On Saturday evening, 11/29/25, around 8 p.m., we walked in, and they immediately seated us in the back near the kitchen and back or side door. They made sure we had a Black host and waitress. We ordered a crab cake and a steak salad. The appetizer, which had just come out of the kitchen, was lukewarm at best. The bacon had been sitting for so long that the fat had started to congeal. The couple after us received their food beforewe did. 2 salads and a crab cake. Our food was cold. We intentionally waited until after our food came out to tell the manager. I told the manager that my date and I had spent 20 years in the Marines and Navy and had seen a lot of things, but never service like this. Then the manager, Chris, told me he didn't care about our service and would treat a homeless person the same. So now I was being compared to a homeless person. I've served this country. The food was not good, and the level of racism we felt made every bite taste that much worse. I don't want him fired, but education is definitely in order. For future reference, Black people do find it offensive where you seat us in a restaurant. Where we are seated does matter. We do not like being put by the kitchen or back door. After my date told the hostess we didn't want to sit there, she had an attitude about it. We were calm and polite the entire time. When we sat down, my date at this point began to cry. The manager offered to remove a few items from the ticket, but we would rather just pay and go. He offered a free dessert. I should have taken a picture of the dessert. It was one piece, and I could tell it was the end piece of a cheesecake. It was so small it was laughable and a little insulting in the end. So we left the dessert on the table. We asked them to box up our food, and we would eat it in the room.
