Multiple D.C. Restaurants Stand in Solidarity With Protesters While Suffering Property Damage | Eater DC

"I saw a poignant message written outside the Decatur House in Lafayette Square asking, “Why do we have to keep telling you black lives matter?” referencing the long history of racial injustice." - Gabe Hiatt

We hosted our wedding at the Decatur House over Memorial Day weekend, and it was a perfect choice! Arioth was very easy to work with throughout the planning process, and the beautiful venue really speaks for itself! The resident ducks were a wonderful extra surprise too! 5 stars!

Outstanding tour experience with Shannon! She was exceptionally knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and engaging! Our hour long tour went by so quickly as the Decatur House is full of fascinating historical information. Many of the rooms are wonderfully restored and we hope future grants will allow for additional restoration of public spaces. The tour was free, though we would have gladly paid an admission price. A real gem in the heart of DC!

This house is tied to slavery why? Cause the John Gatsby held weekly slavery auctions and later, Charlotte Dupry challenged master Henry Clay in court for her freedom. This house is full of history as it is the oldest house in DC. It belonged to various significant owners and organisations but currently it houses an African-American museum. The history of the house is worth visiting alone.

Any photographer would be happy to shoot at this historic venue, it is simply gorgeous!! If you're a bride or couple looking for a venue with character and class, it would be a great fit. As a wedding photography vendor that has experienced a variety of venues and what they have to offer - The Decatur House did not disappoint. The courtyard is a prime location for a classy reception, with views of the historic buildings and beautiful greenery cascading over the brick walls - it's a classic backdrop for any couple’s either a reception or ceremony. Can't go wrong choosing this venue, it was a delight to shoot our amazing couple on their big day at this location! @paperboysweddings
