"The Deer Path Inn offers English-style charm, afternoon tea, a pub, two restaurants, plush rooms, and an inviting lobby with fireplaces and gorgeous furnishings. During my recent stay, I enjoyed a tasting in the Hidden Wine Cellar and a wonderful cocktail-making session with Master Mixologist Jorge Centeno, the Inn’s “Chief Spirits Officer.”" - Travel + Leisure Editors

"The main reason to go to Lake Forest now is a weekend away at the 57-room Deer Path Inn (from $329 per night), a fabulous, little-known gem that puts you in arm's reach of the shops and lake, and offers many experiences available only to guests. Opened in 1929 with the style of an authentic manor house, the elegant inn feels as storied and local as it does far-flung and English. Spacious, modern, and sophisticated rooms offer upscale amenities (think Frette linens and bathtubs that fill from the ceiling); recently, the inn began in-room delivery of its popular Afternoon Tea service, complete with a tower of tea sandwiches, petit fours, and tartelettes. Patio dining in the English Garden at Deer Path is scenic and doable in winter with heaters. Guests at the hotel can also reserve the inn’s hidden cellar for a new, private, and totally custom cocktail or wine tasting paired with dinner that's led by Deer Path’s fun and expert chief spirits officer, Jorge Centeno."

"Patrons feel instantly glamorous upon entering this inn, set in a suburban Tudor manor house and brimming with stone fireplaces, rich fabrics, and opulent chandeliers. The regal experience continues at the bar, where Jorge Centeno greets drinkers with a menu of thoughtful classics with fun spins (a “Winter G&T” with pine syrup and peppermint; a “Holiday Mule” with cranberry puree and cinnamon). That creativity plays into the martinis, too: A dirty martini is made with chrysanthemum flowers and bee balm brine over olives, and a Manischewitz martini features a garnish of latkes and jelly doughnuts." - Nicole Schnitzler

By far the most handsome place in Lake Forest! Such a charming place to visit all throughout the year. My most favorite time is Christmas. Enjoying a pre-dinner drink at the bar or in the cozy, hearth room by the stone fire on a blustery day is pure bliss. The service is impeccable and the food is consistently delicious. I prefer eating outside on the patio during the warmer months but equally enjoy the garden room. I usually order the beet and goat cheese salad and a Alaskan Halibut. I’ve enjoyed afternoon tea several times for special occasions and it is always a pleasant experience. I always leave with a box of goodies for home!

The Christmas Brunch has quickly become a favorite for our family with the holiday decor🎄, impeccable service, and the food....the selection of foods is unrivaled. Beef, sushi, fish, breakfast, and the variety of desserts offers something for everyone. A small table is set for the kids too choose their meals. A new Christmas tradition for us. And Santa comes to your table to say hello. 🎅

This is everything you would expect from a North Shore wedding and more. Between Windsor Hall and the white glove service I was impressed from beginning to end. Behind the scenes Felix was my point of contact and he was a total pro. 5 stars!

I’ve sat inside at a table in the bar, and also dined outside by the fireplace. Service is repeatedly excellent. Quality of food and flavors is wonderful. Outside is nice and peaceful. Down in the bar, it feels a bit enclosed.

Living in the area over twenty years, this was my first experience at the Deer Path Inn. It was most impressive and delightful. My daughter and her family are staying in their hotel, and rooms are first class all the way. Wonderful design and layout, well thought out. There were seven of us for dinner including three grand babies. The menu has something for everyone including the children. My dish was the Garganelli pasta with a short rib ragu and shitaki mushrooms. At first I thought it was a strange combination, but it was a delicious combination of texture and taste, very well executed. They accommodated special dietary needs as well as the food for the children. Entrees run between $15.00 and $41.00 à la cart. Since the theme is English, one might have expected dull boring English food, but that is not the case at all. Everyone at our table really enjoyed their dishes. The Deer Path Inn is a hidden gem in Lake Forest, Illinois. In addition to the food, I found the service to be top notch as well. I know one of my daughters has been coming here for years, but I don’t know why she never introduced me to this gem? Tap on the 👍 below 👇 before you leave.

Had lunch on the interior courtyard patio. If I had closed and reopened my eyes, I could have imagined that I was transported to England. So beautiful. The service and food matched the beauty of the Inn. I would gladly go back.

Grabbed dinner and a cocktail at the casual bar downstairs before a concert. Service was great and so was the atmosphere and food.

