Great little find! While not yet open for the season (call first if you are traveling outside regular tourist season in July & August) the owner opened up for us. He gave us the story behind his fabulous distillery and cidery. Then shared a starting so we could Decide what to bring home! They have a lovely story set up of you wander their orchard (which I recommend). Thanks Stacey Beamish!

Was purchasing vodka and coffee liqueur of another brand yesterday, when a very kind and informative employee named Carol at the Oaktree liquor store recommended Deep woods distillery brand coffee liquor instead. Which I purchased along with their vodka. I was excited to try something new, that is also from a local distillery. My partner and I couldn’t be happier with the switch. The coffee liqueur is light in color but has a sweet and delicious coffee flavour. I’m not much of a vodka drinker, And definitely not drinking it neat. But this vodka is incredibly smooth and in my opinion the best tasting vodka I’ve ever had. I recommend checking them out.

We booked the 1.5 hr tour. Upon arriving we received a cocktail of choice, then went for a 15 min chat about the distillery with the owner. It was laid back and interesting. Infusing our spirits was fun. We would come back again, this was a perfect stop.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Deep Roots Distillery. We sampled their delicious liqueurs, and took a glass of Apple Pie Moonshine with us on our informative orchard walking tour that ended with sitting in their quiet outdoor gazebo. When you go you absolutely must try the Apple Pie Moonshine!! We bought several bottles of their wonderful liqueurs.

We stopped in on our way back to NS. Tried little samples - the coffee liqueur was tasty and smooth and the peanut butter cocktail was so deliciously peanut buttery! Veronica was very friendly, knowledgeable and gave us a lesson about absinthe. Picked up a sample pack but they ship to anywhere in Canada so we’ll be placing an order once we get back home to Manitoba!

Recently ran out of my standard coffee addition, the American (spit!) Kahlua. Looked around the shelves and on the very bottom was a distinctive apothecary style bottle with exactly what I wanted…COFFEE LIQUEUR. Without knowing where it came from took it home. Two weeks later we are on the second bottle and even enjoy a sip in the evening on ice. Bottom line is this product should rank right up there with the very best liqueurs on any bar or restaurant shelf clear across this country. That said and with trade barriers being shattered between provinces I will be sending this product out to Vancouver with my Son-in-law who is GM of a pub liquor store operation for exposure. Now to PEI liquor stores “WHY IS THIS ON THE BOTTOM SHELF !” Deep Roots keep up the great work , we’re planning a tour when the family gets here from west coast this week.

The free samples were amazing. We had to buy some bottles to give out as gifts. The alcohol truly is award winning and delicious. The self guided tour is a walk around the apple orchard explaining the history of the farm.

Yelp
If you're in PEI, you gotta check this place out! It's just off the main road about 4 KM down but well worth the micro detour. Realistically, nothing on the island is out of the way. The grounds are beautiful with several places to sit and enjoy your Little Pig Cider that you buy right on site. We expected the booze and cider to but be that great with one place making so different things, but we were pleasantly surprised. The first two samples are free or you can do 5 for $5. Definitely worth the price despite the size. Try the Island Tide, it will make your face hurt but a hilarious thing to do regardless. It's their version of Moonshine. We really liked the vodka and gin, but that's what we regularly drink. The Limon Cello was good too, but not something I'd drink everyday. Overall, the cider is what sold us. It's got a high alcohol content, 9%, and is pretty dry; just the way we like it! Lots of parking and very easy to get to so do drop in and enjoy the patio.

Yelp
We stopped into the distillery after finding an advertisement for it in our travels. For five dollars, you can try seven of their offerings. Everything is really good, but we didn't get much of a description of each beverage, and felt rushed through the tasting. I especially liked the Maple liqueur and the Camerise, made with haskap. American buyers beware - there is a limit to the proof of what you can fly back into the country with you!
