The 14 Best Restaurants & Hotels In Wilmington, Delaware

"De.Co is Wilmington’s newest food hall, and though you can get ice cream, sushi, cocktails, pizza, and more treats later in the day, you should come here for breakfast. Grab coffee, croissants, and muffins at Spark*d, chicken and waffles at Connie’s, smoothies and juices at Eat Clean, or chicken cutlet sandwiches at Stu & Sammy’s. Google
Nice casual place for drinks and food. We usually bring kids over for happy hour time. Food are good.

The bartender I had wasn't good at ALL! She stayed on her phone and I had to call her to get service multiple times. The old fashioned I asked for had NO muttled fruit at all. I had to ask for the fruit and it was just simply dropped in the drink. The cocktails are reasonable and it's not bad but she just seems likes she don't give a rats a$$.

Not your run of the food hall this is located in the rear of the hotel du pont in downtown wilmington and is extremely spacious, offering a variety of well prepared cuisine. Sushi, Mexican, Mediterranean, American Italian (full service restaurant) pa pizza, coffee bar, full service large bar and more. Prices are very reasonable. Tons of seating area. Clean!

Google
We had so much fun here! The food was all delicious and we enjoyed that we were able to order different types of food and still eat together! The overall ambiance is very chill and relaxed and seems like a fun place to meet up with friends!

Google
Great happening spot. Not sure if it maybe was possible but would be nice to have bar drinks available at the food hall part. Excellent pizza though.

Google
Spark'd is a great place to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry! The staff are so friendly and welcoming! I love how they greet me with such a warm welcome every time I walk through the door! 10 out of 10!

Google
All kinds of places to eat here with a coffee shop and a bar. So if you are going on a date and can't decide what you want, this place is perfect... Sushi, to BBQ and most things in between.

Yelp
DE.CO is one of the cutest food spots in downtown Wilmington. There is something for everyone, from sushi, tacos, and pizza to coffee and drinks. I haven't tried all the food stalls yet, but they're on my list. The layout has lots of seating in the center, with food on the side walls. It's like a more upscale food court. The vibe is chill, with simple modern yet cozy tables and benches amid lots of slightly industrial design touches. It's a good spot for lunch with colleagues or sitting alone with a book, especially on off hours. If you're looking for something a bit elevated but not super fancy, DE.CO is a great spot.

Yelp
Really cool spot with a variety of different cuisines right across from the Wilmington Visitor Center. Make sure to check out Al Chou's and sit at the sushi counter! The owner is so friendly and funny! Lots of seating here and something for everyone. I was even able to find an outlet to charge my phone! ;)

Yelp
I visited Deco on two occasions while staying at the Hotel Du Pont. Deco is a food court on the ground level of the hotel building which features a wide variety of quick and delicious food options. On my first visit I ordered from Pizzeria Bardea and had the Prosciutto, Burrata, Fig Focaccia. The sandwich was flavorful and filling. Soft toasted Focaccia was filled with meaty salty prosciutto, creamy burrata, sweet fig, and crisp arugula. On my next visit I went to Rebel Ramen and ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen Bowl. The bowl was filled with flavorful and spicy broth filled with tender chicken, savory noodles, soft egg, and crisp veggies. The bar within the food court also had a nice selection of local craft beers and mixed drinks.

Yelp
This place was cool. It had tons of options BUT they all closed kind if early. It was advertised that they close 9-10 pm. We walked down there about 8ish and many establishments had closed up shop, much to our dismay. The chicken joint was still open and serving so we ordered from there. It was OK. It was made fresh and we were hungry. I think I enjoyed the shrimp and fries the most. The oreo waffle was just fine.

Yelp
Had a great time chatting with Steph, the creative bartender always willing to strike a conversation while making sure your glass is always full. Bringing new drinks to the menu, I had the pleasure of trying out a delicious cucumber martini made with gin, elderflower and muddled cucumber on my day off. The location is large with many different options to enjoy some food while at the white marble counters to enjoy some drinks to go with your food. The food will bring you in, but Steph and her drinks will keep you here!

Yelp
This place is struggling. I've eaten at many food halls, this one does not have all the spaces filled so the choices are limited. Idea is great, execution needs work.