All dishes had too much salt including the French fries. Disappointed with the food. But it's a cute little inn.

Yelp
The dining SERVICE has plummeted! It is one of my favorite places to go in the Chicago area because it is such a beautiful place, but something has drastically changed with their level of service. We had to get up and find our waiter to get service. I hope it improves because I absolutely love the atmosphere in all of their different dining areas within the inn. It's a very special place and poor service should not be part of the experience.

Yelp
Place is cozy warm and such a great place in the fall and winter Stand out service and staff Strong drinks and excellent cocktail menu

Yelp
We attended an afternoon tea at the Inn and had a lovely time. I will say the hostess was a bit condescending but our servers George and Jacky blew us away with their professionalism, knowledge and attentiveness. Delicious finger foods and tea with a gorgeous backdrop? Can't be beat.

Michelle A.

Yelp
First of all the room was lovely. Our server was delightful and our three levels of little sandwiches and lovely desserts were delectable. We were served Chamoagne after we sat for a few minutes and then we gave our tea orders. Shortly after that we were served our three tier platter and our tea. It was a lovely few hours. To our surprise we all got a tin of the tea we ordered. The Inn is charming and what a fun place to stay if you have the time Just a note there is complimentary valet parking. Glad for this High Tea experience.

Yelp
A stunning location! A group of us went to tea on a Wednesday afternoon. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They knew their tea and made recommendations. The finger sandwiches were really good. We had a marvelous time! Highly recommend this location.

Yelp
I've been going to afternoon tea at the Deerpath Inn since it was first introduced. Taking my mother there for her birthday during the first week, it was a wonderful experience. Sitting in the atrium/greenhouse like room with marble table tops and a view to the English courtyard, the atmosphere was elegant. The Inn had arranged for an expert from the UK to work with the chef and train the staff on a proper tea. The food was delicious and the service ideal. Many years have passed and unfortunately, the food has declined significantly. The sandwiches lack in flavor and proportionally are mostly bread. The mini quiches are a lower quality than the frozen ones I pick up from Costco and they are often cold. The scones are a quarter of the size they used to be (my last visit was November 2024). They are also cold and tough. Seconds are not offered/available. The sweets are uninspired. Too many macarons (which resemble store bought) and one yellow sponge with blackberry on top that I thought was slightly stale (or leftover) the first time I ate it. The second time, I realized it was just bad. It is really unfortunate that the quality of the food has deteriorated. The Inn is quaint and environment is special but the food is not up to par. If you do want to try it, surprisingly, reservations must be made several weeks in advance. My hope is that the Deer Path Inn kitchen returns to providing a higher quality food for the tea experience and better value for the dollar.

Yelp
Fantastic food and atmosphere! New Years day brunch was excellent and service was top notch! Never disappoints on any front! Highly recommend if you are in the area!!

Yelp
Went for a mom and daughter and was utterly disappointed. For over $150 we saw our server for a total of 3 minutes, got one tower for the both of us and when we asked for another said they couldn't accommodate (while our neighbors to the right, another party of two, got served two towers upon sitting down), and took away our glass for the "complementary champagne" while refilling the tables across from us. I guess they assumed we were done because our server just stoped attending to us? Utterly disappointing.

Yelp
zWr too had Sunday brunch at the deer path inn. The service and food were very good. We enjoyed a very good buffet and will do this again. Dinner has been excellent as well as the hidden tavern.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite place to be in Lake Forest! This had been a favorite of my family for years. I love the Tudor style building and gardens area. My family and I love coming here for birthdays and any big celebration. Last night, my family came for my mom's birthday dinner. We were seated in the English Room and had great views of the garden. The room reminded me of being in a old fashioned greenhouse/old garden pavillion in England. To drink, I had a Cosmo. It had a very pretty pink color. Appetizer: my family and I split the charcuterie board. The fig jam was amazing! Entree: I had the scallops and wild mushroom risotto, which was very good. Very filling. Later, we went to the downstairs bar area and had a drink. I had the Fuller's London Pride Ale. Overall, a great experience! We will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Two Strikes & You're Out! First strike: Went to Deerpath Inn for dinner with girlfriends, arrived early, sat at the bar for a drink. Despite sitting in front of a bartender, I literally could not buy a drink! Meanwhile, men were ordering and being served drinks over my shoulder. It was as if I was invisible! Second Strike: Wanting to give them a second chance, I booked a table for Easter Brunch with my 89 year old mother in law. Reservation confirmed. Then, without as much as a phone call, cancelled, leaving us scrambling. Apparently, they had a glitch in their reservation system. When I spoke with a manager by the name of Mario, asking him to make it right, he engaged in sexism & defensiveness and explained how I should be "nicer" about the situation. I highly recommend diners do not trust this establishment with their guests!!!

