The Best Pizza Places In New Jersey

"On the bridge connecting Trenton and Pennsylvania, a neon sign states, “Trenton Makes The World Takes.” It refers to all the manufacturing goods Trenton exported in the early 1900s, but as soon as the world wises up, it’ll refer to its style of pizza. Trenton tomato pies are a regional specialty, characterized by a relatively small amount of mozzarella melted onto thin, crunchy crust, leaving the spotlight for the crushed tomatoes on top. No place does the style justice like De Lorenzo’s in Robbinsville. Order the pies well done, and every bite sheds flakes of crispy crust without tasting dry or burnt. While the toppings - like tender chunks of sausage, not-too-salty anchovies, or half dollar-sized pepperoni - are all enjoyable, they play bit parts compared to the layer of hand-crushed tomatoes, which add enough acidity to make you forget you’re currently working on your second tray of bread and cheese." - matt tervooren

Originally founded in 1947 in Trenton, before moving permanently to Robbinsville around 2012, De Lorenzo’s Tomato Pies, when going through the various lists featuring the best pizzerias in the best state in America for pizza, is not only common place among those lists, but is indeed considered by many to be the best pizza in New Jersey. It is undebatable that De Lorenzo’s is 1 of the 2 most synonymous purveyors of a traditional Trenton tomato pie (The Garden State’s signature style where the cheese goes on first and the tomato sauce goes on second, on top of the cheese), alongside it’s down the street neighbor, and the longest continually operating pizzeria in America, Papa’s Tomato Pies. It’s also, for what it’s worth, one of the 2 highest scoring pizzerias in New Jersey reviewed by Barstool Sport’s Dave Portnoy (the other being the second oldest pizzeria in New Jersey and home to our state’s oldest operational brick oven, DeLucia’s, which I have also tried and can confirm is not only fantastic but my personal all time favorite pizza as well). Now, with all that out the way, here’s my review. Even among other places that serve Trenton tomato pies, a De Lorenzo‘s pie is its own unique species. First and foremost, instead of a typical simmered seasoned tomato sauce or a raw blended passata di pomodoro puree, they just use high quality hand crushed tomatoes and olive oil (other Trenton tomato pie spots also do this or they use a raw blended purée, rather than a seasoned simmered sauce like most spots in NYC and North Jersey). Secondly, is their crust, which is cracker thin, more akin to American bar pies or Roman thin crust tonda romana scrocchiarella pizza, as opposed to the more airy and foldable crusts of most NYC/NJ pizzerias. With that said, while I’m not the biggest thin crust lover, I really enjoyed the bitter char on the De Lorenzo’s pie and the overall bread quality and flavor is significantly better than any thin crust pie I’ve had which is part of why I’ll go to say it’s definitely the best thin crust pizza I’ve ever had so far. Finally, the most distinguishing trait of this pizza for me, is the way that it’s cut. Somewhat rectangularish cuts, as opposed to more uniformed triangle slices, something I’ve never seen before on a round pie in New Jersey or New York City, but something that truly gives the De Lorenzo’s tomato pie its own unique and special character. The cheese, a high quality low moisture mozzarella blend, was perhaps the most normal or prototypical part of the pizza. The toppings that I added to my tomato pie (I order a half regular with basil and half with Italian sausage, garlic, onions, and hot cherry and banana peppers) were fresh tasting and of high quality. In addition to the pizza, the cold octopus salad I ordered is one of the best salads I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The restaurant space was classic and classy. The kitchen staff and waiters were dressed in vintage mid 20th century restaurant worker attires and the waiters were very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The staff and the customers (many of which seem to be long time visitors) were seemingly having a joyful time throughout the restaurant. As an overall restaurant De Lorenzo‘s is a 10 out of 10, it hits all the marks for a great dining experience. Now, as far as the pizza itself, it’s the best thin crust pizza I have ever had, but being a born and bred North Jerseyan with half my family being from New York City, I’ve grown up on the quintessential triangular NY/North Jersey slice that has an airy and foldable crust. I also tend to really love places that have a real deal brick oven, especially if fueled by wood or coal (authentic Neapolitans are my second favorite style of pizza). De Lorenzo’s 2 defining traits (crust & cut pattern) rob it of a 9 or better for me, but everything else about the pie garners it no less than an 8 1/2 out of 10 (same score I gave to one of my all-time favorites, Bevaqua’s Reservoir Tavern in Boonton). I can definitely picture certain pallets I considering this the best pizza in New Jersey.

