Google
Del Ray Pizza is great! I lived in Alexandria 10 years ago and loved them. I got a chance to go back recently and they are still the best in the area and absolutely worth a visit. I love the pizza rolls and appreciate their frequently rotating taps.

Google
Pizza was standard American, not worth the calories in my opinion. The ricotta and focaccia bread - yuck. The bread is dry and flavorless (I’ve lived in Italy for years so don’t come at me about what you think focaccia bread is supposed to be - it’s not this) the ricotta cheese is sweetened and tastes only of lemon. Gross. This should be put on a misfit dessert menu, not an appetizer menu. Service was friendly and the place was full and people had a good vibe.

Google
Great service and the food is tasty but overall disappointing. I’m gluten free for real, not for fun and it’s great this pizzeria has options for me including beer. Unfortunately the crust was not baked fully until crisp and by the last few pieces the Margherti was turning more than soggy in the center. The Hill pizza has a pesto sauce so it held up better. I’d give this place a try again because the all the pizza looked and smelled great. I did politely recommend to waiter that blind baking before topping and then baking with topping which allows the frozen gluten free crust to thaw out and crisp up without burning the toppings. Gluten free bread is always better toasted.

My friends and I went here for dinner the other night. The Halloween decorations were awesome! The vibes of the place were very fun and the food was AMAZING! All of my friends loved their pizza and the pizza rolls I got were to die for. Also…to all ranch lovers, their ranch is delicious. The only reason I can’t give this place a 5 is the service. We don’t mind ordering through our phones but we had to flag down the waitress to get soft drinks that we ordered through the app that didn’t arrive & honestly her and the bartender just weren’t very friendly. The guy who delivered our food (the chef?) was lovely and honestly did more for us than the waitress. I get everyone has bad days, but it did dampen our first experience. I will be going back for take out for sure though!

Google
i actually thought the pizza was made with fresh ingredients, and it tasted great. also great selection of draft beers. will definitely go back. staff were super nice and helpful.

Google
Went 3 times already and we liked all pizzas we ordered each time. The very last time I left my glasses on table by accident after dinner, and the server went out almost a block to give them back to me. Really appreciate that.

Google
Great local place for unique pizzas and craft beers. They have a fun trivia night that is well attended. Right in the eclectic Del Ray area joe, whether you were stopping there in the evening or in the afternoon after walking around the farmers market and grabbing some treats, it's a great place to go.

Google
I can’t rate the food because we didn’t get any after being there for over 40 mins. We came the night before Thanksgiving and ordered two pizzas and two soft drinks. After getting water and ordering we didn’t get an update until we were delivered one of the soft drinks (and it wasn’t what we ordered) and were told that our order was lost. This was after being at the table for 40-45 mins. The bartender had been informed they lost our order at least 5 mins prior because we heard him talking about it with other customers. The worst service I’ve had in years. Things happen but not telling your guests that their order was inexcusable.

Yelp
Great tasting food in a happy inviting atmosphere! Friendly people, and friendly staff make this a great neighborhood staple! Lots of beers to choose from, if you're into new and exciting beers they have a good rotation!

Bret A.

Yelp
-The most "okayiest" food I've ever had -Busy night so service was the same, maybe it would be better with less of a crowd.

Yelp
Del Ray Pizzeria is one of my favorite nostalgia spots. This little locally-owned restaurant has stood the test of time and continues to be a great place to gather over great food, beer, and conversation. The Barack My World pan pizza is a must order. It's thick, buttery crust is to die for and I stan anything that celebrates the Obama era presidency. Paired with their extra cajun wings and local beers you've got a winning Sunday afternoon. Now that I have kids, I'm more conscious of their kid menu which includes all of the classics from pita pizzas to chicken tenders and mac and cheese. Sides are tater tots or fries which truly made my littles' day. Restaurant is affordable, service is friendly + it's proximity to the Dairy Godmother makes this a place I'd go to again and again.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Decided to stop by because St Elmo's was too packed. It was 3 adults and 2 kids and they were really accommodating. The food was ok, nothing to brag about but I enjoyed it and the price was reasonable.

