"The Sparks family has served their signature longburgers at this Gresham institution since the 1950s. These long rectangular beef patties, charred on a screaming hot griddle and placed on Dea’s own fresh-baked buns, are topped with the classic mix of shredded lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and Russian dressing. They come wrapped in paper and placed in a bag for easy car eating. Dea’s has a drive-thru window, for ease of order." - Rachel Pinsky, Eater Staff

"A Gresham fixture for more than 50 years, this counter-service diner with a drive-thru closed the main restaurant for renovations during the pandemic but opened an outdoor patio and spruced up the bar where a full menu is served, including breakfast. But most people come for the nostalgic fare like Dea’s signature longburgers with rectangular hamburger patties on soft buns. Don’t forget an order of fried mushrooms, coated in onion ring batter, and a milkshake in a lesser-seen flavor like peanut butter, root beer, or pineapple." - Krista Garcia, Janey Wong

Known for their long burger, this is a great place with a chill vibe. If you’re here on a Tuesday definitely get a taco or three! Been here a few times and all the food has been good! There are two lounge areas one with outdoor seating and they also have a drive thru. Good place to meet up with friends or conduct a little business.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Incredible! Dea’s has truly stepped it up! The food is next-level — I had the long burger and was blown away by the quality. The buns are baked fresh daily, and you can taste it!! Soft, warm, and perfect. The Dea’s Sauce? A total game-changer. Think fry sauce… but better. 10/10 Recommend ! And the new remodel? Stunning. While it’s a big change from the classic 1950s Dea’s Diner vibe, the updated look brings a fresh energy that’s so inviting. I highly recommend checking it out — it’s a whole new experience in the best way! 👏🍔

Google
Five Stars! Dea’s has such a great family atmosphere! Super friendly service, clean space, and cool diner vibes. The food was seriously delicious—my daughter said the chili dog was the best she’s ever had! We all loved our meals, and the soft serve was fantastic too. But honestly, my favorite part was the service. The genuine gratitude they showed for our family dining in was so heartwarming. It made us feel truly welcome and excited to come back. Highly recommend—five stars from us!

My husband was in the mood for a burger but not necessarily fast food. Found this place on Google, so we decided to go. At first, I was not impressed with the environment, but we sat to order. There was only one waitress. She was friendly and attentive. There was only one other couple at the time. When we left, another couple had arrived, and a gentleman was sitting at the bar area eating and talking to the waitress. We hadn't received the check, so we got up to go to the bar area to pay. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Not your typical burger style. The bread was more if a hoagie type. Nonetheless it was delicious as were the fries. My husband ordered the fried mushrooms and although mushrooms aren't really my favorite these were quite good. Maybe we it was the batter and the fact that they were fried 🤔 but I ate 3after my first tiny taste. My husband absolutely loved it. We were too full to go to the donut barn across the street but that also looked tempting.

Google
This is a hidden little gem. I have driven by many times over the years and decided to give it a try. First the food came out for three people all at once and was fresh, hot and tasty. The service was superb. This place has been here since 1953. I will go back. Not family friendly after 9pm. Clean restaurant/sports bar..

Google
Food was amazing, my sister and I got the classic long burgers and a long dog to share. Our server, Melissa, was super kind. She treated us like we were her friends and was joking with us every time she talked with us, but still gave us our space to enjoy our food. We came in at a low time so there was nearly no people and I thought the whole experience was very enjoyable.

Google
Kicked off Burger week this evening with Dea’s. We’d never been here before and were stoked that we had this great excuse to try it. It was so good! Jalapeño bacon jammin burger for eight bucks?! Heck yeah! We sprung for the combo for $11.50. We’re looking forward to coming back to try the Longburger and Mac n cheese and to make use of the patio out back :) Update: back for more. Wonderful staff. Great promotions. And we won the football raffle too!

Google
Our first time back since remodel, what a difference. Food was hot, good and came out fast. I had the deluxe chicken burger with onion rings. Chicken was hot and juicy. Good size too. My husband had stumpy burger and fries. Price seemed reasonable to us.