Google
It's the best thin-crust pizza for miles. Generous toppings and perfectly crispy. Wait times are long, so I'd recommend coming at some other time than peak dinnertime. My family love the desserts, but personally, they're not my favorite. No one really comes here for the dessert, though - it's all about the pizza. The atmosphere is casual, boisterous, and friendly. Lots of big families with all the grandparents and cousins every time we're here. If you're averse to noise, pick the restaurant next door. If you're fine with noise, the tomato pies here are incredible.

Unique "Trenton" style pizza. Cracker crispy thin Style puzzle cut in strips no normal pie slice shape. Pie was fresh with a good balance of sauce with tomato chunks and mozzarella cheese. The wait staff was thin and took a while to get any attention! Give it a try if you're if you're in the area

This place is a must-visit for foodies! The food is incredibly delicious, and the ambiance is simply fantastic. I ordered the arugula salad, which was both tasty and refreshing. The thin-crust pizza was almost perfect.

We have been going here for more than 10 years. My wife’s family‘s been going since they opened long ago This is hands-down, the best pizza you will find in the untied states top 10 on the list. The flavor is on another level

It was very good and worth the wait! Have been wanting to come here for a while wish they took reservations for smaller groups, but the line for a table although kind of long went quick enough. Atmosphere is very nice, friendly service, we enjoyed our meal. BYOB. Salads and appetizers were delicious. The basil pie was perfect, we ordered half sausage topping which was very good and half roasted peppers, which was OK. Definitely coming back to try their other toppings and salads. ✨

Pizza was fine, but Dave Portnoy was probably a blessing a curse to this place. You can't get a table even on a weekday, the parking lot is a complete zoo. The staff was friendly enough once we got inside to get our to-go pizza since we couldn't get a seat. I'm sure this pizza is much better when it's fresh at the table, but since that wasn't an option we did the best we could. That being said, the pizza was very okay. The crust is very dry and crispy (if that's your jam cool but it left something to be desired). The toppings were good. I wouldn't fight the crowd again to try and redo but I wasn't unhappy with what I got.

Google
Went on a Saturday late afternoon 4:30 PM. Had a 45 minute wait. But well worth the wait! It is a BYOB and primarily pizza and salads to order. We ordered two tomato pies well done, with basil and garlic. I’ve had a lot of pizza in my life and I am a huge thin crust fan. This might be the best pizza I have ever had!!!! . It was cooked to perfection crispy crust, as well as great undercarriage. The basil and garlic were very fresh. My wife and I mostly me , lol ate two large pies. The service was good, but the waiter seemed tired not much of a smile probably due to the fact they were so crowded. Atmosphere is nice ,clean not your average pizza place.

Yelp
The tomato pies are outstanding. This is one of the best pizza in the Philly area. The only problem I had was dealing with the take out service. The dude that mans this part of the operation is an idiot. You are better off ordering the pizza with a waitress.

Yelp
Nice spot. 1) Tomato pies is the lost twin of pizza invented in New Jersey (NJ). I do think if you are around the area, you should give this place a try and give tomato pies a shot. Tomato pies can mainly be found around Robinsville, NJ. 2) The service was excellent. I do appreciate it. 3) The main con is: There are no single slice of the tomato pies. So, you have to buy the whole pie. Tough if you come here single or living on your own.

Yelp
I ordered $100 worth of pizza from here earlier this week. I always enjoy the food at the De Lorenzo's. But it seems like their owner or whoever runs the Facebook account is a little unhinged. I wonder if he's the same guy that helped me carry my pizza out to the car and thanked me for my business. Because that guy was very nice and it's sad if he's the one posting these crazy things.

Yelp
Could not believe how good this place was on Saturday 7/13...so Tuesday drove back to Robinsville with friends. 2.5hr drive, but worth every bite. We arrived just before dinner opening at 4:00pm and there was already a line. Ordered same pies again. Tomato Pie and a Pepperoni pie. Didn't have to wait long and we were not disappointed . BYOB...suggest a good Pilsner or Chianti. Almost finished both pies. Flying back to TX in the AM, but great late nite snack.

