"Madrid partly owes its booming cocktail culture to Del Diego, an iconic bar with an art deco style and top-notch service located right next to Gran Vía and near the Chueca neighborhood. Its owner Fernando del Diego passed away in 2016, but his legacy and teachings live on through his two sons, who always accompanied him at the bar. Together, they continue to welcome locals, tourists, celebrities, and restaurateurs with a menu of classic cocktails that never disappoints. Best for: Bar hopping here and to Angelita next door." - Paula Móvil

"It's clear from the moment you walk in that Del Diego is a Madrid institution—one that would make a primo Wolf of Wall Street shooting location with its louche, New York-circa-1990 swagger. Every evening, suit-and-tie regulars (and culture-seeking tourists) congregate at the glossy wooden bar to sip Martinis and white Russians with reckless abandon. Bring your boss here and let the company pick up the tab, or settle in late-night for a dram of whiskey and an impromptu barside chat." - Benjamin Kemper
tourist friendly!! me and my friend stumbled across this cocktail bar and we were so happy that we did. the service was incredible and all servers went above and beyond to make us comfortable and smile. the drinks were absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced. each drink also came with bar snacks which was an added bonus (crisps and nuts). the interior was beautifully decorated and had an old fashioned but classy feel to it. i would recommend the pink lady, sweet but lovely!! thank you for making our final night in Madrid special :)

This place is class. Just tucked away behind Gran Via, the decor is great, you feel like you're back in the 60s.
An amazing selection of cocktails at great prices, roughly 12 Euros a pop, and they're not shy with the alcohol. Friendly, helpful staff, would definitely return again.

Who would imagined that we'll have our best cocktails in Madrid in a location that looks like an entry hall of an 80's library???
An extremely fun place, cocktails are so fine and mixed great. Service is on point, and the vibe is of an underground establishment.
Very well lit (so don't bring your ugly date there) but also kind of loud (hand gestures are welcomed)

The entrance looks a bit weird at first, but when you come in you feel the place.
The service man helped us find a cocktail to his taste, I like sweet and my husband likes strong. The service was amazing, and the guy making the drinks looked so profession.

An excellent bar boasting an extensive array of cocktail options. The service was top-notch, and the drinks were not only delicious but expertly crafted. Although it was surprisingly quiet when we arrived around midnight, the atmosphere livened up as we were leaving. While the ambiance could have been slightly improved, the overall experience at this bar was great — a perfect spot for a delightful drink with exceptional service.

They don’t offer food, but you can order snacks. Drinks come with chips, and they only have indoor seating, which feels quite isolated from the outside. This might not be ideal for those who enjoy a more social atmosphere with their neighbors while having a drink. We ordered a Gimlet and a Moscow Mule—both were strong. The staff was friendly and professional.

Nice big cocktail card to choose from. I had the Dama blanca and Gimlet and they both were very good.
I personally am not a big fan of the interior decoration because I feel it looks a bit old fashioned. But design is always a matter of preference so someone else it might really like the decoration.

The place where you can experience great cocktails and super chill atmosphere. The entire staff is super nice, the bartenders are great and super cool. The place you must visit if in Madrid. Do it after 10.30 pm as the crowed gets going.

Yelp
Great spot off of Gran Via. You really escape the madness of the street just one street back.
It is an old fashioned bar that was recommended to us by a local. We loved it. The two sons of the original owner are there working behind the bar. Making delicious cocktails. They wear ties. Such a classy place. It's quiet and the perfect spot for a cocktail- most of which are €10.

Yelp
Once one of the top cocktail bars in Madrid, now Del Diego is a tired bar that is largely empty. Nothing special, at all. Go for a scotch on the rocks or a gintonica, but no vibe or anything special.

Yelp
Great service and even better drinks. If you are coming to Madrid this is the place for drinks

Yelp
Elegant cocktail bar at the back of Gran Vía. Incredibly well designed, and old school service. Very reliable bartenders. Only weak point is the price. Seems a bit overpriced to me, but the quality of the service might justify it.

Yelp
This place made excellent cocktails (something that was actually difficult to find in the whole of Spain.) They are all about their Gin and Tonics out there, but not cocktails.
We encountered friendly service here. Folks in the City of Madrid, unlike the rest of the country, just weren't very engaging or interested in talking. But these bartenders were great--what you generally expect.
Tried several different gins that we can't get here in Chicago. All the drinks we had were great--expertly & beautifully prepared. Chatted with a young woman from Leeds, England and enjoyed the vibe there.

Yelp
Quality drinks and cocktails here. Name a drink they'll make it with precision. I opt for the Martínez.

Yelp
Good cocktails - shelves are filled with whatever liquor your soon to be drunken heart desires. The bartender takes his craft very seriously and was fully suited! He was an older gentleman, extremely polite and friendly.
It also costs 9 - 12 Euros for each cocktail. I got used to drinking wine and beers that cost me, at most, 4 Euros. When you have access to this at most tapas places that are a stones throw away, an expensive cocktail bar becomes less than exciting.

Yelp
Nice place but some of the worst cocktails I've ever had for being a "cocktail" bar. Ordered a sazerac to start that tasted only of absinthe, then ordered an old fashioned, a true test of a cocktail bar, and it just tasted like club soda and whiskey. If you want a true cocktail bar go somewhere else. Not trying to bruise their name but they need to step up their game.

Yelp
Good spot to grab some cocktails, but the mint julep is a no-no. Go for a Manhattan or Martini instead. It gets busy and lively.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went here on a Friday night. The bartenders made it one of our best nights in Madrid. They take their cocktails very seriously and it shows. Every single drink we got was great. They also liked my Real Madrid shirt and we had a conversation about that as well (Even though my Spanish stinks). Thank you guys for a great night! ¡Hala Madrid!
