Where to Eat and Drink in Corvallis, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Overlooking the Willamette River, the upscale Del Alma draws inspiration from Latin American, Caribbean, and Spanish flavors. Adobo-rubbed filet mignon arrives topped with smoky blue cheese butter and a shiitake mushroom roasted garlic jus, while chile-spiced cauliflower “chorizo” flautas, sitting in a smoky salsa ranchera, come sprinkled with cotija. For drink pairings, Del Alma’s extensive wine list includes German rieslings, Oregon pinot, and Spanish tempranillos; the cocktail menu features a number of inventive drinks, including the restaurant’s take on a mojito, made with house-infused chocolate, cinnamon, and yerba maté rum. Every Wednesday, the restaurant offers a three-course prix fixe for $30. It’s open for limited indoor dining, summer patio dining, and takeout." - Mariah Botkin

A pleasant atmosphere with good food, very good cocktails , and very polite staff. Given the price tag for the dishes, the portions are certainly lacking . I’m glad I ordered as much as I did, the appetizers were very pricey for small portions. The halibut chowder for $10 was tasty, but was the most shallow “bowl” of soup I’ve been been served . I’d say maybe a cup of soup spread thin into a bowl.

All I need is a slightly larger menu with larger portions that keep me here longer. Bar side atmosphere is quaint and comfortable. Table seating is awesome with 4 more tiers of a few tables overlooking bar area. Wine bar side was decently sized. Scallops were great but small. Bourbon old fashioned from bartender 1 came with small ice. Grapefruit tequila old fashioned (recommended and decent) from bartender 2 came with large (grapefruit soaked?) ice. Will return!

Went to celebrate a birthday with two couples. We sled to be seated on the second level and they accommodated us The atmosphere was lovely and our server attentive and recommended some delicious items from their menu. We had drinks and a couple appetizers before our main courses of Salmon and tenderloin. They surprised the birthday guest with a sweet little dessert too!

One of our favorite restaurants! This place is a gem in downtown Corvallis. We visit frequently and the food & service is always spectacular! You absolutely cannot miss this place if you find yourself in Corvallis!

Google
I had an all star experience last night. Our server was wonderful, attentive, sweet, helpful etc. Timing was great for everything and each dish was perfectly prepared. The setting is clean and open, bar setup is beautifully layed out downstairs with brick and that dining area has a large window outlooking trees and a walkway with a bench. Wine list was adequate and had local picks. Dessert was flavorful and not too sweet. Overall I'm very happy and will return. Worth the hour journey there for just the food alone. Healthy options go well with my fitness goals. Every time I visit. I have the most wonderful experience. This is one of my favorite spots and I wish we had one in my home town!

I've sit at the bar lounge. Waitress was super nice and she knew well the menu. I've read another comment about the food being cheap compared to some big cities restaurants. I was shocked to get that much food with high quality ingredients for the price I paid. They have a Great selection of wine and I appreciate the flight option! I would have appreciate a little music as. Ambiance but other than that it was a great experience.

Never a bad time. I always end up ordering too much. This trip we had the beet salad which is our favorite. I've been holding off on trying the crudo as I'm kind of a raw fish snob coming from Hawaii and they did not miss it was amazing. Also had an amazing pozole. Filet mignon with Bleu cheese butter was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. Finished with creamy raspberry creme brulee and chocolate torte were both phenomenal.

Another great meal at del Alma. This is probably the best, most consistent restaurant in Corvallis. My wife and I made reservations through Open Table and noted in the app that it was our anniversary. There must have been four restaurant staff that separately wished us a Happy Anniversary. And, as usual, the food was excellent. Try the bacon guacamole appetizer for a tasty twist on an old favorite. My wife had lamb mole, and I had halibut for our main course. Both were delicious.

Yelp
This place! Hidden gem for sure. My husband's client suggested we try del Alma and I am so glad he did. Every thing was so great from the moment we walked in to the very last bite. All the flavors are delicious, you can taste all the layers, everything is so fresh and unique. We had the asparagus for an appetizer, I had the chicken for dinner and my husband had the filet -- *chef's kiss* Our server was a delight, she had excellent suggestions, she was so friendly and everything came out perfectly. I was texting friends while we were eating telling them they need to try it. We will be back and we will bring friends because everyone needs to experience this place. Very classy little restaurant! I don't often give five stars, but honestly I couldn't find one thing to consider a negative.