Yelp
Took many years to come here. So glad we finally did. Crust crispy, meatballs were delicious had the clam pie as well. Tomato pie so good!

Yelp
BEST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD. I've had pizza all over NY, NJ and Italy...and I must say this is the best pizza I've ever had. Perfect crisp, no undercarriage. Sauce is tasty and not too cheesy. Even love the way they cut their pies. Perfect date night spot too. Wish they would open more locations (north jersey please!)

Yelp
My friend had tried De Lorenzo's previously and said their pizza is amazing. We came by around 7 pm on a Friday and found that the wait was 40 minutes. We walked around the area and ended up waiting in the lobby before we were called to our table. De Lorenzo's is interesting because their menu is both limited yet expansive. All pies are the standard tomato pie and there is a wide assortment of toppings you can add on in any combination. My friend and I got a large pie with onions, garlic, broccoli, and mushrooms. There were only two slices left of our pie by the time we finished, and it wasn't bad! I wish the garlic flavor was stronger and although the pizza was good, I don't think it was worth the 40 minute wait.

Yelp
De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies has been on my radar for a while now (since viewing Dave Portnoy's review, to be honest). But I live in Connecticut, I was finally able to get there tonight with my wife & Mother In Law. Wow, we were blown away, this was some of the BEST pizza we have had anywhere. Crisp crust, no flop, great chew, and a perfect char (we asked for a "light char"). It all amounted to a very unique experience which was pizza perfection. Extremely tasty, those pies went down way too easy. Even my Mother In Law had a big appetite tonight, she consumed several slices, I've never seen her so ravenous. Hey, the music was cranked too loud, the A/C was also set way too high, and the service was sub par. Plus the seating was slightly cramped, the guy next to us almost sat on my Mother In Law as he was taking his seat. But all that still did not take away from how stellar that pizza was. De Lorenzo's makes Top Notch Tomato Pies, enuff said.

Yelp
I read plenty of positive reviews that brought me here on a Saturday night. I love trying new pizza spots in Jersey and this place was sub par. First of all, our waiter did not give us the time of day because he was too busy with other tables. We literally had to flag him down to get the leftovers packed and to get our check. We were interested in desserts but upon asking him he's like do you want what the other table got, and we had no idea what the other table behind us had ordered. It was not that busy either for him to just disregard us. Pizza was not that spectacular to be honest. I have not had the tomato pies before but this was too much tomatoes for what I was expecting. On the positive side, parking is not an issue and pricing is fair.

Yelp
Went here back in May with a large group of family. We got a nice comfortable table and had to wait about 20 minutes for it to open up but they kept us updated and we knew the hostess was on top of things. Food was awesome so no surprise it was packed. Server was attentive and food came up quickly. Order was correct. Now for the food...wow!!!! Old fashioned tomato pies are hands down the best that I've ever had in my life. I've heard this is the place to go, and the people that told me that are absolutely correct. We got the antipasti too which was also excellent. If you haven't been here yet...go here, and thank me later.

Yelp
My favorite place to grab a tomato pie is De Lorenzo's. I have always ordered takeout because it seems impossible to get a table, but recently I was lucky and dined in with a relatively short wait. The restaurant was lively and packed yet not so loud that I could not enjoy a conversation with my guest. Multiple servers assisted our table and they were all very friendly and efficient. The tomato pie is top tier and the toppings were very fresh and savory. I had a large pie with two toppings, a small plain pie, and a fountain drink for $40 and change after tax. Dine in or take out, the quality remains the same in the best way possible.

