"Found next to the Artis zoo, De Plantage is a café-restaurant with a French/Italian mixed kitchen. It's situated in a one of a kind building that provides a great environment to enjoy your dinner. While the historic site and beautiful interior are must-sees, they also have a nice terrace which makes them a perfect place to visit the whole year through." - Soda Studio

The 20 Best Restaurants In Amsterdam 2024

"The Plantage neighborhood’s namesake cafe functions somewhat like your run-of-the-mill museum or tourist attraction eatery, but feels more like the lobby of a nice hotel. The globe-trotting lunch menu has several varieties of shakshuka, a chicken liver parfait with madeira gelée, and Amsterdams pekelvlees, an open-faced sandwich topped with Dutch corned beef, horseradish, and pearl onions. This is where you'll want to start or end a visit to the ARTIS zoo—its compact, winding layout is jam-packed and engaging enough to get lost in for hours." - paolo espanola

Neighborhoods in Amsterdam

"Far greener and less touristy than Amsterdam’s historic center, De Plantage has wide, leafy boulevards that contrast with the Canal Belt’s narrow, cobblestoned streets. The neighborhood is home to the Hortus botanical gardens and the city’s Jewish Quarter, where Rembrandt lived at the height of his fame. Today the famous painter’s house is a museum replete with prints, sculptures, and paintings that reconstruct his life in the Dutch Golden Age.The legacy of the Jews in Amsterdam is preserved in the Jewish Cultural Quarter, encompassing the Jewish Historical Museum, Portuguese Synagogue, Dutch Resistance Museum, and Hollandsche Schouwburg, a theater that served as the last stop in Amsterdam for 104,000 Jews deported from the Netherlands to extermination camps during World War II. Waterlooplein, the main square that was once the core of the community, is now better known for its daily (except on Sundays) flea market.Across the Amstel River, Rembrandtplein is the site of hip nightclubs, trendy bars, and smoky coffeeshops. A cast iron statue of Rembrandt, made in 1852 by sculptor Louis Royer, presides over the lively square. To mark the 400th birthday of the famous Dutch painter, a bronze-cast representation of his most famous painting, “The Night Watch,” by Russian artists Mikhail Dronov and Alexander Taratynov, was installed in 2006 around Royer’s work.Further south, the Royal Theatre Carré hosts cabaret, opera, and Broadway musicals. At The Hermitage, Peter the Great’s fascination with Amsterdam’s enlightened culture is on full display in this museum of Dutch-Russian history modeled after its namesake in St. Petersburg." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Very nice place next to the zoo. Atmosphere is very nice. It’s a big place but almost full. We walked in with no reservation and it was fine. There is an outdoor area that overlooks a pond with flamingos. We had the lunch menu, we ordered the shakshouka and fatter, they were not traditional, food was very good, portion a bit small.

Walking in you get the feeling it’ll be a nice experience and it didn’t disappoint. Our wait staff were fun, attentive, and friendly. The food was great. The Slow cooked and roasted leg of lamb from Burgos was filling for one very hungry person. The steak was good and the bone marrow was delicious. Poultry parfait with pancetta was also quite tasty. The Flan was one of the largest portions we’ve all had to date. Had two servers both good but ‘fun size’ was fantastic. Hope to be back soon.

Google
An overall good restaurant in a lovely setting located in the trendy suburbs of Amsterdam close to the main university. De Plantage serves good food with a friendly and professional service team! The main bar is impressive and during the summer months the terrace must be a great spot to meet!

Google
The food looked okay, but actually it was not tasty at all. The ravioli had a thick, bland dough, and I couldn't tell what I was eating. The best one was the bread. The restaurant looked very nice but if you want to try delicious food, this place will not be your best option.

Google
Soooo delicious!! How they have made bread, an egg and ham so ridiculously tasty is beyond me. The building and decor is beautiful and the perfect meeting spot with friends. Highly reccomend going here for breakfast, lunch, dinner or afternoon tea. The selection of ingredients is so fresh and rustic and the plating for the price is exceptional. ❤️ I also have quite the sweet tooth and the creme brûlée was perfectly crispy and the hints of flavourings were so cozy. Definitely give the desserts a shot 😋

Google
Not so impressive overall! Location is good, interior and atmosphere are very nice. Food is average for me, especially the starters, main dish was better, I tried the sea bass. I don’t understand the vegetarian option of the starters, they are named like the Lebanese mezza, but the taste and display was far away from them! The service was bad for me, the waiter served everyone wine except me, and she didn’t bother herself to apologize when I asked for wine. Very tough and almost throwing the dishes!

