⭐️⭐️⭐️ Drove 168 miles just to experience the famous Barstow Tacos at the original Del Taco location. I ordered the #6 combo (two hard-shell Barstow Tacos with fries and a drink), upgraded to a large drink and fries, and added two Barstow Soft Tacos since I have braces. I was excited to enjoy these tacos with an amazing view of Barstow from the top. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized I had been given four regular soft tacos instead of the Barstow Soft Tacos I specifically ordered. Definitely disappointing after such a long drive. On the bright side, the fries were absolutely delicious—crispy, hot, and perfectly seasoned—though I did burn my mouth in my eagerness to dig in. Overall, the experience was a letdown due to the incorrect order, but the food quality itself was solid. If you make the trip, double-check your order before leaving.

I had to stop by and taste the food here . I've been told by friends that Del Taco in SoCal is better tasting than anywhere else. They might be right 🙂 I had the double Del cheese burger combo, which is pretty normal but really good 👍🏼. I also ordered 2 fish tacos, and they were definitely something else . I never had fast food fish tacos that tasted so good ! They are definitely in my top 5 fish taco list . Too bad I live almost 6 hours away . If you are in this area or passing through and want good food at a fair price , stop by .

Go anywhere else because the color of your skin will determine the service you get at this location. The people at this establishment do not like the color other than pale white. The cashier and cooks kept starting at us like we where animals at the zoo. They where fascinated that we where there. Best thing to do is keep driving to a different location.

This is Del Taco #1. You can get unique items like the Barstow Taco. Worth a stop. Not sure if I would come again as the prices for fast food are just a bit too high.

This is the location to eat at! We stopped in from Vegas back to Cali and it knocked our socks off! The burger had an amazing char, fresh ingredients. The Barstow taco was chefs kiss and huge! Will be back

The original Del Taco, limited time menu offerings, nice classy old timey feel inside. A must visit in Barstow! Great service, shout-out to the team for being friendly and fast!

Currently, the oldest Original Del Taco location is still run by Del Taco. Food representation and taste is average. Nice staff and clean place.

An old school original. The best thing between LA and Vegas. A must stop if you are making a Vegas trip. They use original recipes. I had a Del Beef burrito and I was transported to 1985 when my mom got me my first one like the end of Ratatouille.

One of the remaining restaurants still owned by the original brand owner. Well worth the drive just to say you have been. It is off Main and, if you should get lost, the directions to this Del Taco restaurant is on one of the old buildings in town. I ordered two Barstow Tacos and a Green Burrito. Tacos and burritos are my usual go-to Del Taco orders. The Barstow Taco is huge! The crispy corn tortilla is at least a third bigger than the regular taco and easily double the meat and cheese filling. A slice of fresh tomato also comes with it. The tasty flavor was the same as other Del Taco locations but you can only get the original taco configuration at the Barstow locations. The Green Bean and Cheese Burrito is longer in size like the ones I ate in the 1980s while in high school. It had plenty of cheese and green salsa. I wish they still had the same hot sauces that were available back then as the current ones in the packets don't have the same flavor. The drive-thru has its own dedicated driveway so just go past the one that is the restaurant parking lot entrance. Service is fast and efficient. Go inside the restaurant if you want to look at the murals that are on the walls describing the Del Taco history and timeline. Afterwards, continue on 1st Avenue over the bridge to see the other historic sites in the vicinity like the Harvey House and Railroad Museum.

I only recommend the Barstow Del Taco's because the brand creators still run the 3 in town. This is where you can get the "Bun Taco" and still get the original recipes & quantities. Btw- their hamburgers, shakes, and fries put In n Out to shame. The ambiance is basic burger joint, and always clean. The service is spot on efficient. For a fast food place, this is a SoCal to Vegas Route must-stop.

Decided to try the 1st del taco (Well it isn't technically the first del taco according to the history wall inside) It's very clean and well light. Service was as expected. Food came out fas,t as isn't wasn't busy. Ordered 2 chicken soft tacos & 3 soft tacos with fries These tacos are hefty, filled with meat not just topping and sauce. Fries were fresh and tasted good It's was honestly the best del taco food experience I've ever had.

We decided to stop by on the way home from a road trip. This joint had excellent service! Took time to explain what some items were, and when I decided to order a soft serve, they asked do you want that now or after your meal? So it doesn't melt! Nice touch. It's also very clean, bathrooms are huge (and clean), nice pops of color, and a vintage vibe. Has a nice story wall of how del taco came to be what it is today. Would definitely come back again.