Yelp
tl;dr expect service with attitude, but if you're searching for the pinnacle of tomato pies, as well as traditional seafood toppings, look no further For the uninitiated, the "Trenton tomato pie" refers to a circular, thin-crust pizza with tomato sauce dolloped above the cheese and other toppings. De Lorenzo's is one of the premier purveyors of this regional delicacy, established by Italian immigrant Alexander "Chick" De Lorenzo back in 1947. Although the original location in Chambersburg shut its doors in 2012, the Robbinsville location continues to be operated by De Lorenzo's grandson. De Lorenzo's takes residency in a small shopping center/apartment complex. The atmosphere is a modern spin on an old-school red sauce joint. Polished brick is left exposed along the walls, and flat screens are juxtaposed between large black-and-white family photos. Numerous tables and booths loop around the U-shaped, semi-open prep area. Disco tunes blast around the space. A few friends and I arrived on a Sunday evening an hour before closing, and we were surprised to find the doors were locked. An employee barked that the shop was limited to takeout for the remainder of the night. Yet, it remained relatively bustling inside: staff joked around with seated guests like family, while others parties were still placing their dine-in orders. We quickly deliberated and decided on a Large Tomato Pie with Clams. We then witness the staff rapidly clean up/clear out the restaurant and then prepare/eat their own dinners, despite another half-hour of dinner service. Our order proved to be the last of the night (another customer arrived and ordered after we did, but received their pizza ahead of us). As I grabbed for my first slice, I was surprised the find the pizza cut into abstract shapes, as though Picasso himself held the cutter. Blisteringly hot, the middle of the pie was floppy and sloppy, but relatively conducive to our chewy protein of choice. Meanwhile, the sturdier edge pieces sported the quintessential thin crust, with a crisp texture that immediately reminded me of Frank Pepe. The chopped clams, generously sprinkled across the surface, were briny without feeling fishy. I relished the opportunity to try the clam pie both with and without the tangy, unevenly streaked tomato sauce. The large pie ran just over $20, and the portion size was fit for a family. While the pizza was excellent, memorably superior to Papa's down the street, the bizarre experience with the staff left a bad taste in my mouth. Nonetheless, I can confidently say that, curt service aside, De Lorenzo's fires up relatively affordable, top-notch pies.

Yelp
I could eat pizza every single day. I've had bad pizza and I've had great pizza but this redefined what I thought pizza could be. I ordered a large pizza delivery for my wife and I to split and my only regret was we were not hungrier so we could eat more. I'll never forget my first bite of this magical pie. Crust just crunchy enough but not overdone, the sauce sweet and delicious, the cheese savory and mouthwatering. All of these ingredients playing off each other to make me question everything I ever thought I knew about good pizza. Not a day goes by when I don't think about this pizza and I cannot wait to go back and have another slice.
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
Busy as it can get for any restaurant in the area and perhaps one of the best options. Freshly baked pizza pies with as many or as little toppings you like. Be warned the small is enormous but worth every button popping bite.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
It's good, but it certainly doesn't live up to the hype nor give reason to go out of your way to get here. Ambiance is very nice, services absolutely excellent, the pizza is... above average. If you don't go in with elevated expectations, it's not a bad spot, but again not something I would particularly go out of my way for. Not one I would include in my "must try" pizza spots, but not one I would say to avoid either. If you happen to be in the area, it's not a bad choice. Hours are rather inconvenient if you're trying to grab an afternoon bite though.

Yelp
Really exciting atmosphere, it is so popular! We did have to wait approx. 45 mins. for a party of 7, but it was worth it. First time trying De Lorenzo's and tomato pies, and it was a very pleasant experience. The tomato pies we ordered were very large. We ordered 3 for our table and had some leftovers. I'm not really knowledgeable about pizza vs. tomato pies, but compared to the pizzas I'm used to, the tomato pies here are like a really interesting thin crust (yum!) with more emphasis on the sauce rather than sauce/cheese flavor profile. It's yummy! Really enjoyed the flavor of the tomato pie with sausage (super flavorful!!), sweet peppers, and pepperoni. Also got the pear salad to try. Service was good, lots of young staff who were efficient and attentive. The cleanliness of the restaurant (and even their bathroom) were great, too. Customers can really tell that this place is well-maintained.