Tasha M.

Yelp
It was fun while it lasted, I guess we won't be going back here again.. When we arrived no one told us there was an elevator but someone did offer to help us carry down our stroller. The service was horrible, we were not made aware that only the buffet was available until after we were seated for 20 minutes waiting for the rest of our party. Sunday brunch is $68 for adults and $35 for kids, gratuity was added since we had a party of four adults, a toddler and newborn. Right before we left another guest from a nearby table went up and cut up is own meat because there was no one around to help him. Aside from the service, the stale bread and subpar spread left me wanting more. It is no wonder the dining room was pretty much empty. I don't expect much when it comes to a buffet food as it's usually the same most places. I had prime rib, charcuterie, oysters and cocktail shrimp. My daughter enjoyed the sweets table. Our table in particular was shunned by the wait staff as our server did everything to avoid coming around to our table. We were the only table with a toddler and newborn there, could that have been it. In the hour and a half we were there they only filled our water once and we had to wave them down which was a battle in its self my husband and our friend took turns trying to get someone's attention. It maybe me regret turning down the offer for a mimosa or Prosecco when we arrived, but as I'm still nursing I wanted to avoid alcohol. We weren't even given any other option of drinks available. It was our first time joining them for brunch and was going in blind. Truly wish we could get our money back. A far cry from the service my daughter and I received for tea time just weeks before. It's such a beautiful location, it's such a shame. I've never seen my husband so irritated about the bill. No one even made us aware that they were starting to clean up or that service was about to finish. I had so much hope for this to be able to find a spot to bring the family that is not in the city but there's a reason why we would rather pay more and go through traffic for good service.

Yelp
The Deer Path Inn lives up to its reputation as a luxury wedding venue. Between Windsor Hall and the white glove service I was impressed from beginning to end. Behind the scenes Felix was my point of contact and he was a total pro. 5 stars!

Yelp
I was so excited to finally check out this beautiful establishment, sadly I will not return. We were a party of 4, one guest ordered a caesar salad, and she received, chopped lettuce and a few croutons.... she literally had to ask where is the dressing?! I know mistakes happen but that def set a bad tone.... Then we ordered the beef tartare and it looked like different pieces of beef kinda all glued together, some pieces gray and some more pink. It looked so bad, my husband sent it back. Im glad he did, as I was concerned about food poisoning. The service was sooooo slow. I had the filet mignon and Id give it a 2 maybe. Ugh so sad because I really was excited to eat here. Much better steak at Wildfire or Perrys. Desert was not good either, I had the Big Arse Chocolate cake and it looks fabulous but thats it. Tastes awful, dry and underwhelming. My friend had the coconut truffle, again, dry and nothing special...tasted like box mix. Overall, our server seemed overwhelmed, we had to flag him down to just order our entrees and then pay our bill. It was a Saturday and we had high hopes. We sat in the Garden area. Will not return to dine here.

Yelp
The Deerpath Inn hotel serves high tea in the enclosed sun porch of the English Room! It's a beautiful, bright space that's so inviting you won't want to leave. I'm a sucker for a killer ambiance and this place nailed it! It FAR exceeds a few of the high teas I've been to around the burbs and in Chicago! I also love that you can adjust your food preferences accordingly! They did a great job with the vegetarian sandwiches and it didn't feel like second thought like some places! The scones are so tasty and tart with the lemon curd. They may have been my favorite part! The tea itself is high quality, deep flavor and you get a jar to bring home! If you enjoy high tea or just a wonderful ambience - come here and don't think twice! I plan to make a quarterly visit here and I'm actually headed back tomorrow for two of my friends birthdays!

Yelp
This review is for tea to go.... I had been at the Deer Path Inn years ago but was recently reminded of it as it won an award for one of the best hotels. Our schedule was pretty hectic, so instead of going to tea, we decided to do takeout. I ordered online, which was really easy, though it would have been nice to get a reminder closer to the date. The space is beautiful and it was packed (not sure if that's normal - or if it's due to the recent award) but I had to wait longer than anticipated for my pickup (I assumed it would have been ready so a + and - that I had to wait but food was fresher). Staff was super friendly - they almost forgot my actual tea so he ran back to get it. Valet and street parking.