Hunter B.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday night and were able to grab parking on the street. It was busy but we were able to get a table quickly and the service was fast. We got a specialty Bulldog. The crust was a thicker one but the dough tasted great. The cheese was very stringy and the sauce was alright. Not a bad pizza. If you want to grab a sit down pizza in the area I would go here.

Charles O.

Yelp
This place used to be amazing. Now it is tired, dirty and run down looking. If it wasn't for the other good stuff in Del Ray keeping it afloat along side take out I am not sure it would survive. Don't get me wrong it still has great food. The waitstaff is 50/50 on if they know the menu or food options in the building. Most recent visit heard the waitstaff talking about how the original owner had bailed on the place and left it to die essentially. This place needs love, attention and investment and it could be amazing again. I will continue to go here.

Laura H.

Yelp
TLDR: terrible service, good French fries. Came on a Saturday evening (5ish) sat inside. Service was horrible. They obviously forgot our order as others had arrived after us, eaten and left before our food came out. When we finally flagged down our sever to ask about the delay for the 2nd time he said he would "check on it". I didn't care for his attitude. It's not rocket science- it's just pizza, if you can't do that well- that's on you. After waiting, our food came out all at once, underdone and boiling hot ( obviously forgotten). We were ignored when we asked for the bill and eventually paid and left. Overall impression is terrible service and worse food. If you can't run a kitchen, or if your kitchen forgets or if you make a mistake -then say that. Coping an attitude is akin to throwing a fit, which is what you get when you leave kids in charge.

Yelp
Good food at a good price. Beer selection is pretty good. Favorite place to get a beer in Del Ray.

Emily P.

Yelp
We have been customers for 7-8 years now. Our past few visits have been disappointing as the food is just really underwhelming. The change in ownership changed the menu; just be a bar; stop serving food beyond pizza.

Theresa M.

Yelp
Great little pizza joint with a bar and tvs, too! It took awhile to get service after being seated, but once we did our server was awesome. Very apologetic, friendly and helpful. The pizza was delicious. My son and I shared the Spicy Chicken (Large), and it was very flavorful. The truffle tots and the old bay tots were tasty, as well. My sister, niece, and I also enjoyed the firecracker Brussels sprouts - yummy! My niece had the fresh cut fries, and we both agreed that, although they were tasty, they should have come out hotter. The Caesar chicken wrap was a hit for my son's girlfriend, as well. The atmosphere is very casual with sports offered on the tvs. Check them out!

Bob S.

Yelp
Not a "local" sports bar atmosphere as advertised. Was hoping to try pizza but unable to get seat.

Ellie D.

Yelp
This is the only place I've ever seen a gluten free pie be the SAME PRICE as regular pizza dough. Amazing. I've eaten here once before and remember really enjoying my pie, though for the life of me I can't remember what I got, as well as the very creative names for all the dishes. Reading the menu in and off itself is an experience. What we got: sweet thang on gluten free crust - 5* I'm not a gluten free pizza connoisseur so I can't speak to its comparative rating. It was edible, it was not super dry, it did not make me want to gag, and I would recommend it to my friends who cannot eat gluten. I would leave it up to them though to give the final verdict on how the crust holds up. As for the pie itself, I would order it again in a heartbeat. It was delicious! The blackberries were a fantastic and complemented the pizza very well. If I had to be critical my one comment would be that maybe there was a bit too much ricotta cheese, but ricotta has never been my favourite so I think that's my bias talking. Keep the ricotta in, it's a great source of protein! I really loved the hot honey. smokin' hot chick on cauliflower crust - not sure how I feel about the cauliflower crust. I know I have had better, but it also was not off-putting. I could see myself getting it again. As for the pie itself, oh boy does it pack a punch. They use fresh jalapenos that are not cooked, so those seeds deliver a kicker. Overall a great pie, as it was my partner's I'm only judging it off of the one slice, so this review isn't as thorough as the one above.