Yelp
Ok... this was the best meal I've had in a restaurant this year. The food was delicious and beautiful and absolutely perfect portions. Eva our server was delightful and knowledgeable. She made great recommendations and was patient with the family members who took a bit to decide. We sat in the "drop in" side of the restaurant which was comfortable and pleasant. I will make a reservation next time and sit in the "restaurant" side. This was not an inexpensive meal, but it was great quality and truly delicious. We were all quite pleased and are looking forward to going again soon. If you like tapas this would be a place I would absolutely recommend. Not pictured, we also had the queso fundido and the crème brûlée... both were terrific!

Yelp
Ug bring Cavemate for special day. Eat and share many treats(small plates). Taste range from expected to bless the gods for these offerings. Main dish made experience just that bit more. Dwelling staff and manager is of the best quality. Feel and light of river cave is very comfortable. Cavemate enjoy cocktails, recommend spicy one. Ug enjoy house refreshment non fermented. Would return for that nectar alone. Ug say you go, enjoy

Yelp
When you're downtown and want a meal with a view, definitely come through. This restaurant is downtown on the river. Even during the winter of my discontent, I still want to be near a body of water. And there's no secret handshake. (If you know, you know). Lots of after work cocktails and yummy appetizers. del Alma does not disappoint. The staff is classy for Corvallis. This isn't fine dining or anything like that, but it's thoughtful and has some special touches. I mean that with all sincerity and heart. They want you to have a fantastic and memorable experience. I asked for some appetizers without the meat, and it was no problem. So we enjoyed the guacamole sans bacon. The guacamole was good but pretty simple for guac. It's still a delicious start, and the plantain chips are the standout. I think it could be served without tortilla chips and only the plantains. Next time I want to try their brussel sprouts sans the chorizo. We had the quesadillas and asked for some hot sauce to go with. I think it really should come with a hot sauce, but it doesn't, so remember to ask. We were brought a stunning arbol sauce that had all the kick we needed. I liked the quesadillas, but when looking for vegetarian options, it's not typically what I'm craving. The beet salad was the knockout dish tonight. The beets were warm, the goat cheese sauce creamy, the marmalade filled with flavor, a surprise fennel shaving that added some flair, and a sprinkling of hazelnut that gave the perfect crunch. I will eat this again. For dessert, you must have the key lime pie. It's an adorable specimen that is the perfect amount to share with someone who says they don't have room for dessert. It's served so lovely, too. It's worth a visit even if you stick to the appetizers and dessert. I would like to see some classier cocktail glasses and garnishes. They have a lovely bar and cocktail menu, so it would really boost that selection. I would also love one more vegetarian option, but if you enjoy meat, you'll have plenty to choose from. See you soon, del Alma.

Yelp
Personable service, thoughtful and kind. Delicious salsas and the beef in our Arepa was tender and perfectly seasoned. The tortilla strips were addicting!

Yelp
This place was delicious. It certainly beats bar/casual dining at the Courtyard. The bar area is for people without reservations and it was perfect. I haven't eaten all day so order 4 apps. It came very quick and was yummy! Yes, I ate them all. My favorite was the shrimp dishes. The yellowtail crudo was great also.
google avatar

Yelp
All of the drinks we tried were delicious. The appetizers and entrees were flavorful and well thought out. Overall solid meal.

Yelp
Del Alma is just a few steps outside of the Courtyard by Marriott property. There are other eateries right next door. I hoped to try them all and started with this one. Del Alma is a small-ish restaurant. The ambiance is modern with romantic lighting. With limited seating, I ended up at a tall bar-style table with high bar-style chairs that would have been more comfortable if I were taller and not wearing a dress. The not-so-comfy seating aside, my service was excellent and my meal and wine were delightful. Dinner and one glass of wine set me back almost $60. My only wish is that I had more comfortable seating (regular height table and chairs).

