Google
This is the most incredible breakfast spot I could have found on my trip to Tucson. I stumbled upon it by accident as my regular spot was closed and I was not left disappointed as I went back every single day. Andy was such a lovely guy (owners husband) and the rest of the team were fantastic. The portion sizes were very good, incredible flavour and a wide variety with care and attention to their menu.

got here at noon on a Sunday. waited outside for an amigo, and eventually he got here. that they had glasses of water set out on the table already, which is a little strange. ended up getting the chicken tamale and the beef tamale, which were absolutely exquisite. they messed up my order though because I was supposed to get it with rice and beans. service was very slow, I think we got forgotten out there on the patio where it was very cold. no chips to wait the time or nothing. they also don't have a liquor license or beer license which is a major bummer. Worth it if you really love tamales, or if you are looking for a vegan menu, big kudos to them for even having that. service was abysmal, and I write that up to just a miscommunication, as well as getting the order wrong. tamales saved the place though

I had really high hopes based off previous reviews and we've had their concha's (which are amazing) at Yelp events. So I was super excited to try the restaurant. My husband ordered the vegan grilled cheese and tomato soup I ordered the breakfast burrito bowl and the waitress asked how I wanted my eggs which I said over medium. A few moments later says they can only do scrambled eggs since it's in a bowl which I feel like it would be the other way around? Scrambled for burritos and not for bowls but it was fine. My husband was given a vegan tortilla soup... and the waitress said they are having "a whole thing" in the back and the tortilla chips were in place of the sandwich... she said she could take it back which we did send it back and just asked for a different menu item. So while I finished my food we waited for the other item to be brought out. Overall service was poor it took 30 min to bring out the wrong order and we waited longer to get something else. My experience seems vastly different than others who have reviewed so maybe I'll try again another day.

Came from outta town for business and was really looking forward to this spot after work. My friend made his order of beef/chicken tamales, and after I made my separate order for 1 Green Chile corn and 1 Red Chile spinach. When we got to the hotel room, I was looking for my box but couldn't tell which was mine. Tried calling none of the number on Google or Their website seem to work. I had to drive back to clarify with them, and the older man in charge at the time said they mixed mine with the others. When I asked him how I was supposed to tell them apart his response was you have to open them all and see inside. It makes no sense my separate order was mixed in. He didn't seem to care about the mistake the restaurant made and wasn't offering to remake it or offer me a refund since the food had already been eaten by my coworkers because it was put in their plates. Very disorganized, and customer service could have been much more understanding.

Google
Excellent, love their vegan menu with a variety of delectible yummalicious food. I missed chilaquiles the most, and it arrived. Yum. The chips were homemade, as was my green sauce with just the right amount of tingle. The refried beans are in the perfect texture and amount. The shredded lettuce salad is a good accompaniment to the meal. Well plated on a beautiful large dish. I also had the Tres Leches cake. It was well presented. The layered cake was a nice finish, well chilled. The topping was some kind of icing sugar swirled on top. There was a custard type filling, and the cake had some sauce at the base, perhaps condensed milk. I could see this shared with a good hot beverage to complement the flavors. I had most of it to go. Isaiah was welcoming, friendly, and he knew to give me time to figure out my order and eat my meal. The restaurant is well designed with modern textures, patterns, and warm wood type table finishes leading to a comfortable at home vibe. It's open with a few niche seating. This family restaurant came highly recommended by a local. It didn't disappoint. Oh, and I absolutely enjoyed the low-key Spanish music 🎶 with someone occasionally singing along. Made me feel at home. Parking was easy. There's outside seating if desired. Enjoy

Every single day this week I tried something new on the Vegan taco/burro menu, I wanted to try ALL the tacos. I am blown away, seriously. The creativity and flavors exploding from each of these carefully crafted items was incredible. Everything is from scratch and all the vegan taco fillers are delicious. I live so close to this place I just might be going there every day for awhile. The prices are very fair and the staff are very friendly (even though I am a difficult customer sometimes 😬) Thanks for making incredibly delicious and thoughtful food.

