Del Taco

As I walked in, the manager or owner was about to leave, he was thanking the staff and saying goodnight to almost all of them I think. So everything aside, that was awesome!! That alone will make me come back and give them another try. Food is not impressive, very small tacos so you’ll need a large fry, yes that have fries, to fill you up. The classic burrito was not great, the grilled chicken burrito was the best thing I tried. Might try their burgers and epic burrito next time. Staff is very very helpful, they’re new and they’ll make some mistakes but give them a break, I’m sure they’ll get better. The place is brand new so it is clean. Will give them another try soon.

Did I just drive 4 hours round trip, on Christmas Eve, from outside Richmond, VA just for Del Taco? Yep. Would I do it again? Definitely! I’m originally from SoCal so when I heard Del Taco was coming to VA Beach…say no more. I hadn’t had Del Taco in YEARS, have eaten there 100s of times, and everything was spot on. Just like I remembered. If you live near VA Beach or have never experienced Del Taco, do yourself a favor and go there. Thank me later. This location is going to rock. I look forward to Del Taco coming to Richmond!! To the Owner Brian: Great job working the kitchen alongside your staff on Christmas Eve. You don’t see that everyday. The place was super clean, staff was great, and the food was delicious. Good luck down there and thanks for the Fiesta Pack for the road 🤙🏻

The crinkle fries were cold and dry when I got them last order so I didn’t bother this time, should’ve listened to the reviews. I’ve picked up my mobile order 4 times in the drive thru since there was a line inside and an empty drive thru every time. I got told to go inside this time, and wait in line for my food that was already done and sitting on the counter. Another 10 minutes before I could get to the counter and ask someone for my order when I could’ve just gotten it handed to me through the window. Best part: The girl who told me to come inside who was at the drive thru window, STANDING AROUND DOING NOTHING! The entire 10-15 minutes I was in the lobby waiting behind the multiple people who were ordering at the kiosk. Order ready at 6:10, maybe even 6:15 to be safe. I got it at 6:30. I get it if there are multiple cars in the drive thru, multiple mobile orders, but mine was the only one sitting in a bag packaged. No cars came through either in the drive thru while I was there and even now as I write this in the parking lot! lol. The only helpful one was the young lady at the counter restocking cups, she went and got it for me immediately and was nice.

12/27/25 10:30am my first time at a Del Taco. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Their fountain drink selection is good with Barq's root beer and Gold Peake tea. I got a grilled chicken burrito and beef queso nachos. I felt the portion sizes match the price and they were not stingy with the beef on the nachos. I enjoyed the queso. Crossing my fingers that this location keeps up the good work down the line as this area is losing a lot of fast food options lately. I hope the company fixes their App because for some reason this location won't show up.

The restaurant location is new, so maybe things will improve, but so far it's been pretty meh. I took off one star because out of four visits I've gotten the correct sauce once, and I took off another star because they don't participate and nationwide Del Taco promotions like Taco Tuesday. Also the door is right near the drive-thru window, with pedestrians exiting the building directly into the path of people leaving the window around a blind corner, which as a new building is a terrible design decision. The food is pretty good though, all things considered.

This was our first time here, and we ordered a bunch of stuff. The tacos were ok, but the ground beef in the Del Taco had no flavor. The fries were too salty. The Beef & Bean Burrito had all the beef on one side and all the beans on the other side. The Caramel Cheesecake Bites were great but had the same issue; all the caramel was on one side and the caramel was way too sweet. We might try it again, but probably not anytime soon.

I am so excited to go to the Del Taco in Virginia Beach that I am writing this partial review in advance. I was born and raised in Southern California move to Virginia 25 years ago I'm now 60. Del Taco represents home to me.. can't wait to try it out and leave a more detailed review. Driving over from Gloucester just to eat there on Saturday. 🤞...UPDATE; you know that old saying "you can't go home again? ".. well that is how I would describe our visit. Though it was not the Del Taco of my youth and young adulthood in California it was good . So they didn't have the two main things that I remember and would like to have had again which were the taco salad and the Dell beef burrito. The service was excellent all the young people were very courteous and on point, the place itself was very very clean. The food was good 100 times better than Taco Bell. Even though it is far from 1980's California Del Taco I loved I will visit when in town.

My Bestie had gotten me Del taco and I just finished eating half of it because I couldn’t even finish due to how gross and dry the food was. The Lemonade was off and tasted way too sweet. The fries were room temp and plan and dry, I had then gotten the Grilled Chicken Wraps 2x and holding the wraps in my hand they were between room temperature and cold…. Very disappointed and I will not be returning.
