Delahunt

"This characterful old Victorian grocer’s shop is mentioned in James Joyce’s ‘Ulysses’ – the clerk’s snug is now a glass-enclosed private dining room. Enjoy an aperitif in the sitting room before dining on flavoursome dishes which take on a modern approach. Service is relaxed yet professional." - Michelin Inspector

My partner and I had a lovely evening at Delahunt. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort. I started with The Cozy Blanket, a cocktail that was well-balanced and flavorful. While my partner had the alc-free house-infused Gin and Tonic, which was so refreshing. The small bites, especially the Gorgonzola on brown bread, were delicious and paired nicely with the drinks. The staff was attentive and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back soon. Thank you for such a lovely evening!

Google
Delightful experience dining at Delahunt this evening! The duck entree was incredible (5 ways if I’m not mistaken) , service was on point, and cocktails delicious to boot!

We came here to celebrate the graduation of two close friends. The atmosphere is very nice; the place is quite fancy. The food was good, very carefully assembled and well-executed. The service was not particularly amazing, though, and I found the menu a bit overpriced.

Google
Amazing restaurant for a very special occasion. The prices for the 8 course menu are high, but the food, experience and service were excellent. Also the wine advice was great, especially the matching French red wine for the Lamb meat. I would definitely consider visiting again when in Dublin.

Google
This was our second tasting menu we had tried while visiting Ireland and this experience was amazing. The waiter constantly checked on us and went upstairs to reserve us a table in the upstairs speakeasy following dinner. The food here is spectacular with almost perfection when it comes to flavor.

Google
Not been here for a couple of years and my last experience not the best. However this time Im happy to say it was one of the best experiences in a long time. A warm welcome and lovely table in the window set us on the right path. So nice to have an a la carte menu as I am fed up with tasting. Great wine selection, food and top notch service. A buzz in the place helped along by a great music selection. Well done

Google
Have been going to Delahunt since it opened and have been many times before moving away and always had a very good experience. Revisited first time in 3 years and I am delighted to say that it is still fantastic. The menu is short, which means everything is fresh, with something for everyone. Quality and cooking skill is still high-level. Only complaint I have is, we had a cocktail before dinner upstairs in the wonderful lounge, once of the best cocktail rooms in Dublin but we felt that the cocktails were too small for the price.....finished in 3 sips!! Overall highly recommend Delahunt.

Yelp
This is one of the best cocktail bars I've been to! We came here on a Wednesday night and were absolutely enamored! The ambience is so incredible- it's cozy while being very upscale! We had the entire bar to ourselves which was also quite interesting and nice! The cocktails were pretty unique! I really enjoyed the berry cocktail! The service was great! I really liked our bar tender, she was friendly!

Yelp
I loved everything I had. Great wine selection too homemade sourdough with garlic butter is die for. Friendly service totally recommended!

Yelp
I think 'shabby chic' is a good all round description of Delahunt. From the faded comfort of the upstairs cocktail bar to the down at heel feel of the main dining area, there is a sense of a premises badly in need of a facelift. That said, the food is excellent. Last time we were here there was a tasting menu which was simply sublime. This has now been replaced by a price fixe menu with two choices of starter, main course and dessert. My choice of quail and pork were both very tasty but the portions on both were laughably minuscule. Frankly, I was still hungry when I left. The wine list is extensive but I struggled to find anything below €50 and, since there were four of us, we spent well over €100 on two bottles of wine and that's simply unacceptable. It was a special occasion and t;he birthday girl was impressed but my credit card was not. I may be back but I'll factor in a trip to McDonald's afterwards for additional sustenance.

Yelp
This restaurant came highly recommended so we gave it a go. Wonderful, cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed the tasting menu and the Agnolotti was my favorite.
google avatar

Tom D.

Yelp
Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. A great deal of care was given for each plate. Creative, yet direct menu each with a pleasant surprise. I'd recommend. Only improvement might be the music. (We might have been there on "hits of the 80's night ;-) )
google avatar

Yelp
Did the tasting menu. It was delicious and surprisingly more filling than expected. The staff are very attentive and make it an experience for you. Building used to be an old post office which they maintained some of the structure. Very cool.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
Exceptional tasting menu at the price. The building itself brings so much charm to the experience, with a secret bar upstairs, it's a full experience. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. The 5 course meal was just so good ( really more like 7 courses if you include the snack course & bread course). We absolutely loved almost every dish. Some highlights were the casear salad, corn pasta, and the coconut dessert. Only complaint was that they didn't have more drink options in the restaurant and we had one course that was just ok. All in all though it was really a great experience and amazing food. Would recommend to anyone visiting Dublin, it is worth the visit, you'll be so glad you went.

