The 25 Best Restaurants & Bars In Palm Springs

"You forgot to book a table tonight and now you’re not eating dinner until 9:15pm. For a pre-dinner snack, head to Del Rey, a moody tapas bar inside a quiet boutique hotel on the south side of town called Villa Royale. It can get a little crowded, so get here by 5:30pm for a seat at the bar. But even when the place is full, it still feels like a hideaway. Sip on gin and tonics, split a tinned fish board, and bask in the glow of a fireplace—not a bad way to start a night out in PS." - brant cox

Del Rey - Review - Palm Springs - Palm Springs - The Infatuation

"You completely forgot to book a table tonight and now you’re not eating dinner until 9:15pm. Go to Del Rey for a little pre-dinner snack. The moody, dimly lit tapas bar is tucked deep inside the Villa Royale, a quiet, chic boutique hotel on the south side of town. It can get a little crowded (we recommend getting here by 5:30pm for a seat at the bar), but even when full, the place still feels like a hideaway of sorts. Sip on gin and tonics, split small plates like gazpacho and gambas al ajillo, and sit next to one of the most photogenic fireplaces in town—in our books, it’s a perfect way to start the night." - Brant Cox

Years ago we dined here at "Del Rey" & loved the vibe & at that time thought the food was good but fast forward - now the food is excellent! Apparently they got a new chef about three years ago. Carefully curated, Spanish tapas style offerings, attentive waiters, speak easy vibe topped off with a pitcher of Sangria! What more could you ask for?! Be open to being adventurous! While I enjoyed the Sangria, my husband said it was the best Old Fashioned he's ever tasted. The place is dark so be prepared to take off your sunglasses. That's part of the charm. It feels very old school rat pack. The restaurant is located within the darling boutique hotel "Villa Royale" Ask for the waiter Enrique as he really cares about your dining experience & it's hard to find that these days. Strongly suggest reservations as it's a small place intimate place. Thank me later. ☺️Enjoy!

Flickering firelight, sultry shadows, and a patio where everyone looks like a noir film extra. It’s Palm Springs, fully in character. The tinned tuna belly in yuzu kosho is delicately brined, dressed with capers, pickles, onions, and lemon. An interplay of flavors that’s deeply satisfying. But then things waver. The patatas bravas fumble—potatoes too plain, sauce too tempered, seasoning too hesitant. The short rib empanadas arrive dressed to impress, but the beef is somewhat tough and chewy. Grilled artichokes fare better—generous, charred, and brightened by aioli and lemon. Desserts echo the inconsistency. The churros a la mode, while warm, are more sponge than crunch. The spanish cheesecake, envisioning a rich interior and caramelized crust, presents more like an airy soufflé. The false alarm cocktail hits the right note—smoky slow-burn. It jolts you back into the romance of the moment. Del Rey nails the scene. Now, if the kitchen could match the mood, it wouldn’t just feel good—it would be great.

Google
On a rainy evening, Del Rey’s moody glow and intimate bar seating set the perfect scene. The cocktails were balanced and indulgent, but the highlight was the Spicy Tuna Paté—rich, briny, and perfectly complemented by grilled sourdough, tangy onions, and bright lemon. Each bite was layered perfection, simple yet elevated. Paired with the cozy ambiance and fire in the fireplace, it was a meal that felt both timeless and unforgettable.

Been to many restaurants around the states and this one is the best food and drinks I have ever had. The service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere is perfect for a group or just two. Better than I expected. Service manager Cesar came to our table and greeted us. He was so friendly. Never have had service this exquisite.

The best service I have had in California in half a decade! Our server was charming, attentive, sincere and fun. The food and cocktails are delightfully delicious and a feast for the eyes. The atmosphere is the best treat, an all encompassing immersion in true taste and personality!

Google
We tried this place out as part of our ongoing culinary exploration of Palm Springs. It's an interesting little place tucked away in a residential area. The atmosphere may be best described as bohemian, a mix of traditional and contemporary. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, which we appreciated; the hostess, however, seemed clueless, sitting us right below a stereo speaker in a dark corner when there were plenty of other tables available. As for the food, what we had was excellent but the menu is very limited.

Google
Amazing date night spot with delicious sharable tapas and strong drinks in a sexy and cute dark environment. A little more on the pricer side but worth it! The vaca skewers were honestly the best beef we’ve ever eaten. Tender, juicy and generous. We felt like we ate a small steak each!

Google
What a swanky, moody dining experience! We were recommended this place on our ride from the airport. Loved the small plates, didn’t get every picture, we were ready to dive in! Enrique was a great service provider, made great recommendations. The steak and chicken skewers were great! Loved the broccolini, Bodingas & had to get the bread pudding for dessert! Little slow to get us started with service but was worth the wait!

Yelp
One of the nicest boutique hotels I've been to, with a free parking and a rooftop perfect for watching sunsets. I can't say enough great things about this hotel. As a Black woman who often experiences varying levels of hospitality based on my race, this place treated me like a valued customer and provided top-tier service. I'm used to this level of service in my hometown in the DC area, but California sometimes falls short. Not this place. The amenities were amazing. The on-site restaurant, Del Ray, was sexy. The pool was deep. The grounds were clean. The morning breakfast was amazing. I can't compliment this place more. Oh! Please stay in spacious room 6. Soft bedding, big screen TVs, leather coach and art deco decoration. Simply amazing.

