First-Ever Food Truck Lot Opens in the Warehouse District | Eater New Orleans

"NOLA now has its very own permanent food truck lot: Deja Vieux Food Park opened this past Saturday at the intersection of Religious and St. James Street in the Warehouse District. I'm happy it includes a full bar, and Facebook fans rave that the happy hour is killer." - Alison Baitz

Google
Luckily, we found this great bar/restaurant on our first night in New Orleans. We traveled spontaneously over Thanksgiving weekend with our 3 dogs. Déjàvu Bar and Grill welcomed all of them, treated us like regulars, and served excellent local food — each dish better than the last! One note: they offer gluten-friendly options, but I should have also asked for dairy-free, since butter is widely used in the local cuisine. Highly recommended — we had a wonderful night!

Vanessa B.

Google
Went because it was close to our hotel walking distance had a hamburger and fried pickles. Wait staff was friendly and food was good. Place has an interesting history.

Google
No one under 21 can enter this establishment! It’s a cute dive bar restaurant! We came and it was empty which for us was great! 6 of us got a table and had quick service! I love wings and these wingers were GOOD! the fried pickles were so good and so glad they didn’t come out as spears! The waiter was super friendly and attentive! Would definitely come back if in the area!

Google
Officially my favorite bar in the French Quarter. The food is great. The appetizers were tasty. The breakfast and coffee brought me back to life. The pours and the staff are far above average. There's a reason we went back and will go back again and that reason is Benjamin. What a guy.

Tara K

Google
Staff was wonderful and so was the food! Had my first po boy here! The bartender was so amazing and really looked like he enjoyed his job and the company he held.

Google
Couldn't recommend this place any higher. When you visit, make sure Pixie is your bartender and you're guaranteed a wonderful time. She helped make the experience one of the best I've had in New Orleans. The catfish po' boy and the bacon cheeseburger were amazing. The gator balz were great as well.

Google
BUYER BEWARE!!!! 0 out of 10. Do not eat here. Sorry to the owner and management. Your staff needs to do better. Our waiter was horrible! He was drunk or hungover(I’m not judging; I’ve been there). He just needed to try to give some kind of service. The shrimp on the po’boy was over-fried and dry. The tails were left on. I almost choked on one. To top it off, my friends paid for food they did not eat. Literally, 2 bites and they pushed it away. The worst part is we had to pay 18% gratuity because there were 6 of us. I do have to say the manager or the owner, I don’t know which he was, was super nice and understanding.

Amber N.

Google
Great service and atmosphere !!! The gator balls are phenomenal, the meat pies were fantastic, jambalaya was amazing, and the red beans & rice was to die for

Yelp
We were looking for a quick lunch before our tour started. Our niece recommended we pop into her. She was right. We said we had a tour around the corner in less than an hour and our friendly server said it would be no problem. We split a club sandwich which was quite good. Quick, friend, and yummy!

Yelp
Sometimes we end up here after parades. Casual spot to chill and have a few or to eat and relax. Pretty good food. Very friendly bartenders. Good drinks - always leave full and tired.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite spot in Nola it's right off bourbon street. The food is phenomenal and the prices are great. The drinks are made to perfection and you won't find these prices on bourbon street. The bartenders are always the friendliest and so helpful. It's a chill vibe with delicious food. The red beans and rice with the spicy chicken sausage is my favorite but very hardy. The Cajun meat pies are to die for. No more pics cuz we ate it all.

Yelp
Such a cute little joint. The bartender Eric was so funny and cool. Loved his cowboy hat and

Yelp
If I could give negative stars I would!!! We have been staying right next to this place for years, on vacations. Yesterday we went in and were told repeatedly by the bar tender how downhill the place has gone. We were in denial! We paid way too much for a bloody mary...but tonight, we ordered salads, at 9.99 each. When my husband picked them up, they were packaged in a box that was worth 50 cents...for 9.99!!!! We are sick that this place is doing what they are doing. So disgusting!!! We will NEVER go to this place again! They have lost the business of us. Again, we have been going to this place for years! NEVER AGAIN!!!! 9.99!!!

