Madame Phuong Cocktail + Sake Den Debuts in Miami | Eater Miami

"I found the new tiki-meets-Southeast Asian cocktail bar — created by Ani Meinhold and Cesar Zapata in partnership with nightlife guru Mykel Stevens and located adjacent to their Phuc Yea restaurant — to be a deliberate late-night spot focused on cocktails and small bites. The menu is split into “Neo Tiki” (featuring drinks like Phuc It; Just Drink Me, a play on a Blue Hawaiian/Blue Piña Colada; Tear of a Tiger’s Eye, which blends Japanese whiskey and rye bourbon with toasted almond orgeat and lemon; and the Boobytrapa lychee and rum daiquiri) and “Classics” (spun margarita and old fashioned with tropical twists), and even includes Phuc Yea’s best-known Teabag Cocktail. Late-night bites skew Asian with a Latin influence, including salt-and-pepper chicharrones de pollo, Colombian-style beef empanadas with kafir lime dipping sauce, and buffalo-style oyster nuggets. The bar is open Thursday to Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m." - Olee Fowler

Drinks and food were fantastic both times we’ve been here! Service is good depending on which bartender is working. The first time we went the bartender was amazing. The second time we went there was a different bartender working that spent most of their time talking with one group and ignored the rest of customers at the bar.

Stopped in tonight for some food and drinks! Crab wontons and spring rolls were great! I didn't get any of the bartenders names, but they were super nice and helpful! I definitely recommend the cocktails and drinks. They had an extensive cocktail selection and creative drinks. I will definitely stop in again!

Google
Badass! Fun small cocktail bar. Intimate vibes. Came for a date night and really enjoyed ourselves. I really loved the fact I could have beer from other countries. Beer that you couldn’t get anywhere else! The cocktails were different, fun, and tasty! Really cool how they are attached to the Thai restaurant next door, making it a breeze to order amazing food.

Needed a quick cocktail before new years and we chose a new spot. This is one of my new favorites now. Great interior, delicious cocktails, and tasty food. All reasonably priced. This is a small spot, but it is worth trying even if the place is full. The Bartender told us about Tiki Tuesdays and we definitely want to go back for it. It has a food special and tiki drinks. Great spot on this side of town! Enjoy!

This was our first time here after wanting to try it for quite some time and it definitely did not disappoint! The server was Ricky, and he was attentive and gave us his recommendations! It was a great experience and we will definitely be back! PS: it’s also nice that they open late for them late night cravings!

Google
The atmosphere was great. Really cool little cocktail bar. Food was tasty and service was good too. We tried all the appetizers on the menu and I'd put the calamari as my favorite. I'd also recommend the mango sticky rice and chicken wings. The others were good too but those 3 were my top. As far as main dishes go, I had the Pad Kee Mao and it was delicious. I do usually like it with a tad more Thai basil but that's a personal preference. The dish was great. I did taste my friend's Thai Boat Noodles and it's not something I'd personally order but it was good as well. I'm just not much of a soup person. I also tried my wife's Kao Moo Grob and the pork belly was cooked really well with a tender inside and a crispy outside. I might eat that more as something to share with your friends then just eat it alone, but it was really good as well. We mainly went for the food but got a couple drinks and they were alright. We're not big drinkers though so I won't judge that too much even though it's a cocktail bar. We did have an issue with an allergic reaction after it seems there was a bit of a miscommunication with the front of the house and the back of the house. They took it seriously and it seemed like they do plan to learn from it and educate the staff better on handling allergies. I thank you for not just brushing it off and talking to us about it. I forget the gentleman's name that talked to us, but his mom, Dee I believe, is one of the cooks and kept checking on my wife afterwards. Thank you for that. Dee was really sweet. Overall, I'd recommend trying it out.

Google
Atmosphere, food and drinks all good, but holy moses is it slow. I believe the bartender had to look up recipes while making standard cocktails. We stopped at one drink and called it a night because a half an hour to make an old fashioned…we just felt it was best for all to give the bartenders a chance to get their head’s above water. BTW it was not busy…just incredibly slow.

