Inside a Shell station lives some of the city’s most soulful street food. Community Impact reported their tortillas and chorizo are made from scratch; locals swear by the barbacoa, breakfast tacos, and that lively green salsa.

Located in the back of not the nicest Shell has station is Del Sur. Your order at the register and there is just one big table with 6 seats so to go is my preference. It’s decorated in old Hispanic wrestling masks. Tacos and burritos are all good. This visit was for breakfast. I ordered the bacon and egg breakfast burrito and added bacon to go. It took about 10 minutes and they provide you with the same two salsas you get with everything which is a green and red salsa. The green has more kick. At breakfast they also make onsite a large bowl of roasted salsa they put in the table. Don’t ever skip this stuff and take some home. It’s warm and roasted with tons of flavor. The breakfast burrito is the size of a small baby. It’s perfectly wrapped so it doesn’t fall apart. The flavors are very good and it’s so much better than any breakfast burrito you will get in the area. Del Sur is a hole in the wall blessing for this area.

This place is located inside a gas station but it doesn’t taste like gas station food! I bought the chicken burrito and it gave me all the flavors that I was looking for and it’s pretty big! I posted a picture of the burrito next to a bottle of sprite and what it looks like on the inside. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have elotes at the time but it’s on their menu (I judge Mexican restaurants by their hot sauce and their elotes, the hot sauce was pretty good😊) . The seating is pretty limited and it takes a while to get the food but I can appreciate that because it’s made to order. Overall, fairly good experience.

Google
This is hand-down the best spot in McKinney to get fresh & delicious tacos, tortas & more. Angela is the sweetest, always ready to greet you with a smile as she takes your order. You can feel the heart & soul of this family-owned business. Their customer service is top-notch & the food is amazing EVERY visit. Portions are very generous & great bang for your buck! Ignore the FAKE reviews, notice how none of them have any pictures & say the same thing. Stop in and see for yourself how amazing the food & service is. I promise you’ll be back! My go to is the chorizo, bacon & potato torta *Chefs Kiss*

Google
Del Sur Grill in McKinney has been my spot for over 10 years, and they’ve never missed. The food is always on point, exactly how I like it, and the service is top notch every single time. Angela aka "Ang" always takes great care of me, and the owners are the kind of people who make you feel like family. They actually know me and my crew by name, and that says a lot about how they run things. It’s more than just a good meal, it’s the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. If you haven’t been yet, trust me… go check it out!!

This place is a hidden gem inside a gas station. It has very little seating. We ordered Chorizo, Bacon, potato and egg and egg tacos All the tacos were amazing and freshly made. Salsa tasted great as well! We ordered corn regular as well, it was just okay!

Google
Our favorite taco spot for sure. Whatever that magical orange sauce is for the pork tacos…SO good. The ladies that run it are always so nice to my husband and son when they go in!

Google
Love their breakfast tacos and regular tacos, fantastic selection and great quality. Authentic and delicious! Update: Recently had the El Maximo (no cheese), Del Sur Taco with barbacoa, and Fish Taco- all on corn tortillas. Amazing! I could have easily had 2 of each. Favorite is the Del Sur Taco.

Google
Horrible horrible establishment! We ordered pickup order for breakfast and they only sell very limited breakfast but I figure, eh. Anyway i order a chorizo and egg taco. And I just wanted some beans in the taco which I consider pretty harmless. There were extras in the menu and beans and rice were listed at $3 a piece .. surely they mean a literal side for that right? Because adding beans in a taco for $3 is robbery. So we just wrote ‘add beans and remove the egg’ in the comments. When we pick up the order there were huge words on the to-go box that said “BEANS ARE EXTRA” and the taco was just chorizo only. Come on. We at least removed the egg! If beans are extra just add a little and write your stupid words on the box so we know for next time. Don’t just ruin our meal for some beans pettiness. I called and explained my disappointment in this restaurant and they hung up on me. Looks like I’m telling everyone I know that this place is run by horrible people. The tacos aren’t good anyway. There was way more cheese than anything in the taco. Do yourself a favor and go to Chilito Rojo! Those are super authentic tacos! Not these cheesy pieces of trash.