Google
The food is very good and the atmosphere is very nice. The service for me was a lowlight. Firstly, we watched the host seat people according to their preference, inside or out, when it came to us, a different host said we could only sit inside because outside was for reservations. As we sat, we saw that same host sit practically every other party outside. During the course of our meal we saw several available outside tables for two people which would have accommodated us. The uneven treatment didn't feel good. The wait staff were also hard to get. I understand wait times are long in a busy place like this but I don't understand not being able to get anyone's attention when there are wait staff all about (there was no shortage). Forget about friendliness or exchanging pleasantries.

Google
Really nice family friendly place next to the zoo, you got nice sunshine from indoor since they are using many glasses in the building, atmosphere, interior design, service, and of course the food are all great.

Yelp
Solid food in a really beautiful atmosphere. We were able to walk in without a reservation and really enjoyed our meal. Service was friendly and prompt.

Yelp
Decor 10/10- garden was absolutely beautiful and I loved how you could walk outside to take pictures! It was so spacious and it also had heaters in case you got cold! Service: 10/10 very nice and on top of it! Also explained to us how tipping worked in Amsterdam since we were tourists. Drinks- 7/10 yummy espresso martini, but nothing super unique! I'm not an old fashioned person, but my parents seemed to like their drink! Food- 8.5/10 each dish had its own taste and the ingredients were extremely fresh! My favs were the raviolis, poultry parfait, and the octopus! The ravioli each had their own distinct flavor and were paired beautifully with the candied lemon. They were also not very heavy! The octopus was melt in your mouth and paired with chorizo was a unique combo I never thought of! The poultry parfait was buttery and tasted even better with bread! I didn't like the ceviche at all. It was more like lobster roll than ceviche which left me incredibly disappointed. Would definitely recommend skipping that. Overall: 9/10 often places with beautiful settings skimp on the food but this was not one! You can enjoy a lovely dinner with a wonderful ambience!

Yelp
First restaurant of our Amsterdam visit. Was indeed a delicacy to enjoy the snacks here with our drinks. I tried the non alcoholic wine Prosecco and I loved it. For snacks we had the hummus, the classic bitterballen and mushroom croquettes. A must place to visit for the ambiance. Service was great here with the amount of people visiting. Will definitely try to reserve a table by the garden to watch the Flamingo and enjoy my dinner.

Yelp
Do not come here if you are in a hurry. Staffing issues have obligated De Plantage to remain closed on Mondays, and the wait staff is struggling but, in my experience, were kind and doing their best. This cafe restaurant is housed inside an 1870 orangery, with a six-meter ficus tree at its center... everything is on a grand scale with numerous intimate seating areas. Bleached wood flooring, marble countertops and tan leather banquettes make for eye candy. Outdoors, you are seated on the perimeter of Amsterdam's zoo, Artis, and on the grounds of Hortus, the city's botanical gardens. The Mediterranean fare is fresh, well prepared and attractively plated. I ordered oysters on the half shell and the insanely divine wild boar ravioli.

Yelp
Great trendy spot next to the Artis (zoo)! Great service and food is amazing. Especially the fresh vegetables, almost like farm to table. Would definitely come back again to try their other menu items. For our dinner, we got: Cerviche (Mackerel) Wood grilled fish Steak Churros com Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream (Glass of Prosecco and Syrah) All wonderful~

Yelp
excellent restaurant by the zoo in Amsterdam! They open late as well which helps if you are jet lagged from US. The outdoor seating is very nice with hanging lights. We had the ceviche, Cod and steak.

Sherman L.

Yelp
The food and ambiance of this restaurant is great. I highly recommend the lamb shoulder. It is crazy good and the price for two is very reasonable. The amount of food is very good and the taste is sublime.

Stella C.

Yelp
Elegant and refined. The restaurant has a beautiful greenhouse feel. I would love to come back when it's warm enough to sit outside and to try more of the menu.

Amjad R.

