Del Rey Cafe and the Loft

The staff was exceptionally friendly and my fish and chips came with three big pieces. It is the Cole slaw that was most amazing! It had a secret ingredient I’ve not had before and it was memorable! I liked my table view out the window too.

Be warned, the servings here are large. We ordered the appetizer nachos and it was a full oval plate. This is my husband's and I favorite place to stop when grom from Sutherlin to Roseburg. The people are always so nice and fun to talk with, and the food is alway amazing.

Really nice little restaurant/cafe with a lounge if you prefer. We sat in the lounge area and it was great. They have high tops and low top tables. Video poker in the corner. Very clean and the service was awesome. To top it off they service breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day long so everyone in our group were happy. Highly recommended checking them out if you are in the area.

I love this little down home Restaurant. Always friendly service, delicious food, filling portions, and although it always seems to be busy there is always a place to sit and have a good meal with minimal waiting times at reasonable prices. I highly recommend.

This place is great! I came in for breakfast on my way to a job. The service is prompt and friendly and the food is spot on too. Definitely stop here if you're passing through.

I've been craving some biscuits and gravy for a while now because I don't like these places that give you hard little biscuits with not enough gravy. OMG... it took two take out containers for one order of biscuits and gravy that had two huge biscuits and smothered in gravy. They're the best tasting biscuits and gravy I've ever had (except for my Mama's)... and the price was very reasonable. The service was impeccable and the place was operating like a Swiss Watch. While waiting for my order, I offered a clean joke for a couple of the waitresses and they both had the most infectious laughter. It's a pretty famous place and it's right off old hwy 99. Google maps or just watch for the signs on the freeway. If I had the resources, I'd eat there every day. As I sat there, three or four patrons made comments of "see you next week" If you don't go there to eat, you're missing out on a wonderful and enjoyable experience. I stopped by here with my son. I hadn't been here, and I was a little skeptical. I was overwhelmed and surprised with the great food and atmosphere. The lounge area is very warman and inviting. Places very clean restrooms are very clean and food is really good. I recommend coming back here. I will bring my wife and I am looking forward to it.

Decent food. The coffee was weak. Eggs Benedict was good. Pancakes yummy. Biscuits and gravy was ok. Good gravy. Dry biscuits. Normal eggs. Average sausages. Small hole in the wall location. Pretty busy with many families. Food came fast and hot. I was looking for a quick meal while driving to Portland.

I love local diners like this. Great, simple food, that serves the community at a good price. The building is super cute with a lot of friendly staff. You can sit at a bar downstairs, there's a bunch of tables in the general area, or go up to the loft where ID is required. Plenty of food options, many vegetarian options too! My sausage and onion omelette came out perfectly, with the hash browns nice and crispy. My spouses pancakes were fluffy and super sweet. And my mother in law's breakfast burrito looked delicious. Overall a great try if you're in the area and if I lived here I'd be eating at Del Rey Cafe all of the time.

We go to the Loft at the Del Ray as often as we can on Tuesdays for their pork tacos. They are wonderful and reasonably priced. Service is always good and the only problem is they are so popular that it can be very crowded. They are crowded because those tacos are so good and not expensive. One of my friends swears by the fish tacos. I haven't tried those yet as the pork one are so doggone good.

The food is what you expect from. 'Moms' place, it was better than good, there was more than I could eat and the service great.

Stopped in to the bar not knowing the cafe was the lower level. Grimey with antiquated furniture made this an uncomfortable dining experience. Fries served cold/soggy and chili for burger lacked flavor/spice. The server was nice but service super turtle slow mo.

The food here is outstanding and the service is even better! The lounge offers great drinks.

Great place to eat. I am especially fond of the Engineer's Burger and the Blue Bacon Cheese Burger. Their food preparation and service is excellent. I don't mind sitting at their counter if the place gets crowded.

Old fashioned style breakfast cafe! My husband and I split the daily special which was a shaved beef and mushroom omelette! The service was great and the omelette was huge . We split it and still had some leftover . It came with home fries and toast! Fast and friendly service and a good breakfast to start the day

I am OBSESSED with this place. I live in Myrtle Creek & would drive all the way there everyday if I could afford it! Service is always great on the cafe side I don't know anything about the bar side. We always have the sweetest servers too. I've tried a few different things & everything has been amazing! Once I left my delicious cinnamon roll on the table & she ran outside to my truck in the pouring rain & gave it to me. There is seriously no better place for food & service. I recommend this place to everybody!