Yelp
Living in Texas means there are a TON of options for tacos within a few miles of anywhere you go. Consistently, some of the best ones are the ones hidden in gas stations, like this gem. Found it on Yelp (thanks y'all) and with the high ratings, I knew I was in for a treat. The "restaurant" is really just a window in the back corner inside the convenience store, with a small table and a few stools for anyone "eating in". Nothing quite matches the experience of sitting on a wobbly stool watching people buy cigarettes and lotto tickets while eating bomb tacos, honestly. I got myself 4 tacos, and I could've eaten more as they were SO good. I had 2 steak tacos, one chicken with jalapeño, and one that was chorizo and beef. The steak ones were my favorite. Prices are average, and service was friendly and quick. Dont expect luxury accomodations, but expect amazing tacos. Next time you stop to get gas, perhaps do it here, so you have an excuse to grab some of this food.

Yelp
They say they're open until 7 on Fridays but it's actually 5. Hmmm I'm thinking she means 6. Either way it's 6:42 and here we are looking at each other and somehow this is my fault. Call Grubhub to figure out a refund. LOL

Yelp
Street tacos in a gas station? Heck yes!! I love this place! They have amazing and authentic street tacos. I'm a big fan of their breakfast tacos and the chicken tacos. The chicken tacos have this perfect amount of juice or grease to them and great flavor. And you can't beat the price. Now, what I really want to acknowledge is the creamy jalapeño sauce. Hands down, one of the best sauces I've ever had from anywhere. You can tell it's made from scratch. It is very spicy. My mouth will be on fire from it but the amount of flavor and the consistency is everything! I come in at times just to buy a cup of the sauce so that I can incorporate it into my own home cooked meals.

Yelp
Food is amazing, authentic flavorful and freshly made. My go to for takeout. I have only ordered to go. Love the different sauces.

Yelp
Good service and good food that tastes pretty authentic for gas station food. My only gripe about this establishment is they don't use gloves. I saw the lady that takes the orders and handles the cash touch tortillas, touch the ipad, grab cash from customers, rub her eyes all without washing her hands

Yelp
Beef tacos, chicken tacos and fish tacos are our favorites! Very glad to have found this gem.

Yelp
Located inside a gas station that won't be winning any awards for sanitation, this taco joint is legit! Mostly a breakfast and lunch place, their tacos are fantastic! They make their tortillas in house, using a tortilla maker. Soft warm tortillas that don't fall apart holding the generous fillings. I tried 3 tacos. (El Santo, Taco del Sur and Campechano) all 3 were very good however the El Santo makes this place. The marinated pork is jammed packed with flavor, and the pickled red onions bring the acidity. The creamy salsa was fantastic, could be spicer but it was so flavorful that I really didn't mind. The taco del sur brings the heat!!! Perfectly griddled jalapeños and a massive slice of avocado. A meal on its own. The campechano was really great too just not as many bells and whistles. My only feedback would be to add limes to plate. And salsas.... No limes or salsas?!?! Unheard of. The salsas on the table were a after thought. No as much love went into those as the guajillo salsa that was on the taco.

Yelp
I have to admit, pretty good breakfast burrito! Have been trying to find a good place closer to home and this fits the bill. Made to order with fresh ingredients, so it takes a little longer to get your order if they are just. And it's worth the wait! We had the egg and bacon. It was delicious and so is their salsa. Enjoy!

Chris B.

Yelp
Love this place!! Great street tacos, Nice people!! Recently added more table space to handle more people. my go to spot for tacos!! Del Sur Taco has a grilled jalapeño and a hunk of fresh avocado!!!

