Tuesday is Sub Day. Wow. How has it taken me a year to find the DIB? I've worked in Dearborn since last December and seem to fall back into the same patterns and chasing down places with the best coupons. At the DIB there is no need for coupons. Tuesday is sub day. $3.49 for a 6in and $6.99 for a 12in sub, which includes a 16oz fountain pop.
I just smashed the #3 meatball sub and as Jim Ross would say for all your wrestling fans, "MY GAWD, MY GAWD. HE HIT HIM WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!!" Well all of that applies accept for the steel chair portion. When the guy (presumably an owner, owners son, whatever) behind the counter handed me my subs, he said "enjoy, they are the best subs goin'," man he wasn't kidding. The meatballs and sauce were homemade, I believe the sub buns are homemade and combined with the melted mozzarella this was bar none the best meatball sub I've ever had...BOOOO YAAAA my day is complete.
Since I'm an aspiring fat guy, I also went with a 6in Italian sub. A dessert if you will. Man it did not disappoint either. Not the GOAT, absolutely worth eating again. The homemade italian dressing was off the chain though. With each sub you can choose your bread, toppings and sauce/dressing if you want something other than how it's listed.
There are other aspects to the DIB like the bakery, deli counter, imported foods etc., but I didn't sample any of those. Strictly subs on this visit. I did howerver spy some delicious meat lasgasna for $2.79 a serving that was freshly made and set out as I was in line. I will be more than tempted to roll a 6in sub and fat piece of lasgasna on my next visit. If you can't tell I'm really happy right now. I feel like I just met my soulmate...if soulmates could be meatballs.