Yelp
I love this place. Girl on drive thru always makes me the best shakes and remembers my order every time I swing through. Thanks doll much love

Yelp
A classic food spot in Gresham. I still drive over from Washougal to have a long burger. Service is good.

Don M.

Yelp
Great service in back bar. Mac & cheese is amazing. Will be sam0ling the rest of the menu soon. Have driven by this place for 30 years and finally d3cided to stop in and try it out. Wish we'd stopped 30 years ago now.

CRAIG N.

Yelp
I had a review up here from the last time I came in. That was 12 years ago and the review was not good to say the least. Dea's has since renovated and is under new ownership. The entire building is updated and MUCH cleaner! Now on to the food! Well where do I start? The food is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Had a special they had going that was a Reuben sandwich and added Cajun tots. AMAZING! Also ordered a 1/2 pound of mango habanero wings. AMAZING!! Barry our bartender is very attentive and accommodating. Drinks and beer were always full. Will/would I come back? ABSOFREAKINLOUTLEY!!!!!! I would hands down recommend anyone to hit up Dea'swhen they get a chance!

Yelp
I haven't been here for a few years but I had been a regular for almost 50 years. I had to try the long burger. I think it's the best one that I've had in a long time. Very much like the ones that I had when they were good. The staff is very nice and service was great. The remodel changed the atmosphere, but I think it is an improvement. The place is clean. The TV's are a great addition, and the seating is comfortable. All good, I will be putting them back into my rotation.

Kyla Jo B.

Yelp
Great food and service! Fairly priced too! I do feel like their menu is smaller now that they redid the place but still great!

S B.

Yelp
Biscuits and Gravy...say no more. This was a prefect mixture of all the flavors. Enjoyed every bite.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I'm giving 3 stars because I don't want you to think it's fancy. It's not. But it's clean, the food is really good and everything seems brand new. I'm eating in at the Lucky D's side with my son. It's basically a bar you can bring your kids into. I'm not offended by the bar banter but it's not for the church crowd. This might be my new place, still don't have a napkin but I think I can coach this bartender up

Jami E L.

Yelp
I had a very pleasant experience at Dea's In & Out tonight ! Service was amazing and everybody was so friendly :)) the food is amazing, you HAVE to try the spring rolls and the salmon dip !! It may not be a diner up front anymore but the atmosphere is more than welcoming !! It's all the experience of a downtown bar without leaving Gresham :) and just FYI Dea's In and Out is not Dead the drive through and back bar are still up and rolling ! They Just gave the front a new life and a new name !!

Bill L.

Yelp
I ate there 2x a month for years. They have "redefined" themselves, and I don't like it at all. Inside, it's dark, not family friendly. Food is a little better than 3 months ago. Burger=acceptable. Fries = acceptable. But the restaurant was so cold that I froze - and my party agreed that it was WAY too cold. Wait staff was apathetic, and mostly ignored us. We were about the only people there, on a Thursday. I won't go back, I think. I don't like their new vision for themselves. I'll go to Polar King on Powell.

Brad D.

Yelp
Dea's is my favorite burger place in Gresham and the surrounding area!! Amazing burgers, awesome fried mushrooms and onion rings! Great service, cool back, outside area for a cold beverage and game watching. I love this place!

Marcus L.

Yelp
My experience here was amazing! I went here at 7:00 on a Friday and it surprisingly wasn't super busy, the food was amazing and the service was incredible, Barry was an amazing server and I highly recommend this place

Sterling P.

Yelp
We were surprised that the main seating area was under construction, per the below picture. We were directed to another door around the corner. Cute little bar with lots of big screen TV's. Clean and welcoming! Very personable bartender/waiter! We both had their famous "long burger" and fries! Very average, maybe below average, fry's we're just fry's but the sauce was excellent. The best thing about the whole experience was the root beer milkshake. "Jim Dandy's " is hands down a way better burger joint all the way around. Inexpensive but not great! Wouldn't recommend it for food. Maybe this will improve with the remodel, probably not.