Jim W.

Yelp
Their food is pretty good. Their service is mediocre at best. We ate outside on a warmer February evening, and asked that the outdoor heaters be turned on. We were NOT the only ones to ask...but we were the only ones to have to ask at least 3 times. "The Manager" told the server (a young 18 year old) that it was too warm for the heaters, and left it to the young 18 year old to break the news to us...and the other tables. Our food was able to cool just enough to cause us to leave half way through our dinner...NOT THAT IT WAS TOO COOL OUTSIDE! We might get takeout from here in the future, but there are plenty of other pizza places in Del Ray, so who knows. We'll see.

Zeni B.

Yelp
great place! The food is very good, I got a salad and absolutely loved it, the chicken was a great addition. I believe the service was good but has room for improvement, with that being said I will definitely be coming back.

Patrick M.

Yelp
I get having a bad day in the service industry, I do, but our server had the foulest attitude I've ever experienced. Would never recommend subjecting anyone I care about to visit a place with people who actually hate that you are dining with them.

Beth W.

Yelp
The best Caesar salad in all of Del Ray. They make their salad dressings from scratch. Absolutely brilliant. The pizza's are so good too. And the vibe is awesome. Super friendly and a neighborhood voice be that is open to everyone.

Tony G.

Yelp
I stopped at this restaurant after checking out the Del Ray flea market for the very first time. Since it was close by and I love pizza, I stopped in. When I walked in, there was no one at the door so I just stood there for awhile. I wasn't sure if I needed to seat myself or wait. I saw one employee by the door arranging tables. After standing there for awhile, I just went to sit at the bar. The bar was pretty full. About five to ten minutes later, the bartender came to greet me and ask for my drink order. I ended up ordering a pizza and some appetizers. The plus about the menu is that the pizza options are unique if you are a person who likes to try different unique pizza ingredient combos. The pizza was just okay to me ($15 for a small), but another option could have been better. The wings were good. The restaurant and bathroom were clean. Overall, the place lacked "warmth" so I would not try it again. But it seems to be a cool place for regular customers.

Berit M.

Yelp
I just tried this place and can safely say I'm their newest fan. Not sure what's so special about this BYO cheese pizza, but it's gotta be a meld of cheeses or something because it has an extra satisfying flavor and it's always cooked perfectly!!! Also, I'm not always a crust eater but I will eat it at DRP. Just tried the PAN pizza tonight which looks equally as appetizing. I haven't been to the actual restaurant yet but it's always busy and has a cute little outdoor seating area. I will be back!!

Jackie P.

Yelp
I had a horrible time at DRP last week. Horrible. First of all it's dirty as hell. We sat by the window with hand smears and dead fly or two on the window. We were among only three tables dining at 3pm on a Saturday but the servers were absent or running around as if it was a packed house. By time our pizza came it was cold. Not warm at all. It was actually floppy and cold and undercooked. Pale flavorless dough with zero burnt bubbles. The mozarella was firm. I ate half of 1 slice and thought maybe if I take it home I can heat it nicely. NOPE! Still nasty with zero flavor. The crust taste like cardboard. I can 100% say there are about 3 or 4 frozen pizzas that are way better than DRP. The one star is for the onion petals which were tasty with the spicy sauce.

Megan M.

Yelp
Their belle haven location is better in my opinion. More options here as far as pizzas go but the ambiance is not as nice. The red rooster wings here though are incredible.

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Ordered carry out to bring to The Company of Books. Good yummy pizza. Somewhat pricey and I couldn't do math and didn't realize the size I got, but it's good yummy pizza. Good for game night!

Some G.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, friendly service, but the crust is like cardboard and the toppings, even the ones that are supposed to be spicy, are bland, Bland, BLAND!

