21 Classic Restaurants In Mexico City - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"Many Japanese spots in town focus on perfecting a single specialty—sushi, ramen, and katsu sandwiches. We love this minimalist institution, which has been around since 1995, because they serve all the above in one place. The tempura and deep-fried dishes, like the perfectly crunchy fried chicken, and cocktails inspired by Japanese pop and punk culture, keep us coming back. As does the fact that they’re located in a less gentrified neighborhood, so we never have to squeeze into a cramped sushi bar or struggle for a reservation. What else Diego has going for it is Kaito, an upstairs izakaya bar that’s become a destination in its own right." - mariana camacho

Best restaurant I visited in the whole neighborhood. Upper-middle service, not that long waiting. Good alimentos as the base for the platas. Misa-soups can be pretty spicy btw.

When we arrived at Deigo on a Sunday afternoon the place was full, and we had to wait a few minutes - not a problem. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but in the end it is too much of a mixed bag. The location is very convenient to us, a short stroll across Parque de Arboledas, and near metro División del Norte. The ambience is lovely and feels authentically Japanese. The service was very polite, and fairly efficient. They certainly have enough staff, even with the restaurant completely full. We both ordered naranjada, but it was a little too sweet for our taste. The fried gyozas came out promptly, but lacked any character. Moreover, they were very small for the high price. Our main dishes were the yakitori, (the best thing we had), and the tan tan men, which was very salty. The spice level was good, but the flavors didn't compare with the exquisite meals we had last year in Tokyo. There is a lot of competition in Japanese restaurants in this neighborhood, and many can match the quality here but with much more reasonable prices.

Google
Deigo it’s one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Mexico City. The ever expanding menu has now sandos, ramen, tori kariague, udon and delicious desserts. Mexican Japanese restaurants used to be all about sushi, but now you can taste izakaya food plus tsukemen and other tasty choices.

Google
The japanese food here is excellent, service was great. Decorations and scenery is very traditional Japanese, thus is great and lovely. I my opinion, I just felt it's a bit overrated and so price is a bit too high in my opinion. Overall it was a great experience, had great food and great time with friends, I do recommend Deigo.

Google
The restaurant clearly has a solid background, I feel the food is extremely salty. The fish in my Teka maki was not the as fresh as expected. The matcha lemonade is a no go, as it is a weird combination. Overall it's ok and on the expensive side. We paid almost 900 pesos for two with only one ordering main course. The desert was good.

Google
Great spot for Japanese food. I tried the corn miso ramen, nigiri sushi special, edamame, green tea ice cream - all was delicious except the nigiri - the quality of sushi compared to Sushi Iwashi in Polanco is not even close. I would stick to the other Japanese dishes here outside nigiri options.

Google
Fresh, authentic and delicious! We had a fantastic meal at the bar. The chef is meticulous and set a high standard... Costumer service is wonderful. We were received with sake and opted to try the mixed sashimi platter which was accompanied by authentic (natural) wasabi grated on a sharkskin surface. We continued with a nigiri feast, followed by Japanese style fried rice (yakimeshi) and gyōza platter. Tea and desserts. Beautiful!

Google
Food is good portion wise, tasty. Prices are decent. I liked the ramen, especially because it has miso broth. Fried crab was tasty. The dessert with coffee jello and ice cream is ok. Service is fast and friendly. The venue is quiet and cozy.

Yelp
I love ramen; it's easily my favorite food! So when my friend told me about Deigo Ramen in Mexico City, how could I not go? The place is small and very popular, so come with a bit of patience. The setup is super efficient: when you arrive, you place your order at a machine and wait outside. Once a spot opens up, they invite you in, and your food arrives within minutes. I ordered the Tan Tan Ramen and was in pure umami heaven. The noodles had the perfect consistency, and the broth was incredibly flavorful without being overpowering. I also tried the gyozas, which were more like mini fried empanadas...crispy, savory, and absolutely delicious. I'd definitely recommend this spot to any ramen lover. They really know what they're doing here!

Yelp
What a great surprise! We came here spontaneously and it was awesome. You sit at the counter and get to see all the action in the kitchen. After placing your order on the screen, you take a seat and are greeted with complimentary green tea. The chashu ramen was delicious! The soft boiled eggs were jammy and well seasoned. A must try if you need ramen in CDMX

Yelp
Ambience. A Service. A Food. A Price. A Found in area with lots of other Asian restaurants and behind the local shopping mall. Street parking or probably park inside shopping mall. Beautiful design and sit at counter and watch ramen being prepared by friendly Mexican staff. Clean and Japanese modern and they even play all day - Japanese pop rock music. Order at a self serve kiosk and pay before sitting down. There is always a staff to help with ordering at the auto kiosk. Español, Japanese and inglés assisted. Holds about 16 seatings and counter sitting. They offer FREE real powder matcha tea with your order. YEA! There are HOT and cold water taps. I case you just want water. Albeit having free tea is perfect. My order for pork belly soy miso broth was presented within 10 mins. Gorgeous fresh Asian ingredients- fish cake, marinated bamboo, seaweed, jammy egg, and very fatty beautifully roasted pork belly! I wanted spice on the side as I wanted to taste the broth. They accommodated my request with spice on side. No charge. Great friendly service, great Ramen!!! Just as good as being in Japan all around experience! I'll be back whenever in Mexico City! I'm a FaN!!!

Yelp
Delicious fresh and generous portions and great service. Located in the heart of the Zona Rosa. Long wait but it was worth it.

Yelp
Great tasting ramen! Only sits about 18 people so knowing the make sure you are ready to wait around 45 minutes to an hour. Well worth the wait

Yelp
Owner is a good dude! Food is always consistently good. Fresh ingredients and they pour a good drink.

Yelp
Extremely good. Had the kawaii-Tini cocktail which was extraordinary, the Uni nigiri which melted in my mouth and was to die for, and the tokusei maki roll which was great. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the gyoza, it was beautifully steamed but the inside mix was a bit bland. Great ambiance inside, nice decor, wonderful service, all around a great experience and i will be back. Between my cocktail, gyoza, roll and 3 pieces of nigiri (two Uni and one tuna) and a tip I spent about $55. Not cheap but very worth it.

Yelp
Best price to quality ratio for japanese food in DF. Tempura is amazing, so is eel, udon, ramen...havent had a bad meal here out of 20+ visits.
