We stayed at the JW and decided to dine at Dean’s. Our server, Tyler was amazing! He helped me choose the perfect steak and OMG! I had the ribeye and lobster Mac and they were 10/10. My husband had the Wagyu Bolognese and he said it was 10/10. Will def come back and recommend to others.

I visited Deans for my 36th birthday on 10/30/25, first time visit to celebrate my special day. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the decor was gorgeous. The hosts and waiters were super friendly as well. We ordered quite a few things to enjoy the occasion as well as we wanted check out a few selections (my brother is a chef and we always try new restaurants, even plan full vacations around trying restaurants in different states). Everyone’s meal was delicious but mine (I know this because they had to share their meals with me due to my meal not being up to par). I ordered “The mint” with a medium steak. My 1st steak came back over cooked (WELLLL DONE)… they took it back and brought back a new one that was MEDIUM RARE. After the 2nd one I opted not to try again (I ended up bringing it home and searing it a little more so I could eat it).. my prawn was severely over cooked, was sticking to the shell, no juiciness, and not tender at all compared to other exclusive restaurants I’ve visited. While waiting for my 2nd steak I also found hair in my whipped potatoes (which they did replace). Outside of my disappointment with my main meal, the crab cake was the most delicious I’ve had in awhile. My brothers’s New York strip was cooked to perfection. My moms chicken and veggies were a delight as well to my tastebuds (just wish I could say the same about my birthday selection). The margarita cocktail was also great with a twist of flavors I would love recreate at home. All and all I spent over $185 (not including the $40 tip) on myself for a meal I couldn’t enjoy at the restaurant and had to fix when I returned home. There was no discount offered or any apologies from the manager for my inconvenience. Eddie Vs or Steak 48 would have never allowed this (i frequent them often).

My wife and I had a lovely anniversary dinner and it’s all thanks to Dean’s delicious food and wonderful wait staff. If you’re able to have Jason and Jeff as your waiters, you’re sure to have a wonderful experience. I’ve never met someone as knowledgeable about all menu items (especially the wine) as Jason. Both had delightful personalities that really made the dinner personal and memorable. Can’t wait to stop by again to try more menu items. Do yourself a favor and try the wagyu rib cap; you won’t be disappointed.

Michael was phenomenal! From start to finish, his service was top-notch, professional, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. Every recommendation he gave was spot-on, we absolutely loved everything he suggested. It’s rare to find someone so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. Michael made our experience unforgettable, and we can’t wait to dine with him again!

Enjoyed our Christmas Day at the bar. Scott was our bartender and was amazing! Super attentive and friendly! Drinks were fabulous and quick to service. Highly recommend coming here for any occasion!

Google
Quite literally had a perfect experience. There was a slight wait to be seated, but the lounge area is perfect for snapping some photos before dining. Once we were seated, we were blown away by the service, attention to detail, and ambiance. The food and desserts were absolutely phenomenal. My friend and I always celebrate our birthday together as it’s the same day and we decided on Dean’s for year 31. They made it super special and the manager made sure we knew our birthday and visit in general was valued. We will definitely be back!

Celebrated my birthday at Dean's. The service was exceptional (Joe) explained the menu and made selections that were totally perfect. We enjoyed three courses and all were amazing. I'm very happy that we chose to dine and celebrate with Dean's, we will return again.

Google
Tyler was amazing! My husband and I visited for our anniversary on a Wednesday evening. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. The staff was kind and very professional. Tyler was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the Bucatini pasta and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. We ordered the dry aged ribeye, asparagus, billionaire potato, bucatini pasta and a crab cake. Worth it! They gave us a complementary cherry cheesecake to celebrate and that was also really tasty. A great way to spend our anniversary and we will be back. Also, Congratulations Tyler on your marriage.

Yelp
Although they could not find our reservation, I provided by email and reservation number and they quickly seated us. We had a knowledgeable and attentive waiter--Tyler. He was so helpful with differentiating between sauces, recommending wines and giving honest opinions on customer favorites. The restaurant was busy as expected for a holiday night! It was very beautiful with nice touches in the drinks and with the food. For example, my French onion soup---probably our favorite thing we ordered, came with a gold scissors to cut the delicious cheese and it was in an ornate bowl and my drink had a large ice cube and orange peel. Highly recommend the tomahawk porkchop exactly how it comes--my husband got 2 meals out of it. Also, the French onion soup and 74 Negroni. Thank you Tyler for a perfect 4th!