EM M.

Yelp
Laid-back atmosphere, friendly service, and a good selection of food/drinks. I enjoyed their brussels sprouts and veggie pizza. The pizza had a good amount of toppings and cheese.

Vicki K.

Yelp
Got take out from there a couple weeks ago. The pizza had really fresh toppings and the flavor was pretty awesome. I got the large midnight marauder (could've been larger though). Also the staff was nice when I went to pick up my order.

Lindy S.

Yelp
Go with a pan of Midnight Marauder. You won't be sorry! Seriously love this place! Great food, excellent service!!

K G.

Yelp
Pizza and salad were excellent. Service was decent, busy Saturday night. Ambiance is true hole in the wall, everything is pretty dirty, you don't want to look too closely at anything or use the bathroom. Probably will do take out from now on.

Anh N.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed the food here at Del Ray Pizzeria. Drinks and beer selection are pretty good too. I ordered the tropic thunder pizza and wanted to try their 12 in pan crust. Texture of the dough was great. You'll like the pan crust if you like bread! Very thick crust but I loved it. I would order it again. Dr. pepper bourbon sauce was not bad. Wings weren't as juicy as I'd like but still good.

John B.

Yelp
Weird that DRP has so many critics. They have a creative kitchen, so many draft choices, innovative mixed drinks, and amazing pizza. Do yourself a favor. Come here.

L S.

Yelp
Ok Del Ray Pizzeria. Crossed the bridge this time for a pizza, especially since it's not to far from me. Waited for traffic to give a little. Arrived on a chilly work evening and folks were sitting outside smoking, chatting, and evening. Now I do like to see an abundance of culture but didn't see it upon entering the pad. However, greeted by the lean gentleman. Given a menu because I requested carry out. Almost visited the bar but didn't spot any cognacs. The bar was packed as well. Ordered a Barack, Veggie, both large, 10" pepperoni, 2 orders of fries..... one truffle w/ parm and old bay. Fries are like Five guys. Seasoning was stingy. But I came for pizza so who cares. Pizza was on point. Also I got the hand tossed crust, sort of reminded of the hand toss taste from Pizza Hut, not to offend. However you could see the artistic roll in the dough crust. Also the sauce is good and sweet. Now when I got home I did put the fries back in the air fryer and added some more old bay which landed on my pizza making it better. Fries I can skip..... and I love fries but will stop back by for the pie, if I feel like driving to Alex.

Andrea G.

Yelp
We arrived on trivia night on a Monday, but we were warned when we walked in. It was actually not super noisy, and i kind of enjoyed listening to the questions and guessing on my own. We had the supreme pizza, 14" is more than enough for 2 people. This pizza was hands down delish. I love when i take my pizza off the tray and the cheese is stringy! It's a definite sign of lots of cheese. Also let me mention that the crust was the perfect crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. We also ordered a side of wings that were really covered in sauce. Like, a lot. I personally like that, but if you don't maybe say light sauce? I was really impressed with the customer service however. Everyone was so nice and attentive. It's a fun little dive bar kinda place.

Laura M.

Yelp
I came here with high expectations which was a bit of a mistake. I thought that this was more of a high end pizza place but it's not, it's very casual and has a sports bar feel. There were also several flies around our table. We started with an app - the onion petals - our waitress confirmed it was just like the blooming onion from Outback but with the onion pieces separated from each other. We found this to be untrue, just look at the photo. They weren't crispy at all but the sauce was good. Next time I'd try the pizza rolls instead. Our pizza was really good! Thicker/doughy crust. Not something I would necessarily crave but if you plan on watching a game or need a quick low key dining experience then Del Ray Pizza works.

Bcg M.

Yelp
We're locals to Del Ray and I have to say DRP is the most inconsistent restaurant. One time we'll order and the food looks and tastes great. Another time the pizza barely has any toppings. These are $20+ a pizza. I lived in NYC for years and this is not acceptable. Added a photo which may look like a good pizza but it was barely topped and mostly crust.

