DeKalb County Tax Commissioner - Central Office

What a great experience! I honestly was shocked on how efficient they are there. I got a tag and title transfer done within 5 mins of walking in the door. I was in and out and the staff member at kiosk 7 was nice and helpful.

Just like anyone else, I cringe whenever taxes are even remotely mentioned. However, I have learned over the years to call early and arrive as early as possible whenever I need to handle business "in person." I applied online for my registration renewal sticker on 2/19/24. It typically takes 7 to 10 business days to arrive in the mail - and done for the year! This year, for some reason, it never came... So, I reconfirmed my online renewal and called the Tax Commissioner's central office this morning (spoke with Tracey - EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!) she advised me that I could come to the central office and get a free replacement... And that is exactly what I did. Getting there early made it possible to get called to the window within 2 minutes of my arrival (TWO MINUTES!)... From my arrival in the parking lot to putting on my renewal sticker took a whole 10 minutes! The saying "The early bird catches the worm" is astonishingly accurate and I have nothing but praise for the fast service, politeness, and accuracy of the DeKalb County Tax Commissioner's Central Office!

Agent Lonnie Almomd Jr was so professional & kind. My mother & I were at the tax office changing over my tag & he walked us through the process swiftly. He not only was helpful but we both were impressed how he single handily quieted the crowd down without any disrespect. I truly believe he should do some kind of journalism work because his voice & energy were amazing! Thanks so much Mr.Almond JR

Loved It ! The new experience and new management is awesome and great ! And fast and efficient! As SOON AS I STEPPED IN AND GOT MY TICKET IT WAS BEING CALLED BEFORE IT WAS DONE PRINTED LOL ! I actually went twice on this same day ! Was in in out in about no more than 5 mins ! Will definitely come again and recommend!

2023-2 Update: The Tax Office did everything they said they would, exemptions were investigated with the new year and all applicable exemptions granted. A letter confirming the actions was received yesterday. A special thanks to Ms. Carlton for all her help. 2023-8: We had a few hick-up with taxes and tags when we moved here a couple of months ago, that were effectively fixed when we either talked on the phone (vehicle registration), or in person for the homestead exemptions. Friendly snd knowledgeable staff. On-line stuff is sketchy…. Do it in person. It worked much better. 4 stars for the on-line, 5 stars for the personnel.

After previous experiences with motor vehicles (another county) I was expecting to be massively frustrated registering my car. Wow, quite the opposite! It was easy making an appointment online. We showed up a half hour early and checked in at the kiosk. Not much later I got a text with my ticket number and soon after it was called. As great as the technology was, the incredible service I received from Audrey was the highlight. My mom was with me and she is not easily impressed, but she most definitely was. Audrey’s knowledge, professionalism and caring attitude made this experience seamless and pleasant. Great job!

Paid over $500 for a tag just for them to ship it to my old address as If she didn't understand that I said I no longer live there, then make me write down my new home address just to NOT send it there. The mail will be return, and I'll probably get a ticket if I don't get the tag and registration before the temporary expires. Stop hiring people who can't comprehend basic work.

Was very pleasantly surprised with my experience. I made my appointment online, checked in through text when I got there, was seen almost immediately. Service was provided by Agent Q-Hale quickly and friendly. Was the easiest experience I've had at government agency.