Yelp
I stayed at the JEMarriott in Charlotte and was eager to try this restaurant that's on the first floor lobby. First things first let's start with the bread. The bread is divine. It just melts in your mouth. it's served with a butter that taste like it was churned. I ordered a Caesar salad with the anchovy and a 6 oz fillet. The fillet was just perfect seasoned to perfection. The restaurant is a little pricey, but I think it's worth every penny.

Yelp
Our dinner at Dean's Italian Steakhouse was fantastic. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive. My Ora King Salmon was cooked to perfection, the best I ever had. It was so good I went to the kitchen and told the chef how much I liked it. I had Rapini on the side, and it was a perfect pairing. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

Yelp
Our thanksgiving dinner was @ 7:45pm did not get seated until after 8pm. They had no More Bread (rolls) . The turkey was cut very thick & food was cold... service was ok. Ambiance was tooo dark. Do not recommend for thanksgiving. The steak yes,,,,

Yelp
The only reason it was not 5 stars is I just didn't love the potato. It wasn't creamy cheesy it was starchy. Mac and cheese was very good though. Better than average. We also had the crudo which was great. Everyone loved their dishes I definitely loved my queen style filet with the sauce and lobster. I would go back anytime except we sat outside and it was street sweeper time. Not a deal breaker but just warning everyone lol.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of having Rich as our server. Rich was pleasant, respectful, knowledgeable and spot on. We ordered the crab cake, which was rather large and had plenty of crab vs binding. We then split a salad, filet mignon and mushrooms. All was perfect.

Yelp
YUM! The hubs and I enjoyed dinner and brunch at Dean's during our recent stay at the JW. Favorites: Tuna Crudo Wagyu Bolognese Truffle Eggs Sausage Hash Great Lattes The yummy warm bread & butter The service was excellent and each visit was fantastic. Dean's is delicious!

Yelp
Loved this place! Went out with the boys here for some steak and it lived up to the hype. Very nice restaurant and decor and service was 5 star!
google avatar

Devin K.

Yelp
This place is very vibey even during the day however I wasn't super impressed with what I got for lunch. I got the Caesar salad and it was pretty basic (I know you can't really do a ton with that) but I was expecting for the salad to have higher class ingredients with the reputation the restaurant has. I also got the meatballs which were really good and worth a try! I was trying to go light since it was lunch but I will be going back for dinner!
google avatar

Yelp
Very good steakhouse. Works great if you are staying at the JW. Only weird thing is the bathroom situation. One shared bathroom in the lobby that's it. Otherwise nice spot

Yelp
This is one of my favorite steakhouses in Charlotte! I always get prosecco and filet with lobster. The bartenders are very attentive and always give great service. The atmosphere is very classy and elegant and modern!

Yelp
We had a great anniversary dinner here. Brett was our server. He was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He told us the wedge was big and shareable and was happy to split it for us. The bread was delicious and fluffy. The steak with its sauces was so good and the pork chop was really tasty and great value for the price. The lobster Mac and cheese was so good and had sizable chunks of meat throughout, not just a couple of pieces sprinkled on top. We got the tiramisu as well which was delightful, I just forgot to take a pic. Outside was a little noisy due to street traffic, but hey, it's uptown. Great place for a special dinner or night out.

Yelp
While Dean's Italian Steakhouse would have not been our first choice, other Uptown restaurants of our choice were fully booked for Thanksgiving so we ended up at Dean's - for the first time. We had a reservation for 3:15 but were seated only at 3:30. The restaurant was really busy so just that would have been ok. But we ordered 2 glasses of white wine ($16 each, which could have been the price for a whole bottle) and they came in room temperature warm. One would think that a steakhouse restaurant knows that a sauvignon blanc and a pinot grigio are not supposed to be served at room temperature! More disappointment followed when our parsnip bisque and turkey dinners came out rather cold (again close to room temperature!). Our waitress never came by to ask how everything was, so we did not have a chance to request them to warm up our plates. As far as the atmosphere, it was too busy to be enjoyable, especially because we were seated next to the kitchen door, which swung open every minute and all we could "enjoy" was the loud bustling of kitchen staff in and out the door - endlessly. What aggravated me in the end was the fact that they threw plastic ware utensils in our leftover bag, as if after dining at one of the most expensive restaurants in Charlotte, we would go to the parking lot behind Walmart to finish up our leftovers! It just felt belittling and unsensitive to load plastic ware in our bag as if we just ate at Taco Bell (aside from useless plastic pollution)! The food was decent but not worth the ultra-expensive prices this restaurant charges, especially along with the other drawbacks in service and general ambiance.