Yelp
what can you say that hasn't been said a million times already. this is a great slice. one of the best i have had in recent memory. it was wet, cold, rainy sunday night and football playoffs are on tv and it's still pretty packed even up until closing time and there is definitely a reason why. it's thin, as crispy as can be. charred parts too and bottom, full of flavor, pretty flawless. Service was good and fast, Nice comfortable booth. Tvs all around to catch the game. Not too noisy to hear the waiters and have a convo at the tables. clean, well lit. This is really a textbook spot for how to run a restaurant and put out great food. can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
Best pizza . Been coming since the 80s when they were in Trenton. Still the measuring stick for every pizza I eat

Yelp
Was visiting a friend in west Windsor and he recommended to try tomato pie from Lorenzo. Ordered their signature tomato pie for takeout. As soon as I walked in I was promptly attended by wait staff, pie was ready within 15 minutes. Ambiance is really great, seems like a great place for Sunday lunch with friends and family. Their pie is bit different from other pies, usually their is a layer of sauce then cheese, at this place it's cheese first then dabs of fresh tomatoes sauce. Overall taste is really great, and would definitely try pizza pie again and their lunch options.

Yelp
Amazing jersey tomato pies - thin and have a great crust. Two large pizzas filled up a party of 5. We ordered: - Large clam well done half red half white: garlic came with the clam pizzas which added a nice touch. Most of us liked the red sauce version. Crust was nice thin and crispy. Not many clam pizzas in jersey! Of course it's hard to compare against Frank Pepe's in CT but this is a good fall back option without having to drive hours. 5/5 - Large mushroom and broccoli, with homemade meatballs on half, regular crust. Loved the mushrooms here, the meatballs were nice and not too oily compared to the standard sausages. Although this was supposed to be regular crust, the crust came out to be very similar to a well done version, maybe the broccoli needed extra time to cook. 4.5/5 Overall the pizzas were very good for jersey tomato pies, they would be perfect if they were slightly less greasy (some bed of oil floating through each slice, but hey it was delicious). Service was friendly, place was clean, BYOB as well. Affordable local pies, can't be beat.

Yelp
Came here after reading a lot of positive reviews and left a bit underwhelmed. This is not to say the pizza was bad, it just didn't live up to the hype for me! Perhaps I'm not a fan of more tart tomatoes or the charred pizza crust, but overall it struck me as just "ok" for the thin crust style. I'm a firm believer of a cheesey pizza but the restaurant does advertise a tomato pie. The one thing I can appreciate is that it was not overly heavy or greasy and that many pies will make you feel sluggish after. Probably won't come back but it was worth a try if you're into pizzas like my wife is! Pro tip: The clams and tuna toppings are only available for the full pie as toppings and can't be ordered as halfs.

Yelp
Best pizza in America. Really no competition. The servers are pros. We are lucky to have DeLorenzo's.

Yelp
Always the best since 1947, been coming here since I was a little kid in Chambersburg and the old restaurant

Yelp
This name comes up all the time in the top pizza lists, so I had to try it. First of all, prepare yourself if you're based in NYC. The pizza down in South Jersey is apparently much different, dough wise. I read that they do some sort of double rise, but for me, it's not my favorite. The crust comes out much tougher than a NY slice. And I don't mean chewy or springy or crispy, just tough. The only edible part is where the crust is softened by the sauce and cheese. A great mix of cheese, excellent sauce, but the dough...try it once. It's closed during the early afternoon, an alternative is Papa's, down the road a bit. Don't leave the area without popping into the gourmet Italian grocery across the street.
google avatar

Carlo B.

Yelp
Pizza was really good. Lots of tomato, crispy thin crust, not too greasy. 50s style diner vibe. Coworker said it was ranked best in Jersey and although idk about that, it was really effin good!!! Had a regular pie then the white pie with sausage garlic mushroom rosemary

