I worked across the street in the food manufacturing company itself for around two and a half months, hired through the Dearborn sausage company as a full time employee not temporarily or part time and I’m also signed up with the union and the union have taken money from my checks. Today I literally got fired by HR for absolutely no reason other than, they want to lower the number of employees at this time the beginning of a new year and work goes from 6 days to 4 days. They pretty much fired around half of the employees on my shift the afternoon shift for this reason as well and unsurprisingly they are mostly Hispanic, black and middle eastern, I am middle eastern which I think is discrimination and completely unjust, we were told to re apply after 90 days. I literally worked extremely strenuously hard in this company and had perfect attendance working up to 10 and a half hours a day and 6 days a week with the full permission of my manager and the sanitation manager and i would also do any favor the managers asked me to do and I helped everyone there when the work would be low and I finish early, I am always helpful, being extremely friendly and nice to all my coworkers, my manager Carol is literally the best manager I’ve ever had, she’s very nice, fair and helpful. She almost cried when she told me she had to let me go and she couldn’t do anything about it, it was a decision from HR and so I think that it’s totally unfair to fire many employees when there’s low work just because the company haven’t even given us as employees the opportunity to complete 90 days in the company as this is intentional, I was also told that they fire many employees at Christmas and new years time I’ve been here for two and a half months and I was hopefully planning to stay working here for years! What will they do next year if others and I are hired back in? Fire others and I again before completing the 90 days required to get hired in that’s very unjust and makes absolutely no sense at all! I can’t even receive unemployment compensation or anything and I have payments and bills to pay and I have to go home and explain to my poor family why I and many others have been fired for this reason and I have to desperately find another job! This has made me feel very distressed. This is how Dearborn sausage treats most of their hard working employees! Does the owner know about this treatment from HR? Maybe he does know just like he knows about the black mold growing all over the walls and ceilings of the manufacturing facility. I have contacted a very good wrongful termination lawyer and we will go from there.