Yelp
Sadly is not the same Dea's it used to be. Onion rings are breaded & like eating card board - unlike the lightly coated crispy onion rings they used to make. No more home baked burger buns - are now serving a dried out card board style bun that matches the onion rings. Family friendly front dining area gone & replaced with a horseshoe shaped counter focused on alcoholic drinks. Booths & tables & chairs & ambiance is like a strip club atmosphere - maybe those will be next. I'd never take children or grandchildren there now. The back bar & gambling area was enlarged & is more tolerable if you're an adult. French fries have not been good or fresh made for years & that hasn't changed for the better. Crinkle fries instead of the thin, short, frozen & fried style fries served now. The drive thru employees try to charge higher prices than what is stated on the drive thru menu board. I take a pic with my cell phone to prove what the posted price is - otherwise they play dumb & insist it's a higher price with no proof as to why they insist the price is higher than posted. ALWAYS check the bag before you drive away cuz you can never trust that all you ordered is in the bag. I suspect they do cook it but eat it themselves. Is very very sad to see how the quality, honesty & family friendly fun place to go has disappeared. You could always rely on excellent food & excellent customer service - but not any more - especially via the drive thru & front bar atmosphere area.

Yelp
Dea's in &out is now lucky Ds . A bar and grill. service was ok definitely not a family restaurant anymore wouldn't advise taking your family with kids cuz now front and back is a bar and the patrons in the supposedly family side bar people are loud and swearing cussing that's no place for kids they changed the meat it's not like it used to be unfortunately deas in and out is now dead welcome to Lucky D'S bar and grill. We won't be back there. It was very disappointing

Kaylie B.

Yelp
Dea's use to be my favorite breakfast joint. My grandparents have eaten here for 30+ years ... since the new owner took over the place has really gone down hill. For anyone wondering why this place took a turn for the worse?? New owner.

T B.

Yelp
Yes we absolutely will, thank you so much for responding and that makes total sense! Your ice cream is the best in Gresham!!!

Nicole S.

Yelp
We tried Dea's for the first time last night, I had been craving a cheeseburger and wanted to try Dea's for a little while now. We went through the drive thru as that is what's open with COVID going on. Ordered 2 Double Long Cheeseburgers and a small fry. The burgers were pretty good, reminded me of a place I used to go to as a kid. The price was just a bit more than I had expected. The food was decent, quite a bit of salt on the fries, but still satisfying. Really looking forward to trying one of the milkshakes. Glad to help support local businesses in these tough times!

Chris T.

Yelp
If you're a local and you think you know all the great spots to go get a great meal in Gresham and you don't have Dea's In and out at the top of your list, you may want to rethink your life's choices. My wife and I were trying to figure out a good place to grab breakfast/lunch after church today. I had heard the place was bought and was extremely renovated. When we looked them up we saw a mix of information that wasn't clear about what was what. One review said the place didn't open until 11:00 but if you wanted a burger you had to wait until 12:00 before you could order one, and various other weird things. However everyone had good reports about the food and the newly remodeled restaurant, so we decided to give them a try. That was our best decision of 2024 so far!!!! When we got there we were greeted by a wonderful young lady that was genuinely happy to see us and said we were welcome to sit wherever we liked. We chose one of the new plush booths. I am a big guy and I don't typically choose a booth option because I often don't fit. That is not the case here. The booths are huge and extremely comfortable. When we ordered I was pleased to see that they had most of Dea's iconic dishes like the long burgers. I didn't waste any time pondering what I was having for lunch, double long cheese burger with tots for me, and my wife have the chicken sandwich. We decided to order an order of their hand-dipped onion rings. OMG these were the best onion rings in the city hands down!!! The burger was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. My wife's chicken sandwich was very good with fresh ingredients. We had already determined that we would be back next week to try something else from the menu. Their breakfasts look delicious! I can't wait to go back next week. We are definitely going to try one of those huge homemade cinnamon rolls! Ok so here's the deal they opened at 9am on Sunday and close around 9pm. I'm not sure the other hours on the other days but I know they are open for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. You should go check out this place. It truly didn't d

Robert K.