Rachel B.

Yelp
This was an amazing tasting menu - so worth it! The service was incredible and the building was beautiful. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Dublin.
google avatar

Jj C.

Yelp
Tasting menu was incredible. Really enjoyed the evening. The seating arrangement in the restaurant also provided nice privacy. Friendly staff and not too formal. I would rate the food here as up with most Michelin starred restaurants in Dublin. And at €80 for the tasting menu it is much more reasonable. 5 stars.

Yelp
What a great evening, the final meal of our vacation. We did the 3 course option. Appetisers were spot on. The octopus was perfectly cooked. Mains, I had the market fish and my Son had the steak. Fish was amazing and the beef had amazing flavour but slightly undercooked for my sons taste. Deserts did not disappoint and the suggested wine were a great accompaniment. Thank you for a perfect ending to our vacation

Yelp
Hospitality: exceptional. Ambiance: clever, warm & fun. Food presentation w/numerous courses: spectacular!!!! Food: beautiful & DELICIOUS!! Thank you for an overall fun time with a wonderful drinks, dinner and dessert!! Everyone was charming!

Yelp
Wow, superb! Delahunt was everything I expected and more. Each course was better than the last! It's a tiny restaurant, so reservations are a must. But, despite the lack of space, the ambiance is fantastic! Very romantic and the old fixtures/decor make you feel like you're transported to another time. I can absolutely see why Delahunt has the Michelin recommendation. I would love to come back!
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
Absolutely 100% stoked on this experience. It's the first Michelin restaurant I've ever attended in my life and it was so perfect. The food was so thoughtful. Their cocktail menu is small, but that's probably better so they can focus on quality. I particularly enjoyed the tartare with the additional and unique meats. I definitely recommend Delahunt if you're looking for an excellent dining experience. Not much more to say!
google avatar

Margaret C.

Yelp
The menu reads like a good book! Smaller sized portions but beautifully plated and delicious. Ham hock terrine and blowtorched salmon were wonderful! Mallard and Sirloin were very good as well. Service is attentive and friendly. Happy we came but we may need to grab some crisps or even a sandwich on the way back to the hotel.

Yelp
Very enjoyable meal here the other weekend! The space is cozy and equipped with a very cool bar. J and I had dinner on a Saturday and helped ourselves to our own starters, mains and desserts. The starters were slightly average but the mains and desserts were really nice. To start I had the tomato salad and J had the poached duck egg with greens. Might try different starters next time. After that I had the cod with veggies and J had lamb. Both were really flavourful and well portioned. To finish I had the lemon meringue and J had the dark chocolate tart. Both of them were unique and left us with a strong desire to book a return visit. Good wine list and they accept online reservations. Will return!

Yelp
The food was faultless It now has a Michelin bib and I can see why I love the feel of the restaurant as it's reminiscent of 1920s not that I am that old. Excellent wine list by glass and we'll priced by bottle. The beef cheek special was so well cooked that it almost melted on my plate and my deer starter was perfect. Our waiter wasn't the best sadly and if he was on top of his game it would have been a 5. He spilled water and never noticed so called him back to wipe up. He seldom topped water up after that as he was clearly scared. Nice champagne to start. Nice wine and good desert and desert wine. A 4 might be picky but service played a big part when your at this end of the spectrum. I did notice the other staff and they were much more fluid and far more pleasant. The Guinness bread is addictive so be warned. All said I will one back and bring along others.

Yelp
We came here for dinner on NYE. So walking in here is a little like stepping back in time. That's hardly surprising considering its housed in an old Victorian building. There, however, is nothing old fashioned about their food!!! Great selection of wine by bottle and glass. They're not badly priced either. We had the French cremant to start. They brought out bread which included an extremely addictive Guinness bread. For my starter I chose the smoked salmon which came with more Guinness bread and pickled cucumber. Delicious. I also tried some of the Sika deer carpaccio and the toast with bone marrow. Onto main course. I chose the pheasant which came with parsnip, sprouts and white pudding. I gave my sprouts away lol but the rest was absolutely fantastic!!! Dessert is almost always my favourite part of a meal. I went for the chocolate fondant which comes with an incredible salt caramel ice-cream and a praline. The food was outstanding. The only reasons for this not being a five star review are: The service was OK but our main waiter wasn't great. He spilled water on the table when he was pouring it out and had to be asked on his way back to mop it up as he just walked away! I didn't particularly like our table. I had the bad luck that the table behind me were a tad obnoxious and kept banging my chair as they walked to get to their seats. They were entirely unapologetic. I know you can't account for other customers but unfortunately the same thing happened when some of the staff were trying to get by to serve the table. I think I just would have preferred to have had a table at the side. Just a personal preference. With all that being said I would certainly recommend this place to everyone and will definitely try to visit again! What a great way to finish off 2015! They truly deserve their Michelin Bib.