Trisha H.

Yelp
Great lunch on a Monday! My Mom and I came in for lunch, ordered a small pizza and small wings (8 wings). The nc que (bbq) flavor was very good. Crispy wings with lots of meat. We got the "Barack my world" pizza with pepperoni and sausage. Very good pizza. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Clean bathroom. Great little spot. Will be back soon!

Gretchen F.

Yelp
Great pizza -- they have a convenient takeout order window, and outdoor seating (that closes down at 9 along with the rest of Del Ray.) We got a large pizza that was half Butcher's Block (essentially a meat lover's), and half Jenny's Veg (we couldn't NOT order this, since we were with my sister visiting from out of town, and she is a vegetarian AND her name is Jenny hahahaha.) Toppings were flavorful, sauce was bright, and their crust is doughy and chewy but not in like an underdone way. It was very addictive, and I heartily enjoyed our pie. 5 stars for sure! Next time we'll be sure to go earlier so we can enjoy the tented seating too!

Robert L.

Yelp
I just got takeout but the pizza was good. Looks like a very busy neighborhood place with a lot of beer that I unfortunately couldn't have because I was driving. Will try to come back and eat there.

Janie K.

Yelp
We popped in, not really expecting much, and loved the pizza, atmosphere, friendly staff and the hilarious names of the different pizzas. Can't wait to go back and try the calzones. Thanks for a great experience & our new favorite local pizzeria

Marc S.

Yelp
Best selection of beers around. Always rotating craft beers. LOVE the tater tots (as well as the pizza) Their breakfast burritos rock and they are big. Staff is very friendly. It feels like a comfortable hometown restaurant/bar. There are quite a few "regulars " that are very welcoming. Overall a great atmosphere.

Troy M.

Yelp
We ordered a supreme pizza, tater tots, wings, and brussel sprouts, all were terrible. The pizza sauce was sour and acidic, the tots were overly garlicky/parmy, and the wings were super dry, tasteless, and overly salty. Will not do again.

Elle D.

Yelp
Love this place. Food is always fresh and delicious, staff always friendly. They have remained consistently good throughout the pandemic (we got a lot of takeout) and we're so happy to be going in person again.

Jess L.

Yelp
My friends and I snagged a booth on a Thursday before the dinner rush. Del Ray's offerings are pretty straightforward: you gotta come for the pizza and beer (though I was impressed by the extent of their other menu items, as well). I like my crust a little more cooked, but the ode to the pure toppings did the trick. Most of the pizzas are very meat-y, but I went for the On the Bright Side and loved the garlic and basil. My friend got the Some Like It Hot, and it truly was hot. Great rotating beer menu, including lots of local craft beers. Playful, chill ambiance where you definitely feel like hanging for a while.

Dana Z.

Yelp
True story: over hear a dad say to his son "you wanna go to DRP?" Me: (huh?) *googles DRP* Me: OMG PIZZA I WANNA GO OK, I didn't say that to the dad. I just excitedly looked at my screen and decided what pizza I wanted to get from their yummy list. I ended up doing the tropic thunder because it had all of my favorite things in one: pepperoni, sausage, jalepeno, pineapple (don't hate, pineapple haters) I thought it was so good. I even ate the crust... and I don't normally waste my calories on the crust. I am inspired to go back and try some other pies. They also have an awesome beer list so it's the perfect marriage of pizza & beer.

Gina S.

Yelp
The pizza is good but the wings are fire. I've ordered from DRP a few times and have yet to be disappointed with the quality of the food. I did have an instance in the past where things did not go smoothly, however the manager was more than happy resolve my issue. I will continue to support this small business as I make my way through their yummy menu options.

Kristen S.