Yelp
Finally made it here and must say that overall it was an okay experience. The crust is thin which is good for those that don't want that heavy carb feel after a pizza night out. The sauce however was as bland as could be and I think a dash of evoo or sea salt or even a hint of basil would liven things up. Not much can be said for the mozzarella as well. Not much in flavor again. We ordered one with pepperoni which added more kick but only a few were strewn about the pizza which exhibits a lack of love of craft. I wish I could say more about this pizza but can't. I was upset because I've heard so many good things. Again, it's a decent experience and you can't overdo it with this pizza. It's light and won't slow you down. But alas it's not memorable and not worth the hour or so trip for me to try it again. Even taking one home for the kids. Upon warning it up, the consensus was that it had no flavor and because the crust is so thin, overdone on a reheating. Oh well, the journey for more great pizza in New Jersey continues.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Made a special trip on our way from NYC to DC. The tomato pie is great. Love the crust, especially the burnt edges. The "heirloom" tomato salad was a tragedy. The tomatoes were hothouse, tasteless and so hard they were impossible to cut. The onions dry, ancient and had no bite. The blue cheese was bland and tasteless. I tried adding extra dressing and even vinegar. Nothing made that salad edible. When I showed the uneaten salad to our waiter, he shrugged and said "we get the tomatoes from the same place." That didn't make them taste better and he didn't offer to replace it with something different nor take it off the bill. The restroom had no TP or soap. Other than the pizza, a waste of time and money. I certainly didn't need to spend $35 to consume a small pie and diet coke. Meh.

Glenn E.

Yelp
In my humble opinion, one of the top pizzas (along with Carmen's/Pete and Eldas and Vic's) in New Jersey. Great service. Great ambiance.

Yelp
otally would drive again. The pepperoni was very tasty and the crust crispy and really good. Highly recommend this place Only negative was the service was a little slow.

Yelp
Great pizza, fresh salads, and fast courteous service. The pizza is thin and great crisp. The sauce is what makes the pizza. Fresh, slightly sweet, not overly seasoned and taste like the tomato was just picked off the vine. It blends well with the cheese and crust.
google avatar

Yelp
For years I've heard the raves about De Lorenzo's pizza and finally made it here. I expected to be blown away by a phenomenal thin crust Trenton traditional tomato pie at the place known best for it. However, I was disappointingly underwhelmed. Perhaps my expectations were too high but this pizza was average. It was thin and crispy but the slices were not consistent. Some pieces were burned and dry and others were a bit soggy. The taste overall was mediocre at best. I really wanted to love it. The service was great and atmosphere was super cool and nostalgic. The prices were more than reasonable but sadly I probably won't be back.

Yelp
I eat pizza from here a lot and it's really good because there's something about it. The crust, the toppings, everything about it is very very good

Yelp
De Lorenzo's is worth the trip! It's pretty simple, delicious food that keeps you coming back. The menu is short and sweet, and the quality ingredients and fun family vibe at De Lorenzo's keeps us coming back. We have typically started our meal with a salad and then a couple of pizzas. I'm getting hungry just typing this review. We had a plain pizza and a meatball pizza. They were both perfectly cooked. The pizza consistency is a perfect blend of crunchy crust and flavorful sauce and just a little bit of cheese. Not oily at all. It's pizza pie perfection. Last night we topped off our meal with some pistachio Tartufo, which was a perfect way to end the meal. We will continue to come back and try to schedule our arrival when it's not "prime time" so the wait isn't too bad.