Yelp
We went to Del Alma based on Yelp reviews. The food was as good as it was presented. We all enjoyed our meal so much we made reservations and returned the following evening. My husband loved his steak and the halibut the next night equally so. Service was fast and attentive throughout the meal for both nights. Ambiance was upbeat and welcoming. We very much enjoyed our time there and plan to return.

Yelp
I really have no complaints and I would consider myself a food critic. First off shout out Molly. Wow she's amazing. What a humble, service first host. She was attentive and her vibe was just awesome! If you read this and get her tell her about this review lol! On to the food! I had the filet mignon! It was juicy when cooked medium. The mash potatoes were awesome as well as whatever those greens were. I also had a hibiscus tea. It was niceee. Over all I give this place a 9.5/10. I travel a lot and I taste lots of food. Very rare to get a close to perfect rating from me. Give this place a shot!

Yelp
What a nice dinner we had here. We had some diet restrictions and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. Even a dessert that isn't on their menu. Francesca was the most amazing server and so helpful. We really appreciated her. We will definitely be back again.
google avatar

J. H.

Yelp
Amazing! Just stopped for dessert and had a tapas plate, too. The steak was very good and the key lime pie was yummy! Del alma pina colada is still my favorite cocktail there.
google avatar

Yelp
Who knew you could find fine dining in Corvallis! Classy casual to elegant dining room. Attentive servers. Beautifully presented tapas. Perfect cosmo. They let us take three hours over our food and drink while we caught up with old friends.

Yelp
This is a fabulous restaurant that celebrates Latin cuisine. Each dish we enjoyed had complex and depth of flavor. I didn't take a picture of the corn soup I had, that was also amazing. Hector was our server. He was attentive, pleasant and friendly. I hesitated coming here because who has Latin cuisine at this price point in Corvallis Oregon? I grew up eating Mexican food both at the taco stand and at the "elevated" restaurants in LA and Miami. Del Amo is delicious. If you are an OSU Beaver, you can even have your school colors. I have never had bacon guacamole before. A perfect appetizer. Upscale atmosphere without the pretension. Extra bonus points for being within walking distance to the Courtyard by Marriott, on the riverfront and a nice boardwalk. I wish we enjoyed something on the cocktail menu, but we brought a bottle of champagne for this occasion.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, service and the amazing hibiscus sour. Oh, let's not forget key lime pie. Amazing.
google avatar

Bill D.

Yelp
Amazing, to say the least. Went here on a business dinner and glad we did. A little hard to find but very much worth the effort. Establishment is upscale and well decorated with derive second to none and given with a great attitude. Two of us had the Carne Asada, the other the Filet. Keep in mind, this isn't your dads Carne Asada, and that's all I will say about that. The meat, seasoning etc., was unique and tasty. The Key Line Pie isn't your mothers, either. I must admit, I have never seen such a presentation. Our server said it was " Like eating clouds it's so light!" She was right. BTW, the Bacon Guacamole is unbeatable. When in the area, get onto Open Table and make reservations. You won't regret it!

Ray A.

Yelp
Very good, maybe a little rich, good service, if not rich don't go I recommend this place, bring at least a $100 for two
google avatar

Kien T.

Yelp
Food pretty good, service is amazing! The drinks are pretty reasonable I had the Sargent pepper !
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Oh my *insert whatever being you talk to when things are amazing*!!!!! Thank you to everyone involved in the production of this restaurant because it is amazing in every way. The cocktails, tapas, main dishes, service, ambiance, attention to detail, textures, freshness of ingredients.... All spot on. We had a full table of food and drinks with 3 courses and the bill was only $100.... Unheard of in today's world.

Yelp
Top 3 restaurants I've eaten at in the history of ever. Francesca is the absolute sweetest she took great care of us, top notch service, the drinks were fantastic and the food, OMG. All the flavors, so clean, so elevated, so balanced! Of course bacon would be good in guac but I've never had or seen it before, everything was cooked perfectly, all around just the best of the best.

Yelp
Lamb dish had stunning flavors with the polenta. Friendly staff. Surprising formal ambiance in usual casual downtown Corvallis. Be sure to walk along the river before or after your meal.