Kitty B.

Yelp
What a gem and a treasure . A lovely spot with a welcoming and beautiful Cotswalds aesthetic. Consistently delivers on food, ambience and experience. The best Dover sole we've ever had; the banana Nutella is a must; the service is always friendly and exceptional. The outdoor patio is a private retreat. Never pretentious, always impresses, whether out of town guests, family holiday meals, brunch or a summer lunch on the patio, DPI never fails to please.

Robert K.

Yelp
Service was good. Ordered the steak tartar as did another guest in our party. His comment was " this is the worst steak tartar I have ever eaten. It looks like dog food"! I agreed, this was the worst steak tartar I have ever been served, could not finish it, was disgusting! I ordered a salad for a main course which was just above mediocre. My two dinner guest had fish they thought was good. After reading the new menu and dining experience tonight, very disappointed, will not return for awhile. It appears there is a change in staff and perhaps the chef. None of the wait staff was familiar as I have been a regular diner at the DPI for years, lunch and dinner. Very disappointed.

Ed H.

Yelp
This a great boutique- very comfortable, great service, clean- everything you want from a local specialty hotel. Recommend highly! They have all the particulars taken care of. On site pub and restaurants are very good. Quiet and relaxing. I have a small recommendation for them- more Christmas decor!! It could be a great Christmas vibe place.

Jesten M.

Yelp
Exceptional! Beautiful. We can came when it was busy and they took great care of my wife and her family that was in town. They stayed at the hotel and we're very impressed.

Mark S.

Yelp
Many perfect dinning experiences. Perfect in every way. Fine wines by glass or bottle. Amazing servers. Any season a joy.

Brittany H.

Yelp
Literally the worst service of any high-end restaurant in the North shore. For example it took 40 minutes to get water and we sat without silverware for 20 minutes after being served our appetizer. Other tables were just as upset and there is a reason why recent reviews are complaining about the service just as us. When I asked for a manager while we were walking out, a guy in a tshirt ran up and when I asked if he was the manager he replied "yeah I guess". This place has gone down hill completely. There are so many other places to go for a special occasion or date night than this. Don't waste your time.

Shelly C.

Yelp
Last night, I had one of the best meals I have ever had... ( I. Am 74 and eaten all over the world) we ordered Brussel Sprouts first as the appetizer, best I have ever had, sautéed perfectly. I had Dover Sole as my main course, again, excellent. And finally, the Triffle as dessert ( 4 of us shared the appetizer and dessert). Generous craft cocktails, amazing service. One of the best "high end" restaurants... in the area!!!

Jacqueline A.

Yelp
The food... is AMAZING. My husband and I have been coming here for years. It's a stunning place, the food is incredible and we are always treated with kindness. The filet, potatoes and scallops are delicious. The bar area is very classic and timeless the cocktails were incredible.

Jack K.

Yelp
Omg this place is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of Chalet from Rainbow 6 Siege. I've never seen a more beautiful restaurant. There's not much I could eat on the menu so I got an Impossible burger. I wish there were more vegan options but aside from that its a very good restaurant

Suzanne S.

Yelp
Abbott Labs bought this and renovated it because they need a place like this for their own purposes. This hotel is very well run. The bar and pub are mostly booked up. The English room is a great very formal place to eat. I recommend this place. The bar food is nothing to write home about but the ambiance and the hotel are so nice to be in. You won't leave here hungry. The prices are great. I have always wanted to live in their condos and I knew a couple of people who do and have.

Patti L.

Yelp
Worst restaurant around. Do not order afternoon tea at this restaurant the English room. I ordered almost a month ago for my daughter's birthday only to get a call and say they are fully booked but I can pick up food and tea to go. We live 46 minutes away. My daughter wanted to have a place to it and eat. Then I was told because I prepaid on line through Tock which is on their website I had to go to tock for refund. Well tock has on the website the restaurant has to refund through reservation system. It has been a nightmare and restaurant reservation lady isn't making matters any better besides having to try and get a place to eat last minute for the birthday.

Kristy B.