Yelp
HORRIBLE service. Walked in with a group of 4 friends and felt immediately unwelcomed. there was one other table in the restaurant who was already closed out and it still took the server almost 10 minutes to come get our drink orders. He walked up to the table with no "hello", no "how are you?" NOTHING, only "did y'all decide what yall want". Atmosphere was completely off and we all collectively decided to leave and go somewhere else. We all worked in the service industry and couldn't imagine treating paying customers the way we were treated.

Yelp
THE BEST BAR IN NEW ORLEANSSS! Seriously i'm so happy we stumbled into this place on our trip because we quickly became regulars. Love the bartender, such a great guy with hilarious humor. The vibes of this place are amazing and everyone is so friendly and welcoming, we tried a couple of the food menu items like the fried pickles and their po boy which were both delicious. I can't say more about this place, you just have to go in person and witness the greatness for yourself.

Yelp
I'd give zero, but can't. Chose those place because they had more menu options than most local places.... When we entered we were the only people there. Sat down, ordered drinks, and the "waitress" came to take our order. We have dietary needs and allergies, so I asked about a food item, I asked if the pot roast had celery, and she said she didn't know... but before finding out she just said "we don't do no substitutions, let me tell you something about this restaurant, we are more a bar that serves food. Everything comes in prepackaged, we don't make anything here." She wouldn't look to find out if the pot roast had celery, just that she assumed so since it was prepackaged. She was very annoyed that I even asked- like I should know they're not a "restaurant" ( which in their name), but just a bar that warms food. What struck me more than anything was the complete lack of any patience or interest in caring for customers, and her attitude in general that I even asked one question. She was very rude. I share this to say- if you want a bar that can serve a warm heat up meal- by all means give it a try. If you're looking for a restaurant to eat in and try local fare- probably choose anywhere else- literally anywhere. After she ranted, I said that we would no longer eat there and we left. She was rude from start to finish the whole 5 minutes we were in there.

Yelp
This was across from our hotel Prince Conti and it was our last night and I wanted some American food I was burnt out of seafood and Cajun. Don't get me wrong I love it but it was our 4th day

Yelp
Kind of out of the way, quiet bar that serves food. Kitchen was open. Walking distance from the Hyatt Centric. Three booths and a few tables. The server was very chill and friendly, good energy from her. I only had the red beans and rice and water. My husband had the club sandwich. His sandwich was HUGE. He was only able to finish half. No fries. He said it was good. My red beans and rice were good too. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. We ate at 10pm-ish. We were the only ones there when we walked in. A couple and a man walked and sat at the bar soon after. We sat at a booth. The seats were sticky. You know, how when stuff needs to be given a good scrubbing. The table was better, but my arms would stick a little bit to it too. All that I could overlook. I was hungry, it was open and I hadn't eaten since 1pm. I wanna be clear that what I ate that night there was the only thing I ate that evening. The only other thing that I had eaten that day was at about 1pm. A few hours later, at about 4am, I had the worst abdominal pain and without going into details, I was up for a couple of hours in the bathroom. Throwing up AND the other end too. I was in pain and in bad shape until about 8pm. Was it the food? I don't know, but my guess, as a medical professional of many years, says probably. It was too bad cuz that took me out for a whole day of my vacation time in New Orleans. This was a first experience of its kind in the many times that I've been to new Orleans. A trip that I will not soon forget.
google avatar

Yelp
Yes. Classic diner food with kind folks. Yes: you may see some characters but it's New Orleans
google avatar

Yelp
Good olé Deja Vu! It's such a dive but a reliable stand by for us locals who love to hang out in the quarter. The food is good -nothing fancy but decent enough to keep going back from time to time. They do sell breakfast all day which is nice. On my last visit I had the grilled chicken entree with veggies. It comes with grilled onions and mushrooms on top of the chicken. It's good. I also like their turkey burger, obviously a frozen patty but good enough that I've ordered it several times. Staff is always friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
we stopped here to grab some breakfast, since it was around the corner from our hotel. We got in sat right down. It was much nicer looking inside compared to the outside. They seemed to have a lively bar, with lots of people drinking and watching football. There were lots of people in there eating breakfast as well. We ordered a classic type of breakfast and Biscuits and gravy. We ordered right away, but it took a while to get the food. In the meantime, they kept out drinks ( coffee and water) filled. The classic breakfast was pretty ordinary, I didn't care for the biscuits and gravy, very little flavor and it was $11! I forget how much the breakfast was (maybe $14) very ordinary and over-priced.
google avatar

Rooty T.