Yelp
I'm not sure what is happening at Deco but its not good. The local LGBTQ group, ONO Wilmington had our December event scheduled there since January 6, 2024. I called them today to confirm our event and was advised we weren't on the book. When I asked to speak with the manager who had previously confirmed our event, I was informed that she was no longer with the company. I was told that they couldn't accommodate our event because they had another group there. When I challenged that, they changed their tune to they couldn't have us there because the venue is under construction. They best check themselves or all their businesses in Wilmington could lose ONO Wilmington.

Rob R.

Yelp
The pastries were delicious and reasonably priced given the quality. There was no wait and plenty of indoor seating. There were also other food options, which we will try on our return.

Yelp
As a whole the place is very cute. Clean and modern looking, hallways lead into the Hotel Du Pont which is nice if you're staying there. They host events I believe every week and the food is good depending on what you're in the mood for but there's a good variety and can cater to all times of the day (morning coffee for example and for the later evening a bar is open).

Yelp
Al Chu's poke bowls and the pizza at pizza bar sea are by far and a way two of your best options in Wilmington . This is a lunch spot from commuters to Wilmington's heaven

Yelp
Eh. This is a bar located in a food hall. The concept seems pretty cool but nothing at this place appealed to me. The bartenders were blah. One was dancing all over the place and being weird and the other one was just weird. From what I've heard from good bartenders in the area, this is where you bartend if you suck and can't get a job elsewhere.
google avatar

Yelp
Neat idea. I tried the chicken box at the chicken place which was kinda pricey for what it was. It was good but it was no raising canes. The Detroit style pizza was pretty good, I got the hot honey and took some for leftovers which was still good the next day. The tacos were the best tasting thing I had but they were so expensive. It was like 5-6 dollars per taco. The Birria and Al pastor were the two I tried and they were both really good There's foosball table to mess around with friends if you're waiting for your food to come out. Overall it's a nice concept and I see the vision but I think they can still try to make the venue a bit nicer (AC and whatnot) so that more people will come and the food can be less expensive.

Yelp
This review is for the guys and gals at 10th street bbq at the pop up stall. For $15 they will send you on your way with a gut busting bbq platter. I loved the sauces (I chose the sweet and tangy house sauce and the vinegar based sauce for my brisket - both were great!). For sides I went with hush puppies and cole slaw. Both were great. The pickles and corn bread that come with every order are a nice touch as well (tasty too!). It turns you you don't have to go to Texas for good bbq.

Yelp
A cool place in downtown. DECO is a good place for finding lots of new stuff. It's a food court of local pop ups. Has a variety of choices. There's plenty of indoor tables. Find plenty of cool stalls inside. It has everything from pizza to sushi and more. This is a good way finding out what kind of good food is in town. One stall has a rotating vendor so there's always something different here. The best one here is Pizzeria Bardea, which has classic wood oven fired pizzas. It has plenty of seating inside. Many things for everyone to check out. There's some that open earlier than others so try going at different times.
google avatar

Ry F.

Yelp
It was a nice setup with multiple vendors. The one vendor provided a sweet potato hat was cold and meat looked under cooked. Generally clean and nice ambience.

Yelp
I as most most of us who live or work in the city of Wilmington have been waiting for this space to open for a long time now. Finally it's here. The grand opening was yesterday and the festivities continued today we'll into the night. I stopped by after work to see how well Wilmington would turn out for some true night life since DECO is open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. That's unheard of here!! But it's more than welcome. I showed up alone around 9:45pm. First thoughts: this is really, really nice. Beautiful marble bar with two TV's lines the left hand wall, lounge area in the rear with a band playing, food stalls make up the rest of the perimeters and ample seating in the middle rounds out the space. The atmosphere was so inviting and I wish I had more time but I immediately snapped pics to send to my friends with the tag: our new chill spot. So excited. There are eight permanent food vendors and a pop up space for rotating businesses. I intend to try them all and review them separately but I did leave with a plate of chicken and waffles from Connie's. There's also Pizzaria Bardea, Al Chus Sushi, The Verandah featuring Indian street food, Phubs giving us Vietnamese Pho and Banh Mi, Spark'd for coffee and pastries, Stripp'd for smoothies and Acai bowls and Locale BBQ operating to pop up.