Yelp
Food was excellent, service was excellent, staff was very considerate and efficient. Ambience was excellent, definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
One of my favorite meals during our stay in Amsterdam! Not only is De Plantage aesthetically beautiful, but their food was delicious! It looks very fancy inside, so we expected a pricey dinner.. but everything was reasonably priced at 20 or less for main dishes! (but keep in mind all of us came from NYC...) Most of us ordered either the perch or the risotto at the recommendation of our waitress. And both were delicious! The perch fish was not dry and the rice, eggplant, and veggies accompanied it perfectly. The risotto was also really creamy and flavorful. The runny yolk was a perfect addition. Even though it didn't have meat, the mushrooms were so good. I wish there was a De Plantage in NYC that we could go to!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Great spot to meet friends and have drinks. Upscale feel environment and extremely friendly waitstaff and bartenders. I wish I would have had dinner here, but my schedule would not permit.
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Beautiful dining room with great ambiance. We found the food to be quite ordinary, but good enough, considering that the prices are reasonable. The service was good, until it wasn't. The floor manager noticed that we had been scanning the dessert menu for an eternity, and personally delivered our desserts - on the house.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
Excellent. Came here for an early dinner (while it was still light out). The large dining room can't be beat. Elegant without being fussy, overlooking the zoo, the ambiance was top notch. Got a glass of Orange wine plus the cioppino for dinner. Everything came out in a timely manner and was delicious. Perfect portions. Dessert was a torta de santiago with spiced apples, a meringue and cream. Had that with limoncello. Perfect complement

Yelp
I absolutely adore this restaurant. It's everything I love. It's beautiful interior with the tree in the center and sleek lines that sit on the zoo. So you can walk outside after to the patio and see all the birds and monkeys not to mention the flamingos! And if that isn't enough the food is incredible. We did our podcast there during lunch and we're very distracted by the food. We loved all the Tartines, and ravioli. We ordered the rose and it was lovely.

Jason P.

Yelp
Fantastic dinner experience. Love this location, including the high ceilings and the spacious layout. Service was great, as was the food. We started with the curried fatoush and the fennel sausage ravioli -- both were delicious. we split the roasted leg of lamb, which was fall-off-the-bone delicious. Churros were a great dessert to close things out. The also had delicious cocktails. Would definitely come back here next time we're in Amsterdam.
google avatar

C M.

Yelp
Food is really good, actually that impressed us but service is AWFUL. We waited 20 min to get our beers and 30 min to pay the bill. Not the best service when you try to call them and no one looks in your direction. Even though, food was delicious and the decoration was pretty.
google avatar

Yelp
We were wandering around Amsterdam and stumbled in here randomly. Obviously we did not have a reservation and although we arrived at 5pm we were promptly seated and advised that the kitchen didn't open until 5:30pm. Our server was very friendly and prompt and the food we ordered was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend this place for a nice meal.
google avatar

Bianca V.

Yelp
Our waiter was very sweet and the food was good. I think the coolest part was the atmosphere by far. It's next to a petting zoo and inside a greenhouse. We ordered the asparagus risotto with a poached egg and the fried red fish. Both were good. I don't think I have ever had a fish fried to that level of crispness without it also being heavy from the oil. The fish was light and the meat tender and flaky. For dessert we capped it off the pear crepe. The best part of the meal was the wild boar ravioli. Those 4 little pockets of meat were packed with a creamy gamey filling.
google avatar

Christa Lei S.

Yelp
Four stars because service was something left to be desired. Our waiter randomly disappeared at moments we needed him but we did enjoy our dinner. I believe this was because of the fact that they had an event going on as well-- at least the rest of the wait staff ended up saving that dude because we would flag random waiters down and they would be able to fill in for him. Five stars for the food, because it's more than worth the value. I really enjoyed everything we ordered. We shared the burrata and ragu ravioli as our appetisers and we loved both! I don't remember what we had for entrees now because I'm finishing this review much later than I initially started, but my partner and I enjoyed everything here, and we were actually surprised at the quality and believe that everything here is worth the value. I also saw people bring their dogs inside the restaurant, so it's pretty dog friendly and H U G E. (I guess the Dutch don't really have laws like in America about pets + food handling?) Beautiful, beautiful space-- you can spot Micropia and the Zoo through the windows.
google avatar

Gus K.