Yelp
Love this place !!! Longburger is a great option Shakes always a must Patio is open for summer

Susan R.

Yelp
The restaurant section is now opened. It's not the same as it use to be. It's a bar restaurant now. Not sure if I'd bring children in. The food was ok. The fry sauce has changed. Not a fan! The server was very good an nice. We won't be back though..

Rick H.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 50 years for really good hamburgers and fries. I stopped by the drive through today for 2 long burgers and a large fry. After a 30 minutes wait in line with only 3 cars in front of me I received my order. Got a small fry instead of the large which was cold and hard! The burgers were also cold with stale bun's. We called the restaurant to complain and were told they were short on staff which many restaurants are in these times. I asked why the food was so cold which is not a staffing issue since we were at the window waiting for our food to be cooked fo 10 out of the 30 minutes. Their excuse was they precook all their food and reheat it to order. The meat in the burger and the fry's appeared to be sitting around for a long time before an attempt to reheat that didn't work. After taking a bite we through it all in the garbage which is were it belonged.

J L.

Yelp
Would not rate any star. OMG..This is the worst hamburger I've had at this estabishment. Soo salty and can't taste the special sauce. Has ownership/management changed? Last order was off too. NOT GOING TO BUY from THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN!!!

Crystal R.

Yelp
we have been waiting through the Covid situation for Dee's to reopen. they took advantage of the situation to remodel. great timing on their part. well they finally reopened. was so excited. walked in and it has changed. in my opinion not for the better. most of the booths are gone and VERY much a BAR atmosphere. not the mom and pop 50's burger shop. food was still good but I don't want lunch in a bar. sorry

Brandi E.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 40 plus years for context. I think something has changed, the meat seems different and so did the bun so be aware- it might not be what you expect or remember it to be. Out of curiosity I was going to call and ask. I read it may have changed owners.

Anthony C.

Yelp
This place has been around for years and my parents ate here when they were growing up. I love this place, not only for its vintage nostalgic look, but also for its commitment to keep its originality and spirit. Their rectangle burgers almost resemble subs, but not. The taste is delicious and their special sauce also is what makes it a smacker. The service is good and always coming to the table to check on customers. You can find parking of course as they have a lot and prices are reasonable.

Joshua L.

Yelp
Me and my fiancee work late hours, and were looking for a place to grab a bite that was still open. This diner popped up on one of our searches and we decided to give it a shot rather than searching for any longer. First impressions were rough. It felt as if it was in the process of transitioning from "homey diner" to run down. The carpets and roof were stained and the booths have that cracked leather feel which could be taken either way. Not wanting to go back to searching, we sat down as there was no sign to indicate ordering at the counter. After sitting for several minutes without a menu or drinks, we eventually made our way to the counter to see what was up. We found most of the workers huddled in the back, which we just attributed to them not hearing us walk in on an otherwise quiet night. The menu is otherwise stock standard of any diner, with burgers, fries, and other diner favorites like chicken strips, fish and chips and more. Me and my fiancee both got chicken strips with a side of onion rings. I don't think I've ever had more obviously frozen deep fried food before. The onion rings had a hot batter but cold center. The chicken strips were decent but definitely did not stand out in terms of flavor or texture.

Amy Y.

Yelp
Haven't eaten here since high school. Still just as good as I remember it. Good, friendly service. Tho I chose to do the drive thru rather than dining in. Had a mini long. No pic to share :(

Mark M.

Yelp
My daughter and I are trying out the different burger drive-in's around the Portland metro. The onion rings were smashed at the bottom of the bag. We ordered 3 long burgers with bacon and cheese. None of them had bacon. Drove 20min home before we found out. Not worth going back to get fixed. The burgers were meh. We will not return. Mike's Drive-in still holds the crown.

Sherri B.