Yelp
Downtown Wilmington just got a little more awesome --- DECO opened this week! DECO is essentially a high-end food court with 8 restaurant stalls, a large bar, and plenty of table space in an open, beautifully decorated space. It features 7 permanent vendors and one rotating "test kitchen" that is currently claimed by Locale BBQ Post. They have large windows that can open to allow plenty of fresh air (large enough that I watched one man climb right over the indoor seating and through the window to exit the building...), and have a few outdoor tables set up as well. The bar offers a variety of beers and ciders on draft, wines, and cocktails that are designed to pair with each of the restaurants. The bar was quite crowded for their opening day, so we opted for beers to speed things up a bit, but I am looking forward to sampling the cocktails. We sampled foods from a few different stands, including delicious pizza from Pizzeria Bardea, a chicken tikka masala bowl from The Verandah, an Indian street food stand, and sushi from Al Chu's sushi, featuring the chef of Mikimoto's fame. Our chicken tikka masala bowl was flavorful, though was a bit heavy on the rice. I enjoyed my Firecracker roll from the sushi place, which is a salmon and avocado roll with a spicy kick. Our friends ordered BBQ from Locale and mentioned that the mac and cheese was delicious. I will say that the food is on the pricier side ($14.50 for the tikka masala bowl, somewhere in the $8-10 range for sushi rolls). We attempted to try the bubble tea from Phubs, the Vietnamese shop, but they had run out of bubbles. There's also a coffee/pastry shop that we'll have to try another day. There is street parking in the area, but in the evenings they'll also validate parking for the 11th St garage, which just a quick 1.5 block walk. Definitely excited to take advantage of this new space, and highly recommend to the downtown crowd looking for a new lunch option!

Yelp
The conception alone is worth 5 stars. Where else do you get a bar along with 7-8 different food options. It's a must try.

Yelp
DECO is located in downtown Wilmington, DE. It is a good hall that features 8 restaurants one of which rotates periodically. They call it the pop-up shop, currently occupied by a BBQ spot. For this visit (first time) I navigated towards Connie's Chicken & Waffles. Being from MD there is one located in Lexington Marley in Baltimore. I hadn't been but when I heard that it was opening in DECO I had to make sure it was the first place I tried. I ordered the Oreo Chicken and Waffles. I was hesitant but I thought "how bad could it be". It wasn't bad at all, in fact it was pretty dang good--and their syrup . I liked that the establishment was very open with plenty of seating. Very light and airy feel. The decor was very nice, eclectic even. It also has a full bar as well for those who want to partake in an adult beverage or 2, lol. I feel that some places can be a bit pricey but I still say it's worth a try. I will definitely come back to try out some of the other spots there. @kicknitwithki

Yelp
This is a food court basically. The coffee shop was closed when we went but look like it could be decent. They had a very lovely bar however I did not try any of the drinks. There are a few options for food here. They have gender neutral bathrooms. One thing they do have here that is a true gem is Al Chu's Sushi. Al is the owner and many times you'll be the one taking your order and making your role. They have make your own role here which is amazing you can pick whatever you want in it. Al makes homemade wasabi for those people that really enjoy it. He makes the regular powdered stuff and that's what you'll get unless you tell him you love wasabi and you'd like to try his homemade stuff. It's definitely worth the trip for his sushi.

Yelp
The pork buns from the sushi restaurant are great! Service was fast and professional, the atmosphere was also relaxing in spite of the number of people there for lunch!

Yelp
What a great spot! Delicious fare with many different options. Very kid friendly environment and extremely clean! We had wonderful and very fresh sushi and some Vietnamese coffees that were good. I really wanted to try everything. The chicken and waffles smelled amazing!