Google
A good Thai food restaurant with some authentic Thai dishes not found at many places outside of Thailand.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite places in OKC!! I love the calamari, gyoza, katsu sandwich, Pad Kee Mao, Booms fried rice and the Basil fried rice are amazing. I like everything on the menu. Wide selection of spirits and thoughtful craft cocktails. Anime always on one of the tvs :) Great game day spot!

Yelp
Cute bar next to a Thai restaurant in an unassuming shopping center. The drinks, amazing! I asked the bartender to make a lychee martini and it was literally the best one I ever had! The food comes from next door, standard Thai dishes but very tasty. I'm also partial to Thai food in Oklahoma because I'm convinced Virginia has the best! The Christmas decorations were super cute and festive. One of the employees said they aren't finished yet so I'm excited!

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday here for some dinner and drinks with a friend. It's a smaller place, so definitely not for a larger party. Cute decor and quaint place. Definitely more a bar versus restaurant. I ordered the calamari, pad kra pao and the basil fried rice. Both were flavorful and authentic. Luckily the food stems from Tana Thai next door, and I happen to also enjoy their food. The calamari was okay compared to others I've had but everything else was spot on. The bartender was extremely helpful and attentive, she ended up giving me a free drink for my birthday. Definitely a great place to kick back after work or a long day!

Yelp
We've been to this place twice now and will be going back more! It's a cute little joint tucked away next to a Thai place that they're affiliated with. Our server Chase was awesome! We sat at the bar and had a great experience. We ordered the crab puffs(which we did a second order of) - they were so crispy and flavorful. We loved them! The first day we shared the pad Thai and the second day we shared the pad kee mao. I loved both of them, but my husband thought the pad kee mao had more veggies than noodles. They were both flavorful, and the spice level on the pad kee mao was great (we opted for 4). We got their pineapple sticky rice and it was so good! We wanted mango but they were out, so I can't even imagine how good the mango one is! Now, their drinks....are AMAZING! We loved the Dracarys personally. It has a unique heat to it from the Thai chili infused liquor. My husband also tried another drink and I forgot the name but I have a picture. It was delicious as well! We kind of want to try everything on their menu so we will be back! Definitely worth checking out

Yelp
Small bar. Great decor and good cocktails. Food was good but nothing to phone home about. SERVICE WAS awful. Called ahead and said I had 8 people coming. Didn't mention anything about the small amount of seating, didn't acknowledge us when we got in, and the food came out in spurts. Better management could improve this to a 4 star.

Justin J.

Yelp
Best Tiki bar in town! They have a great selection of spirits and the kitchen is open late! Bring friends, have some SoJu or some Thai Beer, and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Everyone here is friendly and the staff will treat you like family. Don't miss this great little bar in an unassuming location in OKC!

Yelp
Love this place. I love love love being able to get food and drinks late and the service all three times I've been has been top notch. I only drank the first time and tried the specialty drinks and they were out of my comfort zone but good. I tried some of my friend's food and craved it so bad I came back the next day for it. The noodle dish is my favorite and just the right amount of heat for my baby taste buds.

Yelp
I enjoyed my visit to this bar/restaurant. It's very small so if you have a large party, you may want to reconsider if it's a party greater than six. We had several different drinks and they were very delicious. The food was also good. I love the atmosphere, the bartenders were very nice and server was great

Yelp
Another update review focusing just on the drinks - which are excellent. Bartender service is also great. The spot is also an awesome hang out spot to watch the game or anime re-runs from Dragonball GT. Reviewed the food from last time, but upcoming times will likely order dessert or a snack. Highly recommended once again!

Yelp
Poorly ran service wise, seating is cramped, food is good thankfully to Thana Thai. Overall I think it's best to order take out.

Yelp
Amazing drinks, food, vibes, and atmosphere! I got the pad kee mao, along with a couple different cocktails - all perfection. Our bartender, Shylen, was super friendly and attentive. I even asked him to make me a flavored moscow mule and he came up with a wonderful grapefruit mule! 10/10 recommend giving this place a try. It's the perfect neighborhood bar!

