 mains and 2 dessert. Everything was good, but most of them were amazing: ginger beef, pheasant, prawns with salmon, pork belly with yuzu sauce, octopus; and the mains venison and iberico were also delicious. Deserts: jasmin panna cotta and sticky toffee with icecream. Everything is recommended. Least favorite was the eggplant appetizer, which would have been perfectly nice in any restaurant, but compared to all the other flavourbombs exploding in my mouth, the eggplant was a bit too shy. Even my husband who is not easily impressed, was glowing with tasty happiness. So maybe their quality is not super consistent seeing the other reviews (i will know after i come here for the next few times which i surely will), but we had a memorable, exciting meal. Also this menu at 60 euro's per person for 5 courses is a steal! Unbeatable value for this level of quality.

Yelp
De Basiliek restaurant is a splendid fusion of Italian and creative multicultural culinary deliciousness. The descriptions on the menu can be enigmatic but it's impossible to be disappointed with the chef's masterful creations at Basiliek. My friend and I came to enjoy a night out and celebrate our 38 years of friendship and toast to many more. The cocktails are refreshing and the dishes are phenomenal. We shared the very creative and surprising rock shrimp appetizer, and enjoyed the cooked to perfection eggplant entree and the fine spicy mackerel salad. The flavors of the dishes are unique and succulent. For dessert we had the date-chocolate cake with ice cream and a special limoncello smoothie! Our server, Irene fro Salamanca, Spain is incredible! She went above and beyond to make our celebration unforgettable. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Had a WONDERFUL meal there in early July. We had a large group of 20 people and the staff was able to keep up with everything we wanted to eat & drink. Will definitely be back if travels bring us back here.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is lovely. Dark and intimate. We were at a table for 8. I liked how tight the table was -- everyone could hear each other. The food was very good. Some highlights were the mushroom appetizer and the beef tartare. For main courses, the vegetable ravioli was solid. My venison was tasty, but the portion was small and it was a bit overcooked. This was a nice place to linger for a long dinner with friends.