Yelp
I was in a hotel a couple of blocks away, and this was my main food choice for breakfast lunch and dinner! As someone who is quite familiar with these types of places in NYC (note: I have put on my special cap at this point), DE.CO was a breath of fresh air in a quiet business area of Delaware. It's a wonderfully clean and open area, with giant windows that literally open up into the streets. I had a couple of places while I was here. Spark'd had delicious and innovative pastries like the Lemon Lavender bar and Everything Bagel Croissant. Phubs had a tasty chicken bowl and the Verandah had an excellent Samosas Chaat. I think overall, it's a great starting point to expand Delaware's food scene! Hopefully in the years to come, there will be more phenomenal food options to choose form.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
I work next door and was psyched for DE.CO to open! I've sampled a few things and here are my thoughts the first month in: Venue: the layout is perfect but it gets LOUD at night. Bardea: veggie pizza was outstanding. Line was 10 people deep around noon and i ordered in 6 minutes. They take your number and text when the order is ready. Took 10 minutes which i didn't mind because i wasn't standing there waiting. Spark'd- I'm obsessed. Croissants are fabulous. Draft cold brew and draft latte is a great add to our area and the $2 coffee is delicious as well. Phubs- spring rolls were delicious. Tried some of the broth and can't wait to try the Pho! Bulgogi Rice bowl was fabulous and so flavorful Connie's Chicken & Waffles- light and fluffy , some of the best waffles I've had. Chicken was tasty and juicy but not very crispy. I liked it and thought it complimented the waffle but my 11 year old didn't care for them.

Yelp
Such high hopes for this place! Wilmington finally gets it's own food hall and I couldn't wait to try it. My friends and I ordered a variety of items from different places they offered. We also got a few cocktails there as well (cocktails are pretty fantastic but they didn't have watermelon juice for the one watermelon one I wanted ?). First was the chicken and waffles. Disappointed out how small the chicken was compared the the waffles. They just put chicken tenders instead of actual fried chicken which was strange. Chicken pretty good. Alittle dry but maple syrup smothered over the chicken and waffles made it pretty good. I got the BBQ pork bahi mi at Phubs. It was alright. Veggies could be more flavorful and same with the meat. The fried shrimp and pork rolls were pretty good with the fish sauce that it comes with. I think prob the best item I had there. My friend also got the spicy pig from the pizza place. The bread was really good but the pizza itself seemed alittle underdone. The toppings/cheese slid off while trying to grab a slice. Overall an okay pizza. We also tried the tiki marsala chicken bowl. That tasted pretty good. Another friend got two sushi rolls from the sushi place and it was decent. Nothing amazing. Overall food is okay. Not amazing but okay. The pop up kitchen looked like it was supposed to have bbq but noone was there so we didn't get to try them.
google avatar

Neha P.

Yelp
Definitely worth checking out! Go with a couple people so you can try more options! Great drinks at the bar. Food options for all taste buds. Be patient as everything is made to order. Only downside is if you order from multiple places you will have to keep tabs on when food is ready to go pick it up. Maybe future state they can implement a wait staff where you order through them and they place the food order so they can bring out from each as food is made. Similar concept I've been to in Tampa and it work quite well for dine-in option.
google avatar

Richard S.

Yelp
I admire the restaurants in DE.CO for all the hard work they do in operating their business, I'm a huge fan of Al Chu's sushi, but I came to the realization that after sweating like a pig for my third summer, the DE.CO management has some sort of problem and still doesn't address a "simple" thing like an air conditioner, I reported this problem 3 summers ago and still it hasn't been resolved. This by no way is a review of the food there, but I would say a problem that hasn't been solved in three years to me is looking like to me DE.Co is run by a slum lord.

Yelp
@sparkdcreativepastry Serves La Colombe coffee (mmk... not even mad but like big woop) So what? What could be the hype of this spot that opened up 3 months ago? Every coffee shop I have been to in the past serves stale pastries/cake pops that look like a nonedible display. Tbh, probs are too. Wompty. Ever try a cookie with basil? It surprisingly does not taste like a pizza topping on a cookie and really brings out a burst of flavor. I applaud @deleahrium The creative executive pastry chef I have yet to try the other goods but for now...this raspberry basil will do. It's time to bring FRESHLY tasteful baked goods and less acidic coffee to AMERICA people. Peace, love and medium earthy tone roast pour over friends. Oh...except today's drink order on this BLAZING SUMMER DAY: on tap draft latte For those in need of espresso-based beverages fret not. They have @lamarzoccohome machine Handcrafted in Florence, Italy since 1927.

