Overall, it was very mediocre food (steak was terrible), very slow service (for both food and drinks) and our waiter was just not trained well.
Here's a handful of things that stood out from that epic night:
1. Drinks took forever to arrive. Their excuse was that they only had one bartender working. Well, it's Memorial day weekend when the city is opening up to full capacity after covid ... wouldn't you think you need to have additional staff?
2. Our dinner took over 3 hours, apps came pretty quickly after we ordered, but steak took forever. Apps were ok, good shrimp, totally over-seasoned calamari, mediocre meatballs. One steak was all salt, another had no seasoning at all ... both were so so old! Tasted like they've been frozen since pre-covid. We had them done medium rare and had trouble cutting them! The table shook ... but also because their steak knives were so dull (some silverware was also dirty). There was a large plastic toothpick under one of the steaks.
3. While ordering, we asked our waiter was does "double eagle" mean ... he said (and I quote) "It's a namesake, kind of like McDonalds" ... facepalm for your manager buddy. Left us wondering if the food is going to be "like McDonalds" also.
4. We were a large group and ordered 2 bottles of the same wine for dinner. The following happened after - they brought out one of the bottles, opened it in front of us, my husband tasted it and they said they will take it back to the bar to pour it into a decanter (why not do this at the table?). Then, they brought a decanter full of wine, said it came from the second bottle, had my husband taste it and left it on the table. Not really sure what we ended up drinking there ...
5. While taking our order, the waiter took a used empty glass from the table and as he moved to the next couple to take their order, realized he can't hold the glass and write at the same time, put that empty glass next to that couple, took their order, got destructed with something and walked away from the table ... leaving that couple sitting next to someone else's dirty glass.
