Deep Indian Kitchen - Review - Columbus Circle - New York - The Infatuation

"Deep makes some of the best frozen Indian food out there, and we advise you to get to your nearest South Asian grocery store and pick up a box of their chicken korma ASAP. Luckily for us in New York City, Deep also has three restaurants here where you can taste the family’s food made fresh in house. At their three counter-service locations, you can build your own biryani, kati roll, dosa, or salad, with you choice of protein like chicken tikka or mushrooms. If you go for a dosa, you won't be getting the big crispy crepe most places serve—it's more like a taco in an uttapam-like shell. But it's a fun vehicle for unconventional dosa fillings like lamb kofta and even pulled pork. We usually go for the Live Fire Feast (their version of the thali), so we can get rice and dal on the side. Choose your spice level, then decide between a bottled mango lassi or a ginger cane drink." - Neha Talreja

The first time I went for dinner was a few months after they opened. The paneer sag was amazing. So was the chai!!! It was a cheaper and closer option than the other I restaurant I go to. Yes, they are known for frozen meals but I do not believe I was served one. The flavor was rich and perfect temperature. The packaging is nice and the wait time wasn’t bad. The space is incredible and you can host events there. I appreciate ordering on the kiosk because it gives me time to decide and time for staff to focus on food prep. They are quiet but when I have spoken to them, they were really friendly and accommodating. I got upset though because one couple screamed at them for about 10 minutes. It ruined the vibe for a bit. They’re just trying to do their job. I went a few days ago. I went down a spice level but the food was still great. I got chicken sag and onion kofta (for the first time). The onion fritters were good but not my cup of tea. The tamarind sauce which I thought I wouldn’t like was yummy! I also tasted samosas (yum!) and the mango lassi (also yum!). Please try their candy- family loved it. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. It was quiet and a perfect place for my friend and I to catch up. I like it so much I may host an event here.

The restaurant was very clean and kiosks ready to take faster orders. The presentation on the plate was nice. However, the taste was not good at all. It didn’t have a taste at all. It tasted like spices but nothing flavorful or savory. Very disappointing especially getting charged extra for lamb and combo. No thank you. Please do better with seasoning the food along with the traditional spices. Signed me—Tania Simone

Great counter service Indian food! Service was very slow - luckily we ordered ahead online, I recommend doing that so your food doesn't take too long. They're understaffed but staff was still helpful. The vegan chana masala and the lamb curry were fantastic with really great seasoning. Level 1 was spicier than we expected but still tolerable and delicious.

The first time was Thursday around 1pm. It wasn't even busy. We didn't know we had to order our food on the Machine and the Lady wasn't as nice when she Stated " you placed your order on the machine" which is located on the other side of the restaurant 🙄 that's where professionalism falls in. Knowing how to direct the customer and speak to them. I was impressed to see the restaurant wasn't run by Indian people. The place is clean, but you barely see any workers, especially to clean up after the customer. Not even a manager came out to see how everything was coming along. The food came out Hot and They do not bring the food to your table. You have to pick it up at the front where the Lady refused to take our order. We wasn't even offer any beverages to drink ( we had our own drinks on hand) The chairs are very uncomfortable. The SAMOSAS we ordered came with Two and they were big and Hot. The Garlic Naan was also a descent size. The beans taste good.

Love their Samosas & Kathi Rolls. The Chai is also good. They used to have a store near Central Park in Manhattan which I used to frequent but now they have closed it down, along with other Manhattan stores — too bad! This is their only physical store now. The prices are super reasonable for the quality and amount of food.

This is a modern, Indian fast food/dine-in spot. You walk into a fresh new restaurant with a very sleek look. You can place your order on the screens they have and they will make it. You can peek into the glass to see what they’re cooking and how they’re doing it. They have some Deep snacks available as well to purchase. The food itself was surprisingly tasty, definitely great for a quick bite!

Everything was wonderful! The food, the upstairs/downstairs seating, and the service! One of the managers went checking on customers and their food. Very nice of him, he also requested any suggestions. Before we left, we spoke with I believe another friendly manager. Let her know it was delicious, wasn't expensive like we were thinking and some Indian music would be nice to tie it all together. She mentioned they plan to bring in cocktails which is exciting. The portion size of the "Feast" option was on the smaller side. I would have loved to have more as it was so good! Overall, my husband and I will definitely be back!

Brand new and so very modern and clean. Plenty of seating (upstairs as well) and the kiosks for ordering are great! The food has consistently been great - hot flavorful and perfect portion sizes. It doesn't feel like "fast food" which is a welcome change from the other neighborhood options! I'm really glad there is finally an Indian food option in the area - this will be part of my regular lunch rotation! I recommend dining in (tastes best hot) and trying it at least once!!