Yelp
Like truly WONDERFUL. They have it down and everything is thought through! We arrived an hour early and did pre-checkin. We were greeted with a drink and sat on the rooftop until 4 which it was check in. Our only hiccup was checking in. They did not have the room ready at 4 so we had to wait another 20 minutes with a few times asking to see why it was late. When we got to our room, it was a dream! Complete with a little private patio. We were so pleased to check out the 3 pools. Each have their own vibe. Music was playing through the whole property. Misters. Cabanas. Sunscreen & bug spray. Water stations. Bikes! Breakfast was amazing! An elevated continental. Fresh bagels, fresh juice, fruit, butters & jams, granola. Mimosa station! And more. I love that there is a restaurant there, room service & a bar so you don't need to leave. It was the coziest of the cozy. I don't think I can stay anywhere else.

Yelp
Wonderful grounds and architecture with retro style and great pools. Our queen room at the Villa Rosa was petite but fine for 1 night. The bathroom window needs attention as the latch was broken and it wouldn't close. Room could've been cleaner. We did have a nice little table with 2 chairs just outside our room. The pool(s) were very nice. Breakfast is very good with great coffee as well as mimosa offerings. Service was very professional and personable. Good vibe here

Yelp
Did a weekend stay with a friend at Villa Royale for the first time. Got in two hours early but was able to check in with no problem. I'm a yelper and a person of color so I was hesitant when I read a few comments regarding the hotel racially profiling. Well I will say the front desk was a pleasure at 2pm. They give you a welcome drink on arrival and ask if you have any questions after going over a few details. I also walked down one of the pathway with my bags while someone from the cleaning team was coming towards me and they adjusted their cart to give me room to walk through. Our room was small. Looking at the site map it looked like it was one of the smaller rooms. Next time I know to request a bit more space since I'm a little claustrophobic. The room was very clean. cute decor. Wish the plants were real but that's a lot of upkeep. I don't think I was in one of their better rooms from the pictures I've seen. My room was right in front of one of the smaller pools. Literally if I fell walking out the door it would be into the pool. Being this close I could hear everyone's conversations from the pool into the room as well as the pool cleaner in the AM. There are 3 pools on site which is great. The bigger pool outside of their restaurant is the most lively and where you'll want to lay if you want to get waited on. The servers were very attentive throughout the weekend. Del Rey their on-site restaurant was good for dinner and pool side treats! Their text service system was convenient. I never used it to order food but requesting a made and checking out was simple. I would check this hotel out again and recommend it.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here this past weekend. If you are into the old school Palm Springs Classic Hollywood Getaway vibe, this is it. The staff are friendly and attentive. When you arrive, you are offered a welcome cocktail. The room was comfortable and the TV has an Apple Play so you can connect your phone to stream your shows on their TV. They have lunch and dinner room service too. The menu is not in the room but they will text it to you once you arrive. You can also ask for one to keep in your room. You can easily place your order through their text messaging system. The main pool is chilled and the pools are cleaned daily. The onsite restaurant, Del Rey, does the room service and the food is great! We had lunch (poolside nd in the room) and dinner and the food was delicious. The sandwiches come with potato chips that were made fresh that day. The Del Rey restaurant opens its doors for dine-in dinner and I recommend you get a reservation. We got there early but as the evening progressed, it got busy. The menu items here also do not disappoint. It has a speakeasy vibe so when you walk in you entered a curtain area and a hostess will come over and greet you in. They offer a continental breakfast every morning (it is included in your stay). I think coffee was available at 6:30 AM (which was great because we are early risers) and they put out pastries, a yogurt bar, and hard-boiled eggs, juice, and mimosas at 8:00 AM. If you get up earlier than 6:30 AM (or are an espresso drinker), there is a Nespresso machine in the room. They provide the pods, cups, sugar, and little creamers. Tea is also in the room as well as at the continental breakfast. If you are starving at 6:00 AM, there is a nearby diner that serves breakfast early and it's within walking distance. In the evening, they have cookies for the guests to snack on. The Villa Rosa side offers a quieter stay. It is across a quiet street from their main site and they still have room service out there. Overall it was a great stay!

Yelp
My best friend and I booked a room here and had a wonderful experience. Staff is friendly and the rooms are very clean. Absolutely adored the pool area with a stunning view. The breakfast is lovely and there were complimentary cookies at night which was an added plus. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
The only hotel I stay at in Palm Springs. Everything about Villa Royale is absolutely perfect - the staff are so kind, so welcoming, so helpful and proactive and greet you genuinely and check you in easily and offer you a welcome drink. The ambiance of the hotel is stunning, the vibe they have curated is really next to none. It's sleek and modern but not stuffy and looks just really cool. My favorite thing to do is hang out by the pool, where you can order lunch and snacks and drinks and enjoy the beautiful scenery! The music and misters also are a great touch. The rooms are so unique and beautiful designed and decorated. I've stayed in 4 or 5 different rooms now and each one I enjoyed. My favorite is the two bedroom villas because it's perfect to share with another couple while having the privacy and space you desire. I love this hotel so much, we stay here every August for our anniversary because it's that special. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I recently had my wedding at Villa Royal, and it's hard to express how wonderful it was. The entire staff is kind, easygoing, and a lot of fun. Chris and Bar Alex, in particular, made our experience incredible. Chris was so easy to work with, accommodating, and overall a great vibe to have around you during the bid day. All of our guests had a wonderful experience at the hotel as well. From the food to the decor, Villa Royal will absolutely make your wedding weekend stand out.