Yelp
Delicious flavor. I ordered medium and it was perfect. Soft, juicy and flavorful. Great presentation. Would higher recommend.

Yelp
Truly some of the best food in Corvallis. Delicious cocktails, yummy tapas, very good service. We had the potatoes bravas, yellowfin crudo, chilaquiles. The potatoes were great, the crudo was Stellar. The dips for the bread - white bean, red peppers and goat cheese, and tapenade were so good. The chilaquiles were not good and went largely uneaten. My Hemingway daiquiri was scrumptious. The hacienda salad was disappointing to my daughter and she wanted me to give Del alma four stars. I thought the salad was fine, if unexciting, and I think one of the best restaurants in this college town with mostly mediocre food choices deserves five stars. My god she is picky. The outdoor seating was fabulous - right along the River, watching the world go by. The seats were comfortable, the vibe relaxed. The inside looked a tad stuffy for our tastes. D was wearing shorts and most of us outside diners were pretty casual. Inside was pretty but a bit stiff and formal. Anymore, I want to relax when I'm eating a nice meal - I've had a lifetime full of pretentious eating experiences. We took our dessert to go because we were so full. It was creative and delicious - flourless chocolate cake with a bit of orange with roasted hazelnuts, a passion fruit caramel, and Chantilly cream. So great to eat grown up food in Corvallis.

Yelp
We took a friend from out of town to Del Alma. As usual Del Alma does not disappoint! The food was excellent, the wine was fantastic and the service was superior!
google avatar

May L.

Yelp
Great food and great service. It would have been perfect though if not for my steak that was lathered in sauce. I wanted to try the lamb but ended up trying the steak because it's the dinner special. We had salmon, conchinita, gnocchi, and scallops. We had chocolate torte for dessert. Would definitely come back to try the other ones on the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food plus pleasant atmosphere Have visited quite a few times. Just had a delicious steak, rare as I had requested, salad was crisp and flavorful, wine was perfect accompaniment for the meal and cocktail was a perfect starter. Staff was attentive and warm. A little spendy but worth it

Sarah M.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. Service is always fast and efficient. Love going on date nights here or just sitting in the desert room for a small bite and glass of wine. Great for any occasion.

Yelp
Delicious food and nice atmosphere. I have had a good experience every time I have been to Del Alma.

Yelp
Fabulous dining experience. Service and ambiance are excellent. Wanted to return for Valentines Day but waited too long.

Yelp
Delicious Happy Hour eats. Cozy and comfortable bar. Friendly service. Key-lime pie is excellent

Yelp
Great ambiance, tasty food, and well mad cocktails in the hearth of Corvallis. Probably top 3 date night place in town. Had their filet mignon and cold soup. Everything was good. The service was friendly and professional. Great place and must try if you are in Corvallis.

Lindsey L.

Yelp
So I ordered Mac and cheese, and it was extraordinary. Very well seasoned. Although they didn't allow refills, the drinks were amazing and the waitress was so kind and sweet. It was also my grandma's birthday and she put a candle on her key lime pie and she was so happy. And omg, the environment is so comfortable, and the lighting was beautiful. Really recommend this place!

Yelp
First time in Oregon and for our first meal to be at Del Alma it will be hard to keep up the high standards set by this amazing establishment. From the amazing taste of all the food, to the incredible service provided by the two bar tenders. If the rest of my trip goes as well as my first stop in Oregon I might have to leave California. Thank you so much for such a wonderful first impression.

Tom S.

Yelp
I have taken my daughter to Del Alma twice while visiting her at Oregon State. Excellent Latin America and Spanish inspired dishes in an upscale yet comfortable atmosphere with quality service. The first visit was to celebrate her birthday and they went out of her way to make it a special dinner. Both times we dined on a Wednesday night when they offer a three course dinner including starter, entrée and dessert. There were three options within each meal segment - and the choices all sounded good so it was a tough choice! We varied our selections so we could share and each try two options. For starters there is an appetizer, salad or soup. The entrée options included excellent gourmet executions of enchiladas, tacos, bbq pork, etc. Desserts included traditional options such as key lime pie and upscale fun takes on churros, crème brulee and more. All were delicious and beautifully presented. Very nice selection of reasonably priced wines and a few local beers on tap. Looking forward to my visit with my daughter at OSU and dinner at Del Alma.