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of Robbinsville, New Jersey, De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies is a gastronomic beacon for pizza aficionados seeking an authentic, memorable dining experience. This family-owned establishment, operating since 1947, has solidified its reputation as a purveyor of exceptional pizza, underscored by exemplary service and a charming, homey ambiance. Stepping into De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies is like taking a delightful journey back in time. The restaurant boasts a comforting, nostalgic ambiance with vintage photographs adorning its walls, depicting the rich history of the De Lorenzo family and their culinary legacy. The open kitchen design allows guests to witness the art of pizza-making firsthand, from the stretching of the dough to the meticulously crafted tomato pies emerging from the brick oven. The service at De Lorenzo's is as warm and inviting as its ambiance. The staff, maintaining the family tradition of personalized service, cater to every guest with genuine enthusiasm and attention to detail. Whether offering recommendations or sharing the history of the eatery, their dedication to ensuring an enjoyable dining experience is palpable. However, the true triumph of De Lorenzo's lies in its extraordinary menu. The primary allure is the signature tomato pie - a delicious inversion of the typical pizza where cheese is laid first and crushed tomatoes are artfully scattered on top. The 'Original Tomato Pie' is a masterpiece of simplicity and flavor. This pie showcases the fresh, vibrant taste of tomatoes, the creamy richness of cheese, and the perfect crunch of a thin, crisp crust. Each element is balanced, allowing for the tomato's natural sweetness and acidity to shine through. The 'Sausage Tomato Pie' is another culinary delight. Topped with house-made sausage, it boasts a fantastic balance of hearty meatiness, bright tomato flavor, and the perfect cheese blend, all nestled atop their signature thin crust. For a bit of heat, the 'Spicy Tomato Pie,' featuring long hots, fresh garlic, and tomatoes, is a definite crowd-pleaser. The spicy peppers introduce an exciting kick that complements the sweetness of the tomatoes, creating a tantalizing flavor explosion with each bite. The menu also provides a selection of topping options, including classic favorites and unique offerings like anchovies and artichokes, providing guests the liberty to customize their pies. The 'Clam Pie,' a white pizza topped with fresh clams, garlic, and herbs, is a must-try for seafood lovers. Beyond the stellar pies, De Lorenzo's also serves a variety of salads and antipasti. The 'Antipasto Salad,' laden with fresh vegetables, Italian meats, and cheeses, makes for a refreshing start to the meal. To conclude your visit on a sweet note, indulge in their 'Cannoli.' Crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside, these classic Italian pastries are the perfect finish to a fantastic meal. In essence, De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies provides more than just a meal; it delivers an experience steeped in family tradition, culinary excellence, and genuine hospitality. The ambiance, service, and, most importantly, the food are exceptional, promising a memorable dining experience that will undoubtedly leave you yearning for your next visit. Whether you're a seasoned pizza lover or a casual diner seeking a slice of Robbinsville's culinary history, a visit to De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies is truly a journey of flavors that you won't want to miss.

Yelp
Great pizza however they charge for pop refills. It say so on the menu so it's understandable, BUT they took my glass when it wasn't fully empty and filled it. If I am paying for a pop on each refill don't take my existing glass with pop still in it and add to it and charge me.

Yelp
They make a great pie. Crispy crust and they use delicious ingredients. You won't be disappointed with this pie.

Yelp
Apparently, the town is known for tomato pies since there is also a popular one down the street. I had gone to that one so I wanted to try this one as well. I parked in the back and ordered a small pie to go, which took about 15 minutes since they were not that busy. If you are a fan of the chunk tomato on the pie with less cheese then this a place for you. I thought it was ok, the sauce was not anything special though which is really the main concept here. Not a bad place, I just would not personally go back.

Yelp
On a Friday afternoon, my girlfriend and I decided to take a drive down to Robbinsville and try this pizza spot. It's about 45 minutes or so from us. This place was on our "to visit" list for a long time, and we finally tried it. There is a large parking lot here, which is nice, so parking is not an issue. We arrived at a good time, and we're able to get seated right away. The inside of this place was very nice. Great decor and very clean. We decided to order a classic tomato pie and a sausage pie since they recommended trying the sausage to us. The tomato pie came out first, and it looked outstanding. We waited a few minutes for it to cool down, and once we tried it, it was delicious. Zero flop, nice chunks of tomatoes on it, and super crispy. Just the way I like my pizza to be. The cheese and sauces they use here are so good. This was one of the best tomato pies I had ever tried. Then, when our sausage one came out, this was just as good. Not as crispy as the plain one, but that is expected with toppings on pizza. Still had great under carriage and nice crispy crust. Plus, the sausage was delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our time eating pizza here. And the service and staff were so nice and attentive to us. Everything was outstanding.

Yelp
Is it possible to give six stars as an option? Is it the greatest pizza I've ever eaten, well, I can't think of one that was better. This was truly an outstanding pizza experience and honestly the really really thin cracker crust isn't usually my thing. But this was truly delicious. The tomato sauce was amazing. Me and a business colleague ordered two smalls. The photo is of the meatball, that was delicious. I neglected to get a photo of the pepperoni pizza, probably because we were too busy eating it. I am completely honest when I say that they get their pepperoni from another planet. I've never tasted one that good before. It is sweet and well spiced at the same time. But not spicy. And it is sliced very thick. This is obviously not the Hormel slice crap that you get from the supermarket. This is some legit pepperoni that they either cut from a stick themselves or have done that way for them. There isn't anything I can say negative about the entire experience. Just absolutely wonderful.