Yelp
BEYOND. BEYOND. BEYOND. This stay was beyond all expectations! Thought I had stayed at every "highlight" spot in the desert sometime in the past 15 years, having come out to Palm Springs and/or Joshua Tree, Pioneertown for countless trips. THIS GEM of a place is special. Stayed at Korakia, Sparrows Lodge, The Parker, The Ace, Saguaro, and a host of others in Palm Springs over many visits, and this is a special place in my heart! Beyond the aesthetic beauty of the property, there is a charm and intimacy to the layout despite it having 37 sets of rooms, it feels like half that due to the foliage and design. The staff has been incredibly warm and genuine, including Dajae who made concierge humanity seem like a real thing! She saved us from a casual quick dinner at King's Highway/The Ace (which we knew well and can be a nice drop in hang) and recommended the restaurant on site here, DEL REY. Goodness! Did not think that a property this adorable would have a restaurant that is even more meticulous in his awesomeness! We ended up extending our 2-night stay to a 3rd night due to our insanely surpassed expectations! Chris at Del Rey was our server on our 2nd dine-in experience, and was also so warm and human. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! :) Favorite @ Del Rey: Gambas, Short Rib Empanada (wow!), and Croquettas de Pollo if you can handle rich and creamy, fried (it's a small portion, live a little!). We dined inside one evening; every table was full from what seemed like people driving across town to dine here. Our second night we sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance. Breakfast is served in the Lanai (adorable outdoor covered seating area) each morning, and even the coffee, granola and croissants had my friend raving. The artful decor and history of the property are lovely. Note: read the Compendium, I couldn't sleep at 2am and found it charming with history, having been around in its original incarnation since 1947, as well as good recommendations for local activities. Honestly, my only hesitance in writing such a glowing review is that the place will be overrun with tourists, and won't be my favorite "little known secret", but the owner, staff, and everyone connected to the property have just made this a dream staycation. Thanks!

Yelp
What a wonderful boutique hotel. We absolutely loved our stay. The place is super cute and the customer service is outstanding. They did a continental breakfast every morning with yogurt, homemade granola, fruit, muffins, croissants, bagels, lox and the fixings. The lox were a huge hit. It was probably the best I've ever had. There are fireplaces everywhere. We always found ourselves playing backgammon in front of one with either a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in our hand. My only complaint is our room and particularly our bathroom was really dark. I'd prefer brighter bulbs at least in the bathroom. Also the shower was very slippery. We were in room 16 just off the lobby with the pool right in front of us. Noise was never an issue but of course there weren't too many ppl using the pool while we were there. Temps were in low 70s and it cooled down quickly in the afternoon. Oh and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely go back. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Explored every single hotel in the area, online. Over & over for no reason because this place has it all. Stayed during Labor Day weekend and even though it was fully booked, the hotel was quiet & wonderful. Service from Lisa at the front desk, Levi the Poolside Bartender, and our Del Rey server Chris was top notch. We drove the downtown area and most of the other popular hotels are just converted motels (think Motel 6 style layout with better pools and updated rooms). The Villa Royale though, is vintage beauty at its finest. Single level Spanish Mediterranean architectural vibes give off just enough class and glam to make it a uniquely romantic & peaceful retreat. It's also dog friendly. We reserved a Deville room which was spacious, clean, funky-chic, and sexy. The AC was pumping, the shower water pressure in the super cute bathroom was blasting (you can adjust it too), the private enclosed patio was big, and a wet bar with desk area, stereo, and fully stocked mini bar was perfect. Our room was right next to the smaller pool with lounge chairs directly out front. What a dream! You can order room & poolside service via text, including meals & cocktails. I highly recommend the Club Sandwhich & Potatoes Bravas for lunch. Del Rey restaurant is a very romantic, cozy, dimly lit on-site restaurant with a semi pricey menu of the most delicious tapas & desserts. We ate here both nights for dinner and sampled Flat Iron Steak entree, Short Rib Empanadas (omg get it!), Grilled Artichoke, Potatoes Bravas, Desserts and cocktails and literally everything was amazing. Including the service. If you've made it this far, then you should probably just book your room now. We loved everything about our stay and can't wait to return. Fun fact, pools open til midnight and it's a 5 minute drive to Palm Canyon/Downtown and also Agua Caliente Casino!

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful. My fiancè and I had some credits to use on Hotels.com so we figured we'd have a little baecation/staycation in the desert. Upon arrival, we were given a complimentary upgrade which was super nice. Our room was very cute, and the grounds were nice, quiet, and gorgeous!! I love a good boutique hotel and the ambiance here was perfection. The pool is open until midnight, so it was awesome being able to escape the heat day and night. We went to Del Rey for dinner our first night and the food was delicious and the service was attentive. I'd love to stay here again, maybe for my bachelorette! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Had the most lovely and relaxing staycation at the Villa Royale! This is a wonderfully curated hotel with luxurious amenities, and it's truly worth every penny! From the complimentary welcome beverage to the complimentary bottle of champagne for my birthday and the tote bag left in the room for takes, this hotel pulls out all the stops for a truly marvelous stay. The vibe is dark, moody and Old Hollywood with modern influence. From the moment you walk into the lobby, you are greeted with warm smiles and friendly staff ready to get you settled into your room. They also have a text concierge which is available to you 24/7 during your stay! They make it seamless to check in early and to check out. While on the grounds every turn you take you are greeted with beautiful style and elegant art. Not to mention the late night pool hangs (open until midnight!) and a late checkout of noon, you can truly enjoy everything this hotel has to offer upon arrival and until you depart. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable with every amenity you could possibly need. We look forward to future visits at the Villa Royale as it has easily become our favorite hotel in Palm Springs!