Yelp
My husband and I usually decide to go places based on their beer selection and bartenders. The beer selection here is OK. We can usually find something we like, eventually. Carly, the bartender on Sunday mornings, is great. She is so much fun and puts up with my tasting of the new beers. The food here is OK too, but would not be coming here on a weekly basis if it wasn't for the service and humor of Carly.

Laura W.

Yelp
Del Ray Pizzeria is cute popular, especially with families, so if you plan on eating here, I'd recommend either earlier or later-or you can order takeout! We arrived around 6:30pm on a Saturday and had about a 15-20 minute wait. They never texted us when it was ready, but we went back at the 20 minute mark and they sat us right away. Parking can be tricky in Del Ray and they have a few spots (8 or so I think) available behind their building-you just need to see them for a "permit" when you go inside. Outside dining fills up quickly and they are accommodating of highchairs and strollers out there. We sat inside with a high chair. Of course, we ordered pizza from a pizzeria. We were told we could do a 1/2 and 1/2 of the signature creations.....if they had the same base sauce. With this in mind, we chose 1/2 of a smokin' hot chick (chipotle marinara, shredded mozz, smoked gouda, chicken, red onions, jalapenos and 1/2 midnight marauder (chipotle marinara, smoked mozzarella, 'nduja, spicy salami, spicy oregano, crushed reds). The midnight was the favorite half of the two. The marinara was spicy but had added spice from the spicy salami and crushed red pepper. The 'nduja is a smoked spicy pork that was delicious too. The smoking' hot chick was lacking even distribution of ingredients and was scant on chicken and jalapeños. I loved this crust too! It was soft and chewy and flavorful-tasted a bit like sourdough crust. A large was 8 slices and perfect between the two of us for $19 (plus tax). If you save room Dairy Godmother is next door for dessert! Our service was really awesome too and attentive without being obnoxious. The beer list seems great and I'd love to return to pair a cold one with a new type of pizza soon!

Rob P.

Yelp
I always love overly complicated reviews of pizza. I mean, it's pizza. I ordered over the phone and was told it would be done in 15 minutes. I got there in 15 minutes and it was hot and waiting for me. Nice thin foldable yet slightly crispy bottom crust, with a nice bubbly chewy edge crust. The marinara sauce is nice, a little sweet tomato flavor, perfect amount of fresh motz, and plenty of basil. IMHO - keep it simple. Don't get too cute with your pizzas or you're asking to be disappointed. This was really good. Paired well with my Cuba Libré

Andrew M.

Yelp
Super good pizza. Went on a slow Monday evening - they had BOGO! This is the kinda za that you crave on your cheat days. 10/10

Courtney Z.

Yelp
Dylan is a wonderful server and human! It was so incredibly busy when we came in, yet they remained attentive to us and their co-workers by constantly checking-in to ensure that they were confident in their performance. A top-notch person and a too-notch mom and pop place!

Megan C.

Yelp
Context: We ordered half Margherita, half al Capone. 14" cost $18. Sat outside. Pros: Sitting outside was great and service was great! Cons: The pizza Margherita: too bad they used shredded mozzarella. Texture of cheese was rubbery. There's too few ingredients on a pizza like that to use cheap ingredients in my opinion. Traditional sauce and basil were yummy. Al Capone: Ricotta was flavorless. Should've been seasoned. Ingredients sounded yummy (Italian meats, sausage, ricotta) but it was underwhelming. It sadly just tasted bland. The crust was okay for me, light and fluffy. I prefer a slightly chewier crust though. I think I'm a pizza snob...so we probably won't go back

Dani P.

Yelp
This has always looked like a Del Ray staple that I've driven past but never considered. One day we decided why not? It looks and feels like a neighborhood spot. It's incredibly kid-friendly. The kid's menu doubles as a coloring page, and they gave my daughter crayons to entertain herself. Despite their name, they have a lot of non-pizza offerings too. I ordered pasta while my daughter and husband had pizza. I thought the ravioli was delicious, albeit a little pricey for what seems like a low key establishment. Bonus for me: Bold Rock on tap :)