Yelp
Upon entering, there is a sense of regalness that may have you second guessing a casual dinner outing. But this is Amsterdam, where anyone can mingle while enjoying the atmosphere and good food. The main room is enormous, resembling what could have been a greenhouse at one time. We were enthusiastically greeted and lead to our table after signing off on our reservation. The service never missed a beat as our waitress was also friendly and just on top of things. Everything came quickly including a second glass wine and dessert. I began with the salad with burrata, served with blood orange, fennel, eggplant and pomegranate vinaigrette. It was wonderfully presented and one of the best salads I've ever had. The main course was roasted duck with beluga lentils, savoy cabbage, fried elstar, pancetta and mirin. The meal was equally delicious. This is a perfect spot to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or just a pleasant evening out. I give top marks for a flawless experience and good food at a very reasonable price. De Plantage is a true gem in one of Amsterdam's most unique neighbourhoods.

Yelp
We loved this restaurant--our favorite in Amsterdam. Make reservations--your will need them. We had the lamb dinner for two, with chutney, yogurt sauce, rice, roasted pumpkin, and grilled lemons. It was the best lamb I have ever had. We also ordered a green salad to share, which sounds just like what it was; a bowl of butter lettuce and croutons. We also got fries, which were served with aoili, but although they were fabulous, that was a mistake. Great meal. I'd eat there again in a heartbeat.
google avatar

Yelp
Interesting food, lovely dog friendly location, good wine list. We met my cousin and her husband for dinner. My husband is a beer guy and so he didn't share in our bottle of wine. I had the eggplant appetizer (delicately flavored and very tasty) and the risotto with sea lavender! Exceptional. I finished with mint tea which was great too. My cousin's husband had fish soup followed by salmon (I think) and my son had the pork belly dish. We were all lucky with our choices and our experience. But my husband hated the place. It was too noisy for him ( the acoustics was pretty weird), his food was served cold. The service is very slow here which drove him even more crazy. Overall, I would go back but wouldn't bring him!
google avatar

Serge S.

Yelp
The boar ravioli was very flavorful. Loved the creamy sauce. The place is very nice, though you can dress casual. The entree came out quickly but the main course took over 30 minutes. I got the cod filet and yassi gnocchi which is gnocchi with a hint of citrus. Best fish I have ever had! I could eat another. The sauce was so good I spooned a few as if it were soup. The crepes were very good. A scoop of ice cream, warm apples and powdered sugar. Excellent!
google avatar

Jana C.

Yelp
This is a wonderful outdoor space not too far from Rembrandtsplein and Jewish Quarter: a nook of the city worth exploring, IMO. Not only is the Botanical House literally around the corner, but this cafe is sandwiched between a green and zoo to which the likes an American is not accustomed. So worth the jaunt. Nice hidden, low-key corners throughout this bikelicious canal-bursting city.
google avatar

G. C.

Yelp
Conviently next to zoo. Parking for diners discounted at the zoo parking if validated at the bar. Nice open space design. Good food. Good service.
google avatar

The R.

Yelp
6 star food, comfort of chairs speed of greeting for seating a little lacking. The Ravioli dishes are proof of the divine. Absolutely exceptional. The warm Amsterdam sandwich is corned beef on thick garlic toast. Possibly typically Amaterdamish, but nowhere near as stellar as ravioli.
google avatar

Regina M.

Yelp
I ate here in 2015 during a two week trip across Europe and I had the best meal ever! I would come back to Amsterdam and just eat here the whole time! So worth it, the atmosphere is amazing and the food is delicious!

Devon M.

Yelp
Food was tasty, beautiful restaurant- but got food poisoning from the boar ravioli on 11/29.
google avatar

Gayle S.

Yelp
Delightful ambiance. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the view of the exotic birds and fountain. The food was delicious- we had shakshuka and a tartine. Our main server was helpful and charming, but the other two superfluous servers forgot our water a few times. Overall very enjoyable.
google avatar

Katelyn O.

Yelp
Fantastic! Lovely interiors and delicious food! We ordered the chicken tartine and the sausage ravioli and they were great. We licked our plates clean. I would love to try everything on the menu. And as necessary, we ended with some creme brûlée! And some of the best coffee. Yum! And the staff were very kind.
google avatar

Uri P.

