Chef Tony Mantuano’s Downtown Italian Restaurant Yolan Opens Soon | Eater Nashville

"Popping up on weekends at Citizen’s Kitchen inside Hunters Station in East Nashville, I can get Kendall Duffie’s plant‑based menu (Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), which features deep‑fried “fish” sandwiches made from banana blossom, a crab cake made of grilled artichoke and chickpeas, and vegan desserts." - Delia Jo Ramsey

I came and ate here 2 years ago and I’m coming back later this month!! I can’t wait to come back and eat lol. I remember eating here and being so sad that they weren’t located in my city. The food was great and the employees were so nice.. I got the Oceanless Calamari Po’ Boy with slaw

The food was a flavor sensation! I had the fish combo (sandwich, mashed potatoes & fruit tea). With every bite, I kept being amazed by the flavor. Followed up my meal with a wonderfully-soft, tasty peanut butter cookie! Enjoyable culinary experience.

The fish sandwich and the Key Lime pie was delicious! You better order two sandwiches! The Chef was nice and he came out to greet us warmly!

This place is great! The only downside is that they're only open every other weekend at the moment (though they're working on changing that). I've had nearly everything on their menu, nothing was a disappointment, but for me the standout favorites were the Leek Po Boy (so, so, so good), the burger (and I'm not normally a burger kinda guy), and the Key Lime Pie. Their Sicilian dog was also exceptional, fully loaded with flavor. If you've not had Deep Sea vegan yet I recommend you change that ASAP.

This place was delicious and the customer service was good. I just heard about this place and went to try them 1/16/21. They did not disappoint. I had the Crab cake burger w/Chantilly...DELICIOUS My daughter had the sliders and they were pretty good, but she liked it a lot. The Pecan Bread Pudding -Was too sweet to enjoy. Other than that..this is a must go and will visit again. I want to try the fish sandwich. Yum

After reading all the great reviews we decided to try this place today. As vegans, we are always trying to find new places to eat. I wasn't going to write this review, but I am since the guy made it a point to mention that he wanted us to leave a review even if it was bad. The fish sandwich was sold out so we were unable to try it. They were also sold out of all desserts except a chocolate chip cookie. I had the "crab" cake sandwich and it mostly tasted like bun (which wasn't good and it wasn't toasted). The "crab" cake was just mushy and underwhelming. My husband had the "calamari" po' boy and it also tasted mostly like bun. At least it did have some decent fried pieces but overall it wasn't that great. It was also disappointing that the food was served in a fast food sack when all the other places had trays to enjoy your food on. Overall I'm giving three stars because I appreciated their effort and enthusiasm for vegan food; however, I think the food and presentation could be improved. I hope they are successful but my experience was not great and I wouldn't seek it out again.

Google
Highly recommend! The food is so amazing you wouldn't believe it's vegan! My favorites are the 'fish' sandwich, key lime pie, peanut butter cookies, burger, hotdog....bottom line i haven't had anything I do not like! I live 5 hours from Nashville but each time I pass thru or near enough, I make a point to stop in! The owners are awesome and so friendly! They truly make their customers feel like family! Looking forward to their permanent location so I can stop in any day of the week.

Google
Phenomenal. Excellent customer service (the Duffie twins rock!) and the food was soooo good. Fried fish sliders better than any vegan "seafood" I've had, and that was my favorite cuisine before going vegan. The Chantilly potatoes and desserts (peach cobbler and butterscotch cookie) were out of this world too! Wish I could go back more than once every 2 weeks, but I will definitely be there every time!!

Yelp
Hubby was reading reviews and wanted to find a place I could eat from. He never fail with his selections. The owner Kelvin Duffie is a twin and he told my husband that if he didn't like the food he'd pay for his meal. Welp bae liked his food and even ordered the signature side to go! The wait was fast and food was fresh.

Yelp
First off the owner is the best. Customer service to the next level. They know everything that is in their food, and do not mind sharing it with people who are S pick you up in either as me. The mashed potatoes are So Good... So Good... I'm Telling You....... But seriously, you have to go. They are at the Houston station every other Saturday. So I would call and ask when they are there, get there early, and mix their amazing food with all of the other food around. Will not be disappointing. YouTube @Whats Up Rosko

Yelp
Incredible. I want to buy a gallon of the cheese potatoes. Service is great. A rare event, but worth the wait.

Yelp
I have been vegan for 13 years now and have tried numerous vegan options when dining out. Hands down, without a doubt, Deep Sea Vegan makes the most flavorful "fish" sandwich I've had!! Today was my first visit, but I'll be back for sure. The Chantilly potatoes were next level delicious. If they sold in bulk, I'd buy a vat of those! I love that the menu is not massive but provides variety - shows they know what they do well and let me tell you, they're showing off!

Yelp
Awesome food loved it, I was looking for something different to eat and I saw this place on Facebook so I decided to give it a try and I was really pleased, will visit again soon!