Some friends had recommended we try Del Rey and the Yelp reviews were interesting, so off we go... Half bar lounge, half cafe and out on the edge of town... something vaguely familiar and comfortable about being in a countryside setting off the beaten path. Staff is extraordinarily pleasant, active, very personable and treated us like old friends. The walls have historical photos of people picnicking, fishing and daily life. The atmosphere is very relaxed and somewhat loud with all the talking among friends. Breakfast is served all day. The menu is nice in that it has quite a variety without being too limited or being overly large. Something for everyone. Our server was just awesome! Very comfortable, relaxed and easygoing, very jovial and seemed actually very glad to be there. Tables were bussed and drinks refilled, it was a smooth operation all the way. I was looking at what they call the Logger Burger, it looks huge! ..but then I saw a Beef Philly and being a Philly snob I had to try it. It was just about perfect with the correct cut and cooking of the meat. The melted cheese held it all together with the peppers and onions on a properly toasted hoagie roll. The mushrooms were a nice addition and added nicely to the flavor profile. The fries were cooked very well and were not salted so you can add your preferred amount if any. We shared an order of onion rings and those were a direct hit, an absolute perfect blend of a thick onion ring with a thick crispy coating. When you bite into these onion rings you get a clean separation bite without pulling the whole onion out of the crust. Well done! The flavor of the batter was excellent and they were not greasy but were very moist from fresh onions. The food and service was so good that we want to return to try a few other items. Something about this experience just fired on all cylinders for us, it must be the staff attitude combined with great food.

We have always been curious about this place whenever we're in the Roseburg area. My sister has lived in the area for over 25 years and convinced her to go here. Definitely will go back! The restaurant was renovated and the upstairs bar area is now open. We were here for breakfast. I stuck with the typical combo breakfast but the Reuben omelette was definitely good! If you are not counting calories or is worth the splurge.

Food is Above Average which is a major plus Ambiance it's great because it's like a if it's not a mom and pops Café and that's what I really enjoy about it. You go in there. You see regulars in there even though I'm not a regular but you see him in there because you hear him talking they're talking about how they meet every so many days and so they could chitchat and the food has always been good and the amount a food that you receive is more you really expect for the price Only thing I have to say is, I know they have the regulars and their they know these people from coming in every day for breakfast or whatever but when a new person comes in and they don't know your menu they don't know your cook and maybe they wanna tweak the breakfast because that's the way they like it. Please be a little bit patient And not get upset and walk away from the table and say you'll be back that's happened to me three times that's the only problem I have other than that I'm very happy with it.

This is someplace I've wanted to try for a while because of the reviews. They have a lot of reviews for their breakfasts but this is a review for lunch. We both had the fish and chips because the menu photos looked so good. This was one instance where the menu photos were close to what you got but this time what you got was even better than the photo! The fish was golden brown and good sized pieces of fish. It was absolutely delicious with really crispy crunchy edges. And a massive pile of French fries on the rest of the plate. The fries were so good!! I normally eat just a couple but these were too good to stop. That said there is still 3 of the 6 fish and 3/4 of the mound of fries to take home. Even the slaw was tasty. You can't beat this meal for $14.25. I can't wait to come back for breakfast. The table next to me had a pillow of a biscuit with sausage gravy cascading down the sides. I am not a big breakfast person but I make a rare exception for biscuits and gravy or chicken fried steak. Seriously, the biscuit looked like a pillow. I also need to come back on Friday for their house made clam chowder. Service was wonderful. She was nice and cheery and knew the menu. 5 stars for her. Wish I could remember her name. The only negative were the flies flying around us. This is the time of year they wait by the door to come in to get warm and do what flies do. I'm not sure what can be done-in keeping with health codes-since the door opens and closes all the time...but it's annoying when your eating.

Good food, fair price, and a lovely diner. They could use another server the day we were there. She was really good, but stretched thin.

I used to love this place, But until I had heard there was cockroaches in the back I was unsettled. My last experience was not very enjoyable either, I had flies swarming me and landing on my food. Service wise, I was told to find my own table.. which is kind of tough when it is busy. As far as the atmosphere it was comfortable, but very dim lighting and sort of chilly I won't lie.

