An Eater’s Guide to Prince Edward Island, Canada’s Seafood Destination | Eater

Great experience! We found the history of the distillery interesting and enjoyed the yummy samples. Could not leave without buying their Maple, Blueberry & Coffee Liqueur.

We had a great tour of the Deep Roots Distillery. Our tour guide was excellent and described the history of their apple orchard and subsequent move to distilling fine spirits. At the end of the of tour we were shown how to infuse our own gin and vodka to take home. We also sampled some delicious blends on sale at their shop. The Peanut Butter vodka was the best! I had this mixed in an Old Fashioned cocktail at Slaymaker & Nichols in Charlottowne and wanted to see where this was crafted. It's a short drive from Charlottowne to the distillery. Lots of fun and we learned a lot too. Highly recommended!

Great little find! While not yet open for the season (call first if you are traveling outside regular tourist season in July & August) the owner opened up for us. He gave us the story behind his fabulous distillery and cidery. Then shared a starting so we could Decide what to bring home! They have a lovely story set up of you wander their orchard (which I recommend). Thanks Stacey Beamish!

Their workshop (Infusion experience) was such a delight! It was a really fun experience to infuse my own vodka. Staff is super knowledgeable and friendly.

Was purchasing vodka and coffee liqueur of another brand yesterday, when a very kind and informative employee named Carol at the Oaktree liquor store recommended Deep woods distillery brand coffee liquor instead. Which I purchased along with their vodka. I was excited to try something new, that is also from a local distillery. My partner and I couldn’t be happier with the switch. The coffee liqueur is light in color but has a sweet and delicious coffee flavour. I’m not much of a vodka drinker, And definitely not drinking it neat. But this vodka is incredibly smooth and in my opinion the best tasting vodka I’ve ever had. I recommend checking them out.

The product and service from Deep Roots Distillery is unmatched! We're in the states and while on a visit to the Island we didn't take enough of a stockpile home with us. Stacey was incredibly helpful and we're looking forward to working with her once they're able to ship across the border again! If you haven't tried them yet, its a must!!!

What an amazing place. Super nice owners and the only distillery/winery we visited that didn't charge for a sample. You got two free ones and then they charged for more which is totally fair. I didn't mind paying for samples at other places because I understand how much product they must go through giving out samples, but it was nice to try a couple without being charged. Everything we tried was delicious. We spent the most money at this place due because everything was top notch. The maple liqueur is one of the most unique drinks I have ever tried. Do yourself a favour and stop in. You won't be dissapointed.

Yelp
If you're in PEI, you gotta check this place out! It's just off the main road about 4 KM down but well worth the micro detour. Realistically, nothing on the island is out of the way. The grounds are beautiful with several places to sit and enjoy your Little Pig Cider that you buy right on site. We expected the booze and cider to but be that great with one place making so different things, but we were pleasantly surprised. The first two samples are free or you can do 5 for $5. Definitely worth the price despite the size. Try the Island Tide, it will make your face hurt but a hilarious thing to do regardless. It's their version of Moonshine. We really liked the vodka and gin, but that's what we regularly drink. The Limon Cello was good too, but not something I'd drink everyday. Overall, the cider is what sold us. It's got a high alcohol content, 9%, and is pretty dry; just the way we like it! Lots of parking and very easy to get to so do drop in and enjoy the patio.

Yelp
We stopped into the distillery after finding an advertisement for it in our travels. For five dollars, you can try seven of their offerings. Everything is really good, but we didn't get much of a description of each beverage, and felt rushed through the tasting. I especially liked the Maple liqueur and the Camerise, made with haskap. American buyers beware - there is a limit to the proof of what you can fly back into the country with you!