Yelp
My review is awkward because I'm effectively reviewing four places... so here we go. [5/5 Stars] Phubs is outright amazing. They're a Vietnamese restaurant but don't let that scare you, the food is incredibly fresh and delicious. Most importantly to note is a lot of their menu is Gluten Free, Dairy Free, and Peanut Free. The GF/DF Sesame Chicken Rice was absolutely delicious and did not compromise on flavor in anyway versus Sesame Chicken you might see elsewhere that isn't GF/DF. Also, the food portions were relatively large given the price. This place definitely rocks. [4/5 Stars] The Verandah is a fantastic Indian Street Food place. I had their Chicken Curry Wrap which was delicious and had a lot of great flavors. I docked a star only because it seems a little bit pricey for what I got, but it certainly was great. [4/5 Stars] Stripp'd is a great smoothie place and my Antioxidant smoothie was fantastic. Important to note is that they do have Oat Milk and that's not on the menu. I docked a star because, like the Verandah, $8 for a smoothie certainly isn't unfair, but it is a bit higher than what I was hoping to pay. [4/5 Stars] Spark'd has La Colombe Coffee which, while I didn't try, I trust is as fantastic as typical La Colombe coffee. While I wish that they had a larger iced tea selection (since I am a tea nerd), their single black iced tea did fit the bill and was great. [3/5 Stars] The building itself was great. I really appreciated their restroom setup which consists of single-occupancy toilets which all connect to a room with sinks. This lets multiple people of all genders use their restroom efficiently and preventing odors from permeating the whole restroom. I also really liked their filtered water bottle refill machine, which I may or may not have used a lot to refill my bottle during my meal. I docked them one star because their parking situation is kind of awkward. There is a parking garage on 12th St with free parking on nights & weekend, but to get the free parking, you must show a receipt from De.co to the parking attendant. This wasn't explicitly communicated so be sure to keep this in mind. Also if you do take this option, you can park on the ground floor -- you do NOT have to follow the signs saying you must park on the roof, well, at least on weekends. I docked another star too because I was asked by (presumably) homeless people twice to give them money while in the Food Hall. They weren't a bother too much, but, it does cast light to how little security De.co has, and is something worth noting.

Yelp
Great decor/vibe in the dining area, I love that there is a bar to grab a beer or drink, outside seating, convenient location. The BBQ place (which was disappointing) turned out to be a pop-up and just got replaced by a burger spot. Nothing bad to say about the remaining vendors and I'll go into my personal favorites a bit below. Phubs is phucking awesome. I stick to the banh mi (not traditional with the pancakes) sandwiches but will give the pho a go when it gets towards winter. The meats are flavorful due to some great sauce/ marinades, Korean style veggies add texture, and the jalapeño on top gives a little kick. Bardea - well the main restaurant is amazing and this takeaway hits me in all the right spots. The pizza has great crust, flavorful and inventive toppings, and good portion size. The Indian street food is solid - I stick to curries. Spicy but not over the top. Sometimes a bit slow on the service.

Marcella B.

Yelp
I like this place. It's like a modern food court with a variety of food options, lots of space. Its easy to find . the chicken and waffle place is A+ Try the shrimp. Cons: It's downtown so parking is not free and can be hard to find.
google avatar

Anya L.

Yelp
I patronized the burger joint yesterday and the service was terrible. The cashier had an attitude and was very rude, almost yelling at customers that asked for onions etc. The chef was slow and kept stopping to sit down and scroll on his phone. He rolled his eyes when asked for onions and just had no sense of urgency in his work ethic. The line cook's pants were so low you could see his underwear. We waited over 30 minutes for food which had mediocre presentation and sent me straight to the bathroom. I will never eat at the burger joint again.

Yelp
On my second night in Wilmington I found that my first choice for dinner was closing early, but would remain open long enough for me to enjoy a pastrami sandwich. Fine, but where was I going to go for a drink afterwards? The first place I looked at was closed Sundays, and I didn't want to go to my hotel's rather pathetic bar offering, so I was feeling a bit down. But then I saw this food court-looking place that seemed inviting, so I ventured in. Now, obviously I wasn't hungry, so this review is for the bar. Boy were they accommodating! Kind barmaid helped me make my first, second, and third choices, LOL. (I should add that the third choice was gratis because evidently the second order was not what I'd ordered). For a Sunday night in a city that I'm told isn't happening... well, it was still Sunday night, but the place, while maybe not at a NYC-level of activity, still had a fair share of people. Perhaps it was the second game of the NBA finals, featuring teams from two cities a very long way from Delaware, but more likely this is just a good place to hang out. Bravo, DECO!