Yelp
Had a mother and daughters trip to Palm Springs for the first time and stayed at Villa Royale. The hotel grounds were beautiful. Unfortunately our stay was riddled with heavy rains. Our 2 bedroom suite did not have a working fire place which was a bummer because it would have been nice during the rain. Our room had some flooding due to the rain but they were quick to clean up and put towels down to stop it from spreading Most of the staff was friendly. We did encounter a few rude but not enough to make the stay off putting. The staff was very responsive when you had a request. I do like that you correspond via text messaging. I would give the hotel another try especially during better weather to be able to experience all of the amenities. Over all our stay was just fine. I

Yelp
I'll start with the fact that this review is looong overdue! I first visited Villa Royale in September of 2019 to celebrate my birthday on my first ever solo trip. I visited again this past May after having to postpone my trip in 2020. What I love about Villa Royale is the boutique hotel experience you get. The entire property is carefully curated from the art on the walls, the plants in the garden, and the music playing throughout the day. The attention to detail is just so spot on. The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful. They welcome you with a complimentary drink or shot (very nice touch) and even offer luggage storage - which I needed to take advantage of once before when my flight was delayed. I also love the fact that Del Rey, the restaurant, is right onsite and even offers poolside service during the day. Del Rey happens to be one of the highest rated restaurants in all of Palm Springs too so consider yourself lucky that you're staying so close by! Each room I've stayed in has been very well decorated, clean, and featured a relaxing outdoor patio. The parking available right outside the hotel is also very convenient. I believe the price per night is very reasonable considering the quality of service you're getting. They even offer free bike rentals during your stay so you can cruise around the neighborhood! They have two pools on the main property, another pool across the street at their smaller property, and one hot tub that is available for use if the large, presidential suite is not being rented out. My one complaint is that the last time I was there, the pools had a lot of tiny bugs in them including the hot tub. I thought maybe it was a fluke but over the course of the 5 days, it was a normal occurrence at each pool day or night. I absolutely love Villa Royale for SO many reasons and while there are other boutique hotels in the area I'll eventually try out, Villa Royale will always have a special place in my heart.

Yelp
beautiful !! absolutely marvelous. extremely surprising in a good way from check in to check out. there was a wonderful man at the front desk who helped us out big time. he gave us a complimentary room upgrade, and on top of that, we asked to check in early. astonishing that they worked to accommodate us and then go above and beyond. our room had a nice common area and a beautiful wet bar. the room and restroom were clean and comfortable. the patio was private and had amazing greenery. the complimentary soaps and lotions were really nice but the moisturizer did give me a rash. the service was great, texting was easy but i thought it was strange our room did not have a phone. i loved the artwork in our room and the on site restaurant was great. we came to celebrate my 21st birthday and it was truly something to remember. amazing time :-)

Yelp
Exceptional 5 star boutique hotel, in the heart of Palm Springs. The chic blend of old California, mid-century, and modern decor/architecture perfectly compliment the desert surroundings. The resort is adults only, and feels very private. It is close to the best shopping, restaurants, and bars in the area, but far enough away that you can enjoy total silence in the evening. We stayed in an Impala King, priced at $550/night with taxes and resort fee. I usually feel that resort fees are a scam, but at Villa Royale, it paid for itself in alcohol alone. At check in, we were offered shots of fine Mezcal or Tequila, and were given two cute free cocktail tokens. We redeemed them at the pool bar, and were delighted to find an inspired craft cocktail menu. The drinks were fantastic. We loved our room, which was spacious and beautifully decorated. It included a wet bar, fireplace, sitting area, glass shower, and a comfy king size bed. The common areas were equally lovely, dripping in flowers and sunshine. The main pool is just beyond the lobby, but I preferred the smaller pool outside our room, which offered a mountain view, framed in palm trees. 10/10.

Yelp
3 Stars Are Generous Villa Royale was recommend to me by another desert loving friend. We have similar tastes in that we love adult only, small, boutique hotels that have an amazing vibe. I was very excited when a Black Friday deal popped up! I took advantage of the offer and planned my spring break. Well, I rolled in by myself on my birthday and they didn't have my resie. Horrors!! But actually, my bad, I put it in my calendar on the wrong date and there I was a day early, on my birthday. But who's complaining? An extra day in PS sounded amaze!! The only drawback was that the girl at check in didn't make me feel particularly great about my mistake, and actually said, "Luckily, we have a room available tonight." I looked at her and thought so many different things...but mostly I thought I wish I was at my fave other place in PS. They would have made me felt welcomed and special. They would have even wished me HBD & probably sent a bottle of wine to my room or a small token of thanks for staying 4 nights. They even hand write thoughtful little notes. And all of that is lovely and appreciated, but honestly, I would've accepted, "Thank you for choosing to stay with us." Every boutique hotel I've ever stayed at in PS has always been warm, inviting, and welcoming. For me, first impressions are everything. I'm an easy to please person, I'm solo, I do not over talk, I'm "delightful" as my husband says, and I stay in my hula hoop. The stars are for the front desk guys, Aldo and Chris, who I mistook for the managers, because they were welcoming, kind and gracious, but were each only at the front desk one of the days. The bartenders out at the pool were rockstars, pleasant and hardworking. The cleaning crew was also kind and accommodating, but again, it's just me and I don't have my room serviced daily. I also loved the grounds, fountains, fire pits, rooftop deck and the three pools to choose from. Do not miss the pool across the street! It is fantastic with mountain views that are not to be missed. And I am a big fan of misters. If you've been to PS in the HEAT, then you know these are important! I happened to be here when they were running maintenance on them and trust me, they work great! Another thing, I read the reviews here and I'm wondering what all the stars are for? When I arrived on Sunday 3/20 I spoke to a bride who had just had her wedding, and she was disappointed that several things had not happened as planned. She said she wasn't upset, but is that the point? When someone pays for a service and it's agreed upon, shouldn't it come to fruition? I would expect so. Especially when all the money was spent. After 4 days here, I am underwhelmed. The texting of orders and services is not effective nor efficient and while it seems it would be, my order for tapas at the restaurant was missed altogether. I met another single traveler and she experienced something similar. On my last night there I did meet 3 wonderful couples who were visiting from out of state. It was there second trip to Villa Royale. They loved it and can't wait to come back. There was another couple from Chicago out by the pool one day. It was their second trip, too. I find it interesting that Villa Royale text me once was I was home and asked me to rate my stay from 1-5, 5 being the best. I rated them a 4 which was generous. Then it was crickets. I heard nothing back. Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe I've been spoiled at other places. Or maybe first impressions are important

