DeeLuxe Chicken

I have tried to love this place, but I just can't get there. It is good. I like eating there. Physical space is nice. Chicken is good. Love the selection of sides. Prices are fine. Counter order but service generally decent. I have had my online order screwed up with missing items, but I don't hold that against them. I just am not really blown away by anything. Admittedly, this is an example of expectations creating a situation in which I am holding the bar higher, but I find this place to be "fine" or "pretty good."

I’ve eaten here twice in the last month and I’ve liked it both times. The first time I ordered the fried chicken with sweet potato fries and crinkle cut fries. The crinkle cut are great, I wasn’t a huge fan of the sweet potato fries (2 much seasoning for me). The sauce bar is GREAT! The fried chicken was a little soggy and had way 2 much breading for me. The 2 time, I got a burger and was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious. The bun was pretty standard, but the burger was TASTY. I got the crinkle cut fries and they were perfectly cooked! I also tried the spicy cucumbers and they were SPICEY! I love the atmosphere of this place and the staff are GREAT! I will be back in the near future.

Looking for pretty decent chicken in Durham? Look no further. Their food has really good flavoring and is super filling. I'm not too familiar with the Durham area, but they seem to be in a tucked away spot, away from a lot of hustle and bustle. Consider it a hidden gem. Lots of seating inside, and they also have some tables outside. They also have a sauce bar with plenty of options! Only complaint was from my boyfriend, who said his Cali Style Sandwich was soggy - when we go back, he'll ditch anything with a bun and go straight for chicken tenders. The toppings and condiments might have been a bit too much for the bread they use. Overall, I can't wait to go back!

Located on the broad Street, this place has fashioned decor with amazing chicken. We loved the fact that you could sample all kinds of sauce. The chicken sandwich was perfect - very crispy on the outside and moist inside. The sides are great too. Spice cucumber is one of my favorites. Surprisingly, there is a vegetarian option too! There is plenty of seating area.

I like the idea of a place where you can get really good fried chicken and some other fried Southern foods fast without sacrificing quality. The fried chicken is delicious and I love it on salad which read terrific on the Our House salad and the spicy ranch dressing was great on this combo. The sides could be better with my sweet potato fries with spicy chili was good, but not spectacular and ther mac and cheese was apparently meh. Good set tea though. There is also a pickle sauce bar, but apparently not being cleaned regularly as was messy. Also is there not a way that they could use a more sustainable silverware rather than plastic? Very wasteful... Parking could be difficult if other neighboring businesses are open since Watts Grocery is on the other end of this building.

The chicken was nice and crispy and the flavor wasn't bad or the best, but the sauces were good. The spicy Asian cucumbers were good as well. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor (great covered patio area). Also parking was easy, there's a lot next to the building.

Ordered the Cali Style Chicken Sandwich, The Deeluxe Chicken Sandwich, Pacific Rim Salad with grilled Ahi, sweet potato fries and homestyle potato salad. ($38.65). The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food served. We decided to go take-out. Once ordered, the food was cooked and bagged promptly. The take-out containers were styrofoam vs an eco-friendly biodegradable or compostable product. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were friendly. Both chicken sandwiches were good and moist. My daughter thought the cali style chicken was not seasoned very well. The Ahi Tuna for the pacific rim salad and the homestyle potato salad were awesome. I could see myself stopping by the restaurant just for potato salad and Ahi Tuna! The sweet potato fries were ok...probably would not order them again.

They just opened - so of course there are probably kinks to workout - but if there are kinks - they are behind the scenes and didn't affect my experience. As for the food .... AWESOME chicken sandwich!! I would recommend this place a perfect for quick service, casual and excellent food. I wanted to order several things on the menu - but started with their signature chicken sandwich. The slaw they put on it compliments it perfectly, the chicken was juicy moist and perfectly breaded and fried. If you like chicken - for sure this place will satisfy your craving. I look forward to watching them grow and will be watching for specials as they get their 'sea legs'.. Thank you for opening in my neighborhood!