Yelp
Super cute instagrammable location with a nice backyard but that's all it really is. Food is 6/10... And the servers... Not the nicest. Not until you speak English and they realize your English, but it's rude to assume that you're illiterate.
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
Pork terrine and the oysters were fresh and delicious. The duck was my choice for entrees and it was well prepared, presented and best of all tasted delicious. Don't forget to try their churros with chocolate, that seems to be a really fast growing international dessert.
google avatar

Yelp
What an impressive space. De Plantage has been expertly restored into a classy yet inviting and unpretentious restaurant. A place as beautiful in New York would be charging 18 euros for sandwiches that require merely 7-10 here. The ambiance remains loyal to the early 20th century feeling evoked by Artis, while conjuring memories of Paris and old train stations. Its floor to celing windows showcase the beautiful Artis Zoo. Eating there for lunch, the food was simple, fresh and tasty. There were quite a few offerings, including ravioli, toasties, and several open faced sandwiches. I had the smoked salmon with roasted beets and fisheggs, my friend the mackarel with cucumber and yogurt sauce. They were both quite good. Very tasty indeed, although I might not have been inclined to return time and again merely for the sandwiches. However, given the setting, I intend to be back soon, likely for dinner.

Yelp
We walked in earlier that day to get a reservations that day, and ended up with a nice seat by the window. (not by the bar as some places do) the space is open and airy and had nice view of the outside patio(which seems lovely to sit out on a sunny day.. (we lucked out being there when it was warmer.) they seemed to have A/c .. Food was good, felt i was getting a good quality meal for the price. Salad and main were pretty & good flavors (when you go to the bathroom you can see the plates coming out ..if you like to watch the kitchen staff that's a good spot. Wine list was good. I can also see my folks going there so it's not a hole in the wall place .. Good for place to for a date or with your whole family. I'd go back they have a broad selection of either vegetarian or pesicarian.. (the fatuosh was more spicy then i'm used to.. it was good) If i lived in Amsterdam I would try other things. I will add this to my list of places to go to next time i'm there ..besides the pancakes.. :) I heard it's a great place to go for lunch too.

Yelp
Amazing cauliflower main dish. I don't even know what was in it but it was beautiful, tasty and perfect. The burrata was so fresh and the mussels were perfection. I wish they were a big main instead of an app. They were so good!!! The staff is attentive and kind and the ambiance energetic yet a bit casual chic. Nice open space with high ceilings and a good vibe. Also my three year old had a steak, green bean and fries "meal for kids" and it was so fantastic and perfectly portioned. He loved it and I was happy they didn't offer chicken or plain pasta or pizza yet again somewhere for my son.... well done! All around awesome.
google avatar

Mistydawn J.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance, service, food and wine! This restaurant is a treat! We walked in and couldn't get a seat but the restaurant looked so inviting we made a reservation for the following night and it did not disappoint. Very unique menu and everything was awesome.
google avatar

Rae S.

Yelp
This was the best restaurant my husband and I tried during our recent four days in Amsterdam. The food was both delicious and attractively presented, and our server was knowledgeable. I started with the Burrata with beets, followed by the Risotto with asparagus - both were excellent. My husband had the Tomato lamb consomme, followed by the Braised pork cheek - he was very pleased. We highly recommend this restaurant, and it's close to other great attractions, like the Waterlooplein flea market and the Rembrandt House Museum. Make a reservation if you'd like to sit outside.
google avatar

T T.

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner here and had a very good experience. We made a reservation and glad we did as even though it is a very big restaurant it was packed. The ambience was very nice. For a starter we shared a burrata salad which was an interesting combination of ingredients but worked very well and was delicious. For mains my husband had the roast duck and I had the bavette. Both were excellent but I would give the duck an edge. And for dessert we shared churros. Everything was great and our bill was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served. I would recommend it here.
google avatar

Monika S.

Yelp
Absolutely a must on a nice, sunny day, such a beautiful location, perfect for birthday lunch :) Host was not as pleasant as our amazing waitress who was always smiling and attentive. Oysters and burrata are worth ordering, the curried cod sandwich could be missed next time. Aperol spritz topped off the afternoon! Will be back :)
google avatar

Sherace B.

Yelp
Great food ! Beautiful venue & staff was nice. I was late to my own dinner and they were very accommodating. Churros are a must & there lamb was great, especially to share.
google avatar

Daniella S.

Yelp
This is a beautiful place and as others already said the atmosphere is stunning! From the high ceiling modern part that's the bar/café to the glass front and beams old part that's the restaurant now. Absolutely beautifully done...! I came here for a date which was quite romantic and perfect to have a drink and chat because it's quiet. Came back here to work (free wifi) which was also great. The coffee is nice but the poached eggs I had on sourdough bread wasn't very convincing and drowned under a weird sauce béchamel.... The apple tart looked much better. So I'll give it another try and want to have a proper dinner in the restaurant as well...
google avatar

Angélique H.