Yelp
The service for us was very fast and the manager was very friendly. My mom and I both ordered the petite filet, with a side of broccoli and lobster mac and cheese. The food and the bread was amazing, however, the steak was reeeeally salty. The espresso martini was perfect, and the watermelon guava margarita was tasty as well but super sour/tart. Overall it's a really classy, nice spot, but for the price and overall selection and the salty steak, not sure I'd be too inclined to come again. Tried it, was alright, probably won't try again but that's my personal preference! It was busy so it's clearly not a bad restaurant, just not my fave lol.

Yelp
If you could taste words... imagine each dish described as perfection with a sprinkle of perfection. Everything start to finish was a beautiful balance of texture and flavor. The bread, buttery and salty, fluffy as a cloud. The burrata and crab cake... perfect. All the way to the mains, which included the BEST steak I've had in Charlotte yet, was a perfect example of what upscale dining should be. The seating area was comfortable and inviting with a nice medium noise level, loud enough to not be awkwardly silently while eating and nowhere near loud enough that you couldn't hear everyone at your table. Our waiter, Tyler, was absolutely incredible. A true master of his craft and shared a palette similar to ours. His recommendations were spot on with what we were looking for. He was extremely attentive and we were never left wanting more or needing anything. Thank you Tyler, and the entire crew at Deans for making my extremely special night one to remember. We'll be back for sure! Until then, keep being awesome!!

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! The hubby and I came here for Christmas dinner because we wanted to break from tradition. The ambience was great sometimes it is nice to come to a classic restaurant as opposed to a more modern setting. Our waiter was a man named Alex and he was so professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the steak tartare and lobster, they were so good I forgot to take pics, lol! For our main course we had steaks, it seems like a sin to come to an steak house and not get steak. Everything was great, I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
we came here for our anniversary dinner. We didn't have reservations however the wait was only about five minutes or so. We ordered a bottle of wine from their wine list and we also ordered the waygu appetizer where you could get on the coal in front of you, we had the waygu strip, as well as the ribeye both were really good and are served medium rare. The waiter Michael, was attentive, friendly and helpful with suggestions as well. Our bill came to 460 so definitely be ready to spend some money when you come.

Yelp
Very cute, quaint, & centrally located steakhouse where even the menu adds an element of charm through the story on page 1 of how the restaurant came to be. I stopped in for Sunday brunch & was not disappointed at all--in fact, I now credit Dean's for reminding me how incredibly delicious Nutella is. I opted for the Nutella waffle--a healthy dollop of that fabulous spread artfully placed atop a perfectly crisp waffle & accompanied by fresh berries and whipped cream---and a side of bacon. My meal along with Dean's take on an espresso martini gave me all the sweet savory combo vibes that make brunch the best meal of the day in my book. I look forward to returning to check out the dinner lineup. Shout out to Chris S. for the excellent service! Cheers!

Yelp
This is a bar in the jw Marriott hotel. You can tell that everyone is here on a business trip. Business trip prices:) I like their dinner selection, but I'd say the breakfast I pretty weak.

Sabrina B.

Yelp
Service was excellent! The staff was attentive and food was delicious. They gave me a free mimosa for my birthday as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Was staying in the hotel and the rooftop casual place was no longer offering food so headed downstairs to the steakhouse. It was bigger than it looked like from the front. It was a Sunday night at 9pm so it wasn't very busy but service was great. The complimentary bread was delicious, I probably could have just eaten that and been full. Got a petite filet and the Mac and cheese - per usual for all steakhouses sides are "family style" which as someone who travels and eats out frequently alone drives me crazy that I can't get something smaller for just me, just a waste of food. Steak was excellent, cooked perfect, great crust and seasoning. Mac and cheese was good but nothing special - for the two spoonfuls next time I wouldn't bother. if it's just for one stick with the steak and free bread!

