The Hottest Restaurant Openings to Know Right Now, June 2025 | Eater Houston

"A glamorous cocktail lounge in Regent Square that curates drinks representing countries around the world — for example, lychee for Japan, saffron for India, and mastiha for Greece — offering six classic cocktails, a dozen signature creations, beers, wines, and charcuterie boards in an upscale, globally minded setting." - Brittany Britto Garley

I have had the pleasure of visiting De Fortune twice on Sunday evenings. On both occasions, the venue was empty, but the ambiance was truly exceptional. The location has a unique ability to transport you to another world, evoking the feeling of a private society meeting place. The waiters were consistently polite and knowledgeable about the drink offerings. I have sampled most of the cocktails on the menu, which are outstanding. My favorite is the English Rose. The best part is every drink is skillfully prepared with specific ingredients that reflects the rich cultural heritage of diverse global communities. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking exceptional cocktails and music. I plan to return on a Friday to experience the full extent of their evening offerings. Updated- We stopped by the venue on a Friday night, which featured a cool energy. The vibes and setting of the people had the feel of an elegant, exclusive club. I will recommend it on a Friday night. Additionally, the drink were excellent, as usual.

Stopped by for happy hour around 6pm on Friday evening before a 7 o’clock dinner reservation. The bar was empty when we arrived so no issues getting a table. The guys working there were all very friendly and we quickly placed our drink order. 2 neat tequilas, a Negroni and an English rose. The drinks did take kind of a while given that we were the only occupied table. The Negroni was well made and my husband liked the English rose but noted that it was on the sweet side. I am assuming that this place pops off more late at night because there is a DJ situation and a bottle service menu but I enjoyed the happy hour vibe when it was easy to get a table, $10 cocktails and no problem having a conversation.

Swanky, sophisticated and vibe! The owner Mayor (sp?) and manager told us the story behind this cool cocktail bars. They both travel and wanted to create drinks of the places they visited. Drinks and service outta this world. We will definitely be back! Thanks for the birthday champs!

Stumbled upon De Fortune after dinner and it became one of the best spots for cocktails. The atmosphere was very chic and upbeat. I would definitely dress to impress. We got there early but there was a line when we left around 9:00. Will definitely go back!

A New Cocktail Lounge is Open in Houston. I recently went and had an AMAZING and different experience. I did not expect them to have only cocktails and not any small bites, tapas, or appetizers(only charcuterie, which was a very nice board actually)however, the cocktails were truly superior to any other cocktail lounge or restaurant I have experienced in Houston over the last year. Their flavor profiles along with their service, and drink consistency was amazing. Another place I would recommend for a nice date or to casually impress someone. We went a hr after often for limited crowding and getting the full feel of the environment aesthetic did not disappoint either -- Their Golden Mango 🥭 is an unofficial signature better than words. The flavor, the balance, the texture… it’s the definition of liquid gold and if you have the opportunity for them to tell you how it is made you will understand! 🍹 Another recommendation -- their Moscow Mule– Without exaggeration, the best mule I’ve ever had across all my tastings and not just in Houston. Crisp, elevated, well balanced, with all flavors of a mule(pictures in my compilation).

Had the best time at De Fortune. The vibe was 🔥. Great music, delicious drinks, and a crowd that knows how to have fun. The service was on point and the energy stayed high all night. Definitely a go-to spot when you're in Houston and want a good time!

First time visiting this bar and I was blown away! The vibe is incredible — great music, great drinks, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. Brittany was super attentive and walked us through the menu perfectly. Jay and Gabe were awesome as well — really friendly and went above and beyond to give us great recommendations for our weekend in Houston. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good time!

Google
Amazing atmosphere with great drinks! Came for a girls night out and we were able to get accommodated fairly quickly on a Friday night. DJ was very solid too! Definitely leans more towards a luxury lounge vibe. Dress to impress!!!

Yelp
I came here for happy hour and for drinks after brunch. It's fairly dark but inviting inside. The space is small with cozy tables. Great ambiance to catch up with a small group of friends as it's not too noisy in here (at least during the daytime - not sure how it's here at night). For cocktails I've had their martini service and Al pastor margarita. Both were well made and tasty. I've also had their cheese board and it was good to share for a small group. I would come back to try out their other cocktails and see what the ambiance is like at night.