Short on time. Ate here twice this week. The first time, the burger would have been great but I asked for MR (M would have been fine), I got MW-W, very dry meat with no flavor. Everything else was very good. The second time I had the club sandwich. Not very good, especially for the price. Pretty small sandwich and there was 'maybe' one half to at the most one slice of bacon for the entire sandwich, all four portions. And the bacon is the best part. The service was great both times. Two times not very good, I won't be back. Thank you for your time.

today Cathy called me a COW for complaining about my meal, over 10 years now I ask for extra butter on my toast, they either don't do it or put it on the side, I only have 1 good arm, it's hard to do it myself so cause of my handicap, I ask for extra butter, such a simple request, 1 waitress Bella always makes sure it's correct before bringing it out, the rest no. Cathy says they are to busy to do it, I'm not doing it, I sent the entire meal back and went elsewhere instead, very sad, I'll miss the good help

This restaurant is close to our residence, under new ownership so we decided to give them a try. We ordered the Rueben and logger burger. Each sandwich came with a side. Unfortunately they were out of salad greens (we are still living in Covid times, we get it). The logger burger was huge and the side of tots would feed two ppl. The Rueben was good but not great. Could of used more meat, kraut and sauce. Very polite and accommodating. We got our order to go. We ordered on a wkend during meal time. Was promised and ready in 20 min. A very good experience. We will be back. Oh, very reasonable too. $30 for 2 meals. 100% better than franchise meals!

I'm back and my 3rd, 4th, & 5th visits have been excellent. Hamburger steak and eggs make a great dinner too. We had the home made vegetable soup, taste the love Our 3 kids, unruly and obnoxious, waitress still took it in stride. (The beatings should begin soon) Can't wait to get back.

Fast, friendly service and spotless to boot! I had the Bridge Burger and it was amazing. Really, it is for two people easily. Their burger are that big! Beef was fresh and patty tasted homemade. The fries were even great, especially when dipped in that very dangerous BBQ sauce that they have that is made locally. Will be back for sure, I'll just make sure I don't eat a day or two before I go!

Cute breakfast cafe on the lower level and a cozy bar in the loft. We stopped in for breakfast the food was good with decent portions. They also have gluten free options! Service was good for it being busy on the weekend and the waitress were all friendly and helpful.

Their food portion is unbelievably huge. I was there at 10 am for breakfast and I couldn't eat anymore food the entire rest of the day. Food is good but not great. I wish they could creat more innovative dishes.

It's hard to mess up breakfast, but ... hash browns could have had some taste, sunny up eggs could have been a lot less runny, bacon not so good. Will not be a repeat customer.

In town visiting family and happy to see this place is still alive and kicking. Stopped by for a couple of tacos for Taco Tuesday and they didn't disappoint. Are they fancy, creative tacos? No, but they're still damn delicious! Beef, chicken, and BBQ pulled pork are all $2.50 each; the fish and shrimp tacos are $5.50 each. Our party had the beef, chicken, and pork tacos. We each had 2 tacos and a drinm, and left with very full tummies thanks to the generous portion sizes. Dinner out for under $10 per person is a rare find, especially if everything is made fresh. A visit to Del Rey for Taco Tuesday will be on the agenda for any future trips!

Went here on a Sunday morning recently and while the service and ambiance was not bad the food left much to be desired. The scrambled eggs were over cooked and almost burned. The pork chops were over salted. The visit kind of reminded us why we very rarely go to this cafe. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Great service, excellent diner style food, taco Tuesday is particularly great and I like the warm environment.

An update on Del Ray Cafe. I had breakfast there today (4/12). There was only one server, Kathy. That lady was busy but I didn't hear any complaints. When I asked for something, she'd smile and say, "I'll have it to you as quick as I can" and she served all the tables (as far as I could see) quickly and nicely. Good Chili Cheese Omelet, great hash browns, the rye toast was dry but my husband's sour dough was great. (I didn't need it anyway!) Kathy was great! I hope they pay her well! Sorry, I forgot to take photos but the food looked as good as it tasted!