Yelp
We were driving through on a business trip and found this restaurant had great reviews. When we pulled up it didn't look too inviting without an overhead sign. However we decided to walk in and much to our surprise it had a very fun hip vibe to it. It smelled very clean, warm, and inviting once we got in. We sat at the bar and were quickly greeted by Abby working behind the bar. She made great recommendations and we ordered every one of them. They rate their spice with a 1-4 with the highest being Thai hot. We ordered the 4. The Pad Thai had a sweetness to it which reduced the spice in my opinion but the w Pad Kee Mao seemed to stay on the spicer side. Overall would highly recommend this spot! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Decided to swing by and try this place out after seeing enticing photos on IG! The inside is super cute and has great vibes. You feel like you're stepping into a cute tiki dive bar, while the outside is a boring shopping center strip. We had thought about eating next door, at Tana Thai, but the vibes there were COMPLETELY different. Like stepping into a hospital or something. So we decided to stay at Deem Laow for drinks and food. You are able to order food from next door as well, so we got a little of Deem Laow and Tana Thai food to try. From Deem Laow, we got the pork belly dish and the boat noodles. Both were okay, just over bearing on the hoisin sauce. From Tana Thai, we got the chicken larb and Tom yum soup. The larb was very bland tasting and when we asked for chopped chilies on the side, woooweee they were hot af. GD. I was expecting the Tom yum to come out on fire, like their IG post advertised, but alas, it came out in a plain Jane lil bowl. Food overall was just okay. Drinks were cute but a bit pricey. Service was incredibly slow and they neglected to get us silverware or drink orders. Would maybe go back for the ambiance and happy hour drinks!

Yelp
Awesome drinks, food, and ambiance. The staff is super friendly. Easy to order food and can always pop next door for more options.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night. The interior is very nice and vibrant. Mostly bar seating with two tables. Ordered the Last Worry and it was delicious. A little sweet for my partner but I liked it. For food we got the fried calamari and the katsu sandwich. The calamari was tender and crispy. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the katsu sandwich. It was fried nice and crispy but even though it had a sauce on it, I felt like it had no flavor at all. I'd still come back and try new things because of the atmosphere and location of this place

Yelp
Came here before going to a concert at 6p but late night dinner doesn't start at 9p which we didn't know but owner was nice enough to let us order anyways. Love the decor and all the drinks! All the drinks were delicious! The 1238 is my favorite and so pretty! Must try if you like a little bit of sour and sweetness!

Brittney J.

Yelp
First things first, the food here is fantastic. Since discovering this spot a couple of weeks ago, I've been obsessed with their crab puffs. I've placed multiple different orders for them as they are absolutely to die for--especially when you're having a late night craving. But, unfortunately, I almost dread having to walk inside this place because I always wind up feeling so uncomfortable. Not once, out of the 3-4 times I've come in, has anyone ever so much as acknowledged that I was there. I usually wind up awkwardly standing off to the side of the bar until the bartender is finished doing whatever, and I can finally be like, "Hey...I'm here for a pick up?" The bartenders will literally see me walk in, and just flat out ignore my existence. It's truly weird. I've served in restaurants off and on for about 10 years. And, at every restaurant that I've ever worked at, management has always stressed the importance of greeting customers, as soon as they walk in the door, for this very reason--so they don't feel unwelcome. Maybe it's just complete and utter obliviousness, but it's making me think twice about coming back.

Yelp
Best espresso martini in OKC! Shy was a great bartender. Good music, clean, and comfortable. 10/10 recommendation for Deem Laow

Yelp
Amazing cocktails, even better food. Tiki Tuesday is fun with Travis (they have fresh coconuts for it) and fun place for a girls night as they have deals on wine every Wednesday. pro tip: order pad kee mow "Alvin's way" good game day spot too they'll open early for ou games typically!

Yelp
Great good, great drinks, and great vibes, what more can you ask for!?? Some of the best bartenders in the metro and the nicest kitchen staff!!
google avatar

Tyler G.

