Best New Restaurants in Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill Triangle, 2022 | Eater Carolinas

"Fans of the late, lamented Bar Lusconi can rejoice — it’s been resurrected (sort of) by one of the original owners on South Roxboro Street. The new iteration, Delafia, has many of the same vibes — funky wines from small producers, a rapidly changing list, and a gritty, speakeasy vibe. Delafia also has a pretty extensive retail selection, as well as a large patio." - Matt Lardie

Amazing wine bar with fantastic selection of natural wines. Bartender was extremely kind, friendly, and knowledgeable; he made great suggestions to us based on our taste/interests. I tried an orange wine that I have never had before- new favorite wine! We will definitely be back. Good variety and great atmosphere. Thanks!

I absolutely loved my experience at delafia! The vibes of this place just drip cool, and unassuming- I felt like I was back home in Brooklyn coming here! The fascade of the wine bar is hidden so be sure you don't walk by the "barber shop" when you're looking to get in. This bar focuses on natural and biodynamic wines aka my absolute obsession, so I was happier than a pig in mud by the drink selections. The food menu is small, but takes care of business. I recommend a nice tinned fish, giant beans, and the chocolate budino for dessert! The vibes are dark, hip, with an outdoor seating option as well. All in all, a cool destination to check out some fantastic wines.

This is the perfect spot! Great wine. Super friendly and helpful bartender who is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about wine. The snacks are also great especially the giant beans. Don’t sleep on this spot!!!

I'm so happy this bar exists in Durham. There's almost nowhere in this city to sit solo at a bar and get to chat with a friendly, knowledgeable bar staff. The wine isn't grossly overpriced either! Also, the snacks are SO good. Who knew white beans could be so tasty.

What a delightful and special surprise! A few weeks ago, a friend of ours recommended this as “the best wine bar in the triangle… actually maybe in North Carolina”. We had a chance to stop by this afternoon, and we fell in love. Jesse clearly has a love for natural wine and service, and it’s apparent in many aspects of the bar. Thoughtful wine by the glass selections, very tasty and creative snacks, an extensive retail component, and just really cozy vibes. We can’t wait to return, and I can already tell we’ll be regulars.

I couldn’t have felt more welcomed at delafia! Every wine I sampled was interesting, especially this one! Relaxed, approachable atmosphere. Had equally great conversations with the other customers and bartenders. Very knowledgeable staff. I appreciated learning more about natural wine and tried orange wine for the first time! Will definitely be back. Thanks Jesse & Adam!!!!

We are so lucky to have Delafia in Durham, NC. They serve funky wines that you will simply not get to try anywhere else in North Carolina. This one's for the real wineheads, though they have options for everybody!

Yelp
Casual but hip wine bar just south of downtown Durham, Delafia feels like an intimate and hidden gem. Inside this old barber shop is a weathered space and crowd of locals in the know. Short list of wines along with some snacks, enjoy a nice glass of vino and conversation when visiting. Friendly and knowledgeable staff for wine-lovers!

Yelp
We had read about this place and how it was connected to the long-ago establish Bar Lusconi. We decided to pop in on a Friday evening and knew it was a little hard to find. In fact, the Barber Shop signs may fool you but look closer and you'll see smaller signs indicating the bar on the left and shop on the right. Upon entering, you'll notice the dark, speakeasy vibe. We chatted a little with the bartender and followed his recommendations for a rose and a hearty red. We grabbed a small table and also asked for some water. We enjoyed the wines and the secret, underground vibe of the establishment. They also offer some light bites as well. Most of the customers at the tables kept to themselves but others at the bar were meeting each other and chatting. If you ever want to show your friends you know a cool, secret wine bar, take them here.