Yelp
What an absolutely beautiful, charming hotel. From the lobby, to the pub bar, to the English Room Restaurant and finally to the guest rooms, the Deer Path Inn has an exquisite decor and such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are some of the most professional, friendly individuals we've ever met. The front desk staff, including Michelle and Shelby, were incredibly helpful and accommodating. Our servers were attentive and personable. We look forward to returning for another stay. We would not hesitate to recommend the Deer Path Inn to our friends and family.

Nicole E.

Yelp
I called and made appointment and spoke to someone at 10:56am. Mandy told us they have no reservations for us. Mandy said they never take any high tea reservations for the day of at all. They go through dietary restrictions and other information with the party ahead. I told her I should have taken the name of the woman that took our information. The male staffer said he would check to see if they had enough tea sandwiches and let us know. They were able to accommodate us last minute and gave us some bottled waters in the interim while they set us up a table ahead. The squirrel with the mask in the front entry is a tribute to the squirrel that used to come here to get some snacks. We got a bit of Prosecco, some berry kisses tea, chocolate cream truffles and the black currant. Hicham is waiting on us. Our tea set is Wedgewood wild strawberry. The poppy seed scone was okay, a bit dry and lacks in flavor. The lemon curd, Devonshire cream (clotted cream) and the berry preserve were all good. The black currant and berry are both nice teas. The chocolate truffle tea is decent. The roast beef with the horseradish and watercress is okay. The shrimp and taragon lemon dressing in a puff. The chicken herb salad with slivered almond is a decent size and quite flavorful and yummy. The roasted tomato quiche is good, crust is a bit dry, but has a nice buttery flavor to it too. The goat cheese and asparagus quiche was also okay, same dry crust. The Victoria sponge was decent, some preserve inside the sponge. The chocolate mousse cup was quite tasty. Fruit custard tart was also good. The opera cake has a nice slightly crunchy bottom layer, some hints of coffee, it's good. The citrus cheesecake wasn't my thing. They do give you a sample of each of hot teas. My husband realized when they gave us a sample of each of our teas that he got the cherry fig instead of his chocolate truffle. The chocolate truffle is nice, had a bit of coconut in it as well. $165 for 3 of us after tax. Food was okay. Service was good.

O G M.

Yelp
Great pub and customer service. Oh the sushi was to die for. I can't say enough about the staff and their friendly customer service! Keep it up and can't wait to come back

A. L.

Yelp
We ate at the Pub yesterday and it was ok. They gave us a brunch menu but never even asked if we would like coffee or tea? The service was very slow and the waiter never checked up with us to see if we needed anything. My husband got the pub burger with fries but he was never asked if he would like ketchup/mustard??? We expected so much more from a high end restaurant in Lake Forest.

Annette B.

Yelp
The food and drinks here are gorgeously served and plated but the food is pretty bland. Staff here are incredibly kind, though, and the building itself has a lot of interesting decor.

Emmett F.

Yelp
There is a reason why Deer Path Inn is consistently voted one of the best hotels in the world. Entering this space, you are immediately transposed into another, more gentle world, and you truly feel like you are in a special place. The staff could not be more attentive. And the food... magnificent... whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner in the bar, or a fancy dinner in the main restaurant, it is simply exceptional. And here's the thing... the food is priced pretty well! You pay a similar price for a meal at the pub as you would at other bar restaurants in the area, but the quality here is on a different level. Simply put, this is a local treasure, and I encourage anyone to visit at any time of day.

Andrew W.

Yelp
-They're over staffed and top heavy. I've never seen a restaurant with more managers than servers like they had. -The changing table is missing a strap so when you try to change a babies you know what it's hard to do. -The menu is a bit boring and underwhelming for brunch-eggs 15 different ways and 7 other options. -Don't think the value is really there. $30 for a salad with chicken which is borderline between small and medium.

Mary Jeanne M.

Yelp
Yesterday, my daughters took me to Deerpath Inn to celebrate my birthday. It was perfect and the brunch was wonderful. There were so many choices each one better looking than the next. I ordered a Bellini Cocktail and it came in a beautiful glass and had a yellow pansy on it. So pretty and the taste was exquisite. My granddaughter was also with us and it was a treat for me to see her in this setting. The service was right on the mark, they could not do enough for us. There is also complimentary valet parking which made it so easy for us as it was starting to drizzle and we had ample time to be inside and cozy.

Aaron M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great service. We've eaten here three times now and I don't think any of the food has been exceptional.

Ruth L.