Yelp
We just arrived home after a one night stay at the Villa Royale and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there...wish it could have been longer. Beautiful architecture, fresh flowers, lush grounds and the spacious rooms and comfy beds made our experience truly memorable. The availability of bikes was a fantastic way to explore. We had a slight hiccup at the bar area which was unfortunate but we would still return. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Excellent place for a great weekend getaway. Staff is attentive, and Steve was sure to help with an extra fan and a safe which did not open. Pool was clean and refreshing. On site restaurant, pool bar, bicycles for rent, and friendly staff. Can't say enough great things about Villa Royale!!!

Yelp
Loved our stay at the Villa Royale. The courtyard with room 32 was lovely, felt like we had our own private pool. The room was cozy and beautifully designed. Also, the rooftop and lobby, so stunning! We loved the amenities of happy hour and continental breakfast. The noon checkout gave us plenty of time. We will be back for another perfectly relaxing weekend! Thank you to the Villa Royale team, you are doing a great job!

Yelp
Enjoyed my stay at Villa Royale. The lobby is a good introduction to your stay - chic, art-deco. You are provided a hotel map and make your way to your villa to get settled in. Our villa was located on a corner by a courtyard with a fountain and it was very quiet. Villa Royale is a place to relax and enjoy the pool with a cocktail and some poolside eats. The cocktails we enjoyed came from their bar, Del Rey. Very tasty and refreshing drinks. I tried the Tomato Jam Toast and it was also good. There are small cabanas by the pool to catch shade and mist while you gaze at the mountainside. A pretty ladybug greeted me on my stay.

We had a blast at this hotel, we stayed for one night and cannot wait to come back again. The service is next level, it is so nice that is 21+ because it's so peaceful. The room was amazing, it's so close to downtown, I cannot recommend this place enough we had just the best visit. The drinks, the food, the service all 10/10.

Yelp
It was nice to hear from the GM, Mr. Conner, regarding my review, but I don't have a whole lot of respect for the "reevaluate your review and we'll offer you a free weekday stay" offer. I turned it down. His thorough (read: explainy) email boiled down to, "I'm not sure how that happened and I apologize", "It was a busy day for us," and, "There's nothing we can do about that". Again, I respect that we were contacted, but the negotiation to edit my original review made me wonder if that's how this place managed to earn 4.5 stars.

Yelp
The service at the front desk was impeccable. The hotel is very clean. The rooms were very well laid out as well as a very clean patio area. They have bike rentals no charge. The pool area was quiet. You can order drinks delivered to the pool.

Yelp
So our visit is a solid 9.5/10, we definitely will be back. The room we had was cute and pool side, they had a unique distillery bottle in the room which we loved that touch. The only reason it's not a 10 is due to an interaction we had with Candace(sp?). We simply walked up to the bar while she was taking a video of herself and asked about ordering something.... there are many ways to tell a person "no", we just felt her way about saying "no" as in bar is closed was impolite and condescending. Also as an unknowing guest, we had no idea the bar was closed. So maybe giving employees a scripted dialogue for when elements of the hotel are closed might be beneficial, so they don't wing it and come off as condescending. Otherwise fabulous stay

Yelp
Christmas Eve 2020 needed to be spent someplace special. Cue Villa Royale. Yay - a small marvelous midcentury modern hotel! I jetted in from Phoenix about 9 pm. Kiley at the front desk went out of her way to check me in: the room she originally booked me in, #32, was freezing but she turned the gas fireplace on and then tried to get the heat to work (hey I'm from Phoenix so anything under 55 degrees is f-ur-reezzzing). The heat wouldn't work. We then migrated to Room 39: no fireplace but she turned on the heat for that room. But it smelled like skunk...or weed, distinctly unpleasant. She assured me that room hadn't been opened at all. But still it reeked. Kiley then chose a third room for me, #17, but that heater wouldn't turn on either. Throughout this pilgrimage to find a room with working heat, she was so chill, not getting frustrated at all, but seeking to resolve the issue. I appreciated that especially b/c she was working on Christmas Eve! We circled back to Room 32 where all my stuff was and voila! the heat had "magically" turned on. With both a working heater and fireplace, the room was super cozy. I quickly changed into my swimsuit & headed to the heated pool - such a treat! I basked in the warmth, underneath the star-filled sky, palm trees and colorful Christmas lights dancing all over the pool area. Back to the room, I took a quick shower in the impeccably clean bathroom with my favorite things about hotels: cute mini bath products! Then it was time to settle into the comfy king size bed to watch It's A Wonderful Life (most epic Christmas movie ever made) while savoring dark chocolate covered almonds ($10) from the minibar. My room was outfitted with a tiny frig & pantry area w/ an array of high end liquor and yummy snacks for purchase + complimentary coffee/tea selection for in the am. Not all the rooms have this feature, ask for a room w/ it! I was told that breakfast (in boxes so you could just pick up) and fresh coffee would be served from 8-10 am, but unfortunately, I didn't get up in time...oh well, next time. A+++ on Covid 19 Safety protocols; 1. Signage throughout to reinforce social distancing 2. Hand sanitizer stations installed throughout property 3. Signage on interior of your hotel door to remind guests to mask up 4. UVC light box to sanitize room keys at front desk 5. Front desk staff wear gloves if they have to hand you anything 6. Finally: they've incorporated these "features" into their property so they are noticeable but fit with the decor! The gifts: * epic + quiet setting (Hollywood starlets & writers stayed here) * gas fireplace * fluffy white towels * hygiene products by Lather smell like bamboo lemongrass * cozy bed * gracious front desk staff The "need to get betters:" * Back patio door has an opening on the bottom of the door that lets the cold air in - it needs to be fixed. I improvised with a towel. * In-room coffee maker has filters that do not fit the coffee pot. Again I improvised by tearing the filter so it fit & coffee top would close * Fireplace needs to be able to be controlled by guests, imo. The front desk will come & turn it off with this mechanism at 11:30 pm latest but then they're closed for the night. I would have liked to turn it off by 2 am or so but they don't provide the mechanism for it...maybe for liability reasons? Overall, I loved my Christmas Eve night stay at Villa Royale in Palm Springs. Possibly a new tradition!