Yelp
We had breakfast at Deja Vu on a mid Sunday morning. I had biscuits and sausage gravy with a cup of coffee, others had eggs with hash and eggs with ham. The biscuits tasted homemade and the gravy was hot and delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked over easy but the hash was canned version which was ok. Service was very friendly, I would definitely go back. They have 3 slot machines so diner's must be 21 to enter the restaurant.

Yelp
Bar food. Typical end of the night, I need to saturate my stomach after drinking, bar food. This place seems good for just that. We came in for early dinner and chose it because to the closest place to the one we'd chosen that was unexplainably closed. The service was great, food was fast, and everything we ordered had lots of breading. Fried pickles were mostly fried and not much pickle. Onion rings were also lots of breading and flavor but not much onion, but the one in my party who ordered them said they were some of the best onion rings ever. My chicken finger platter was loaded with fries and the chicken was good...but again, it was surrounded by lots of breading. There as a grilled chicken option, as well as steamed vegetables and several salad options. So I could have gone healthier, but I didn't.

Yelp
Great spot for a meal in the French Quarter. We stopped in with some local friends for lunch after a full morning drinking and shopping in the area. It was packed, but we were able to score a table as another party was leaving. Our server was super friendly and accommodated our group quickly; you can tell he does this frequently. I ordered the Juicifer IPA ($9) and the Catfish Poboy ($16); both items were excellent. Restaurant/Bars like Deja Vu are the types of places visitors should seek out when trying to go-it local. I love places like this because they are what makes a city like NOLA great.
google avatar

Hayley G.

Yelp
We ate at Deja Vu several times throughout our trip and everything was delicious. Throughout the days we got the southwestern egg roles, a BLT, nachos with the best chili, Cajun meat pies, and pictured an open faced hot roast beef sandwich that I will dream about and chase for years to come! Service was great! We hung out here for football Sunday with Benjamin and he made us feel at home and welcome! He was great entertainment and kept our drinks full! We also hung out with another fun bartender and watched the game show network with her but didn't happen to catch her name. If you're in the area looking for a quiet dive bar with good home cooked meals and friendly staff this is it. We will be returning next time we're in town!
google avatar

Peach P.

Yelp
Amazing service! What a cool place. We stopped in before our 1p wedding and had a blast! Benjamin is THE best!!!!!!!!!!!!

Megan S.

Yelp
Service was slow and there was only 1 other couple in the restaurant, fryer oil needed to be changed weeks ago, and barely any meat on the po-boys. Pulled pork was so burnt tasted like they scraped it off the bottom of the saute pan. Won't go again. Left hungry.

David T.

Yelp
Attentive bartender, the shrimp PoBoy was fantastic, and the prices were not ridiculous.

Darlene P.

Yelp
Hamburgers good. Chicken fried steak edible not much to brag about at all. Turkey poboy not so good.

Patrick B.

Yelp
Run of the mill bar menu. The boudin balls were great. Drink prices were ok, but it's definitely a dive. The shrimp poboy I had was bland and was mostly bread. Fine for a late night snack and beer.
google avatar

Krista J.

Yelp
Nice casual dive bar atmosphere with great selection of food and drink. Super friendly staff.

Ray Y.

Yelp
It's a fantastic dive bar. If you're not a dive bar fan don't go. That being said it's one of the best dive bar experiences I've had. Benjamin is 111/10 for customer service and never skips a beat for entertainment. Didn't have any food but other patrons were finishing their baskets/plates with ease. If I lived in the area it would be my go to. Heck might go back when they open. If they were open 24/7 might live there.
google avatar

Kimberly W.