Yelp
Went along to Delahunt for a Christmas lunch with the work crew. We were surprised that when we turned up at 2pm that it was very very quiet - I had assumed the place would be crazy, but it seems that not that many people are aware of this little hideaway - all the better as far as I'm concerned, we can have it all to ourselves! Really really loved it. The decor is really special. They've kept a lot of the wood fittings from the original place by the looks of things which gives it all a sense of time, and history, but then they've added some really nice touches like contemporary prints and luxurious place settings to really up the ante. The food was superb. Excellent value at 22 euro for two courses. Really beautifully presented and the combination of flavours was excellent. I got the pear and blue cheese salad for starter and the potato cake, with hen's egg, kale & capers for main. I would say, like some reviewers before me that the portions definitely are pretty small. You do need to get some sides with it unless you aren't hungry at all. The service was attentive but not overly so, and very knowledgable about the food and wines. Winner all round, will definitely be back.

Yelp
What a fabulous comfortable experience. Delahunt is an elegantly casual restaurant with the feel of a cozy bar. And indeed it does have a bar as well. The food was outstanding. We had the grilled Wye Valley Asparagus in hollandaise sauce with slow cooked egg and the Smoked Salmon followed by The market fish poached in shellfish stock and the salt aged sirloin of lamb that was so perfectly cooked to be tender, juicy and well flavored. The pressed potato with Connemara lamb was amazing. Paper thin slices of potato were layered with also paper thin slices of air dried Connemara lamb showcased some serious skills of the chef. It was an amazing side that well matched the quality of the rest of the meal. At the waiters suggestion we had a really nice, well bodied Pinot Noir from Germany that bridged the lamb and the fish quite nicely. The next time we are back in Dublin, we will be back at Delahunt.

Yelp
Greatest restaurant in Dublin so far. Hake for main course was so soft and carefully cooked that it almost fell apart just by lookIng at it. Went for team dinner - and yes I picked the place after hearing fantastic experiences from here. It turned out to be all true. Had the group menu which is a mix of starters and then main + dessert. Starters included salmon, goat cheese salad, and pigs ears. First time I'm eating pigs ear and truly enjoying every bite - without at first realising what it was.. I knew it was delicious, and that was it. For dessert, I tried the blood grape tarte with mascarpone cream. At this point though I was so full I could have been without. But instead i also tried some of the warm chocolate cake with ice cream from my friend - and that bite turned out to be life changing. Omg. It might have been the greatest chocolate cakes in Dublins history. The ambience super cool but slightly loud. Very cozy though. Will be back sooner than later, and I can't wait.

Yelp
The food is epic, but dear god SORT OUT YOUR SERVICE!!!!!! If a bill hits over 1k for a table, don't have waitresses who have been unpleasant all evening suddenly light up when they see their mandatory 12 1/2% show up. If they just ditched their staff and hired pleasant efficient people it would get a 5* all day long, but I just cant handle inefficiency and disinterest bordering on rudeness.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to Delahunt on our last day in Ireland. It was definitely a treat. While a bit pricey for what I'm used to, the food was delicious. We chose the 2 course meal. I started with the Shredded ham hock , roast cabbage, confit egg yolk, smoked broth. It was so good. The ham added a bit of saltiness, which was delicious. My partner had the Homemade ricotta, Irish radish, lovage, which he really enjoyed. We also received complimentary bread and butter. One was a sourdough and the other was a brown bread with Guinness and treacle. When I asked the server what was in it, he offered more bread, which I gladly accepted. The server also helped me select a white wine that would compliment my meal, which paired perfectly! For my main course, I had the Pan roasted free range chicken breast, white beans, chorizo, truffle, chanterelles and chestnut. It was amazing. The white beans added some texture since they were cooked al dente. There was so much flavor to this dish. My boyfriend liked it more than what he had (which was the beef cheek). We opted to not have the dessert, although everything looked tempting. Overall, great experience, and I would highly recommend.

