"Christened ‘by night’ in French, the room is aptly furnished in black, grey and blue and punctuated by brass trims and velvet upholstery. The young kitchen team are led by the Hong Kong head chef, who worked in some of the pregtious kitchen in Asia. He mindfully layers textures and flavours in every dish, while respecting the French traditions and seasonality of ingredients. Ask the sommelier to pair your food with wines or teas." - Michelin Inspector

The food was decent, not bad, but not particularly memorable or exciting. Nothing really stood out or stayed with me, and the presentation didn’t quite deliver a “wow” moment either. The wine pairing was excellent. The sommelier was truly impressive, and the chef was humble and pleasant. Unfortunately, the service is the main reason I wouldn’t consider returning. First, the staff’s English proficiency was very limited, and it was clear they were not well trained in introducing each dish. Their manner of speaking felt overly casual and lacked the professionalism expected when addressing customers. Second, due to their limited English, the waitresses only spoke in mandarin to the guest at the table who understood Mandarin, completely ignoring those who did not. This felt disrespectful….are customers expected to translate for the staff to do their job? (Our table was served by two different female waitresses. And one even seems like she is manager?) we had to remind her Twice please also introduce to foreign customers in English again! For a restaurant at this level, the quality of service was genuinely disappointing. Unfortunately, the dessert shown in the photo was a major disappointment as well. The interior consisted of a juice-like filling with very little flavor, while the outer layer was white chocolate that tasted overwhelmingly fatty and unbalanced. It doesn’t taste like chocolate at all. Despite trying, I genuinely could not finish it and had to excuse myself to spit it out. It was particularly unfortunate as it was served at the end of the meal and ended up overshadowing the otherwise pleasant flavors that came before. Given the disappointing service and with the whole experience, the price of around USD 315 per person was unjustifiable… I have tried quite a lot of other fine dining in Taipei I will definitely not recommend here. Sorry.

This place deserves 3 stars Michelin. The food is amazing, taste, incredible presentation, you can feel the ingredients one by one. Come and enjoy a wonderful gastronomic experience. Congratulations to Chef!

I found the food to be creative and very well-plated, but the ingredients didn't sing the way I would expect for a restaurant at this price point. I checked the menu multiple times to see what ingredients were in each dish because I had a hard time tasting some of them, like the morels for example which should have a very distinct flavor. The service was top-notch, with the server even providing lens wipes when she saw that I love food photography. The atmosphere was also great. The dark tablecloths added a sense of moodiness and drama to the ambiance and were a nice contrast with the bright and truly stunning dishes used to serve the food. My only gripe was that it felt a bit busy and hectic with the waitstaff coming and going so frequently in a tight dining area.

I had the pleasure of dining at three different Michelin rated restaurants this week in Taipei. de nuit was by far my favorite of the three restaurants. From the atmosphere, to the imaginative creativity of the menu, to the visual feast of each course, to the attentiveness of the staff de nuit was unrivaled. No disrespect to the other restaurants, but they paled in comparison in every aspect in opinion. I would happily eat here again. Chef Koo it was a pleasure meeting you Saturday and experiencing a level of service and attention to detail I won’t soon forget. Best wishes for continued success.

De nuit are the restaurant who first respond to my email which I enquiry :”do u received reservation table for 1?”, and I success to make a booking after they adjust reservation system to me to dine in as 1 guest. Food do surprise me, with bamboo shoot of seasonal veg, it taste great and fresh. I like their tomato tartlet, Taste I never had before. The clam are great and fresh. Service staff are charm and well chatting ,wine sommeliers are professional share wine knowledge with me with I waiting the next course. Is a great place to dine in when I visit again at Taipei

**Friend's review** This time, I had a rare family gathering at de nuit restaurant in Taipei, and the overall experience was very satisfying. The restaurant's atmosphere is tranquil and the decor is elegant, especially the combination of orange-yellow lighting and black tablecloths, which creates a serene nighttime ambiance. The ingredients are fresh, and the dishes are creative, such as the scaled horsehead fish, carabineros shrimp, and the unique sauce pairings, all offering delicate flavors. The service is attentive, and the chef personally came to hear our feedback. The only slight drawback is that some dishes were a bit salty, which might not be to everyone's taste. The desserts, though creative, are a bit inconvenient to eat by hand, and the sparkling water is just ordinary. Overall, it is one of the top French restaurants in Taipei and is highly recommended.

The food was good and among all the dishes, I like the lamb and the strawberry ice dessert with almond ice cream the best. The service was great. However , there was a strange odor in the washroom, though it did look very clean.

Food and service are way above 5stars!! It’s a well- thought thru dining journey for guests. A cozy place with fab service right from the start upon arrival , and towards the end, the chef came out and intro himself humbly to us which made us appreciate the whole experience even more so 😄 Their sour dough bread was well baked and even the small lil cookie they gave us to bring home tasted so good! The food were served at the right pacing and they explained all dishes thoughtfully. I love foods that can challenge my palate, they def manage to do so! We paired with non-alc and it’s really interesting how each drink went well with the food even without the essence of alc. As the place is small & by fine dining etiquette , people spoke softly. If anyone is heading there in a group, I’d suggest to reserve their private room so you could speak as loudly as you want 😁 Based on observation, their private room seems to have good soundproofing ! They change a new menu each season, I’m so looking forward to visit them again in winter season 🥶