Yup .... Made me sick ! It must be the portion paks that made me get chorros . The sloppy Joe in a bun was not warm at all . Gross

There Chicken Nuggets are Great!!! Lots of very good Hot sause. Lots of Fresh made French Fries nice Cherry Coke. Very Good Service!! Also very Good Selection for Mexican food I live in walking Distance to Del Taco. Also all the Cherry Coke you want to get .

It's the original for a reason. Being the oldest Del Taco location comes with consistency along with a piece of nostalgia serving crunchy beef tacos and fries for 60+ years. I enjoyed this more than expected. The bun taco was a wonderful Mexican sloppy Joe creation that I would eat 2 more of easily. The O.G. Del Taco, you a real one.

Del Taco has three "original" locations in Barstow, California featuring special items not available at the other over 500 locations. The original location was located in Yermo, California and you can visit the Original (no longer a Del Taco) at 38434 E. Yermo Road, Yermo, CA. On this visit I had the Del Taco which offers a tasty shell that is crispier and fresher here. I found the ground beef to taste the same as all of the other Del Tacos. I also had a Spicy Jack Quesadilla. The taste was very good, and the cheese was tasty. If you visit it, go inside. They have a really cool interior. The prices are higher than your local Del Taco, and I don't think you can earn points here for free food. I tried adding my receipt to the app and had no luck getting points. A big bright spot is the staff. Everyone here is middle aged, very friendly, and they all seem very experienced. So, if you're driving in the 15 north, or south, drop in and have a taco, burrito or bun taco.

Love this place, the food is just like authentic Mexican food. Grandma's home cooking!

Our FAVORITE pit stop on the way to Vegas! They have the classic yellow cheese which we can't seem to find anywhere in Orange County. The tacos are packed full and taste very fresh. The staff is always super friendly and provides great service. This location has a lot of history and fun facts to it that make for a cool experience.

We finally made it to the oldest Del Taco! Not sure why it took this long since our fam really likes Del Taco - way better than the other taco chain. Of course, we had to order a Bun Taco and Barstow Taco, their delicious fries, and we also tried their Carnita burrito with beans. This was our first time trying the Bun Taco - it was really good! I especially liked the bun it was on - it had a nice sweetness and it was loaded with meat and cheese plus it had lettuce and tomato. But even though it was tasty, I think I'm a creature of habit and I enjoy the crunchy taco better. So fortunately we also got a Barstow Taco. It was a crunchy taco shell PACKED with taco meat and cheese, lettuce, plus it has a sliced tomato on top rather than the chopped tomato - it was so good!! My hubby and son ordered the Carnita burrito with beans (*you can get it with or without beans) - my husband said that next time he would probably get the burrito without beans - his was a little heavy on the beans - but it was still good. Definitely not too spicy - it had a real good flavor! And KUDOS to this location for having hot and fresh fries! They were perfect! Del Taco already has a good fry, but sometimes we have gotten them lukewarm, which is such a disappointment!! We will definitely be back the next time we're passing by Barstow!

Wow! This place is amazing compared to the one in Orange County. The people working actually seem happy. Also, as you order, their system makes it a combo so that it gets discounted. To give you the best deal. They fill the tacos with so much meat that the lettuce and tomato on top keep falling off the taco. I'm surprise I haven't stopped by here before. If you need gas on the way to Vegas, the gas station on the other side of the bridge is almost $2 cheaper. The one right off the freeway by the outlet is more expensive.

This place is the spot to go to. The tacos here taste so good and they give you a good portion of food. For instance, I ordered a chicken quesadilla, it's loaded with chicken. The Del Tacos with a slice of tomato on top is amazing!

Unfortunately, my experience here was not great. After eating the green burrito and Barstow taco, I started to feel unwell. You know that feeling when something just doesn't sit right? My mouth began to water, which is usually a sign that something's off. Whether it was due to poor handling or the food sitting out too long, it wasn't fresh. On top of that, the cookies were cold, and the bag they gave me was all crumpled. I won't be returning--it's not as good as it used to be. Never again. This location has severely gone down, along with the cleanliness and quality of food

My Chicken Soft Taco was literally thrown together and included refried beans. I tasted very little chicken. I wondered what was wrong with the bean burrito with green sauce I ordered. Well, I was given a salty beef burrito with no sauce at all! Sierra got my order wrong , and it all tasted terrible. Only good thing in this order was the lemonade. Very disappointed in this location today!

