Del Sur Fresh Mex & Cantina

My husband and I decided to try Del Sur and, at the end of our meals, we were thoroughly impressed. Isabella, who took care of us 100%, was right there whenever we needed her, with the biggest smile and (seriously) ultra-kind! The dishes we both ordered were delicious! And, as I've written below, we were not thirsty afterwards (later in the day or at night), which is usually the case when foods / meals are high in sodium - he low sodium meals are what we look for in a restaurant! We highly recommend Del Sur Mex & Cantina!

Family dinner. Great atmosphere with a guitar player who allowed me to join him. Our server did not write down our orders and consequently made several errors. My wife and I got beef instead of chicken. My chilie rellano was not recognizable as such. My son and his family enjoyed their food. We had to ask for silverware and napkins, and our chip basket was not refilled.

We ate on their patio and had great service. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous for the price! Be warned, their “small” Margaritas are HUGE and for $10.25 not a bad price! Would definitely recommend!

We have ordered here a few times before and have usually been happy. We drive around 20 mins each way to get the food. Tonight we ordered queso dip, two vegetarian entrees and elote. The vegetable fajitas was incomplete when we got home. Missing the tortillas and rice & beans that come with the order. Called back to let the restaurant know that we essentially paid $16 for grilled vegetables and they weren’t willing to help fix the problem. The manager said they can’t refund the entree price we paid due to complications with the online ordering system. He said to bring a receipt and they would give us extra food next time. The manager ended the call saying “sorry my man” and didn’t seem that apologetic about the situation. We are now running to the grocery store nearby to buy tortillas so we can eat the food that was ordered. This isn’t the first issue we have had here, but the first one we called back to speak with the restaurant. Missing half of an entree isn’t ok - especially for the price. Will not be returning to this restaurant.

The portions were generous without sacrificing quality, and every bite had that homemade taste you can’t find just anywhere. The service was just as impressive: friendly, attentive, and fast. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone craving real Mexican food!

Since moving to the Falls Cove area of Lake Norman from California, I've been on the hunt for some authentic Mexican food. Neighbors recommended this restaurant, so my husband and I decided to check it out. We had the best experience! Even though the restaurant was packed, the waitress and the team ensured that we had an enjoyable time. A gentleman was also playing live guitar while we dined. Portion sizes were more than generous. We even got to sample their new beef tongue tacos, which were AMAZING 🔥! The drinks also had a nice kick to them. The salsa bar offered a range of spice levels, from mild to "holy habanero" 🌶️ 🥵. My favorite item out of everything surprisingly had to be their rice! I can't wait to return for a girls' night out next time!

We celebrated my daughter’s 16th birthday at this restaurant, and everything was perfect! The service was impeccable — hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to be attended by the tall gentleman who served us. He was attentive to every detail, always so kind and friendly that we felt right at home. Thank you! From the moment you walk through the door, everything is perfectly orchestrated; the service is unmatched, and the food is both spectacular and generously portioned. I definitely recommend this place 1000%!

Came here after some training at the hospital. The service was exceptional and quick - boxing up my food FOR me (such a lost customer service art) which was impressive. 1) I loved the prices - the queso was $3.99 when oftentimes places charge $8 or more for the same. 2) the elite was also $3.99 and they shaved it off the cob for me cause I didn't want it smeared all over my face 3) for my main, I ordered the ACP Tex Loco. I completely missed the chorizo in the dish and so the salt and grease was an ick for me. Totally my fault and I picked around it. My leftovers would have been delicious as the flavors melted together but the chorizo was overpowering (again, not their fault whatsoever). I will 10/10 come back for a margarita night with my girls

This is honestly one of the best Mexican restaurants in Mooresville. Someone took me here one time and I was hooked! Their ACP is great and the chips are always fresh. I've taken my family here and they all love it and agreed it was the best spot in Mooresville.

Tried to come here 2 to 3 times before, but the line was out the door so I didn't bother. I sure as heck wish I did, though! This quesadilla is unbelievable! Cheesy, loaded with toppings, and the meat is very well seasoned. The vegetables are fresh. The pico is delicious. This is gonna be not just my new spot for Mexican food, but my new spot for lunch in general! I'm not gonna review the restaurant seating and lighting and all that because I don't think it matters. Come get ACP or a quesadilla or some tacos and I bet you'll be more than satisfied!