Yelp
the best milkshakes in town. we usually do the drive thru and last night was the first time sitting inside. we ordered a long burger and a mushroom burger with fries and tots. our order came out quickly despite it being very busy inside. the drive thru line was long as well. all if the staff was friendly and polite, welcoming any questions. my fries were perfectly crisp. I think it's the last place in town to get a mushroom burger and it was delicious. my compliments to the kitchen staff. they were busy and the bar was full of people ordering food. all of it came out very quickly. I watched that more than the Canadian football my husband was watching. as we were leaving our kids texted and asked for fries and a shake so we hit the drive thru line. we were greeted with more friendly employees. it was quick and efficient and the best, friendly service. I highly recommend the shakes. best in town, extra thick and creamy.

DaeNyte W.

Yelp
Super good burger and the crew still served me and they closed at 9:00pm. I was in the driveway at like 8:59p. Definitely going back here to order more stuff. It looks closer but I kept seeing people driving in and out of that place. I knew it had to be an unknown secret and glad I rolled by to find out!

Soni K.

Yelp
I was here on a Memorial day and the special was blue, red and white waffles. Sounded delicious but sadly I didn't order that because the menu had so many other tempting choices. We decided on a chicken fried steak, steak and eggs and the french toast. Everything was simply marvelous and the crispy but tender hash browns were the best!!! Our server was sweet and she basically helped me decide on the chicken fried steak, which I will definitely come back for. She was very friendly and efficient while she seemed to be overloaded with many other tables. The place simply has good food and is priced very affordable. Wish I could eat here every day...

Moe W.

Yelp
Very disappointed in Deas and what they have become,I stopped in tonight at about 7:00pm and was going to order a chocolate ice cream cone medium. The sign said small cone $2.50 medium cone $2.75 and large cone for $3:00. The girl at the window said that will be $3.00,I told her the sign for the medium cone clearly states $2.75 ,she said cost all went up.I said forget it then , I had the money but now it's a matter of principle, can you imagine letting a customer walk because of $.25 they're clearly making too much money there

Jordan S.

Yelp
An older spot that is charming, but a little dated. Service is always fine and the food is consistently good. Fries are crisp and salty, burgers are always delicious. Their chicken strips are my favorite in the area as well. Their prices are a little high, but they are a long-time local small business and I am okay paying a little more to support this wonderful, little business!

Kristine K.

Yelp
Tried to order fries with shredded cheese and was told unable to do so because they don't have a button...... charge me for cheese and fries uhm we can't do that unless it's a burger ok give me chili fries no chili... took my business to Wendy's ordered the same thing no questions asked..maybe that's why small businesses are struggling and corporate America is taking over,a line around the building and deas had none in a lunch rush

Shirlee H.

Yelp
Sure disappointed with food yesterday. I have loved Dea's my whole life, but I doubt I'll eat there again. I won't waste too much time on details but it was the worst burger I've had in a very long time. Fries were barely warm, tasted like old oil.. I just felt so sad, what's happened?

Thomas S.

Yelp
I'm from out of town and had been asking my coworkers for a mom and pop restaurant and they told me about Dean's. Great food I was very impressed.

Andrea G.

Yelp
We returned to the bar after a year and several months ago. The new owners have done a fantastic job remodeling the bar area and restrooms. Very friendly owner, Sammy, who was running the bar and telling us about the new updates. Glad the partners have invested in this Gresham treasure from so many decades and are honoring Dea Sparks and family in the process. The food is great. Of course we'll be back.

Shelby L.

Yelp
My fiance and I recently visited for lunch on a Sunday and had a wonderful experience. Grilled cheese, long burger, fries and sodas. All of these things were to our liking. The were full of flavor, nothing was over or under cooked and the portions were great for the price. The fries were crisp and salty and their fry sauce paired well with it. The service was perfectly OK since all we really did was order at the counter and wait. The place is old and a little dingy but not gross by any means, simply outdated. I have nothing to complain about and honestly can't wait to return!

Mike D.

Yelp
food and service was very good. the bar has a great atmosphere. great spot to hang out

Stan S.

Yelp
We had this place as a go-to for burgers and fries for many years. Recent ownership change, and many things have gotten worse. I think they changed their beef supplier and it's awful! Got two longburgers today and neither me nor my wife could eat them! Tasted like spoiled meat! We won't be back unless we hear back about improvements!