Yelp
Arguably the best restaurant in Corvallis. Classy, Good Food. Excellent Service. The atmosphere is fun and elegant yet casual in that way we love. Thank you Del Alma and staff for a superb dining experience. Shout out to Hector for his warm welcoming presence. And to Lydia who is an amazing server.
google avatar

Deron R.

Yelp
I'm sorry to say that I wasn't as thrilled with the food at del Alma as I was before I visited. Now again it was in the middle of covid and I'm sure there's issues with getting the proper foodstuffs in the store. But everything was just a little off and didn't hit the mark. I'm going to try it again cuz it could have been an off night etc. Stay tuned for another review when I'm back there in mid September. Over and out
google avatar

Carmela G.

Yelp
Everything was great! You must try their Papas Fritas and Tequila Prawns tapas! I got the pozole and mushroom quesadillas. Pozole was very very good. Not so impressed with the quesadillas. I tried hubby's Lamb in Mole Coloradito and it was the best! I also tried my son's Carne Asada which was to die for! I will definitely be back!

Yelp
What an excellent place to find, not just sustenance, but truly creative and delicious food, little works of art that taste great. We sat the bar because we didn't have reservations and the place was hopping. I'm taking a break from carbs, so I'm not drinking, and this was the first night I was sad. The bar puts out some amazing cocktails. They are very clearly mixologists, with their own lime ice cubes, and hand crafted alcohol mixers, I really wanted a Manhattan. Oh well, next time. We had that big salad earlier in the day, so we got two appetizers. I ordered the Sausage and Brussel Sprouts and my cutie ordered the Crab Tamale. Both were very good. Cutie said about his, "Sublime. It has a subtle nuisanced flavor." I'm not eating carbs so I couldn't taste. But, I thought it must be good because he rarely uses those types of words to describe anything. My Brussels were delish! The combo of Brussel sprouts, sausages, tomatoes, egg yolk hollandaise, and cheese, was complex, creative, and yummy. Since now we are both speaking in some sort of artistic language that isn't typical for us, I think that Del Alma probably will make you smarter also. I say YES, go experience the food that will raise your IQ. And, enjoy!

Seth B.

Yelp
The best restaurant in Covallis, bar none. Not cheap, but overly priced for the quality. Creative and delicious. A great place to go with friends or family for a celebration.

Yelp
Wonderful food atmosphere and cocktails! I went for my birthday. I'll definitely be going back for my anniversary this year!

Yelp
Del Alma Restaurant is an impressive and fancy restaurant in downtown Corvallis which serves delicious foods inspired by Central and South American cuisine. There are a variety of tapas, salads, entrees, desserts, cocktails, wine and much more. Once you are seated they bring out their signature bread with olive tapenade and spreads (all delicious)! The inside is upscale and beautiful, and the outside patio is charming. The staff are professional and friendly. Bon Appetit!

Yelp
This has to be one of the best places in Corvallis. Every item that I ordered simple delicious and you could see that the restaurant pays close attention to the details. Speaking of service, Aaron in the lounge was simply terrific server and host during my visit to their restaurant and lounge. He was detail oriented and knowledgeable of the wines, cocktails and menu offerings that they offer and he was also very attentive. As shared, each of the four top us size items I ordered were all very good. From the stuffed Riano's each of the four top us size items I ordered were all very good. From the stuffed Relleno with it's own unique base of sauces to the crisp freshness their special Alma salad with a unique chili vinaigrette. The flavors really stood out. I would also have to share that the pan seared sea scallops with the delicious pulled pork really combined very nicely. As well as the delicious deviled eggs chorizo. Their menu is very appealing with so many great choices I most certainly will return on my next trip to Corvallis.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate a recent accomplishment (last 4 years of my life)! So happy we came here for drinks and food. It was definitely something new, but so delicious also. We'll be back!

Amy K.