This place fills up quickly for lunch, so get there early! I enjoyed my visit because the service was fast and the food was hot. The menu had a lot of options, and it is your standard Mexican restaurant menu. We were immediately walked to our table and there was chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. I ordered the ACP lunch special with chicken shrimp and steak with a side of jalapeño . Everything was so well seasoned and I had half of my plate left over to take home because the portion side was great! The queso wasn't as spicy as I anticipated, but it still was good. I will definitely come here more often!

Really fun bar with great staff! They engaged with us and were always laughing and having a good time! They sang happy birthday to me and brought me a birthday shot, that was fun! We all had lunch specials and the food was good. The margaritas are huge and they have a big variety of choices. The tres leche cake was delicious!

Food: very authentic, great prices, chips are super fresh and there's a salsa bar for you to make your own dip! Menu is extensive, there's options for everyone but the tacos were superb! Very authentic! Mexican Coke available! Service: fast and friendly, servers were always checking on us. Ambience: nice decor, there's even live music which makes the atmosphere even more interesting!

Have yet to find a Mexican Restaurant that can hold a candle to this one! Because this is hands down the BEST. The service is FAST no matter how packed they are!! The restaurant is very clean! They have the best I've ever had, we have become regulars here. I can't agree to eat Mexican food anywhere else.

Food and service were great. Staff was friendly during the pick up process. Everything was placed correctly and no items missing which that alone is a big deal.

Just like what we're used to back at home in California but super friendly service and huge portions. Delicious NC Mexican food. Highly recommend.

In my opinion this is the best Mexican food in the LKN area. Despite them always being busy, the service is always good. They have a salsa bar where you can choose your favorite type of salsa. The food is great everything I have tried is really good. The Veggie Fajitas are my favorite, their corn tortillas are really good, they might make them in house, I know they have a lot of locations. Highly reccommended!

Was trying to find a food spot in the area, and I'm so happy my mom and I stopped in. We came during lunch. From the moment we were sat, the service was impeccable. Fast drinks, fast service and quick ordering. We were quickly given the table chips and salsa, which the salsa was delicious and def homemade. We ordered fairly quickly. I got the grande quesadilla with chicken (think it was called that) and mom got a taco salad. I swear it only took like 10 minutes or less to get the food to our table. Mind blown. The portions were big, hot and the food was delicious. AND it was such a good price. The quesadilla was big -- had the perfect amount of meat, cheese and veggies (I normally opt out of veggies but I'm so glad I didn't). I ate a little over half the quesadilla. I tried the taco salad too, it was delicious. I already told my sisters about this place, and can't wait to try it again when I come back to the area! Very pleased and happy!!

Easily the best TexMex I've ever had and I've eaten all over Texas at the "best" Mexican spots. The service was amazing. They were fast to get the food out and kept up with us the entire meal. The ambiance was very typical Mexican restaurant, fun music and fun Mexican decor

Tried out some Mexican for lunch today and Del Sur looked good. We say down and the service was excellent from start to finish. Very efficient and fast. My wife had the lunch Chimi with steak and I had ACC. They make their flour tortillas and that makes a huge difference in taste and texture. Everything we had was very tasty and better than the average Mexican Restaurant! We will definitely be back! To those about to dine, ole!

Stars for cleanliness and service but the food was horrible. Most tasteless cheese and red tinted mushy ground beef. We were in the area and stopped here based on the reviews. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but it was a basic combo with burrito quesadilla rice and charro beans. The beans had hot dog chunks in them. One and done here.

Service was great! My waiter, Oswald, was very kind and attentive this evening. The food came out quickly and was delicious!

Friday night at 6 o'clock we were seated in about 20 seconds. Had chips and salsa on our table 10 seconds later. Super fast service great menu affordable prices and the food was wonderful. Highly recommend.

Amazing food every time we have come. Our favorite appetizer to eat with chips is the fresh guacamole with grilled onions. My favorite dishes have been Al pastor tacos and green sauce chicken enchiladas! Always good service and always busy!

We have visited Del Sur a few times. Most recently with our family of 9 after church. The staff has always been beyond kind and accommodating. The tables and overall environment is super comfortable. That is all great but what is really impotent here is the food. We have had fajitas, burritos, chile rellenos and much more. Everything is amazing and don't forget the help yourself salsa bar!!!