Yelp
Simply awesome! Took clients here and had an amazing time. Did the three course meal - all 7 of us loved everything we ordered. Service was great, wine was too. Beautiful decor. A+!

Yelp
Just found this place yesterday, and youll pardon if I gush, but the food atmosphere and service are fantastic. A good old style Victorian pub, which thankfully the owners/occupiers had the good sense not to rip out but instead embellish beautifully with a simple modern lighting and subtle fixtures to create a comfortable darkness. The staff are pleasant and efficient. The food-well I dont think I could do it justice. All I'll say it is one of the best examples of proper modern Irish cuisine Ive had the last 5 years. Good traditional dishes of a vanished Dublin, ox tongue, beef rump, smoked salmon to start, lambs, fish and chicken but unlike other places which take a good food source and a decent menu and turn it into an overly heavy stodgy slop, this is perfectly and lightly cooked with appropriate accompaniments.Like Le Bon Crubeen this is the best of Irish, one of those meals that makes you feel proud of your country. Please recommend to all visiting foreigners if you want to show this city at its best. Decent, refreshing cocktails too. Only actual downside I would say is I couldnt find a good, decently priced red wine to go with it. Cost wise, it isnt cheap, indeed on Fridays its more expensive, which is a pity cus if I could I would eat here every day. But it is most definitely a wonderful treat and ye know what-treat yo self!!
google avatar

Yelp
Went there for a Sunday brunch hoping to give a good treat to my friend Final result was an ok food with the worst service, the waiters was not pleasant at all and a bit snappy on the manner, food came average and I got my toast almost at the end of my meal and I have to ask twice butter was not include so i have to ask for it to , another friend join us but despite the empty place no one look after her and we had to get fork glass and the rest ourself and the menu as well, very nice the place but I will suggest to be more welcoming and review the menu ...for a brunch in Camden street you can get much better
google avatar

Frank E.

Yelp
Fabulous in every way, from the upstairs sitting room for drinks before dinner to the delicious creative food and attentive friendly service. The ambiance adds to the culinary experience. Had the salmon as a starter and the lamb for main course. A must visit for anyone who enjoys great food served and presented with flair and style.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best restaurants in Dublin, and one of the most memorable restaurants I've been, period. Every staff member was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the food was outstanding and fresh. The cheddar cauliflower soup was perfect and the beet root salad with goat cheese was also as good as it gets. Everything else was top-notch from the desserts, to the fresh bread and salty butter brought to the table. Can't wait to hit this place again next time I'm in Dublin.

Yelp
I totally agree with Emily and Linn. Along with Etto and Forest Avenue, this is my favourite restaurant in Dublin. We will go back again and again and again. It was that good. I called at 5 pm on a Thursday and get a table for 8 pm. I don't think that will be happening much longer, once everybody finds out about this place. It's lovely inside - we sat towards the back beneath two framed jung koch quentell botanical posters - and the service is friendly and relaxed. There was a (very) long gap between our starters and our mains, but once dinner arrived, that was quickly forgotten. To start, we had: WHITEBAIT - vey tasty Rouille SALAD OF DATTERINO TOMATO - a kind of re-imagined insalata tricolore Broad bean and buffalo mozzarella, fried bread and aged balsamic For dinner, we had: GUINEA FOWL - divine Roast breast and crisp leg, potato cake with Morteau sausage, pea, baby gem and buttermilk POTATO DUMPLINGS - sublime Summer vegetable, pea broth, Fivemiltown goats cheese BABY GEM, ANCHOVY AND PARMESAN DRESSING For dessert: CHERRY AND ALMOND CAKE - excellent Amaretto ice-cream The dumplings were... I'm not even sure how I could begin to describe them, other than that it was one of the most perfect plates of food I've ever eaten. And beautifully plated. Well done, Delahunt.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. I was happy to have food so carefully prepared, healthy and fresh. The dishes were inventive, each one was something I hadn't tried before, there was a twist to what others have done.

Yelp
Was on a layover for a night and a friend from Dublin suggested Delahunt. She was right, it is lovely. Very friendly and accommodating right from the start. Two of us were meeting friends that were already in Dublin on vacation. They let me pick the restaurant. We all couldn't stop talking about the food and service. We each had an App, Beef Tartar for me and it was delicious and fresh. Two Cod, one Lamb and one Wild Garlic and Goats Cheese Dumplings. It was like farm/garden to table. Flavors were beautiful. Lovely cheese board to finish.....ok, that's not completely true. After a couple bottles of wine, it's only fitting to finish with a cocktail. Four Old Fashioned and it was a complete dinner. The cocktails were served with a glass of ice and a flask on the side. Very cool idea. Great night and was top notch. p.s. I sent a couple from NYC to eat there and they did. They loved it.