Yelp
I am flooooored by some of the negative reviews on this Yelp page. Palm Springs is full of entitled, spoiled people who expect to have their asses wiped by every service worker they encounter. Our stay at Villa Royale was a 20/10 experience. The accommodations, grounds, staff - everything were so nicely thought out and we felt very well taken care of over our 3 day stay. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which I highly recommend especially because there are misters that are turned off in the afternoon which provide a much needed cool down. When we checked in we were greeted by a friendly concierge who offered us tequila shots and helped us to Del Ray where we had a reservation. Villa Royale uses a texting service which we found both an effective and efficient way to get questions answered and get support throughout our stay. If you're wondering where to say during your Palm Springs stay - it's here!

Yelp
Last minute deal to go get some warmth. Saw this hotel on line and just liked the vibe and pictures we saw. But walked in totally unsure.... until we met the first of what was a 100% incredible staff. Start with Phillip and Lisa (who both never seem to leave) and round it out with every other staff member and server. The property is really three adult ONLY motels on the same street each with a pool. We stayed in the main one in room 2. I could have lived there! Little kitchen, patio, fireplace and bedroom. Bath amenities by Lather and a great shower. The pool is heated perfectly and has plenty of nooks to give you privacy or to be social with neighbors. But most of all... it's beautiful. Above all was the desire to help. In any way. The food and drink poolside (complimentary breakfast btw) was fantastic. Parking...? Free! And best of all when I wandered around, I found a cute hidden jacuzzi. It's a true gem located right where you want to be. Have fun!!!

Yelp
A perfectly reasonable holiday was interrupted by racial profiling. Our stay at Villa Royale was marred, but not ruined, by the front desk assuming the three Black and Brown women returning to the hotel were not guests there, rushing out of the lobby, confronting us at the pool in the center of a busy courtyard, and asking if they could "assist us". We were, of course, the only Black and Brown people at the pool, and it was very uncomfortable when all the guests turned to stare at us, further enforcing the idea that we did not belong there. I told her, "We checked in days ago." And when further questioned, I was told by Great Value Security Guard Karen as an excuse that she had been off the last few days. Now I have never been at a resort where it was the job of the employees to recognize every single guest, or otherwise question why they were at the hotel. Perhaps this is a requirement of Villa Royale, but it seems odd. I assured the front desk that if they needed to "assist" us, they should be just as helpful to all the other guests, offering "assistance" in equal measure. And since she had now seen us, to remember that we were the only Black and Brown people currently staying there, and if she needed to remember THAT, remembering the guests should be easy. As a black woman, I'm used to dealing with impromptu racism, so I returned to my holiday and enjoyed the rest of my vacation. But I would suggest that the hotel review their policies so EVERYONE can feel comfortable at the hotel they paid to relax in.