Yelp
5 STARS ISN'T HIGH ENOUGH.... I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS PLACE!!! The bread alone was reason enough to go back but the salmon was perfection, the New York strip my dad got was incredible and our waiter, Rich, was so through with explaining the menu since my dad and I were first timers. Highly highly recommend!!

Yelp
I've been here a few times over the course of two years. Last time I came was a week ago to celebrate a federal exam I studied for & passed! It was quite busy, but no worries I had a reservation like sane people do when you patronize an establishment. The service is always immaculate but I really wanted to highlight Jenna, one of the hostess. She was personable, light and very pleasant. Really left an impression on me especially when we only had a 2min interaction versus the time spent with our server. Our server, James was great as well. Attentive, touched the table at the right times, made sure we were comfortable. Food is always divine. It's very consistent everytime I come. The bread. *joyful sigh* the bread, I always get a second round. To me, you're not a real Charlottean if you don't know about Dean's table bread. It's truly the best in the city for me. Overall, great experience, a little loud but that's what I expect on an early Sunday evening. Light energy in the room, well lit, great location. I'll come back of course, I always do! :-)
google avatar

Yelp
I have to say that Dean's was the single best restaurant I have had the pleasure of enjoying in Charlotte. Our server who was also a certified sommelier was absolutely fantastic and pointed us to some incredible wines and food. Prices are expensive but in line with your typical extravagant steakhouse. The steak was beyond the likes of your more typical chains like Ruth Chris and Flemings. Highly recommend if you are willing to spend a bit extra on a high level experience with high level food. Enjoy!

Anji M.

Yelp
We went for brunch today. Ordered the chicken piccata which was described to be served with crispy potatoes. What we got was the chicken piccata with two small broccoli pieces. Nothing was ever told to us that perhaps this was a substitution for the potatoes. So our meal consisted of one small piece of chicken, and that was essentially all. Was not impressed.

Yelp
I recently dined at Dean's Italian Steakhouse, and the experience was nothing short of humiliating. From the moment we sat down, my party and I were treated differently in an obvious and disheartening way. Before we could even order, the waitress insisted on putting a card on file. This was puzzling--and honestly offensive--because I've never heard of being asked for payment before even receiving food at any restaurant. To make matters worse, I noticed the white couple seated next to us were treated with a completely different level of respect and courtesy. They were able to order without any mention of needing to provide a card or prepay. The contrast in treatment was stark and undeniable. This kind of behavior left me feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable, as it was hard not to conclude that this disparity in treatment was because we are people of color. Dining out is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, but this was anything but. I want everyone to know how this establishment treats its guests. It's unacceptable, and I sincerely hope they reevaluate their policies and train their staff to treat all customers with dignity and respect. ---- in reply to Natalie. You especially ignored my mention of the white couple next to us NOT being asked to provide a card on file. They were not even asked. That is what I expect an apology for. Your employees should treat ALL customers the same. But because they were white they weren't asked for payment. We're black girls, SO your white server felt more impelled to press us about a payment. Which we REFUSED to give by the way because this policy is ridiculous and I will not allow anyone to intentionally discriminate against me. I want everyone to know this place WILL stereotype you the moment you walk in the door. I've been dining here for 5 years and never experienced this before, I surly won't be back

Cristina V.

Yelp
Food was delicious and service was great thanks to Michael! Love the decor and vibe in here

Yelp
This place is great for date night, girls night, family night etc. You will have to pay for parking. The beautiful chic restaurant is located in a hotel. My friend and I sat at the bar. The bartender took great care of us. I forgot his name but he was Caucasian very handsome with tattoos, so look out for him because you will receive great customer service. We had some drinks and ordered some food which was amazing. I had a salad and my friend had salmon. I will definitely be back!!!
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
Went for a date night and our server was very friendly. Nice environment and ambiance, but nothing that stands out too much. Our raw bar oysters and crab, and the bread was probably our favorite items. I ordered the Wagyu Bolognese, and the server told me it wasn't a traditional Bolognese, and he was right. My boyfriend ordered the bone in filet and he enjoyed it. I feel like I would return here for a happy hour or Small bites, but not sure I will be rushing back for a full meal. Not bad, just not outstanding from other selections in the same price range.