Yelp
Super clean ... lots if food options. I got the power salad from the Italian place .... So good you can taste the chicken was fresh

Yelp
New to me, and apparently new to Delaware! Downtown Delaware is shaping into a better new nicer environment, with things to offer, I'm Uber excited about this place. They have a variety of food choices with different restaurants inside. Crazy enough, I love how the restroom is setup, and really think this place was well though out! I can't wait to go back, and try all other things it has to offer!
google avatar

Julie V.

Yelp
There was something for everyone and our family likes variety. The phosubs was delicious and guys at counter very kind and great suggestions; and Al Chu's was yummy, had terrific service, and owner so friendly.
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
This place is like a high end mall food court. Busy and bustling. I tried a smoothie from Stripp'd and it was delicious. Friendly staff. I'm excited to go back and try a new place. My co-worker got chicken tikka marsala from Veranndah and she enjoyed it. And it smelled good.

Yelp
Great place!! Wide variety of food choices. Do not pass up the chicken & waffles at Connie's!! Best part there is a bar inside making drinks at 11am-closing. Definitely worth a try. I will be coming back. Yummy!

Andre H.

Yelp
Varieties of food types and alcohol selections you would expect for something attached to DuPont. Prices are ok and crowd is always present. Def could be better.

Deirdre S.

Yelp
My friends and I went here last night. The place is cool! The food was good: Connie's chicken and waffles; The Verandah-Chicken Curry bowl The drinks were ok. The music and karaoke were entertaining. Oh and the bathrooms although communal were very clean. My only issue were the people coming in off of the street asking for money. Deco NEEDS to hire security!
google avatar

Hyon Ju P.

Yelp
More trendy than delicious. I would go if I wanted to look cool sipping a $10 smoothie. Chicken and waffle was good but not unforgettable.

Yelp
Checked out the hype of this location tonight (Saturday night) at about 7:00pm. Definitely wanted to stop at Connie's Chicken & Waffles and it did not disappoint! Two juicy, perfectly seasoned and cooked tenders on top of a hot Red Velvet Waffle. A crispy exterior with soft, warm texture. I'm a big eater and started to regret not doubling the order but it's just right. The pop-up was a bbq spot but it wasn't open. I think a Mexican food stall would be a great addition. Love the open air concept with some outside seating and the big open windows. Without that it almost has an underground food court vibe a la Union Station in DC. Music is too loud making it difficult to hold a conversation. The bar area seemed to be the place to be as it had the most clientele. I can see this being a great spot for locals M-F for lunch, and an awesome location for pre/post show noshes. Connie's will probably become a weekly destination for me. I'm already picturing just a couple of their buttermilk waffles for breakfast with a good cup of coffee

Yelp
Deco is great. Its one thing I miss about being at work in the city. Its a great place to get a good variety. Reminds me of a small Reading Terminal Market. Restaurants part anyway. Definitely recommend Connies Chicken and Waffles. The smell alone is amazing. They also have a full bar there with some decent craft beer options. I hope it sticks around and survives the pandemic. Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the atmosphere. We enjoyed the ginger mint lemonade from the Indian spot. The make your own sushi roll option was fun and the firecracker roll was yummy. The winner of the night was the bulgoi salad bowl and the Vietnamese street fries...we actually went back for a second order. Will definitely be back to check out the other shops and hopefully something sweet.

Yelp
Deco is cool they have a bunch of options with smaller fastfood type places. I had the chicken and waffles and it was good.

Yelp
Wow! I'm a big fan of this new spot. With six or seven different options, DECO is a great spot for groups with diverse eating preferences. So far, I've only tried the pizza place, which offers several different salads -- I liked the Goddess and Burrata! My coworkers and friends have tried the waffle place (smells delicious) and the poke. All reviews were positive. And the bar is quite nice as well (although if you're just looking for a soda, there are cheaper options among the restaurants). Warning, some of the restaurants accept cards only.

Yelp
I've eaten at most of the vendors in Deco and scoped out the rest. The coffee shop is good, serves great coffee and pastries. The lunch spots all seem to serve good or decent food but without exception are overpriced and leave me still hungry. The tacos, Vietnamese, salads, Indian all lead to the same thing. Light wallet and light stomach :/
