While the suites are nothing too special (especially the shower was not great), the restaurant absolutely makes up for the whole experience! The four-course dinner was absolutely sensational; the combinations of flavours were creative and amazing. Additionally, the breakfast felt like another property star-restaurant event, with almost everything made in-house and super fresh! We are certainly coming back for the food!

Excellent, friendly service with a relaxing and well lit ambience in the middle of the forest. Good wine pairing with 4, 6 or 8 courses and you can substitute signature dishes into the mix. Location is beautiful and if there are no rooms available at the restaurant, you can stay a 5-10 walk away at other cosy hotels.

We spend a night at The Swarte Ruijter to celebrate my parents 50th aniversary. We booked two rooms and had dinner with four extra guests. The reception was excellent. The rooms were nice and spacious, though the decor is a little dark. The bed was excellent and the bathroom was good and functioning well.||||Our extra guests arrived at four and we had drinks on the great terrace. Our waitress didn't know her beers and while the personel went for dinner (and off course we understand they have to eat too) left us without service for an hour. ||||Because the weather was great we had dinner on the terrace. The food, we had the 4 course suprise menu, was great. The personel forgot to offer us any wine with the food and when we asked our first glass only arrived halfway through the first course. After that service improved and though the kitchen took its time we had a great dinner.||||After a good night sleep the breakfast was great. We would recommend the place for the food, the decor and the area, but we think service could be better.

While staying at the Hoog Holten Hotel, we chose to dine the second evening at this nearby Michelin Star restaurant. A very nice place, very friendly reception and service, professional advice and information about dishes and wines. Nice atmosphere and pleasurable contact with other patrons. ||We chose a 4 course surprise menu with a wine arrangement. The 3 course basic also appealed to us though. The various dishes were delicious and well built-up, the wine oirginal and very good, although somewhat pricy. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, that made good on the disappointment we experienced in the hotel Hoog Holten we stayed at. The first Dutch wine we ever tasted, from Maastricht, was a very pleasant surprise.

We went for the weekend and booked the gourmet arrangement with 2 overnight stays and a 4 - and the next day a 5 course dinner, good value for money. The hotel restaurant with rooms in the bsckside close to the forest is situatrd on the Holterberg. The courses are very tasty with well balanced, surprising combination of tastes, really worth the Michelin star. The winelist offers a lot of choice but you can take a wine arrangement that Goes with the food as well. The service is nice, professional but very relaxed. The Breakfast is nice as well. The area is great for hiking and biking, with some nice museums within a halfanhour drive. Looking forward to our next visit.

Four in my family on a 4-day bike trip stopped here for the 4-course menu and an overnight. We were met by helpful staff from the beginning, helping us secure our bikes and getting us settled. After a glorious shower, we had dinner. The wine was superb, the food delicious, the staff attentive and happy. ||||Just a fine stay any way you look at it!

On my way back from Amsterdam to Hamburg I made a stopover at the Restaurant. Been here before and like the place. Even though I didnt have a reservation, a table was made up quickly. All in a pleasant manner. Great when you are tired from a hard days work! I only had a maindish, but I enjoyed. A nice glass of Verdejo and a few mis en bouche did the job. Hard to get into the car for another 3,5 hours drive. Lovely surroundings!

We were only in the restaurant. Nice place, great atmosphere, great hospitality, delicious food and of course home made. The wine is excellently chosen. Situated in the woods around Holten, good parking place. The dining room is with a big group somewhat noisy. Top restaurant.