Yelp
Omg what a find was there with party of 11 and I have to say the food was extremely good. Love the vibe of place really relaxed yet buzzing couldn't recommend enough. Can't wait to go back. Good was very reasonably priced for city centre and there craft beers were Delish.

Yelp
Charming atmosphere. Good playlist. Food was outstanding. I appreciate brevity, but apparently Yelp does not, so I'll add this sentence to see if this review is accepted.

Chrystie B.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner here the night before Harry and Meghan's visit! The Guinness bread is amazing. Everything others have noted and more! I had the smoked salmon starter which was fabulous, others had the burrata and tomato salad and the tartare of beef which were also greatly enjoyed. My entree of roasted hake was really really delicious, an incredible combination of ingredients and flavors ...the pork belly was also good but the gnocchi entree was not as well enjoyed...heavier than expected. My lemon line posset dessert was fabulous...light, but intense flavor ...still thinking about it. The sundaes were also enjoyed. Highly recommend this restaurant...really a quality, delicious meal.

Yelp
I'm on a roll with these five stars right now, but I can't think of a trendy upscale casual restaurant in Dublin that deserves it more than Delahunt. Everything about this place is amazing!!! I can't even remember how I stumbled across it online - but I'm so glad I did. Firstly, the design. Faultless. The restored building, glass, gold, shabby chic, glowing bar -- it's quite simply a beautiful place and you won't be able to tear your eyes away from the attention to every detail. Second, the service. Wonderful service, suggestions and pace. I still remember the bourbon chai and gulped down during our first course of a perfectly poached egg and asparagus. Our mains - the guinea fowl and lamb - were plated gorgeously and accompanied by two glasses of Pinot noir recommended by our waitress. Dessert was coffee with real cream (ahhh) and a salted caramel tart that blew me away. Not too expensive, full of ambiance and delivering on high quality food and drink: quite frankly a perfect place to visit with a few friends or a special date. Go!!!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
From the moment we stepped off the street into the restaurant we had a faultless experience. That's really the only way to describe it. The decor and staff were enough to win us over, and then the meal arrived... It was the nicest meal I've had in a very long time, everything on the plate was well thought out and delicious. And the desserts were perfection! Highly recommend this place, we'll be back and then back again!

Yelp
Food was incredible. Had a 3 course with a shared desert between 2. Food was really well balanced between courses and everything worked. This guy is aiming for a Michelin star and should get it. The wine list is good, the menus are short and selective and just what is called for. The cocktails upstairs are really good and again a selective not extensive list. And to top it off, even the coffee is some of the best coffee I have ever tasted in Ireland- for sure and I know my coffee. I have eaten in a lot of great places in Ireland but this is special. I was in this place when it was an off license and they had the bar that is over 100years old. Was such as waste of great history. Glad to see the entire building put back into appreciative hands and use. €120 two people, 3 course and a bottle of wine. 100% Will be back. Get in there before the secret is out

Trish M.

Yelp
Great spot, come early and have a cocktail upstairs to start your night. The night we were there they had a special potato soup that was out of this world. We then went on to have gnocchi, which in hindsight was way too much potato for one meal but it was DELICIOUS!
google avatar

Blaine D.

Yelp
Can't speak for the food, but last week I had a great experience at the cocktail bar upstairs at Delahunt. After walking through a small side door and up a flight of stairs, I wasn't sure what to expect. The upstairs is impossibly cool, sophisticated, and relaxed. It wasn't busy so we shared the area with only one or two other groups, although that certainly didn't mean it was lacking in atmosphere. Cocktails were original, beautiful, delicious, and reasonably priced. They also serve a wide range of whiskeys. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Rachel F.

Yelp
Love the decor. Food is delicious but I thought the portions were very modest for the price. We enjoyed ourselves but weren't blown away. Worth a visit if you're in the market for a fancy meal out.

Paul L.

Yelp
Incredible food. Really world class, beautifully presented and delicious. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and makes for a nice atmosphere. The staff while friendly, do rush you. I went for an early sitting (6pm) with friends. From the moment you get in they're talking about when you need to leave and there's a rushed pace at each interaction before being reminded you'll be under pressure to order dessert. This put a dampener on an otherwise stellar restaurant experience. I would go back to a later sitting, they may be less stressed then, who knows.