Yelp
So, I didn't have any grand plan to stop here. I was walking around the area checking out the usual tourist haunts, and nothing caught my eye. Then, stupid me, after not having had anything but beignets and coffee, I got to the point where I just had to pick the next thing I passed by which was serving food at about 2pm. Since I got there between lunch and dinner, there was only one other occupied table in the place, and they cleared out soon after I got there. I picked the Crawfish PoBoy just because I wanted something that goes with the city. The bar tender / server took my order and not much time had passed before my food was ready. I enjoyed the sandwich, though granted, anything would have been good at the time. Pretty competitive prices for the area, and it was an easy in and out before I was onto more tourist traps. So I don't know that it's a destination spot, but if you're looking for a dive bar with food and don't feel like going all the way to Bourbon st, this is a good place to stop. For still being in the area, it's a bit off the beaten path.

Timothy C.

Yelp
We stumbled into this place on Mardis Gras day and what a blast we had ..Benjamin the bartender was the best he made our day ..The food was good and the atmosphere was awesome ...We will be back for sure.
google avatar

Jane V.

Yelp
Love the burgers my boyfriend and I had for dinner. Service was quick and attentive. Ambiance was nice. Everything was clean bathrooms smelled good. Bartender was kind.

Mary Ann G.

Yelp
Slow day after Christmas. About noonish. Thought I would have lunch after long walk. Bar was empty, really, but the locals were sitting at the bar. Seriously loud..but hey, it's Noly, so ordered simple BLT, and cold beer. Then came happiness. I got over to the booths where it was less noisy. Just a neighborhood bar. No flash, no rush. No juke box, but nice cold beer and good bar food
google avatar

Robert N.

Yelp
The service alone earns the place five stars. We were warmly welcomed for a quick drink. Benjamin was funny, attentive, and a delight! The drinks were as to be expected and not disappointing whatsoever. Go here to experience your friendly neighborhood bar. We will return to try the food.
google avatar

Stacy M.

Yelp
Place was empty but the food was surprisingly delicious. Good dive bar food! Plus, they serve breakfast even at dinner time.
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
By far, one of the friendliest places to grab a bite or a drink in New Orleans. I happened to stumble onto this establishment one morning after a night of heavy drinking, and Benjamin behind the bar was so friendly and took great care of me and my family. The food was great. The atmosphere was wonderful and all the locals that came in were kind and fun to talk to. I highly recommend dropping by for breakfast while you are in New Orleans.
google avatar

Terry S.

Yelp
We came back to our room and we were exhausted. So we walked over to a restaurant that was right around the corner from our hotel, it's called déjà Vu. The interior is not fancy, but it did look clean. We asked for some suggestions we were told. Everything is good, but I decided to get the shrimp ettoffee. I had never had it, but I would have it again. We didn't take any pictures so I don't remember what my friend got. But she liked it, and she tried my ettoffee and she liked that too. This restaurant was just around the corner from Bourbon Street. I imagine it could get busy.

Yelp
Loved this place. Awesome food and drinks. Atmosphere is cool and boasts an intriguing history
google avatar

Yelp
Great place, breakfast is always available. Good drinks a great place in the French Quarter
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite after a late flight. Our server was very customer service driven Our chosen drinks were great (I swear I made that coffee myself)) My catfish poBoy was amazing!

Mark S.

Yelp
recommended to us by one of our tour guides. The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious and unique (the boudin balz were delicous and perfectly cooked) and their special bloody mary is really delicious! We came back for New Years Eve!
google avatar

Tom M.

Yelp
We had breakfast at Deja Vu on our first morning in New Orleans. It's a nice little bar that serves breakfast. Nothing remarkable and no breakfast items on the menu that have a New Orleans twist to it. If you're looking for a straight forward breakfast, this is a good place for that. The service was good, the food was good, no real complaints but for New Orleans I guess I expected something a little more.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Pretty good food at this place. Service was a bit slow, but it picked up some. Shrimp po boy was good. Fries came out separately but were hot and fresh. They didn't appear to have the same spice as the other fries ordered, but they were good. My daughter liked her chicken strips as well.
google avatar

Alexandra Jae S.