Yelp
I've been coming here every Wednesday for the past two years and I have not been disappointed once. From the friendly staff to their delicious food, this place is easily the best Taco spot in all of McKinney! Cant recommend this place enough.
google avatar

Yelp
not sure why everyone is raving about this spot. perhaps they never had real street tacos outside of Texas? the tacos were underwhelming compared to places that we have found in the last two years since moving here. it also took a long time for our food to come out and there were only 2 other customers there. tried their menudo a month ago and it was $19 a bowl! what a joke. and no hominy. when we asked if their recipe doesn't use hominy, the woman said it's not a lot but it's in there. lie. not one hominy in the two bowls that we had. i noticed most patrons are local workers. it's sad that you would charge this much to hardworking men. There are much better tasting tacos in McKinney and Plano.

Yelp
I used to like this place but I will not be returning from now on. For those that don't know, this is a little taco place right in the Shell gas station at Eldorado and Lake Forest. Reason #1 - I went in there and saw a gigantic rat run around the corner near the bathroom. The guy running the gas station checkout didn't seem to care all that much. Reason #2 - not sure what happened with this place, but it shut down for a few days a little while back and, when they reopened, the prices have gone up and the service is terrible. You have to wait for the cashier at the front to finish texting before he will grace you with his checkout abilities. So, I don't care for rats with my tacos and, on top of it, ridiculous prices served with attitude. NO THANKS!
google avatar

Wayne S.

Yelp
Food good, service is fast... it's a to-go place, no seating, so be aware. I've been coming here for years. It's real, not the overly confusing tacos like at the bigger commercial joints.
google avatar

Carrigan R.

Yelp
This is located in the Shell gas station which usually is a good sign for good street tacos. I was surprised that the food was underwhelming. The chicken and pork tacos did not have much flavor to them and were pretty fatty. The tortillas were definitely homemade, which is great, however they didn't have much flavor either. The green sauce was good and spicy and the orange sauce had a nice smokiness to it.
google avatar

Brian G.

Yelp
I've been here many times over the years and always love the tacos & freshness of the tortillas. Nice folks too.
google avatar

Abigail P.

Yelp
Located inside the gas station, this place hits the spot when it comes to breakfast tacos. I definitely want to come back to try other items on the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Mexican food. I have been craving an authentic breakfast burrito since moving here from California. Tacos are popular here but it's hard to find good burritos made with those oversized tortillas. But this place gets it right. I dinged it one star on account that they're open 10-3 and closed on Sundays. Food-wise it's a solid 5

Yelp
Laaaawwwwwwddd my tacos were so good they didn't make it down the street ! My new spot

Yelp
Well Deserved Praise! I had been hesitant to order food from a restaurant inside of a gas station, but I'm glad that I trusted the many favorable Yelp reviews and tried it out. The food was delicious; the menu has a nice selection; and the service was friendly. I did have to wait a bit for my order, but they seemed to be working as quickly as possible, and the wait was reasonable given the crowd and the quality. I can recommend the burrito with carnitas, which was flavorful and generous; I also loved the El Santo taco and Taco Del Sur. I am looking forward to trying the breakfast items, but I'll need to stop in before 11:00 a.m. since it is not served all day. It is rumored that they will open a standalone restaurant someday. I look forward to that and hope that the quality stays high and the prices low. Until then, I'm glad that I can fill up on tacos and gas at the Shell on El Dorado Parkway and Lake Forest Dr. :-)

Yelp
This place reminded me of the typical, hole in the wall Mexican joints, back in San Antonio. I had been searching N TX for a great hole in the wall, and I've found it! Inside the Shell gas station, they serve amazing street tacos and homemade corn tortillas! I tried the carnitas, pollo and asada. Enjoyed them all. Wish I didn't live 40 mins away, as I would also love to try their breakfast tacos. They also have tortas and burritos. We have nothing like this place, in Sherman. I may need to move to McKinney soon! Highly recommended. My only minor complaint was that the meat was slightly greasy, but it was all flavor. Didn't bother me enough to knock off any stars.
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
They are open and 9am on Sunday. Yelp time is wrong. Nothing beats gas station tacos!!! The quesadilla was solid, they did not skimp out on meat. Favorites were steak and barbacoa tacos! The carnitas was kind of dry. The green sauce is super spicy and oh so good!