Yelp
My husband and I have been to hundreds of hotels between the two of us so we recognize an amazing resort when we see one. The service is top tier, amazing drinks, clean rooms, great food, and I can go on and on!

Margaret F.

Yelp
Three of us had afternoon Tea today. Our waiter was George. Extremely personable and helpful! All in all a lovely experience. And the price is much more reasonable than the hotels in the city.

Lisa A.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I've dined here so it's been renovated since I was last here, but the food is as good as it used to be. With Covid-19 they do have some outdoor seating but not much however the day we went it was drenching wet outside so the indoor dining was perfect. They made an awesome summer drink called a summer margarita made with watermelon that was delightful. My friend ordered the fish and chips and I like how they used fritzs instead. I had the Dover sole and it was wonderful. Service was delightful and I liked so many things on the menu, I will have to come back. You all know by now, I'm into clean and neat bathrooms so I'm glad this has one, too. I did notice a lot of the patrons dressed very nicely, but I was coming from work so not all put together but that didn't rub the service team at all which is also a plus.

Cory K.

Yelp
The coziest most wonderful old rustic setting. If you want fancy decor or modern, go elsewhere. On a cold snowy night, it was perfect. Awesome portions (you must try the chocolate cake) and the drinks were fun, festive and delicious. You could do a casual night or nice dinner date and feel as though you fit in. Also, thank you for keeping my credit card safe until I returned three days later to grab it.

Matt R.

Yelp
Really liked the ambience and decor of the inn. We ate in The Pub restaurant and really enjoyed it. Service was excellent as was our meal. Drinks were very good as well. Definitely a place we will come back to.

Judy M.

Yelp
I stayed here recently on a trip to visit my son who is in the Navy. There were so many things that went wrong at this hotel. The stay started off fine. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the bellhop, Drew, who brought my bags up to the room. I was happy to tip him for this service. Check in went fine as well. I was very tired due to a flight from the West Coast. I ordered room service and was happy with the food and the delivery and was also very happy to tip for this service. My room was also pleasant. It all started to go bad the following day, however. I was told that complimentary pastries and tea would be served in the Hearth room in the am. That sounded great to me as I had eaten a late dinner and knew I would not want much for breakfast. I arrived in the Hearth room @ 9am. There were no pastries, only tea. I went to the front desk to inquire about the pastries and was told that there were pastries in the room and that I should go check again. So, I walked back to the Hearth room to double check and, as I already well knew, there were no pastries. So, I walked back to the front desk to let them know that indeed there were no pastries, lol. At that point, someone was dispatched to bring more pastries. I had originally been told that pastries would be available until 10am so there was still an hour where I assumed other guests might also come down for tea and pastries so imagine my surprise when literally someone showed up offering me one of two muffins that they were holding in their hands. It was just very odd. Normally, if a hotel is going to offer this hospitality then they make sure the offerings are replenished and certainly are not expecting guests to walk back and forth asking for them. Perhaps I should have lowered my expectations because things just kept getting worse. I encountered two hostesses at the restaurant and both were poorly trained. Neither knew how to properly interact with guests. The icing on the cake, however, was when the gentleman who apparently is in charge of food and beverages took it upon himself to interrupt myself and my son (who, by the way, was dressed in military uniform) and inform us that we were not allowed to open the shears at the window we were sitting next to in the Hearth Room because we were wrinkling them. Without pause, this person reaches across our tea setting and pulls the shears closed. As I began to protest, he went over to a different window and pulled those shears open and proclaimed that if we wanted open shears that would have to do then he pranced out of the room. I was absolutely flabbergasted. We had the shears open for a reason. It is very dark in that room. I had sat by the same exact window just the day before reading my book for hours with the shears pulled open and it was not a problem. Who was this idiot?! Not only did he disrespect me, he disrespected my son who is serving this country! I have stayed at many luxury hotels and resorts around the world and I have NEVER been treated as rudely as I was treated at this hotel. There were a few staff members that did a wonderful job. The front desk staff and I spoke to at least 3 or 4 of them were always very courteous. The guys at the front door bringing in luggage and opening doors are also very polite but unfortunately the few poorly trained staff who are walking around like they own the place ruin the whole vibe. Please retrain these people or turn them loose. Also, please be mindful when you have service members at your hotel. Remember to thank them for their service and show respect. It's a very easy way to show gratitude for their sacrifice and service.