Yelp
Arrived shortly after they opened and they were already super busy on a Saturday evening. From the recommendation of a friend, we had the tomato pie and a tomato pie with meatballs. I much preferred the tomato pie to the meatballs. They are well known for a phenomenal thin crust - which I loved. Because of the heaviness of the meatball, the crust wasn't as crunchy as the plain. Would definitely return for a tomato pie with garlic and basil and a sausage, that looked great as well. Highly recommend if you are in the area :)

Yelp
Just want to say this is the best pizza you'll get if your from New Jersey. The pizza was delicious. On the other hand expect to wait an hour plus for a table. The service and atmosphere is like being in arcade. It's very cramped and very loud. If your looking for a place to go on a date this is not the place at all.

Yelp
I grew up eating at the original, (I worked a summer job at the ice house around the corner). I now live out of state and the pizza is not the best. I decided to try this restaurant after a 4 hr drive and was quickly disappointed. It was around 2PM so the restaurant was relatively slow. I sat down and waited for service as instructed. There were only a hand full of people and a few servers but somehow I was overlooked for about 10 mins. I happen to be Afro American, getting this out there in case others share my experience. Hopefully it was just a bad day.

Yelp
The place is super busy, but it is worth the wait! Our friend took us here and my husband and I absolutely loved it. Such a gem of a spot. One of the best pizzas. I would totally come back again. Actually, I'm looking forward to the next time that we're back in NJ to come here again. :)

Yelp
Once every month or so I goto Princeton (NJ) for Wet Cupping (a treatment for my back pain). Today after the treatment I drove from Princeton to the relatively nearby Robbinsville NJ to De Lorenzo's Tomato Pie. I had the plain tomato pie, along with blood orange soda. What a treat. What a joy. Take a look at the plain tomato pie (image attached), it is more beautiful than Angelina Jolie. The crust is so good that you would be hard pressed to find anything better. Just so that there is no misunderstanding, let me state that this is not one of those Neapolitan style or Gourmet Artisanal Pizza, this is born in Trenton, NJ (born in the USA), something Bruce Springsteen would eat and sing about pizza. I know some are wondering, Trenton ? Yes, Trenton is not New Haven, CT (Pizza Capital of USA), BUT, at the very least Trenton is Marlon Brando (of On the Waterfront) - a contender. The pizza is assembled with a slight tweak. Everything goes in first, and then finally, it is topped with tomatoes. De Lorenzo's pizza is so good (just look at it) that if people in farfetched places, who eat their slice topped with pineapple had it, they would move east and settle in NJ. It is the best pizza in NJ and perhaps amongst the top three in the country. It is so good that on July 29th when I go back to Princeton again (for my treatment), I will once again drive to Robinnsville. This time, I will have a pie with mushroom, sweet peppers, and onion. I will pair it with Limoncello Soda.

Yelp
The sausage pie is phenomenal. The pizza is amazing and the sausage compliments it very well fj you enjoy it.

Yelp
I can't believe I've never reviewed this place! We have been patrons of DeLorenzo's Tomato Pies for years. It's no surprise that this continuously pops up on several lists for Top Pizzas in NJ. I love a good thin crust, and the dough is always very crispy. The tomato sauce is pure heaven. I looove the chunks of tomato you'll sometimes get. Keep in mind tomato pies are not meant to be too cheesy -- the focus is on the tomato. Everything is always incredibly fresh. This place is known to get busy, so plan accordingly! Also, their menu isn't very vast. It consists of just tomato pies and salad. But that's really all you need. Their tomato pies truly are a MUST!! My #1 favorite spot for pizza in NJ hands down.

Yelp
This establishment is probably the best kept secret in all Robbinsville, New Jersey. What?

Yelp
I had high hopes for DeLorenzo's because of its' cult following but unfortunately it's hit or miss for me. The plain tomato pies are delicious and well done but the service is lackluster. On multiple occasions, I've ordered half red and half white pies with various toppings. The last time I went, the tomatoes were raw on top of the pie and instead of trying to correct the error - the server kept asking me the same questions over and over. I even went so far as to show him photos of previous pies I ordered the same way that looked COMPLETELY different. He was totally apathetic and it made for an awful dining experience.