Yelp
I'm sad to report that this place is not the answer. We went on a Friday evening to see one of our favorite House music DJs, DJ Nimbus. We came after happy hour and they had a pretty steady crowd, but we were able to find two seats. It is a very small space. I will say that the doorman and the bar manager were very nice , especially the bar manager. He was very communicative and friendly. Where the cons come in at is with the bartender. This is a very important part of a cocktail bar business so I was in hopes that they would get this right. I didn't get his name, but he was very off putting, he had a pompous attitude and just wasn't friendly. My little itty-bitty drink that you see in the picture was $20. It was a Gibson Martini Five to one pour and very boring and bland in taste. It did not come with my onion, I had to ask for it and it was just way overpriced for what it was. My husband ordered a regular slightly dirty martini ($20) no olive and no taste. We then got a standard Espresso martini & again boring and lacked flavor. It almost tasted like everything was watered down. The area is cute with other establishments, It was easy for us to find parking so that was a plus, but I doubt that we'd ever go back here not even for happy hour.

Yelp
This new cocktail lounge on w Dallas Friday night activities and let's just say it was wide open. They have reservations but maybe the tables get booked later in the night. Drinks were tiny for the price. About 18-20 dollars a drink. Vibes are very cute maybe it needs more time to hype up! They do have DJ table... no one was on it. It was kind of quiet we were waiting for it to get popping. Free garage parking under their name for 2 hours. Unisex bathrooms. Lychee garden drink was a bit sour for me, they don't have lychees either. Drink was 6/10. Bartenders were fast and attentive.

Yelp
10/10 for ambiance and service! Jay was so personable and attentive. We came for late drinks and had a blast! Might be one of my favorite espresso martinis in Houston - we will definitely be back!

Yelp
What went well was the overall atmosphere. it was both beautiful and intimate. The space had a warmth to it that made people feel seen and safe. From the soft lighting to the thoughtful details, everything felt intentional, creating an environment that encouraged connection and honesty. The energy in the room was calm but engaging, allowing for meaningful moments to unfold naturally. It didn't feel forced or performative; instead, it felt like a gathering of people who genuinely wanted to be there, and that made all the difference.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night. There is a parking garage nearby, and the bar has a code that will validate your parking up to 2 hours. The decor is chic and there was a DJ that night. The hostess led us to a seat in the corner, which was comfortable and offered a great view of the bar. I opted for the english garden cocktail, which was delish. It was on the sweeter side and presented in an elegant glass. They add on a 20% gratuity, like many of the upscale lounge-y bars these days.

Yelp
I had a great time. We had a reservation and got a wonderful table in a little alcove. DJ played great music. We loved the ceiling and decor. Overall, a fun vibe. Drinks were solid.

Yelp
The atmosphere is serene and cozy. The servers are attentive and attractive. This place is all about the cocktails. The only food is a cheeseboard, but that's all they need.

Yelp
Music was blasting you couldn't hear anything. Waiter brought us our first round and then forgot about us, had to go to the bar multiple times to order instead of through her. Drinks were just ok

Yelp
The staff and owner was so very friendly, accommodating and attentive. The drinks are not cheap but so very much worth the price. It is a great place for pregame or winding down . It beautifully designed.

Yelp
The ambiance is nice. The music is great and the staff is friendly and Jay at the front door welcomed us at the entrance and was so inviting to check the place out. The drinks were good and again the vibes were very nice. Highly recommend.

Yelp
As a resident of the building that De Fortune sits in I'm appalled by the way they've decided to conduct business in Regent Square. As excited as I was for this place to open, it's CLEAR they are focused on only a certain demographic enjoying the establishment and discriminating against "certain" folks. (If you catch my drift). For instance my friend and I were going to stop in for a quick drink and because he had on sneakers he was made to go elsewhere (Georgia James - which is actually more upscale) meanwhile someone else who was a non-person of color came in with sneakers and was allowed in. To make matters worse the owners are also of color! I have had no problem myself getting into this establishment FYI buttttt... I will say that the owner only spoke to my friend and I when we ordered a bottle of Caymus (for context - there were maybe 10 people in there and he could've spoken to/checked on all of us). The bartender was not nice nor accommodating when we sat down. When we first arrived we ordered Caymus by the glass - $25-30 per glass - first he did not he serve us a fresh glass of Caymus until we told him it wasn't fresh, then when he finally opened a new bottled he gave me a very small pour and my friend had more than me, I asked him if he could fill mine up to where he filled my friends and instead of obliging he looked at me as if I was speaking a different language. Because of this we ended up saying F it and ordering the bottle. The glassware is cheap, not that of a luxury establishment with pricey cocktails. The drinks were okay. You're better off going down the road to Melrose or Clarkwood. The ambiance and decor was nice but it felt very copy and paste to what's already existing in Houston. Do better! We know what it means when you put a sign in front of the door displaying the "dress code". Also it's not very welcoming to have the doors shut to the public during business hours with no door man.

Yelp
Service was amazing, ambiance is a vibe, perfect music, and the toilets are so cool! They flush so fast. It's satisfying I timed the flush at 0.8 seconds. I feel like I'm on a commercial airliner. Very clean lavatory's 10/10