Maybe it was an off night? This is the highest rated Mexican restaurant in the Lake Norman area on Yelp and truthfully, if our dinner was the "norm" for this place, I cant imagine why the rating is so high. The good: Atmosphere, Cleanliness, Service, and the live Mariachi singer/guitarist. Place is really cute and clean. Our server was super kind and really professional. They had a salsa bar with what looked to be lots of choices to spice up your free chips basket. The bad: The fajitas Tejanas were the worst fajitas I've ever had... anywhere. The meats were in strange little pieces and mostly burnt. Half of it was stuck to the bottom of the cast iron plate. There were a few small pieces of pepper and some onions that were also burnt to a crisp. It just seemed old, flavorless, and burnt. Truly, the worst ever. The salsa served complimentary seemed fermented and tasted like it was made with beer... I just think, again, it was old and not fresh. Prices were high for the quality of the food. The fajitas were $20. The entire meal for 4 people was $80, which seemed steep for the type of establishment it was. I would've expected a 4 top at a Tex-Mex place to top out around $55-$60 without alcohol and including tip. The timing was also bad on the food - everything was brought "as it was ready" which left one person in our party waiting a long time after others had their food. The fajita meats came out a long time before the plate of tortillas/sour cream/rice+beans, etc... it just was poorly timed from the kitchen. So I know people love this place, but I won't go back... 4 out of 4 of us left saying "We like ___________ (other LKN area Mexican) so much better." I know this is an unpopular opinion judging by the other reviews, but my Yelp followers trust me to keep it real, and if you follow me because we have the same taste in food + other businesses, this isn't your choice for Mexican.

This restaurant draws big crowds, perhaps because of the variety of alcoholic beverages available. It can't be for the quality of the cuisine served. I ordered a dish with grilled chicken breast. I paid $14.00 for a few small bite sized pieces. Two of my friends ordered taco shell salad. The shell was so soggy that most of it was left uneaten. There are better Mexican restaurants in Statesville at lower prices. Our group will not be returning to Del Sur.

I love this discovery. I thought it was a small restaurant but it had terrific service, fantastic atmosphere (decorated everywhere) and even a serenade by a guitarist. I had the ACP Tex Loco and can't recommend it enough. I AM FULLAND IT TASTED MARVELLOUS. come here for dinner!!!

Another decent Tex-Mex restaurant in the Lake Norman area targeting value conscious diners. Large portions, ordinary ingredients at reasonable prices like a dozen others in the area. Decent service. For a few dollars more, if you want really great Mexican go to Superica in Charlotte, or La Capital MX - nothing around Lake Norman compares.

Great place with huge portions. Had the beef taco and chili relleno. Both were huge and very tasty. Got chips and solid salsa was immediately dropped off when we sat down. Our server was great too.

The food here is amazing. We especially luved the guacamole with sautéed onions. The jalapeño margarita was perfect and the shrimp fajitas fantastic. Our server, Al, was wonderful. Engaging, professional, hospitable. So glad we came here on our way through.

I walked in excited because I saw all the good reviews, and let me just tell you now... they are all true. The seating arrangement was roomy. On the left there was a bar and a few bar top tables, and from what I saw on the right side, there were booths and open tables. Everywhere I looked there appeared to be custom paintings and designs! This restaurant has a nice fresh and clean feel. Fernanda was out waitress, and she was absolutely wonderful! I ordered a house margarita and some cheese dip to start. When she brought out the margarita, I could already tell by the color it was going to be exceptional. Everything following was also great. I should also mention the fresh flavorful salsa! That salsa is probably one of the best salsas I've ever had! My buddy got a chicken and spinach burrito that was massive and he said it was super flavorful. The portion was so large. He had plenty to take home! We had Texas fajitas for two, which we also had plenty to take home. We absolutely took it home because you can taste of love and the quality preparation in each bite! Absolutely will come back!

Del Sur has a nice atmosphere, chips are fresh and hot, food is good and it is reasonably priced.

Great atmosphere and wonderful staff, but the food was "meh". Large portions, but bland, overcooked and over salted. Was very disappointed as I love Mexican food! Even the chips and salsa were boring.

We had a fantastic experience. Our first time eating here was tonight and Al was an amazing server. Our food was delicious and Al was fast and extremely attentive. The atmosphere was inviting and there was even live music! I would absolutely recommend Del Sur to everyone in town.

The only reason I can imagine this place to be as packed as it is because the portion size is ridiculously large. But the food's not ridiculously good. The drinks aren't ridiculously good. And the service isn't ridiculously good. Overall Meh.