Yelp
WOW ! first off wow the bartender KAT. Was awesome ! We loved her energy and kindness! She was patient we were patient it was a great fit . The food ... stop it ! why was this so good ? the meatballs were awesome ( you can checkin in on yelp and get them FOR FREE!) ! The food didn't take long and it was sooooo friggin good . The music was HOT and Groovy ! I mean just very pleased with this dinner tonight :) Definitely coming back ! Sam and I loved it and Kat the bartender made it extremely comfortable it was like having a personal chef cook/ make drinks in front of you at home . I know she didn't cook but she made it comfy !! "Thumbs the fuck up "-Sam haha.

Yelp
*Lunch specific review* What a nice place for a special occasion lunch!! Dean's is such a lovely environment with friendly and attentive staff. The prices are extremely reasonable and about what I would pay at some of my go to lunch places. We got the mushroom pizza, Italian salad and burrata - ALL DELICIOUS!!

Latoya H.

Yelp
Came here for my sister in laws birthday last week. We had a reservation so there was no wait time. The food was phenomenal! We split the ribeye and I got the buccatini- sooo delicious. Our server was amazing as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Talk about a winner! This dinner was everything! I had a perfect to temperature steak, wonderful sides and an amazing Tiramisu for dessert. We spent about $100 per person, but had so much food to share. They even made an off menu dish for my daughter and brought her a few cookies for dessert. The vibe is very low key, jazz music in the back ground and low lighting. Tyler was our server, and he was amazing, if you ever go, be sure to ask for him.
google avatar

Yelp
Working uptown Deans is a great option for a nice lunch. My husband and I went for our anniversary over lunch and were seated right away. The ambiance is very modern. We ordered the lunch special -- $35 for two courses. I got the lobster soup and salmon dish and my husband got the Caesar and chicken. We would have loved to have bread at the beginning of the meal, but I think that might only be something they do at dinner. We ended up passing on dessert, but it would have been a nice touch if Deans did something for our special occasion (which they might just do at dinner). Overall we really enjoyed our lunch!
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
On a recent visit, we stopped by for lunch. We were sad that the pizza oven was down so we couldn't try those. Instead we went for a salad, a Caesar with chicken with some anchovies too. It was a solid example though the chicken was cooked just a little too long for my taste. Service was terrific and attentive with water refilled without asking. It's a nice hotel interior and overall, it was a solid place to eat.
google avatar

Gina R.

Yelp
Amazing! One of the best steakhouses I have been to! The ambience and food were outstanding! But I have to say, our waiter, Michael was really great! I could not believe he had only been working at Dean's for a short time. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and had a wonderful disposition! I will definitely be back the next time I visit Charlotte!
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
Deans is one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte. Better bring your wallet because they'll drain you quick. Every single thing I ate was so mouth watering. I went the seafood route and to my surprise, they serve more than steak! Our server was on point offering us helpful suggestions and kept the table clean. The vibes were great and it was an awesome date night for us. Deans is located in the bottom of the JW Marriott, so you can go up to Caroline's or the rooftop after to enjoy the rest of your night. Great spot. You'll stomach will love ya and your wallet will hate ya.

Yelp
Like a boss! This place delivers!! I had a lunch meeting on a Tuesday and it wasn't packed but it was busy. This is not a quick in/out lunch option but rather sit and talk and drink and talk some more option. Very upscale, not quite fine dining for lunch anyway. They have a lunch special option which is great. I decided to go with the wedge salad and added the salmon and red wine vinaigrette dressing. Our server, Rafael, was on point throughout our meal, available but not intrusive. I thought it was very odd they didn't have any soda options during lunch. Huh, you mean I can't get a diet coke??? Parking is a bit of a challenge. You park in the Ally Bank deck which also serves the JW Marriott Hotel. I had to go to the fifth floor to find a spot. It was $10 bucks an hour, is that pricey for uptown? I was there for an hour and five minutes and they got me for another $10 bucks for that additional 5 minutes!! Dean's doesn't validate parking. The Host said: "sorry sir, we don't own the parking deck".
google avatar

Walter B.

Yelp
Of course! Here's the review without those mentions: "I recently dined at Dean's Italian Steakhouse, and I was beyond impressed. The atmosphere was upscale yet inviting, creating the perfect setting for an amazing evening. Our server, Shawn, was a standout--he was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. Every course we had.. the food was beyond phenomenal. Was awesome to celebrate a Panthers win with an awesome steak and homemade pasta. Will certainly be back for sure!
google avatar

Antoinette G.