Google
This is a WoW find. Quality ingredients. Thoughtful chef considerations. The best breakfast I've had in years. I had the mole chilaquiles and it was amazing 😍 The side salad was delicious too. Coffee is drip and excellent 👌

Google
Overall a good experience. The restaurant was completely overpowered by a very strong cologne smell which really impacted the atmosphere for my kids and myself. The smell never faded which leads me to believe it's an employee. It is way too strong in general but especially for a restaurant. I should be smelling food! The food was all good and I really loved the ceramics everything was served on. The guac while really good, definitely isn't made with fresh citrus and they were out of quite a few things on the menu at lunch time. Overall a good experience, I'd go back and not be upset to do so. We had the chilaquiles (very tasty!), guac and chips, green corn chicken tamal, and two kids meals. All very good.

Yelp
My family and I have been eating Del Cielo breakfast options at the Rillito farmers market for a couple years! I was excited to see them open a brick and mortar restaurant! The restaurant is in the old prep and pastry building and they have transformed it beautifully! We hosted our bookclub meeting there and they did a wonderful job accommodating our group of about 25! The food is just as delicious- they have many gluten free options, and vegan options as well!

Yelp
Food is healthy and delicious! Always friendly service! We are vegan and Del Cielo meets all of our dietary needs.

Yelp
Always love my experiences here overall. Service, space, food.. It's always great. Thank you to this amazing local place for consistent great experiences

Yelp
What a fantastic little hidden spot! Located in the old Prep and Pastry location Del Cielo's atmosphere is warm, inviting and charming! Sprinkled with southwest flare and murals there is so much to see in this cozy little restaurant. What I loved most is walking in and smelling the delicious aroma of homemade tamales. My friend and I both ordered the green corn tamale and it was cooked to perfection! Tender, rich, flavorful! However, the albondigas soup was some of the best I've had here in Tucson. I highly recommend this local family owned spot! Especially, since the service was also great! They catered to our table and provided everything we needed. Love this little spot.

Betsy L.

Yelp
I've been a major fan of Del Cielo for a while thanks to being a regular at their stall at the farmer's market, but I finally made it to the actual restaurant as well! My go-to at the market is a carne asada burrito, which I highly recommend. It's got excellent seasoning and is bursting with fillings (but I've never had one of their tortillas split open on me -- good structural integrity!). At the restaurant, we got chips and guacamole, the quesabirria tacos, and a chicken burrito. All were as delicious as I hoped! The tacos were stuffed with birria, richly seasoned, and well cooked. They're among the best I've had in town! The service was also very friendly! We felt very welcomed and appreciated how happy and funny our server was. Also, for vegetarians and vegans, Del Cielo has a HUGE variety of plant-based options! I am looking forward to bringing my vegetarian friends here and seeing how excited they are for the array of choices.

Yelp
After hours and hours researching places to eat in Tucson during our visit, we took a chance and asked Google to list Mexican restaurants near me. This breakfast was the best meal of our trip. Fresh, healthy, and deliciously different than generic Mexican. When we walked in the owner told us we were going to enjoy our food. We sure did. More than the places went to with high expectations.

Mandy T.

Yelp
I stopped by today and ordered lunch as take out. The restaurant is really cute inside with some comfy cushioned benches. Everyone was super friendly as well. I ordered the Bistec Ranchero and thought it was just ok. Didn't love the flavors. They have great ratings so I would come back and try a different dish next time.

Marita B.

Yelp
Amazing first visit to this outstanding family restaurant! Please don't hesitate to check it out! Delicious food, wonderful service and really comfortable dining experience.

Yelp
Called around 2:30 pm 3/31/24. Google said they closed at 4pm but the woman said they were already closed. She agreed to take my order and i apologized profusely about the late order. I went to pick it up and the restaurant had nice decor and was spacious with beautiful artwork. I ordered one beef, one green corn tamale, and two birria tacos for $19. Disappointing to say the least. The birria was overcooked and underseasoned. The meat was tough. I had to add a lot of salt which is strange bc birria usually has lots of flavor. The tamales were also mediocre. The beef was salty and the green corn tamale had a soapy after taste with very little corn and the peppers inside were mushy. Both tamales were VERY small and flat (pictured). $19 for underwhelming food? Never again. I was really looking forward to it bc I was craving tamales and local church didn't sell them this week but boy did I learn my lesson. Staff was nice, but the food just wasn't worth the money.