I liked it plenty here when they opened, liked it here during the plague even, and I still like being here for some pre-post pandemonium lunch... really, about the only redeeming thing about working overnights is staying up until lunch on Friday. Sampling a variation on ACP for lunch is the way to go if you want a full belly and wallet to match, even with a choice of beverage Andy J will still cover lunch and tip. Basket of chips and salsa will hold you for the five or seven minutes it takes to plate your food and if you've saved the larger chips the ACP becomes dip. never had a complaint about the food or the staff or the decor... the overhead music can get annoying sometimes but it takes almost two hours for that to set in so that's partly on me ;-)

My husband and I have dined at Del Sur several times since our first visit this summer. While Mooresville isn't exactly close, we prefer their food over any other Mexican restaurant in Huntersville. We've had their carnitas, build-your-own dinner, ACP shrimp, combo quesadilla, lunch chimichanga, and lunch #3. Everything has been fantastic! Their plates are HUGE, and their portions are generous enough for leftovers. You can add queso to any plate for just $.99, too. We love their specialty salsa bar, where you can pick additional salsas to enjoy,with your food. (Their standard table salsa is excellent, too.) Service is fast, and the servers have always been friendly and helpful. Del Sur is definitely worth the drive!

Food is average, I'll say 6/10, we were more impressed the first time there. This is the third time. Service and ambiance are great as usual.

My husband and I went for the first time Saturday night and it was not disappointing. The food and atmosphere were amazing. The waiter could have been a little more attentive but he was good. You will not leave there hungry and the portions are HUGE!!!

Their Diao del Camerones brought the Diao sauce to the forefront and will satisfy your craving for the heat. Very interesting salsa too. Tasted like they used fire roasted tomatoes and maybe smoked ancho or Chipotle peppers. Very unusual, but pleasing to the pallet.

Within walking distance from our hotel we decided to give this highly rated restaurant a try. Glad we did! We were warmly welcomed, and quickly seated in this busy and vibrant Mexican restaurant. We were served warm fresh chips and really good salsa right off the bat. The mariachi singer was strolling and singing to the guests. The atmosphere was the best by far. The art was colorful, and the seating comfortable, and plenty. We ordered mojitos. They were perfect. Next came the food, on hot plates and presentation was on point. I had a chili rellano with beans and salad. It was perfect, and flavorful. My husband had burritos and enchiladas with rice and beans. He cleaned his plate. We were very happy with this choice of restaurant. The prices are reasonable, and we enjoyed eating here. I highly recommend this great Mexican restaurant.

Tasty, quick, attentive service and the portions are delicious and monstrous. Everything was fresh and came out on hot plates. If there is a ding, it's that the salsa is mild but i didn't ask if they had anything hotter. Carnitas was moist and tender. Yum.

Stayed at the hotel nearby, heard mixed reviews from the front lobby. One guy said it was garbage the other said it was good. I personally think it's good to really good. The service is good and the food is also pretty good. Not the best Mexican food but definitely reasonable and gets the craving satisfied. Beware, their green sauce is extremely hot though! Carne asada taco would have been great just needed a pinch of salt. Overall very good

Food was solid yet not spectacular, but what brought down the rating was the non-existent service, as we never saw our server again after he took our order and the food was brought to our table. Never got refills on our drinks (no one ever came by to ask if we needed anything), never got any extra napkins (no one ever came by to ask if we needed anything), never got any attention whatsoever, as we actually had to hunt down someone so we could pay our bill. Should have listened to the other reviews about the bad service...

Stayed at a hotel within walking distance and saw the good reviews so had to give it a try. Wow have to say I've traveled all over even in Mexico and this is probably at the top of my list. Chips and salsa were excellent and they bring a bowl of salsa so you don't have to beg for the little tiny cups you get in most Mexican restaurants. I tried the pork carnitas with verdant sauce and wow it was great!! They also have a small bar with different salsas pico and avocado dip. You just help yourself to whatever you like. I highly Recommend this place and the service was excellent. I'm staying 2 days plan on going back tomorrow. Enjoy and pick out what you like you will love it!!

Food is great! Not many Mexican restaurants can get to go right and Del Sur did a great job. We were very impressed with both of our dishes. Will definitely return and will be a staple near our new house.

Delicious!!! The serving size is solid. We went and ate in because some friends had raved about the cleanliness and spaciousness of how folks were being seated. The portions are insane. The ACP pineapple just makes me so happy. I've gotten it twice now. My boyfriend ordered a gigantic burrito the first time but then another variation of the ACP the second time. Really appreciate everything they are doing during this time. If you're not comfortable eating in, I believe they do to go!

Very good and very large portions!! They had live music outside on the porch, but inside was quieter. Quick service and overall great place to eat!