Yelp
So I was really excited to stay here at Villa Royale for a really important and special weekend in Palm Springs , my wedding! With many great boutique hotels to choose from we decided on here. My now husband and I came before hand to visit and check it out before our Jan wedding stay. The first experience was great the staff when we called to check on rooms and figure out what room style would be best was great! And that started to shift when we learned the hotel has split the property and the room we wanted initially wasnt on the main property. Seemed like the tone changed very quickly with the person we spoke to that was on staff at front desk, seemed irritated that we were asking questions ( Jasmine). To be fair I wouldnt say most of the staff was above or beyond on service . Decent , some where the exception . Just to state I worked in Hotels and service industry for over 20years. Anyway lets just say the majority of the staff was nice and for the most part helpful/food from restaurant was great, on our arrival we asked if we could switch rooms to be put on the main part of property not across the street and they were able to accomodate us, the thing that would have been nice is the little detail that the room then that they placed us was on the lanai where they main bedroom is next to where they serve breakfast , every morning would wake up and could hear the setup and people coming for to eat , walls are thin i guess ( aslo awkward waking up to strangers sitting in front of our room in the chairs in front of our window eating breakfast) if i had known that i woud have gladly kept the room across the street. Details!! Also as much I as appreciate a welcome card and bottle of prosecco again details- we were getting married that weekend not on our honeymoon and the card congratulated us on our honeymoon. So the rooms where nice and adorable , on arrival the first bedroom had a stain on the comforter and a used tissue was missed behind the nightstand which for as much as you spend a night on a stay here , i feel that shouldn't happen and we let the front desk /staff know. I usually had interaction with Jasmine, she seemed indifferent and annoyed with us almost all the time and def wouldnt say she made the stay pleasant/ they did offer for someone to come change it out and since we had the other bedroom I declined to worry about it then, slept in other bed to wake up and notice the comforter in that bedroom had a pretty big dried blood stain on it/when politely told jasmine her response was less than concerned, considering blood stain is gross and second stain on comforter / and didn't seem to think it was a problem, unapologetic (thats a health code) the house keeper was much more considerate and acted the way someone should in hospitality. I also had because of wedding some boxes, 3 being delivered and a friend dropped one off at the front and also had informed me how annoyed and inconvenienced the attitude of the girl at the front dest was and it was Jasmine again.( Our friend had no idea that we had been already experiencing that with her) It just made a stressful weekend even more stressful/bad nights sleeping /lack of great customer service-it felt very unwelcoming and we were so over it we left a night early because it felt uncomfortable and couldn't sleep well anyway. On our early check out i did ask to speak to the manager and because he wasn't there spoke to I believe the assistant manager and he said it would be address and was sorry for what had happened on our stay. We gladly left and never heard a word from the hotel or anyone on our stay or experience. No follow up. I guess customer service at a 3 star boutique hotel with 5 star prices is just very different from what expected. Just wasn't what expected or would ever bring me back, kind of sad because wouldn't want to come back to celebrate an anniversary after that. Unfortunate and I hope if ever some day the young women at the front gets married i hope she has a better warm welcome and experience somewhere than she gave us . It was so insincere and made our stay well not great or a good memory. Im not sure but i think they just made sure we weren't charged service fees for the night we left, A call or follow up would have been so appreciated. Def wont recommend nor stay there on our next visit to Palm Springs / very disappointed and Im sure they wont even respond to this or read . Left a negative feeling . Camden B.

Yelp
Overall had a good stay here. We liked our room and loved the grounds. It's very quiet, private, and has amazing art and plants all throughout. Most of the staff was also very welcoming and kind. During our stay, they were remodeling the main courtyard pool and there was overall a lot of construction happening so that was kind of a bummer. There were two other small pools to go to but they got crowded pretty fast. We also tried ordering food and drinks over text and it took pretty long to even get a confirmation back. Overall, our stay was fine but we probably wouldn't go again.

Yelp
Booked a stay for one night at VR after reading reviews online & a GREAT price on Expedia. It is what you expect, if you pay attention ( unlike myself ), to the reviews. I loved the look of the old Palm Springs motel, clean, great price & location. I did NOT catch on that it's "an intimate hotel". I had a night of working on spread sheets with couples having sex loudly in the next rooms & a repetitive, waterboarding trance bass music outside that seeped inside until 1030pm. Not a place to work prior to a big meeting. I did notice that this was my fault and the reviews were clear after the fact. Price, location and clean... So why 5 stars? This place really is a cool little gem. I'd love to come back for a sexcation. The lighting and rooms are so pretty. There's multiple pools. The breakfast was the BEST I've seen for free breakfast. Hot cookies and milk at night. A happy hour. Truly, someone put effort into every little detail. I really appreciate those efforts. For work meetings, I'll book a crappy, quiet Marriott. Thank you, again, for the details and efforts.

Yelp
Never staying anywhere else in Palm Springs, such a nice place. Love the style and great service. Came here to celebrate an anniversary and they gave us a complimentary bottle of bubbles and upgraded our room. Thank you villa royal, we will be back!

Yelp
I've never stayed in this area so I looked up a couple of hotels. This one seemed to be real special and real quit just what I was looking for. Just like all the other reviews said it a super chill boutique hotel with about 40 rooms. Im going to keep this review short because I want this place to be a secret. Anyway this is an excellent hotel for grown people. This is NOT a hotel for young people who wants to party all night and tear up the hotel room. Check out my pictures to see I had a wonderful and relaxing time. Thank you Villa Royale!!!

Yelp
Swept under the rug, the weekend trip to hell. Stayed in this hotel in late February and although this seems like a quaint hotel it is not. Family friend wedding was held here. The wedding went ok, but the room was not. When we arrived the heater was on, it was like a sauna in the room! Really? I opened the window in the small room and we also had to leave open the door to get air in the room. My dog and I have allergies and this room was bad, cramped, way too small and uncomfortable, the bed barely fits. I called the office to see if they could turn on the ac, they stopped by and I was told not to change the settings because then it would turn off and have to be reset? The ac was a small unit, too small to handle anything. Tried to get another room but the hotel was sold out because of the wedding. My dog suffered wheezing and hyperventilating for two days and I ended up twice to the emergency vet clinic for help. The emergency vets in Palm Springs are the worst vets ever! I considered trying to sleep in the car. Did not sleep nor rest for two days. Do you have asthma? Stay away. I had to leave in a haste because of allergic event of myself and service dog. In my plight to get out of the room, I left a fox fur coat, gown, a sequined jacket, scarf behind in a bag. Management 'can't find it' Manager Phillip told me to contact my insurance company. I left earlier and had to drive home instead of taking the flight because the harm on my dog was untenable, she spiraled into a complicated serious condition which was her demise. I lost her. My partner left to move to another hotel. I was done I needed to get home. Shame on you, some person on your staff is holding on and kept my valuable property. Theft! Management does not care about the guests. I tried to remedy the situation and got nothing. I just got swept under the bed like all the dust in these dirty little rooms!