Yelp
Beautiful historical hotel. The tea time experience was amazing... our Buckingham Suite was one of the most amazing places we've ever stayed in on our travels. The biggest thing was the EXCEPTIONAL service before we even arrived. Michelle in guest services reached out to help us with dining and went above and beyond to give us very specialized treatment from the moment we reserved our room.. we will be back, and we will tell our friends.

Yelp
There is no consistency here. 3/5 stars - The grilled octopus and pork belly appetizer is difficult to mess up but it was overdone. 1/5 stars - The medium rare angus filet mignon order was absolutely cooked to beyond well done. Today's vegetable side was literally 4 carrots. It was not a good dining experience this time around.

Yelp
Not much to say besides Wow! We visited Lake Bluff to see our son in laws family and they had us stay there. The service, the size of the rooms, etc all made me feel rich! Ha

Yelp
We were so excited to stay here after so many friends recommended it.. we showed up after a long flight around 230 pm.. valet was super nice.. got to the front desk, this is where it began.. a very disinterested young man flatly checked us in and said no room until 4pm.. ok.. no problem.. is there somewhere we can get a drink? Flatly waves his arm towards the left, yea, down there.. um... ok... we walk in the direction he flailed towards, down some stairs to a basement pub, with hard wooden church style pew benches at some tables.. there was one employee sitting watching some sport on tv.. a waiter flies by and we ask is there a bar? He proclaims 'NO, SIT'... um. Huh.. not any place to relax, at all.. we head back to the lobby.. I sit looking like a lost child trying to find something on yelp, but of course, no internet and because we were not checked in, couldn't use the hotels. My husband goes back to Mr Warm and Friendly and asks if there is a local map.. flat NO.. UM, OK.. asks if there is a dress code for the central dining room.. flat NO.. We head there.. CLOSED FOR SEATING.. back to my seat and yelp.. kicking myself for not thinking to look ahead for a place to grab a snack and a drink.. sad to say, apparently they have a beautiful garden on property, we never knew about it or saw it.. we wondered out like lost kids and found a nice Italian place with wonderful service near by.. we had 24 hours to cancel our remaining nights stay.. I cancelled. For 500 or 600 a night, all in with tax 700, I would rather say at a holiday inn.. we finally got our room, same snot was at the desk.. had to laugh. Was my birthday, they sent a nice email to my husband asking if we were celebrating anything. He said as such.. nothing done, all good. They did have a bottle of wine in the room for purchase.... WITH ONE GLASS. haha so dumb.. anyways. I would not recommend this place ever. It sucked. We had a view of the roof, we laughed. When we checked out the gal asked us if we enjoyed our visit, she was nice enough but before I could answer, she started scrolling on her cell. Haha. Perfect ending

Yelp
What stood out? The fact that they wouldn't put the sound up on the TV during the Super Bowl. Why call yourself a pub then? Disappointing.

Yelp
As you enter you are greeted with a welcome. The vibes of the restaurant feel great it reminds you of a fancy undercover secret agent base. Looks can be deceiving. I had high hopes for quality food since the price was reasonable to unreasonably high. I would rate the service and food as follows: Service: 3/10 Reason: our waiter did not ask us if we had any questions on the menu. I would recommend to ask plenty of questions as what you order is not always what you get. Once we got our food, my wife and I were pretty disappointed with the presentation and taste of the food but I will tell you more on my food review below. The waiter never came back around to check on us to see how we liked the food which is supposed to be a restaurant standard thing to do. The service is as I say 3/10. Like I said "looks are deceiving". Food: overall 2/10 Taste: 4/10 Presentation: 3/10 Time to get our food: 6/10 Price: 3/10 - quality of food does not meet price.$$$ Overall would I come back? No. The service and food was so bad all we can think about was how bad the experience was. I would not recommend friends to come to this restaurant. Do you and your friends a favor do not eat at this place. You'll thank me later.

Yelp
What a beautiful establishment! As we were making our way to the lower bar, I was in awe of the charm and history of Deer Path Inn! Thank you to the manager Fahd for seating us in the back bar so quickly and checking in later on our dining experience. The service was great, they kept our waters filled and offered additional rounds of drinks too ;). We shared three appetizers: edamame, Spanish octopus and sea scallops (very flavorful and delicious). We also shared the filet mignon which was perfect. Lastly was dessert and that was a banana, Nutella trifle of some sort, which I HIGHLY recommend. Will be back next time I'm visiting!!