Yelp
By far, the best vegan breakfast in Tucson! I always order the Del Cielo Vegan Breakfast and both my tastebuds and I leave feeling happy and satisfied. The pancakes are fluffy and cooked to perfection, the vegan "eggs" are yummy, the potatoes are crispy, the corn tortillas are warm, and I sub a decadently delicious vegan machaca for the asada. The service in this family-owned establishment is always friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the prices are right.

Cudi T.

Yelp
Second time in this amazing spot! All vegan items. The Enchiladas were filled with their house made carne asada and cheeze. Covered in their house made green sauce and cheese served with the beans, rice, lettuce and fixings. The other dish was an hibiscus machaca omelet, vegetable tamale, beans, flour tortillas (house made) which are to die for melting in your mouth with every bite. The owner makes his own hot sauce and gave us some roasted Serrano tomatillo hot sauce, which was so flavorful and added to the already amazing culinary experience. We bought some 16 inch tortillas from them as well that was a 10 pack.

Jemma B.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Well-balanced vegan and non vegan options and such genuine & sweet service. I'll have to come back and bring my family. Thank you guys!

Michelle R.

Yelp
The staff is very friendly and they did a good job with our large group. I ordered the vegan horchata and one corn tamale. The vegan horchata was excellent- loved it! The corn tamale was not cooked at all. The consistency was like pudding and it tasted horrible. I asked the waiter if all their tamales were served like this and he said it was that consistency just because it was fresh. There's a difference between fresh and raw. It was raw. Inedible. Others at my table received fully cooked tamales. They still charged me for the tamale despite the fact that it was inedible. And they didn't even offer to bring me another one that I could eat. I will definitely not be going back to this place.

Mark A.

Yelp
The food is so good!!!!! The service is excellent and the owners are great. I love their tamales!!!! Everything that I have gotten here is spectacular! Their jamica is really good and a lot better than mine I make at home. The location is literally 4 minutes from my house, but sometimes I forget it's there. The patio and dining room are clean and spacious. It's a winner!!!!

Yelp
In a town famous for Mexican food, Del Cielo is in a league of its own. They excel in everything that makes a restaurant great. Upon entering, you will be instantly embraced by an ambiance that feels like a Mexican home. Then you will be greeted by incredible staff, most of whom are relatives of the founder and chef. Finally, the food. Oh my gosh the food is unbelievable. I've had the pleasure of eating here for lunch/dinner, but this was the first time I went for breakfast and was equally amazed. I got Andy's Enchiladas and the dish was vibrant with so much depth of flavor. The Chilaquiles and breakfast burrito were thoroughly enjoyed too. We finished off the meal with a green corn tamale. These may take a bit of time since they are handmade fresh by the batch, but they are the best I've ever had and are well worth the wait. I cannot say enough about Del Cielo!

Kim L.

Yelp
I love this family owned place! The whole family runs the restaurant, they are from Culiacan, Mexico. We walked in for breakfast on Sunday morning, and they were mopping and and singing to Mexican music. It put us right in the mood for some Mexican breakfast! The whole family is so nice! They chat up all of their customers and make everyone feel extremely welcome! We had the chilaquiles, and the huevos rancheros, both were excellent, and came a great salsa! The beans were creamy and flavorful. We were hoping to take some tamales home, but they weren't ready. He said next call a day ahead and they'll be ready to go! They also sell them at the Farmers Market down the road, and those would be steamed and ready to go in 2 hours! The inside is very cute and welcoming as well. I love the decor and the big counter they have in the front!

Robin R.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast! Tons of vegetarian and vegan options as well as meat. Cozy and welcoming interior, and friendly service. The eggs with enchiladas were the perfect filling breakfast after a long run.

Caitlin S.