I like the bean and cheese burritos I like the nacho cheese I like the milkshakes I like their everything bro no, it's a fire just a slushy way. That's not good bro. I hate this, but I'll give you guys like a five, but can y'all deliver it to me I low-key want some of that. I'll pay you $60.

Stopped by here yesterday and we reminded of how quality food is meant to be made. The cashier working the drive thru was friendly and welcoming. The staff that made our food were on their A Game. Not only were all the items made to perfection, but they were all fresh and full of tasty ingredients. Portions were huge! I wasn't upset that they did not accept the app promos, I get it, not all locations are corporate. I will be back for sure when passing by on my way up or back home from Vegas. Thanks Del Taco for hooking me and my family up with some delicious food!

Bring back the spicy chicken quesadilla, it was the best thing on your menu! I don't get how you took it off the menu.

Had a bean and cheese burrito around 9:20 in the evening. They close at 10 PM. The person taking the order was very nice and efficient but the beans in the burrito were slightly undercooked and the burrito was cold as the cheese didn't even melt. The dining room was Clean with the service trays and trash were in disarray

This is the oldest operating Del Taco. The original Del Taco location is in Yermo, CA but is now a burger place. First time having Del Taco, and we tried the taco, soft taco and tostada. The tacos are huge and filling and it had a slice of tomato instead of chunks. The tostada had refried beans and no meat and was crispy. Their hot sauce packets range from mild to hot. For dessert, we had the soft serve ice cream which was creamy and refreshing. 3.5 stars. It's a good value. I still like Taco Bell a bit better.

Amazing Barstow tacos, i had good friendly service, can't complain! Wish this were the case in all del tacos, feelike Barstow ones are the best

Don't eat this junk. This place is full of crusty and dusty out of the can pork and beans folks. Support real Mexican restaurants not this waste of money. Don't let the charm fool you.

I was ordering food and the owner of the restaurant was sitting at a table conversing what not however the pwner got up went straight in making food grab lettuce with his han d and then when i said something the employee said o thats rhe owner like he get privileges to do such a nasty disgusting thing the owner himself never addressed it i got my money back and walked out i am a cook for a living and it not ok he had just adjusted blinds touching his phone I can only imagine what the other employees do if the owner's doing that

Amazing service and quite frankly the best Del Taco I have ever been to. The food is fresh and the ambiance is pretty neat too. Check out this oldie but goody when you're in town, you won't regret it! Oh and they have the good ICE too, enjoy and stay cool !!!

Great pitstop....this Original is a definite must and don't think I can go back to the locations in Orange County after trying this...too bad the franchise does not follow how the founder runs his restaurants.

Oldest location (referred to as location #1 even tho there was an earier location in Yermo that closed down). A bit off the beaten path, we made it a point to visit this special location. Should you? Well both Barstow locations have a special "Barstow Only" menu and I believe both locations cook their meat fresh. So both are suitable. This location is for the diehards that grew up on Del Taco and have always wanted to make the pilgrimage to #1.. Bun Taco - it was a good foodie experience. Once you've had one you'll probably go back to regular tacos tho. Barstow Tacos - double meat and cheese. More expensive. Very clean bathrooms.

I'm not crazy about del taco but this one Is a friendly place. The food is clean and fast. It's good to get fish tacos the burgers and chocolate cake. A oif chil fries. The fries are ok but the chili isn't so great

This del taco has a mom and pop feel to it, quality is better and the tacos and burritos are LOADED! Little bit of a drive off the freeway but definitely worth it !

Honestly I love Del Taco! Most of the time! My last visit was less than stellar. I Mobile ordered for the store on Lake Mead and Buffalo and when I arrived my order had not even been started. Since I ordered burgers it was about a 10 - 15 minute wait, and then I did not get the two free tacos that I had added to my order from my "rewards"! Wen I returned to get them I was told (AFTER they made them and brought them ti the counter that I would have to pay for one because I can only use one reward per order. A real pain in the butt. Next time I won't bother with the app.