Yelp
We stopped in wanting a chill dinner away from the chaos and this fit. It is a relaxing, good playlist, dark bar vibe which we love. Eric was the bartender, and he was friendly. He gave us good suggestions! We split two entrees. One was the blue cheese burger, which was so good, I love their blue cheese. We also tried the catfish poboy, which was pretty good. I added a lot of hot sauce to it, I think it needed something tangy like a remolaude or something spicy to pair with it. It was a good, quick and affordable meal!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
This was a fun spot to watch some of the March madness on St. Patrick's day. The Cajun meat pies were very good. Next time I will would try more of the menu, the food others had ordered looked good. The bartender was very knowledgeable about some of the local craft brews and was very attentive even when the place got full. Just off of bourbon street I'd highly recommend this spot.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
They discriminated against me for my disability and refused entry to my small service dog. I don't care who they donate money to, it doesn't make treating people this way ok. Nasty, rude, entitled staff with an empty business. I called my lawyer and reported them. Apparently I'm not the only disabled person they've treated this way- photo attached. Hey DeJaVue, get a lawyer!!
google avatar

Leslie T.

Yelp
Best Red Beans & Rice in the Quarter! We go here on every single trip which is 2-3 times per year.
google avatar

Joanna T.

Yelp
We stopped in for a drink before dinner and ended up having a fun time here. Deja Vu is definitely a little divey (no problem with that) and probably best for beer & simple drinks. Don't make the mistake I made and order wine, you will be very sorry (Andre sparkling, say no more) That said, the bartender was SUPER nice and the other patrons were cool. They were playing great music too. We opted for some fried pickles and they were the best fried pickles I've ever had - the breading was just a little spicy. If we didn't have dinner reservations we would definitely have stayed longer!
google avatar

Tanisha W.

Yelp
Reasonably priced delicious food! Great location and good service Reccomend for quick bite for a great price.
google avatar

Jill P.

Yelp
Deja Vu was very fun! The bartender, Ben, is a hoot! I sat at the bar and never went dry and got my food ordered and delivered pronto. I asked the cooks, they said the gumbo was great and Boy Howdy! It was perfect! Looking forward to visiting NOLA again.
google avatar

Keith H.

Yelp
Nice casual place for breakfast, lunch & dinner. We had breakfast here twice. We had omelettes and biscuit with sausage. Both were fresh and tasty. We came for dinner and ordered roast beef poboy. The roast beef was not shredded but thinly sliced. It was juicy enough but not too much and had a good flavor. This is a definite eating place for us when in the quarter.
google avatar

Erik E.

Yelp
We were caught in the rain one afternoon and needed a spot to hide that served up food. Pulling up Yelp this was close and looked like it could work out. The exterior of the building oozes NOLA charm, yet the interior is your average dive with TVs. Service was quick to start, yet our order took a long time to come out when we were one of two groups in the place. All the food was okay and served its purpose, yet every item is priced essentially ala carte. Want fries with your po-boy that already costs from $11-13.50? Add $3. Want onion rings instead? Add $6. Or maybe a side of gumbo? Add $6. Four a group of four with only three beers our total came to over $150. The most expensive meal we had during our five day trip. How?! Looking at our bill it all added up correctly, yet man this place is expensive for your average bar food. Oh, you'll probably want a drink too... If you order a beer, be prepared to be badgered for your choice. Maybe if you had an actual cocktail menu I'd try something besides a beer. Also, don't bother with a tap beer, by taste alone you know the lines have never been cleaned. My opinion? Skip it.
google avatar

Jo R.

Yelp
Service was not great, but food was wonderful. I had the sausage poboy, it was so good!!

Jennifer F.

Yelp
What an authentic NO restaurant and bar. Best Bloody Mary in NO! The red beans and rice compare to no other!! Fish PoBoy was to die for!! Great onion rings too. They were happy to see us when we walked in! Great service and atmosphere!! We will be back!!