Yelp
I'm a total foodie... this is my absolute favorite place to eat in the Dallas area. Truly a great find. Everything is amazing, the service is great. Not a lot of seating options, but still worth it for the food.
google avatar

Yelp
Tacos are delish! I pre-ordered with grubhub app, and food was ready when I was there.

Saurabh S.

Yelp
A hidden gem in a gas station. One of the best tacos in the McKinney area. The only issue is the limited seating.
google avatar

Troy P.

Yelp
Fresh ingredients cooked authentic. Very friendly service and the food is ready quick to satisfy that craving for amazing tacos. Everything I've tried has been delicious!

Yelp
After seeing the hype, my family and I decided to try this place. It's really close to my house and we didn't really see the hype honestly. The place was good don't get me wrong but it wasn't AMAZING. There's deff better tacos. The thing that made us knock it down to 3 stars was that we didn't get limes Also the quesadillas were kinda of boring. Maybe add some onions in the inside. I would go again if I was craving but if I had the time I would drive somewhere else.
google avatar

Amanda V.

Yelp
I used to eat here all the time when I lived in McKinney. When I come back to town I always grab a burrito or torta from here. They are great as far as hospitality and every single thing I've ever ate here was great. It's a small place and can have a long wait when it's busy but totally worth it.

Yelp
I had heard about this place and then coincidentally came across their Instagram profile. Between my love for good ol' street tacos and what had to be clear signs...I jumped into the SUV and checked it out. In all transparency, upon arriving I was initially thinking - ummmmm, it's inside a gas station. Gosh, I'm so glad I didn't allow that to dissuade me. It is inside a gas station; but even the inside of this gas station seemed different. It was almost as if the concept was a gas station constructed around an amazing taco food truck. Immediately picked up on the aroma of legitimacy and taco excellence. Smell that? I had the beef tacos and sides of rice and beans with a Mexican Coca Cola. Oh yeah baby...the taste buds were very pleased. Very very delicious. Meat wasn't chewy fatty like some places that are skimping on good quality. Sauces (a green and a red) were both great accents. I'm a Lime everything up guy; so, I Lime'd mine up to complete personal perfection. YUM! Seating is very limited and with its popularity, could probably sometimes be difficult to be able to enjoy and eat while seated. They offer all of the meat options you would expect from a legit Taco Food Truck. I'll be back to try the Chicken and then back again for some more beef. Tacos in my future!

Yelp
Food was good and service was fast . Me personally I would prefer a more spicy salsa . I do recommend this place if you're not into spicy stuff.

Kristyn W.

Yelp
Yes, this is located inside of a weird gas station. But is the food delicious? 100%. Just get carry out and bring your food home because the ambiance is definitely NOT the reason to eat here. Our order came out pretty quick, considering how many people were waiting and there only being 2 people behind the counter. I was pleased with the portion sizes, too. Will definitely visit again.

Sebastian P.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with fresh tortillas and their salsas are delicious. A must try if you're in the area.
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
The tacos are so greasy! I ordered a two tacos which were good but just so greasy to enjoy. The homemade salsa was excellent. Counter service was pleasant. The food was ready very quickly. You must purchase drinks at the convenience store counter.
google avatar

Yelp
Trashy gas station. Authentic street tacos. The most authentic I've tried in North Dallas. Carnitas $1.87 seasoned and tender. Awesome. Barbacoa $1.87 oily moist and good Asada $1.87 with pineapple slice, not chunks like Al Pastore, complements the pork. Not dry, this is a good choice. Corn tortillas were on the dry side. Meat, onions, cilantro. That's how you do that. Green salsa is avocado based and a little creamy. Tacos best without the them. That's the sign of a great taco, not a bad salsa. Of the 18 people who came and went while I was eating, 3 were Caucasian. Now that's what I expect to see from a real taco shop. This ain't no Fuzzys or any other chain taco crap. This is the real deal.