Yelp
We visited Del Cielo for lunch last week after my visiting mother requested tamales. Even though it was days after Christmas, we got lucky and they still had a few green corn available. I've tried and enjoyed Del Cielo's tamales in the past and my mom very much enjoyed them during this visit. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup, which was so yummy and beautifully presented, and my parents also tried the quesabirria and grilled chicken tacos, which were great. While I've been lucky enough to sample Del Cielo's food during a few Yelp events, this was my first time dining in the restaurant and it was an overall great experience. Our server was friendly, the space bright and beautiful and the food delicious. I love that they have so many vegan options, but also plenty of non-vegan offerings. I'll definitely be back.

Lori A.

Yelp
Phenomenal food and atmosphere! The staff was super friendly too. Their vegan menu is awesome and 2 pages long. We had the Vegan Breakfast sampler and the Vegan Chilaquiles. Very generous portions and all so delicious!

Eva B.

Yelp
Such a great location and the food was outstanding! We had the traditional Del Cielo breakfast with pancakes and I ordered a green corn tamale. They also make their own corn for the corn tortillas. Delicious! Our other plate was the chile rellenos and the asada vegan taco. Our server was great, checking in us and asking if we needed anything else. From the moment we walked in we were greeted, very friendly and great ambiance. Will definitely one back to try different menu items.

Alexiz A.

Yelp
Bookclub meetup and the food was delish! Loved the dish and vibes. We had a hugeeee group and the staff went above and beyond to take care of all of us. Thank you!

Patrick M.

Yelp
Bought 6 green chili green corn tamales. Only a couple tamales had masa and green chili, the rest had nothing else . Very bland, should not be in business

Mary T.

Yelp
This was the best breakfast we've had in Tucson! We came to visit our daughter for Family Weekend at the university and stumbled upon this place when looking for a good spot for breakfast. We'll be back every time we visit!

John D.

Yelp
I went to Del Cielo Tamales on a Friday night expecting it to be popular. From the start as soon as I walked in it was so dead I thought it was closed. There was no music and the place was near empty, the atmosphere which was initially the selling point wasn't impressive whatsoever. I was handed a confusing amount of menus which only got more confusing when I read them. The menus are all over the place, lacking any structure and just about every entree was the exact same price at 17 dollars. There was also things like pancakes on the same menu as the dinner entrees. The food was average (salsa was mediocre, the water served was warm) and the service was just as average. Overall, with Tucsons reputation for amazing Mexican food and Mexican restaurants, this place serves to hurt that good reputation. If you were looking to go to Del Cielo Tamales for dinner, I can whole heartedly recommend just about everything else.

Emma L.

Yelp
Del Cielo is a fantastic Mexican restaurant with many vegan options. The service is always friendly and attentive. Their vegan breakfast buffet on Thursday mornings is one of the best food deals in Tucson.

Isabella J.

Yelp
Del Cielo seems to be flying under the radar and they should really be in everyone's radar! This is a a lot that serves homemade Mexican cuisine. It's fresh, good quality and authentic. I love that the menu has something for everyone- traditional, vegan and vegetarian. Herminia, the founder and chef of Del Cielo, started out selling her fresh tamales at the farmers markets and eventually opened her restaurant in 2021. They make all their aguas Fresca from scratch. The pineapple is so good! The Jamaica is not overly sweet. You can go wrong with any of the dishes. The chilaquiles with geeen sauce are delicious. The gorditas were the star of the table and would be ordered again. My baby ate an entire blueberry pancake to herself. Everything is just cooked well and has the right amount of seasoning. They also have a weekly vegan buffet filled with of yummy options. Simple, fresh and authentic Mexican food. What more can I say? Go try Del Cielo!

Reed B.

Yelp
Love the vegan menu at Del Cielo. It is really hard to decide what to order here because there are so many options. If you're having trouble, I recommend double fisting a Sonoran hot dog and quesabirria taco. The vegan hot dog they use has amazing flavor and texture and the taco dipped in birria broth is amazing. Save room for a vegan concha or tres leches cake for desert.

Lila T.