Yelp
Waitresses were clearly not in the mood. Were planning on a lunch with a party of six. After the second time having to ask for a menu, we just gave up. Another guest came to the bar to ask for a coffee. After she went back to her seat, the waitress said way too loud "jesus, couldn't she wait just one second!"

Miss Ally A.

Yelp
I'm going to keep an open mind for this place as it's still fairly new and perhaps they're just working out the kinks. The building - beautiful!!! So beautiful. Super impressive. Great ambiance Very romantic or very showy. So, come here for a sexy dinner for two, or come here with girlfriends dressed up, or perhaps for a business dinner. It's lovely. Food is pretty good. Not incredible - yet. Service - O-U-C-H. They have about a bazillion people working here and yet it's was embarrassing how poor the service was. Our order was forgotten twice. Meaning...we waited about an hour for appetizers. I had to walk to the bar to ask if it was forgotten. "No, it's just taking a while" she said as she was typing on the order computer. 10 minutes later part of our order was out. We told the waiter and he ran off quickly. Came back and said "Sorry, we completely forgot the order. And then we forgot the other part of it." Durp. Anyway, eventually it all came out and it was pretty good. Oops..drinks were forgotten, too. But they were okay when they came out, too. :) I understand mistakes, of course. So, for now, the location is the main reason to go. I'll go back in a month or two when perhaps they're operating up to the scale they should be. (Bonus: A tree at the host stand is rad)

Fräulein B.

Yelp
We went there for dinner on a Friday night. Our appetizers were pretty good. Ravioli with a red beet and burrata filling and a salad with roasted veggies and burrata. The entree as well. We shared a lamp leg with rice and again roasted veggies. Very well presented. The dessert was average, unfortunately. The downfall was unfortunately the service. You could tell none of them was schooled. No recognition for empty glasses and plates. The plates for the entree they brought us were way too small. When the waitress finally "cleaned" the table she didn't bother to clean the grease on the table, didn't even see it. So I had to tell her to please wipe the table before set it again for dessert. Every time we needed attention we had to wave like lunatics to get any attention. No, they're not understaffed. They just simply didn't pay attention except bringing out the plates. Very unfortunate for such a great place and actually pretty good food. Maybe I'll give it another try for lunch time since the location is pretty amazing.

Yelp
Came here with a party of 10 people. We were sat promptly. It was full, but did not feel overly crowded. Service was fairly fast. We got a variety of food and drink. Everything was delicious. The lamb for 2 is incredible. We also got the bavette, octopus, risotto, ravioli, burrata, and creme catalana.

Yelp
Perfect spot for lunch. The atmosphere is fantastic. The architecture is splendid. The food was perfect for a summer afternoon. I did not find it anymore expensive than other places. Do yourself s go Or and sit outside. Enjoy the view and sounds, as well as The zoo and the kids playing in the fountain.

Yelp
We dropped by for dinner. It's an absolutely beautiful venue! But frankly I think the food was just alright... I had chicken and rice and we shared a tasting platter which pretty much consisted of pickles bread and a selection of meats. But I could make a better chicken and rice at home. The chicken wasn't tender, tasted dry and the skin wasn't crispy... so it was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't come up to my restaurant dining expectations. I think it's a great place to hang out with friends and take your time waiting for your food, ''see and be seen'' kind of place. But the food could do better.

Yelp
No highchairs, no way to sit in main dining room with out reservations. Food was good, but it was not the experience we were hoping for.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend, and boy was it an excellent choice. First, the obvious--the space is absolutely stunning. One of the more beautiful restaurants I've ever been to, anywhere in the world. The service was excellent, though American waiters would probably have been a tad more attentive. For instance, they did not offer to refill our wine glasses, we had to ask for another glass. That's fine, and perhaps typical here, but different than our usual experience. We had two starters and two main courses. All were outstanding. The highlights were the coquelet pimenton (chicken) and the bavette (beef) with bone marrow and herb butter. The almond cake for dessert was sensational, with ice cream, mascarpone, and raspberry sauce. All this plus two glasses of wine each and two coffees for like 90 Euros. In the states this would have been $150 easily. And price aside, it was a superb meal. Highly recommended.