Yelp
Disappointing dinner and drinks here. First, the outside patio is nice--that is where we ate. Our server seemed hurried the entire time we were there. Not personal at all. Cocktails are very expensive and unfortunately not good. Food taste was fine, but for the high price and service, I suggest going somewhere else.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
We had a table of five , first time dining here. The food was not as expected! My husband was served a spoiled lobster tail and I mean it was mushy and so gross I cannot believe a chief would even send this dish out, It took another 15 minutes to replace it. The lobster bisque was awful with literally a teaspoon of lobster in it. Waiter was nice but service was very slow, Oscar filet was covered with a overwhelming thick heavy gravy like sauce with crab meat. The billionaire potato was awful. I don't mind spending money on great food but this was very disappointing and would not return.
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
I loved every single aspect of my dining experience with Dean's! This was my first visit, had friends in town. We all loved it. I've been trying to figure if there was a better steak anywhere that I've dined before. I can't think of anywhere that topped this. I had lobster bisque and the Dean's filet with a side of mushrooms. Even the dinner rolls were amazing lol. The filet was so tender, I probably could have cut it with a butter knife! Can't wait to go back. This will be a place I dine for years to come. Service was fantastic! The ambiance was great for an outing with friends, date night and special celebrations. I would love to come back next year for my birthday.
google avatar

Monica M.

Yelp
Restaurant is at the bottom of JW marriot hotel. Not too bad. Service is kind of slow and it could be a bit cleaner. Food was okay. Went here for breakfast and for dinner. Drinks were super strong, just like I like it. Pizza was delicious and so was the breakfast egg, bacon and fontina sandwich I had. Tuna crudo definitely wasn't fresh and you could taste it in the fish. Didn't finish that dish sadly. Ambiance was okay, for dinner we sat at the bar and it was super busy, so it was a lot of commotion. Breakfast was definitely more quiet and a vibe. I'm sure it's a fun place for brunch!

Yelp
A popular downtown destination for business travelers and special celebrations. So, I've been to this steakhouse about 5 times while staying as a guest at the JW Marriott. Why then would I give it just 2 stars? The stars are for the ambiance, the cleanliness, and the wait staff. The staff are impeccably trained for service. They are attentive and friendly. They give you 5 star service each and every time. Although reservations are preferred they will sit walk ins quickly with a smile. The tables are set with clean fresh linen and the glasses and silverware are spotless. The clean and inviting ambiance is both elegant and modern and the kitchen and grill are visible at the back of the restaurant with a very professional cook staff, all dressed in clean whites and blacks. There is an excitement to the environment and it's clear that the staff are proud of what they do and what they have to offer. The food is very expensive, not obscenely expensive but pricey, as a nice dinner for two with a couple of cocktails can be about $300 with tax and tip. The staff is so friendly and professional (and in more expensive restaurants that's not always something you can say in the same breath) it's hard not to give them the max tip which I have always done at this restaurant. Now for the food. My husband is a steak man. Given any choice of two or more foods he will always choose steak. He always also chooses the highest quality steak available. I also enjoy steak but I like the vegetable sides as well. When you order the steak, there are no sides. Just steak. It's the focal point of the whole dinner and reasonable to expect that if all you get is steak at $80-90 a plating that this should meet your expectations of a gorgeous mouthwatering steak. My... steak... expectations...have...never... been... met. The steak is always always always always always overcooked. I gave it 5 ALWAYS because that's how many times I've tried. We thought in this town, for these prices, and for the foot traffic this steakhouse gets, this is the best you can get in Charlotte (soooo wrong on this-- see my other steakhouse review). Plus, when you're a guest at a hotel and you've just had a long plane flight and you've subsisted on airline fare, all you want to do is have a solid meal and sleep. Usually when you're that hungry, everything tastes good. Each time I've gone back I've tried different cuts: The big meaty Rib Eye (good God, people how can anyone ruin a juicy rib eye and make it not so juicy!?), the petite cut steak, the New York Strip, etc. I usually order medium rare and each time I cut into the first dry bite of every steak I've tried, I keep cutting through the steak to hopefully find the juicy center and I never find it. One time, in disgust, I sent my large rib eye back. I had ordered the biggest cut because I'd figured they couldn't possibly overcook every part of that large a cut but they did). They offered to redo it so I asked that they perhaps cook it rare to medium rare and that time, the outside was cooked, but the center was cool....like they had taken it out of the cooler and not allowed it to reach room temperature before again overcooking it on the outside. We finally tried one last time and my New York strip was again unpalatable with overcooking. Let me describe my medium rare: It was slightly charred on the outside (not always a bad thing if the center is tender and juicy). Warm to touch on the outside. My medium rare for the first 5 cuts was medium well to well done with no bounce to the meat when a fork is pressed against the cut end, and minimal to no juice with each cut. There was no steam or heat coming from the meat. The inner part of the meat was cooked at a firm medium. The flavor was bland and it was over salted. I suspect they must keep the meat under heat lamps while the dishes wait to be picked up by staff or their idea of a medium rare is not the same as most restaurants: I was so unhappy with my steak and so reluctant to send back yet another meal that I just sat there and picked at my $80 steak complaining bitterly to my husband which has basically ended our trial and error days at Dean's Steakhouse. If you want to go somewhere special for a dinner date or a business meet up, Deans is the right place to go. I think the prices reflect the experience. Just don't order the steak.