Yelp
people working are very nice food came out very fast! seating outdoors and indoors. cute decor and casual. We ordered 2 shrimp tacos, 1 chicken taco, one chicken tamale, and red chicken enchiladas! The best was the chicken taco and the beans and rice on the enchiladas plate. i wish i ordered just the taco plate with beans and rice. The tamale was good but needed some more flavor still very tasty though with the salsa! The enchiladas were good but too cheesy for my liking although my grandma ordered them. I ended up munching on them because she doesn't eat a lot but likes to try a lot of things. Might just be my preference if you love lotsss of cheese these enchiladas are for you! The flavor was there everything tasted very fresh and I felt good after the meal! My grandma enjoyed trying everything and the horchata she got!

B K.

Yelp
The best Mexican food we have had in Tucson!!! Great vegan options as well as Gluten Free options, most of the menu including most of the vegan dishes can be made GF. (The only items can't be GF are the standard flour tortillas, pancakes, and hotdog bun, I didn't ask about the hot dog itself) The nachos are amazing! I consider myself a nacho except as I love them and get them everywhere we go. The chips were crispy the vegan asada had great flavor. Definitely will be back!!!

Audrey M.

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim trying to find a new spot to try. The young man at the front greeted us and was also our server. He was so friendly and polite! Cute and simple interior and the location is great. The food was really good. I got the birria omelette and it came with beans. The salsa was also delicious. The omelette was full of Birria and that was nice. Didn't skimp. Overall, very happy and would enjoy another visit to try something else.

Jillian W.

Yelp
Del Cielo is alright. The highlight is all of the vegan options they have on their menu. It's one of only a few restaurants that offer such an extensive menu dedicated to plant based options. They even have a vegan buffet Thursday mornings if you happen to be off work. Their food is decent, but not anything I would consider crave worthy. I have gotten the vegan pancake breakfast a few times. The pancakes are really tasty, but very small. Dissapointing since it is listed as a pancake plate. I would rather have bigger pancakes and fewer sides. The sides are okay - very simple and a little bland. I was also given tortillas one time but not the other. Later I was told tortillas must be requested. I have also tried the chilaquiles, but they fell flat. They tasted like store bought chips with salsa drizzled on top. I will say this is a fantastic space. It's been home to several restauraunts over the years, and I've always liked how cozy and inviting it is on the inside. Overall, I really really wanted to love this place but found it to be just okay. Perhaps the tamales, burritos, and tacos are where it's at and we happened to order their weaker items. I may be back, but in the future, I will likely choose the other vegan Mexican brunch/lunch places over Del Cielo.

Mitchell P.

Yelp
Tamales are outstanding - green corn prepped in house by hand, great heat on the red chile. Lots of flexibile outdoor seating. Going to have to come back to try the birria!

Kristina T.

Yelp
We came here on a Thurs. mid afternoon while it wasn't busy. Our host which also was our waiter told us to find a seat so we did. Being that the place was near empty he wasn't very attentive. He kept going in the back to chit chat with other staff instead of waiting on us. We were very hungry and wanted chips and salsa in which they did not provide complimentary. Most restaurants offer this for free before you order your meal so this was kinda of a bummer. They do have chips and guacamole on the menu but at an additional purchase in which we ended up ordering. The guac was good but I was also craving salsa. We both ordered tacos. I had the beef tacos dorados and my companion had the chicken tacos. Both types of tacos were bland. My tacos dorados also had a lot of cold wet lettuce in them which made them unappetizing as well. My partner did like the beans though. All and all I wouldn't go back here because there are too many better Mexican restaurants nearby with better service and less expensive I might add.

Miriam S.

Yelp
I went here on a Sunday for brunch with some friends. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The waiters are wonderful but the food was missing salt! In ordered the gorditas that came with a side of beans, I ate most of it since the meat was bland but once I added salt became more edible. Presentation was outstanding and you could tell that everything was freshly made. The salsa and the chips were really good.

Juan B.

Yelp
We have been here several times due to great vegan selection. I have tried most vegan dishes and they do not disappoint . Staff are friendly and ambience is great. I am still surprised they do not get crowded during brunch hours.

Val T.

Yelp
Friendly and fast service Great food & beverages Vegan pancake is fantastic Vegan chorizo, eggs, and potatoes also good. Nice atmosphere too

Mara V.