Yelp
Oh my, this "fish" sandwich puts real fish sandwiches to shame. They got the flavors and texture nailed down and I could eat this multiple times a day. The cornmeal batter was so crispy and they got the "fish"/banana blossom to be so flakey, light and not greasy at all. The sauce and bun also amazing. The mashed potatoes were so deeply flavorful as well. I was so impressed. I can't wait to come back and try more!

Yelp
So I went back in February and invited friends and let me tell you that Key Lime Pie continues to amaze me. It is rich and creamy with real lime zest on top with some of their sand sprinkled on top or the cookie walnut crumble. Let me say plant based desserts are not easy to come with this type of quality. Ooo and I had the snickerdoodle cookie. It was soft and moist, maybe a hint of cinnamon but not to strong in cinnamon taste almost barely. It was a perfect cookie. I also appreciate how the Chef and the staff are always hospitable when I come. If you really want some amazing plant based desserts as well as food you better beat me there cause I'm going in on that Key Lime pie ijs..

Yelp
We'd heard about this pop up at Hunters Station and were so curious to try it. All their main menu items are plant based -no tofu, seitan or soy. Currently you check their calendar for days and times they'll be serving. They were set up in front of the building connected to Hunters Station, under a covered patio so there is plenty of room to distance from other diners. You order at a small table where the chef explains the menu and they deliver the food from their kitchen shortly thereafter, all made from scratch. We tried the Ocean Floor Crab cake sliders and Deep Sea fish sliders. An easy way to share bites since each order is two sliders. They came with a side of chantilly's potatoes, mashed potato blend with a caramelized topping and a red pepper kick. Both sandwiches were very flavorful, I personally liked the crab cake better since it wasn't fried. Really liked the candied jalapeños on the sliders. Another member of our party tried the special which was a take on a calamari slider and they really enjoyed it as well. We had to go back and order desserts since dinner was such a hit. We tried their peach cobbler, blueberry cobbler and the Black Sand which was a shot glass of dark chocolate mousse-y deliciousness! Everything we had was very creative and we look forward to them getting a permanent spot inside so we can enjoy their food more often. I really think even non vegans will enjoy their passion and creative take on seafood, there's even a "burger" for you traditionalists!

Yelp
Goodness gracious!! Flavor flavor flavor bomb (insert mind-blown emoji). Meat-eaters will have no idea they're indulging in all plant-based goodness with Deep Sea Vegan. The deep sea fish sandwich and burger both hit the spot and left me setting an alarm reminder to high-tail it right back for more. Candied jalapeños.... forreal? Genius. What's in that special deep sea sauce?! Please tell me..... I can keep a secret. I could literally drink that stuff. I'm also very impressed by the dessert offerings. We had cookies and the peach cobbler. So good! I'll be returning regularly. Deep Sea Vegan is it, y'all. My mouth is all watery just thinking about that sauce. Try it out. Thank me later.

Yelp
This is an amazing place and the owner Kendall not only came out to introduce us but also told us how the business started. The food was absolutely delicious and was 100% vegan as were the desserts. I loved the personal stories that he shared. It's also wonderful to support a black owned business and my daughter, husband, and I had a wonderful time. Hope this business continues to grow and continue to serve phenomenal vegan food. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We got to stop by this afternoon and as a non-vegan, I would have never guessed everything was plant based. We were able to walk right up and order with the recommendations of both the experts. We ordered the Crab Cake Sliders, Blue Lagoon Cobbler, a Sand Doodle, and the last Chocolate Coral. There wasn't a bite left. The Chocolate Coral (Chocolate brownie with molten chocolate core) was melt in your mouth and tasted amazing. The Blue Lagoon Cobbler had a soft warm texture with a nice blueberry taste. The Crab Cake Sliders got a 5-Star praise from the healthy eater of us two (not me). I overheard a "these are really good" in between the bites. It's quite amazing that all of this was plant based. Aside from the food, everyone that was there from the moment we took the order to the moment we got handed our food was super friendly. It was cool to see them go out of their way to see what we thought about the food and be willing to converse with everyone. Definitely a great first experience and it won't be the last.

Yelp
So good! I ordered the crab cake sandwich, which came with the side of golden reef chantillí mashed potatoes. They were both really good!! And I got the black sand which was a chocolate avocado mousse with cool whip and crushed Oreos. Divine!! I would definitely go back. Check their pop-up Hours on their website! Thanks for a great meal!

Yelp
I didn't think I was going to get full!! BUT I was so satisfied when I received my meal. I got the new meatloaf with potatoes and slaw!!! OMG! My taste buds were extremely satisfied. I have been trying to make vegan meatloaf forever and everything about this was perfect! The sauce, the texture, the seasoning! I will be back for sure! -Queen

Yelp
The food and service is excellent ! Love the crab cakes and blueberry cobbler. Called ahead to order and it was fresh and ready on time. Will eat here again when I'm in town.