Beth H.

Yelp
After being out of state a few years, we made it back and decided to give our old favorite another chance. Not sure what happened while we were away, but I'm glad it did. The service is back. I got my long burger with tots and fry sauce and a Vanilla Coke and I was taken back to younger days. Keep up the good work.

Kal C.

Yelp
Just a couple highlights: Hair and funk on our cup. Long burger patties are precooked and therefore the patty was COLD when served. Table was sticky and filthy. Not the kind of filthy from not wiping after a recent customer, the kind of filthy that takes years to accumulate PLUS poor cleaning before seating. Dirty place overall. Attitude if you bring anything to their attention. Not good.

Vickie S.

Yelp
Had wonderful food and great service. A fabulous environment that was so welcoming, server Destiny was so lovely. Dined in the lounge. Highly recommend this place!!!

Chris B.

Yelp
Disappointed. I grew up with Deas. Best burgers ever. I have always missed them since I havnt lived in the area for years. Whenever I am in the area I make a point to stop by. I haven't been there in a few years. What happened?! Burger had no flavor.bun was horrible. Dry fell apart. I used to like having the burger and asked onions or no onions.now it comes with stuff which is fine but not the same and no sauce. Drive through took 25 minutes. It made me sad. I was so excited, all I could think about was getting a long burger. Not the same...

Bruce K.

Yelp
Best food in town always fresh food great milkshakes employees are very nice and helpful the cook is one of the best you can get food from the drive through we use to eat lunch here back in High School every day for years and still eat here

Creative F.

Yelp
We used to come here almost every month! The food does not disappoint! Highly recommended coming here! My order was correct, and got the right toppings on the burgers. Keep going, I'm glad to see this place still open!

Sarah M.

Yelp
If you're looking for the old Dea's that used to be wonderful, you're going to be disappointed. Dry, tasteless burgers with wilted lettuce that seemed to have been made hours before we ordered. Fries from the bottom of the bag, tiny little bits tasting almost rancid, probably old oil. We won't be returning. Apparently there's a new owner. What a loss for Gresham.

John E.

Yelp
I gave up a long time ago trying to find a substitute for In N Out Burger when I moved up here in 1996. Some things are not able to be duplicated. I have to say that I never talked myself into this place being a clone for the fabled franchise either. However I kept hearing that this place was a good and that it had a certain charm and history. Those things are unfortunately lost on me. After a rigorous afternoon of trying to fill up the Sandy River with rocks with the Wife and The Tax Deduction we decided to bop on over to Gresham and see what this place is all about. We set the GPS to Dea's and visions of tasty burgers danced in our heads. In the case of the Tax Deduction he had a vision of a hot dog. We found the place easily enough and pulled in. It looked kind of old school and seemed like it could be a find. We walked in and studied the menu in detail and decided on two long cheeseburgers, one double and one single, fries and the aforementioned hot dog. We took a booth and let the place grow on us. After a short wait they called our number and I went up to get our meal. We unwrapped our long cheeseburgers and took our first bite and waited for the flavors and the cheese and the inevitable nod of the head of a socially acceptable burger. And waited. And waited. And chewed some more. And.... it just never came. I bite deeper into the burger and it was a lot like the first. Now hear me out, it was not a bad burger but it was nothing special. I felt the meat lacked seasoning. Some celery salt would work wonders here, anything really, garlic, season salt, mesquite seasoning. I ate the burger, it filled me up but I couldn't work up a single emotion about the experience. Now the fries were crispy and good. However we paid fifty cents for two cups of "fry sauce". Note to Dea, thick thousand island dressing is not fry sauce. Mayo, ketchup, chili powder and a touch of salt is fry sauce. I think I could walk into a Cash & Carry and point out the tub of dressing they use. Very disappointing. The employees were very nice and friendly.

Yelp
The best kept secret in Gresham!! Friendly family owned restaurant that provides great food at affordable prices. Family friendly and a excellent choice for dates or just a day off from cooking.