Hands down, this is the best Del Taco. They never skimp on the food and the food is always delicious. Even when it is crowded, they serve fast and the quality doesn't suffer. The other locations need to train at this store and learn the proper way to make Del Tacos.

I am a regular at this particular Del Taco just next to the 18. Never got a bad order always have been greeted with a smile and they are fast. For fast food I recommend this place.

A little off the freeway, but worth it for the history, as it's known as Del Taco #1, though, as usual, it makes me go Del Taco #2. You might be tempted to get the "Barstow" items not found in the chains (Bun Taco, ice cream sundae), but I recommend getting what you normally get (mmm chicken soft taco) for comparison sake because the portions seem bigger and better.

Always stop here for the tacos and green burritos. Service is great, place is always packed. A must try of you like the Del.

Worth the trip or detour as the OG of Del's... this would be a five star if not for the mark up on staple items, the no use of the Del Taco app and the yet to arrive Beyond Meat items located at several other locations throughout Cali and neighboring states. I recently passed through on my way to Vegas and couldn't remember the last time I've been here. While the drive through line was moving fast I decided to park it and actually take in some of the indoor scenery. The lot stays pretty full with both locals and tourist stopping in daily (but even more so on the weekends). The menu seemed smaller than normal and then I realized not every single thing was available.. being a veggie I was hoping for some Beyond Avocado tacos or even the new Beyond Burrito... but I went with a classic 8 layer veggie minus the dairy and a half pound with red sauce (nothing against green)... the quality and portions sizes are above expectation so you get what you pay for in full (I know I'm contradicting myself slightly... Del Taco makes you do crazy things). The service is fairly great and this is probably the cleanest location you'll find anywhere... the bathrooms are even more kept up than the fast food dinning area... and the history on the walls is something to behold. There's plenty of parking on the side and residential streets with two entrances/exits to the inside. Del Taco is kid friendly, but like most this location doesn't have a play area for kids or if it did in the pass has done away with it. Vibrant colors and historical visuals on the wall can probably keep most entertained in between the best D.T. you'll ever enjoy... the tortillas feel like they make them from scratch. All the food is fresh! I do hope they extend their menu to carry a few more vegetarian/vegan items, but I will continue to keep this location on my must stop list even if they never do... best fries you'll ever have!

This Del taco is old and the way the Drive through is set up is stupid ! If you don't want to order or they don't have an item etc you have to back all the way out if your are lucky. If there is someone behind you , you are out of luck you are going to be stuck ! I would go to Lenwood or the Del taco in my view before I go here trust me

Apparently this was the first Del Taco. Well, not this location, as the first Del Taco was somewhere else within Barstow, and moved to this location. Not so much moved as reopened in this location. Well, actually the first Del Taco was in Yermo, but that one closed, so this is the closest to the first Del Taco. It's not on the main street, so you'll need to find it down a side street, which was near a cool old bridge (which was closed when I visited, so you can't drive over it or get near it). They have some menu items specific to this location, including "The Barstow Del Taco". This location is family-owned, and under an operating agreement, they are allowed to create their own menu (which 90% follows the franchised locations menu). I'm not sure how things will change now that Jack In The Box bought the Del Taco chain and company. This restaurant is super clean and has both a parking lot and drive-through. Seems as though they have a lot more drive-thru traffic than sit down at this location.

We were looking for Huell Howser spots and found corporate #1 in Barstow. It appears they renovated the oldest running Del taco. We couldn't tell if it is open so we proceeded to drive thru. This is the oldest running location with unique items to Barstow like the Barstow taco. The cashier was friendly and nice and gave us our food. We parked across the street to eat our taco but no fries so we had to go back to drive thru to pick it up. The cashier gave us medium fries instead of small fries which was nice of him.

Don't eat Chicken soft tacos close to store's closing time (10PM)! My daughter got food poisoning. After her throwing-up 6+ times 2AM-8AM, we're at Urgent Care. The others who didn't eat any chicken are fine.

Great food and service. The lobby is kept at a refreshing temperature, especially after the squelching outdoor temperatures. The food was served quickly, our order was prepared correctly, and tasted scrumptious. There's a reason I gave this business top stars and that's because they're doing it right in Barstow.

Stopped in while wandering Route 66. Usually not a fan of Del Taco, but this place has it! Friendly staff. Pretty quick service. Macho combo burrito is pretty big. Barstow Taco is stuffed with Taco goodness. Solid meal