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise to find a hidden classic gem. Dark exclusive bar with a reasonable boutique range of hotel prices Villa Royale Inn, located in the heart of South Palm Springs, embodies the history and ambiance of the desert. "There is no place in Palm Springs quite like Villa Royale Inn," says hotel owner David Shahriari. "Each room has its own unique flair and the property as a whole remains true to the original feel that was present in the 1940s."

Yelp
We really enjoyed unwinding for a few days at the Villa Royale. I love the vibe at Villa Royale. Rooms are spacious w/ private outdoor spaces, fully stocked, clean and super cute and thoughtful decor. 3 pools and 1 hot tub. Pools are open til midnight. They have bikes you can take out for a ride. Dog friendly a big plus. The pool bar has delicious cocktails! Will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Welcome to retro chic in the heart of Palm Springs. Upon arriving, one is greeted by a large hedge which screams exclusive - but upon walking through the front gate into a small courtyard with a flowing fountain, one is transported back in time to a hotel marked as stylish, warm and welcoming. Begin your check in with a complimentary shot of top shelf booze - nothing says it is time to relax than a free shot. Unfortunately due to COVID - it will be in a paper cup - but it is the thought that counts. Oh, and did I mention - this is a 21 and over hotel - so please - leave the kids at home. Welcome to adult relaxation. The rooms are tastefully decorated and it is the small design elements scattered throughout the property which will suck you in and make you want to kick back and relax. The location is divided up into 4 distinct areas - main pool and lounge - fountain court - smaller swimming pool court and then across the street. All are a delight and provide refuge from the hustle and bustle of life. Coming to Villa Royale is a distinct choice - you are seeking a higher end experience - you are seeking a slower pace - you are seeking top notch service - you are seeking time to just be. The staff are great - everyone was following strict COVID protocols. The rooms are clean and the beds are so comfortable. We went in November so I don't know how bad the heat is in summer - but this is definitely a place to consider when in Palm Springs.

Yelp
Front desk woman was unhelpful and a little rude tonight. You have to go through the front desk to get to the restaurant, so that's why I even had to interact with her. I will definitely not be staying at this hotel based on the customer service I experienced tonight. Dang!

Yelp
This place is the hidden GEM of Palm Springs! stars This is my 3rd stay at this hotel.. and that says it all! The staff are so attentive and so friendly! They go above and beyond to make your stay the most enjoyable. The aesthetic of the property is beautiful and charming, making you feel like you're on a small island in the middle of the desert! The pools are pristine and the lounge chairs are so cozy you're afternoon nap is simply the best. There's plenty of sitting areas, including a fireplace and fire pits to enjoy the night and stargaze. COVID protocols are top- notch here! Every staffer wears a masks and follows social distancing. They offer a breakfast box per room that's filled with delicious treats and fruits. I don't know what kind of coffee they have but it so yummy! The rooms are spotless and the pool restroom is very maintained throughout the day. I am so happy every time I arrive to this property because I know my stay is going to be everything and more! If you want a relaxing get-away then Villa Royale is your answer! I could go on and on about this place, but you should really check it out for yourself

Yelp
My wife and I checked in on Sunday for a one-night stay. Our room was awesome. It was one of the suites (I think they all are). This place has lots of personality with it's fine furnishings and art throughout. As far as COVID safety, they're doing a wonderful job here. Highly recommend this place. Food and drinks are awesome too! Try the roasted beets and patatas bravas!

Yelp
At this point, I think I average a Palm Springs hotel review about every 3 - 5 years. This time, it's the Villa Royale. My new absolute go-to in the desert. They've got everything you want - gorgeous design, thoughtful vintage touches (without veering into kitsch), way-too-easy-to-drink-cocktails, great onsite amenities, different areas to hang out in, and probably the nicest hotel staff I've met in a while. Even the GM couldn't stop asking how he could help make our stay better. And, if you're a dog owner like us, their dog-friendly rooms are great and they have the best pet amenity ever - a huge park-like lawn in the back for the dogs to run around in. Insane. Go here. Don't even bother looking elsewhere. It's the complete package for an escape you don't want to leave.

Yelp
I had a great one here. The name made it hard not to think red velvet, but it's nice green comfy quiet. Liked our jac right out the door. Priced nicely

Yelp
We had a relaxing time. Quiet, calm, private. Enjoyed the decor and 21+ environment. Rooms were large and there was easy access to the pools and parking. Came back with so many bug bites. They said that they spray for bugs, but it was not disclosed to us that it was an issue when I first checked in. We had stayed in a room where dogs had been in a week before, we were not disclosed that information either. Now it's too late, I have multiple bites. Take repellent and ask about ure room before you check-in.

Yelp
So disappointing! All hype and no substance and unfriendly staff. Its been done on a low budget and finishes are cheap. They tried to create enough photo ready spaces that you dont notice where they cut corners. Miniature bathroom with not even a hook for bath towels - below average food - go to Elmers instead - Hotel gets overcrowded with not enough lounge chairs for guests. They didnt update plumbing and people sit on floor outside rooms at night smoking pot - Hotel looks good at night however when you cant see the details! So disappointed as wanted to stay here for a long time - the Horizon Hotel is so much better First and last time - get me out of this place!

Yelp
Amazing welcoming staff, food and bar. The room and pool was clean and nice and the staff was so great. Beware of mosquitos, we went to CVS and get bug spray. They linger outside the room. Definitely would recommend this place to family and friends and would go back.