Yelp
Cool bar, good chill spot to grab a beer or a fun drink. Their kitchen is open late and they have good food.

Nate T.

Yelp
Tiki Tuesday... thats all I gotta say. Travis was excellent with his service, and his recommendations for it being my first time.

Jason E.

Yelp
This is a quality cocktail bar with tasty snacks coming out of the Thana Thai kitchen. Recommend for date night or for a drink while grabbing togo food from next door. Back bar is impressively stocked with an emphasis on rum.

Yelp
Looooooved this place! We came in after a concert and literally had everything on the menu and we were NOT upset with anything. No regrets. The ramen was definitely the fave of our group and the pad Thai was so tasty. It's nice to have a place in the area that serves food all night and Thai food really hits different at 2am. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We loved Deem Laow! The environment is very chill and welcoming. The staff was very nice and suggested drinks and the crab wontons and spring rolls. Both were amazing but we preferred the wontons over the spring rolls. The Pad Kee Mao and Chicken Katsu sandwich were both great. Highly recommend!

Yelp
It is a small space but it's great vibe. The drinks and service were good. The pad Thai was amazing! Piping hot and lots of flavor.

Yelp
This restaurant gets a solid 1 star from my table for food and service. The ambience was nice, but that was about it. We sat at the bar to order dinner and told the bartender or waiter that the bar was wet. We actually told him twice. Nothing was done so we moved over to the only available seat next to us. It wasn't too busy. Just limited on bar seats. Not a big deal, but if you acknowledge that you heard us and do nothing is a little rude. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees. We had gyozas and the chicken wings for appetizers. I barely ate the chicken wings because they terrible. Highly do not recommend the wings. For entrees, we got the pad thai and pork belly with rice. My friend ordered pad thai without peanuts because she has a peanut allergy. It was served to us with peanuts. I even said "hey this has peanuts on it" to the waiter and he just left. I said it loud enough for the bartender to hear and he took it away. Then he dropped off my pork belly entree and it was missing the egg. I wanted that egg. If I knew ahead of time, I would have ordered something else. COMMUNICATION! The waiter said they are out of eggs and I told him I was looking forward to the egg. This man then proceeds to say, "I can make you an egg. It will take 15 minutes." OKAY WTF? The food already took 15-20 minutes to make. Why not just do that in the beginning? Also, how hard is it to communicate with the customer that you don't want to put an egg on its dish? Furthermore, I will never go back to this place. There needs to be some restructure or something because diner experience is nonexistent in their playbook. The only thing I can say I enjoyed about this place was how it looked. Even so, that is not enough for me to continue supporting any business there. I wish the owner the best of luck.

Yelp
Fantastic little cocktail bar. I love being able to get late night Thai food and a drink. Good knowledgeable bartenders. A little pricey for the custom cocktails but you don't have to spend a fortune here. Strongly recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
I would like to start off with rating the food very good in our experience. Went with a couple of friends and we all tried something different and all very much enjoyed it. Docking points off based on the fact that the waitstaff was very intoxicated and were drinking at the bar yelling at our table. Not sure what he was even yelling about but made us uncomfortable to the point that we just packed our food and left. Probably not ever coming back.

Jajuan H.

Yelp
Great experience the service was phenomenal. Staff was very informative about the menu and gave great recommendations! The owners are very welcoming! I suggest you get the "The Juju" great combination of booms fried rice and Pad Thai! Great place to vibe out! Good job!

Shannon F.

Yelp
Amazing cocktails and service!! They have the best staff in OKC, perfect recommendations for what we wanted!

Mikhail V.

Yelp
I love this place! it's small & unassuming, so at first it doesn't seem exciting, yet when you walk in, the small cozy ambiance, the drinks & the food are all amazing. I've been here twice & I'll keep coming back. This is a hidden gem.

Karl F.

Yelp
One of the best late night food and cocktail options in the city with a great vibe. Try the Chicken Katsu, Pad Thai, and Wings!