Yelp
We are new to Corvallis and wanted a romantic dinner for our anniversary. Made reservations for a Saturday night. We got a quiet table at the top of the restaurant. Server and host acknowledged our anniversary and offered us complimentary sparkling wine to toast. We had the roasted beets to start which were very good even though I'm not a big beet fan. We both had the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. To end, we had the earl grey crème brûlée which was delicious. This will be our go to date night spot from now on.

Faiz S.

Yelp
Attended a business meeting here. Tried the Ensalada Del Alma, Prawns in Crema and Flourless Chocolate Torte. Dinner was very enjoyable.

Yelp
We made reservations for a Friday night, and we were pretty glad we did. When we entered we found ourselves in the "dulche" portion of the restaurant which serves drinks, the same entrees from the restaurant, and appetizers as well. The actual restaurant is straight through the second set of doors and a little off to the left. Our server was Scott, who really made our night special. We ordered an IPA and the Luminescence Sour. Wait time for drink was about 8ish minutes, and I liked the fruitiness of the cocktail. There wasn't anything crazy special about it, but it was good. We ordered 3 small plates and 1 dessert. We had a pork torta dish, Albóndigas, Beef Tenderloin Pinchos cooked medium and the bread pudding for dessert. To begin, they bring out a basket of bread that Scott told us changes depending on what the "guys in the back think up". The bread was delicious! Soft and full of flavor. We were surprised it wasn't just the typical bread you get to fill you up before a small meal. The torta was crunchy and the pork was very savory. The presentation was really appetizing and it was easy to cut up and share. The Albondigas had the interesting addition of the pine nuts which I truly enjoyed. The actual meatballs themselves were pretty basic and not much to talk about. Now the Beef Tenderloin Pinchos... just get it, you won't regret it. The plate comes out with 2 skewers sitting atop a bed of spinach, and they appear really small to the point where you might think "I just paid this much money for this small portion". But get it anyway and eat it anyway because it's delicious! It's cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and the sauce is fantastic! The spinach was a bit on the salty side, however the beef is the purpose of this dish and it was excellent. I can't quite remember much about the bread pudding, but I do remember is was not like your typical bread pudding. It was topped with ice cream and I do believe it was Baileys coffee ice cream but could be mistaken. I recall it being a good closing to our meal. We were full and content by the end of this meal! So I would definitely recommend 3 tapas plates and 1 dessert for 2 people. Our bill came out to be about $50ish for 2 people, including drinks. So definitely not as pricey as we thought it was going to be, which was something keeping us from trying it out in the first place. Try it and love it!

George H.

Yelp
Well prepared meal. Exceptionally delicioIs. Not cheap, but worth it. Likely Corvallis' best and nicest restaurant.

Dee F.

Yelp
Always incredible food and the manager is always so kind. The waitress Susie is awesome!!

Yelp
I cannot recommend Del Alma enough! The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. The food and drinks are perfectly prepared. And no matter how many times I eat here I always leave satisfied and beyond impressed by the service. This is definitely the best restaurant experience you can have in Corvallis. The food and drinks are a bit more on the expensive side as this is a more upscale restaurant. However, if you aren't that hungry you can order a couple tapas. In terms of my own recommendations on food, if you are looking to spend a little bit more I would order the filet mignon - medium rare. If you are looking to order two tapas I would recommend the beef tenderloin pinchos - medium rare and the mushroom quesadilla. Anytime I've gone within the past two years this restaurant has made slight menu changes but the pinchos and quesadilla appear to be favorites that are menu staples so you can always expect to see them on the menu. If you live in Corvallis or are visiting and looking for some great food consider making a reservation at Del Alma!

Yelp
We had the loveliest dinner ever at Del Alma tonight! In town for Mom's weekend and my son and I have come here a couple of times. Francesca was our server and she was one of the best ever!! Thoughtful and knowledgeable about the menu. Never stopped smiling. We had the scallops to share as an appetizer and it was amazing. Burton had the enchiladas and I had the halibut. Both were really good. But shut up about the dessert! It was custard topped with a cinnamon sugar crispy disk with lavender flavored sweetness. Take a look! Reservations recommend. Eating there is too!