Yelp
Ugh Deans....I loved it here. Came to Charlotte for a birthday weekend and booked here for dinner. This place was the best! Ambiance was soooo good. Quentin, our waiter, was the best and made sure to take care of us! We even bonded over the fact that we are both trumpet players! I decided on the lobster rigatoni and it didn't disappoint! Received the limoncello pie to end off the night which was also delicious. I can't say enough amazing things about Deans! I for sure will be back!!

Yelp
Where do I start? I had an amazing time at Deans and I cannot wait to return. I made a reservation and when we arrived we were quickly seated in the dining room. Our server Omar promptly came to greet us, and he was awesome - very helpful and friendly. I started things off by ordering a pecan old fashioned and my mom got Riesling. The old fashioned was good, would have been even better if I had stirred the contents so the sugar wasn't at the bottom! Lol The wedge salad came highly recommended by our server Omar. It did not disappoint!! I am not one to order a wedge like ever, but this was the best wedge I've tasted. The flavor combos were in point and it had just the right amount of dressing, bacon, tomatoes. Goodness I'm craving one right now. If you want a starter salad definitely order this. For my entree I got the Wagyu bolognese and wow was it amazing. The wagyu was super tender and the portion was big. I was happy to have some to take as leftovers. I was enjoying myself so much I even ordered dessert. Limoncello pie was good, but very tart. I probably wouldn't order it again for that reason but otherwise I enjoyed it. I can't say enough about the awesome service and the attention to detail. This is a great restaurant for a date night, girls night or just because. Parking is attached but about $10. They also have an option to valet. There's a huge patio attached with nice views of uptown activity. I'll be back.

Yelp
Food: branzino, pork chop bone in, crab cake and the bread pudding were the stars. The cream of spinach has no taste, the tuna crudo was missing a little sauce maybe?! The tiramisu, was less than okay. Service: our server was fantastic. Sadly the fire alarm went off during our main course, so it threw things off. They offered to remake our dishes but be has eaten about half. They were nice about the incident and gave us complementary dessert. Ambiance: my third time there, abs I really enjoy this place. They have good drinks, some delish food and good coffees as week.

Yelp
What an absolute gem this place is! I came in recently on a date night and it was everything we were hoping for. The restaurant is located in the beautiful JW Marriott Hotel on Brooklyn Village Ave one of Uptown Charlotte's most bustling corridors. The restaurant has a dignified and elegant air to it but doesn't feel overly stuffy. The lights are low and the music played is a combination of crooners and jazz which gives off an intimate old school vibe. The servers are very attentive and knowledgeable, happy to give out recommendations from food to wine. For appetizers we started off with the wagyu meatballs, and the burrata. Even before these courses came the free bread which was very buttery and soft, practically melted in your mouth. Finally for my steak I went with the Dean's Style Filet medium rare. The steak cut like butter and was seasoned and salted perfectly! The béarnaise sauce it came it was out of this world and they even include a buttered lobster claw on top for hood measure. Charlotte has a decent amount of steakhouses to choose from, but if you are making plans for a special evening, you would do yourself a disservice to not consider Deans Italian Steakhouse. The food, service, and ambience all surpassed my expectations and I am now a fan for life.