Justin C.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall tacos! Back Of shell gas station. I recommend the carnitas or Barbacoa
google avatar

Patricia J.

Yelp
Decent for the price. Cheapest for fish tacos in the area. Sauce was spicy and delicious. Fish itself was a bit under seasoned. Want to try a few other places around to compare. Friendly service.
google avatar

Diana N.

Yelp
Wow these tacos are SMALL. See photos for reference! They may have been appropriate-sized for my son, but even then, he may need 2! Mind you, he's only 1.5 years old! I think these tacos are overpriced. Prices have changed compared to the menu you see listed on Yelp. Barbacoa, Beef and Pork is $1.97 each. They are the size of street tacos - two bites and gone! They were smaller than the size of my hand. Barbacoa was a tad bit drier than I am used to (maybe needed to be cooked longer). I definitely did not feel "full" after having these tacos and we had these for breakfast. The egg/bacon my son had looked good, but I didn't have any. Still small and expensive for $1.75. The sauce was pretty good and tasted fresh. However, I would not return based on the price and size of tacos. I've had much better tacos and for much cheaper! My search for authentic street tacos continues....
google avatar

Bisi A.

Yelp
The Food is great! Service is amazing. You won't regret eating here. Truly great food and service
google avatar

María F.

Yelp
The search is over. Literally over. THESE ARE THE TACOS. Anyone craving for that street taste look no further, because these people know how to make an authentic Mexican taqueria taco. They were juicy, amazingly seasoned, with the perfect ratio of onions/cilantro and the softest melt in your mouth tortilla. The two salsas that cane with them, a green one and a brownish one were on the hot side but added so much flavor. These tacos are proof that the simplest things, well executed can be truly outstanding.
google avatar

John E.

Yelp
Ok....I'm back for more authentic maize tacos! Rice and beans are good and 1.25 is reasonable. The tacos are 1.87/each and pretty small for the price....Gotta factor the Northside Upcharge:-). Really good flavor. Honestly, for these prices, stop at Papasitos!!! Ha!
google avatar

Louis V.

Yelp
Solid. Best tacos in McKinney. Highly recommend the asada, barbacoa, cochinita pibil and "el santo" tacos. Others are good too but I feel those four are the best.
google avatar

Adam D.

Yelp
Who would think that a little stand on the corner of shell would be serving up bomb tacos? I was comfortable with the ratings so we gave it a shot and it didn't disappoint!

David H.

Yelp
Awesome tacos - hidden in a gas station - some of the best tacos and Mexican street food in North Dallas! It is also very reasonable - cheap even
google avatar

Betty I.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!!!! Absolutely the BEST! Tacos never disappoint. Always fresh, always authentic , not Tex Mex!

Louis K.

Yelp
Nice spot for some delicious tacos. A literal hole in the wall, but that's often the place to go for good tacos.
google avatar

Eric P.

Yelp
Greeted by a friendly woman at the counter. Service was prompt and informative - Precise menu. Tacos, tacos and tacos. Don't let that be the deciding factor. I had 6 variations of the menu and the "El Santo" was one of my favs. They all stood out in their own way but man what a surprise place and food to boot. I'm going back on Saturday for fresh salsa and of course more tacos!!! Hidden gem in McKinney!!! WOW!!
google avatar

Yelp
I came here on a whim one night after having heard about this place and wanted to like it since it is near my house. A taco place in a gas station in a suburb, what could go wrong? Well, first off, it is street taco, so very basic. The ordering is done in the corner of the mini mart and there is a small area to sit the size of a kitchen island. Most people just get these to-go however. I got the carne asada and barbacoa tacos. The meat was good, but a bit too ground for me. The flavor was pretty good, but not as bold as some other street taco places. The size was not very big either, and granted they are only $1.80 each, I expected more. I am sure I will try it again and will hopefully will have a better experience.

Yelp
best mexican food in north texas ngl. got the del sur tacos hella fast and it was great. limited seating tho but ion mind sitting in da car.