I visit my mother every year for thanksgiving, and this year my cousins and brother joined us. We were there for a week and ate out a lot. We went to Del Rey Cafe because I had an excellent experience last year, and upon reviewing my last review wanted to check if they were still as good! Answer: Yes! I had eggs Benedict and I'm a EB snob. Yoke was cooked perfect, I ordered extra sauce and I'm glad I did, it was silky and wonderful. My cousin ordered the mushroom hamburger soup that was amazing. A flavor I had never experienced! Kathy was our waitress, she was excellent, food came out quick, and she was very accommodating!! I love this place!

The food here is AMAZING!! I've never had anything bad here. Their service is GREAT, and we're a little partial to Cathy (and, of course Leah!). But everyone that works there has a great personality, is always friendly and happy.

I called to make sure their open faced turkey sandwich was made with real roast turkey (like at Casey's) and not pressed turkey. I was assured they roast their own turkey and it wasn't pressed. It was pressed. Blah. And the iced tea tasted like last weeks. Very disappointing.

I went in and had the country fried steak it was perfectly portioned and awesomely cooked the potatoes were best the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable the beverages there were very good good music if you want on the jukebox

There are not many decent breakfast restaurants in the Roseburg area ... my emphasis on decent. Del Rey is one of the exceptions. Over the years (I travel through the area several times a year) I've found the food quality and portions being usually consistent ... and the service is always pleasant. The food gets to the table in a reasonable amount of time. Even the prices are reasonable. Breakfast time can get very busy, and being a smaller establishment it can get crowded. That said, I've never felt rushed to eat and get out. I've had dinner here a few times, and I found the experience to be simply okay. The restaurant decor is ver simply and is usually clean, although when they're really busy they can fall a little behind on busing tables, which can be a little frustrating when standing in line waiting for a table. Parking can get a bit tricky, but not a real problem.

Food and service was great. The dining room was clean, modern rustic decor. Loved the option to pay on my phone right from the receipt, made it so easy!

Great burger! Ordered the Bridge burger with pastrami and Swiss cheese with tots. Tots were cooked perfectly with the right amount of crunch, and the burger could have fed two of us. My daughter had the French dip and gave it two thumbs up! Would stop by again on way through southern Oregon

We were just traveling through from Washington to home in California. Let me tell you this place is so good! The service was awesome. The waitress recommended the loaded hash brown with my omelette. Woah!! So good! Even just the plain hash browns were so freakin good! My husband misses the breakfast and it's been 2 weeks since we visited. You can even have your dogs on the patio and enjoy your meal. I love that they care about dog's being left in hot cars. We will definitely making this out to go spot when we travel yearly to Washington. Thanks for the great food guys! California

We are new to Roseburg i the last 4 years. We live in the Winchester and tried the Del Ray 4 years ago, we only went once. After is changed ownership we tried again and now we go there regularly. A great local spot!

So many great things to say about the Del Ray! Family friendly restaurant with the best pancakes ever! Both my kids announce this every time we eat here. The menu is great, never had a bad thing. A few of my favorites are the breakfast burrito & French Dip. They also have specials daily. Full bar, with delicious drink options. The place is super clean and the staff is very friendly. A must visit for breakfast lunch & dinner!

The food is always good but the last time I was in there it took me 45 minutes to get a order of pancakes service is great too long to get the food though

Recently went here. The service was the best I've had in roseburg ANYWHERE! She was swamped, yet still paid attention to us brought us our drinks, salads and dinner was delicious. We had chicken fried steak, and open faced hot turkey. Everything was wonderful. I would definitely go there again and the waitress was great. Give it a try. Prices also very reasonable!

Chicken special and blue cheese burger were delicious. Definitely want to come back for the biscuits and gravy.

I have been coming to this place for a few months now and I can say the food is consistently good. Good atmosphere and like to go there for breakfast and lunch so far I like the food and service.

Nice little cafe. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We are passing through and my brother took us there for bkfast/lunch. Good food too. Very clean. Would recommend.

They are only getting 2 stars because the server did the best that she could, otherwise I would give only one star. My breakfast arrived with one egg extremely undercooked and the other egg was broken. I asked the server to have my egg cooked more and she took it back to the kitchen and it came back to me in seconds with the raw egg just turned over. The hash browns were undercooked and cold, the toast ( a really nice marble rye) was not toasted and soaked in the cold, broken yolk of one of the eggs, and the bacon had been deep fried. It was just awful. The server tried her best but it was unacceptable.