Yelp
Had a tamal plate, which came with a red beef and green chicken tamal. The tamales were soft and flavorful. The customer service was great- they were extremely attentive and friendly.

Hunter B.

Yelp
The food is delicious and I love their vegan options. The owners are so nice and passionate about what they're doing. They have a good mix of traditional and vegan options with no up charge.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
I'm in love. There are so many vegan options to choose from, it's so exciting. The breakfast burrito is so good. I added potatoes and cheese and that was a great choice. Will be back to try all the things.

Ruby S.

Yelp
Love the food!!! Vegan and healthy options. The best are the corn tamales my dad is picky with tamales and said these tamales reminded of his home in Sonora, MEX when his mom would make them by hand. Only complain is I like my plate and food to be hot hot hot (temperature). Ask them to warm it up and they will!

Dalia N.

Yelp
I was so excited to dig into these Del Cielo Tamales gorditas. They are soft after a satisfying crunch. Husband had the jackfruit molé with corn tortilla. The molé was on the sweeter side. The rice and refried beans were good. Glad I got a chance to sample his beans before they were gone. The seasoning in both entrees was mild. I'm glad they came with salsa because I need extra oomph for mine. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, on the phone and in person. The location was quaint and comfortable. I gave 4 stars initially, but as I thought about the overall experience and taste, I upped it to 5. My taste buds can handle a stronger profile than the average consumer and it's not the restaurant's business. Their mild flavor profile will keep all of us coming back and their spicier salsa will keep me satisfied.

T F.

Yelp
This is probably the first time I ever had a place break my heart. As a primarily vegan/vegetarian place I really hoped for a great experience. At a minimum they won't refill the water and my friend had to ask repeatedly for his coffee to arrive. The amount of customers was relatively low for a Sunday morning. My friend ordered birria but got beef rather than goat meat. I order vegan carne asada but got a scoop of what seemed to mainly be seasoned beans. Beautiful interior but inattentive staff made it a disappointing and underwhelming experience. Gordon Ramsay, come turn this restaurant around!

Sibylle R.

Yelp
Amazingly tasty and healthy food options! The ambiance is very inviting. The service was excellent when we had breakfast at Del Cielo today. We'll definitely come back!

Donna Y.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food. The best part of all the tasty dishes is that so many of the menu choices are vegan. This is something hard to find and even harder to find with Mexican food. It's hard to choose which dish was my favorite. The tamales were some of the best that I have ever had. The machaca was differently spiced but so flavorful. Homemade tortillas-needs no explanation. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants to experience an absolute flavor explosion of perfection in every way!

Renée G.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite taco spots! They have a huge menu, and they have so many vegan options that sometimes I forget they're not a vegan restaurant! They do breakfast all day, but the plant based Quesabirria and ceviche is what I get every time! They have a lovely patio for those who prefer outdoor dining, complete with ceiling fans. The staff are so friendly and attentive! I just can't get over how cute this place is.

Dimitri V.

Yelp
I think this place is fantastic. More and more restaurants with plentiful vegetarian options are popping up in Tucson, and Del Cielo is one where the menu is half vegetarian/vegan which means every one in the party is going to be happy! We have tried it twice for lunch, and the tacos were incredible. Between the two of us, we ordered four different vegan tacos and the flavors were amazing. The way they combined lentils, jackfruit, hibiscus in different ways, each uniquely seasoned was amazing. I don't think you have to be vegan to enjoy them, but if you are, this is a great place to enjoy tasty, healthy food that's sustainable.

Chelsy K.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! It's my second time here and this time I had the all you can eat Vegan brunch! The food is fresh I loved their chorizo and papas! Honestly reminded me of home and you couldn't tell it was vegan. The owner is passionate about the vegan food they offer and I'm all for it! Don't forget to get their Mexican hot chocolate all I can say is wow!!! Definitely a go to spot as I settle into Tucson!

Elaine W.

Yelp
Vegan food in a clean and cheerful place. The food...oh my gosh, so good. The corn tortillas for my vegan machaca and birria tacos were so fresh and tender and the fillings were so tasty, wonderful flavors, complex and satisfying. The jamaica was not overly sweet like other places in town. Really looking forward to coming back as often as possible.