Kim C.

Yelp
The food was wonderful and the server was lovely. The fresh fish was perfectly cooked. The plates were artfully displayed. We were seated next to the window in the glaring sun with no shade, isolated in a separate small cube away from the main seating room, where all passerbys could see us eating. This cubby was also behind the counter. We would have preferred to be in the main area. We felt the price was a bit high for the value, at least for our experience.

Yelp
I have been hearing a lot about this place. I used to live nearby and I loved to pop in when it was Carvills off licence and get a bottle of wine. They have done a great job inside. We were booked in at 6.00 which is when they open. We were only 2 people and they gave us the window table which is a lovely table. The menu is fairly small- four starters, four mains, fours desserts, four cocktails and a short wine list. I thought the menu a little restricted as two of the mains were game- venison and pheasant- with the other two comprising fish and vegetarian. We opted for a Picpoul de Pinet which was reasonably priced at €30. We chose smoked salmon with guinness bread- all delicious and pear and celeriac soup which was equally good. We both went with the hake option and it was also excellent. we shared two sides of glazed carrots and champ which were tasty. I chose the blood orange tart which was fantastic along with a great espresso. My pal had the trifle which she loved. Our server was a lovely American woman who was very helpful and chatty. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly. The place isnt huge but it filled up by 7.00- not bad on a Wednesday night! Overall I would say we had a great evening and the food was lovely. I am rating it 4 instead of 5 stars as I did feel it was quite pricey for what we had. We paid €127 for three courses with a bottle of wine excluding tip. I would certainly recommend Delahunt for a visit if you want to treat yourself.

David R.

Yelp
Warm and welcoming. Sat at bar for solo dinner. Bartender knowledgeable and patient. Solid wine list with some very good values which he recommended. Whitebait then guinea fowl and cheese as a savory. Exactly what I wanted. If I lived nearby would be a regular place for me.

Emily L.

Yelp
We came here when we were visiting Ireland for the first time. Delahunt has great ambiance and decor. It felt like your were dining in a lush speakeasy. The food was consistently great as were the mixed drinks.

Aiden C.

Yelp
Visited here for dinner on Sat 14/12/2014. Situtated in an old bar/off license the owners have retained the old bar counter and Victorian fittings to create a lovely old syle space filled with warmth and light. On arrival a basket of home made bread was presented by our American waitress who was both friendly and professional. We started with bar snacks as opposed to starters, and shared some mini fish cakes and a more unusual breaded pigs ear strips, both of which were delicious. The wine list is short but offers good value , we settled on a bottle of cote du rhone to share. For mains I had the guinea foul which was delicous, while my partner had the beef cheeks braised in beer, this was judged to be the winner, the meat succelent and falling apart. After a second bottle of wine we also shared a rhubarf fool to finish what was a most enjoyable meal. There appeared to be far too many staff both in the kitchen and on the floor for the numbers in the restaurant, however there is some serious cooking going on here and the staff have obviously been trained to a high standard. My only negative would be the lighting in the restaurant was very bright making the candles on the tables hardly noticeable, a minor qiibble given the lovely food we had enjoyed all night. Overall a great addition to the Dublin restaurant scene and I am already planning my return to celebrate an upcoming birthday, Highly Recommended

Yelp
Really excellent food, great service, but mains portions are very small. The soup was the highlight of the starters, absolutely delicious, I cant wait to go back to order. I ordered badly as I was tempted by one of the 'bar bites' - the pickled vegetables - which were marinated in turmeric, I'm afraid I got no taste of that marination at all, so it was disappointing for me. The others both had the salmon and declared same delicious also. Mains were a bit of a shock size wise, beautifully presented but really small portions - I went for the Boxty, and while everything on my plate was fantastic I really considered it a starter portion. We had ordered only 2 sides between 4, and as the plates arrived we all agreed we had under ordered - we asked how long some more would take, but because same are prepared to order we were too late to order more - I strongly recommend a minimum of 1 side per person. The beef, cows cheek, was amazing, so tender and tasty. The Hake was replaced by Cod at our visit, again declared perfect but small portion. Desserts are simply perfect - no other word for them. We tried all 3 - the chocolate pot was just amazing, hot from the oven with melted chocolate inside, hazelnuts and ice cream on top, I'd go back for that alone. The Lemon posset topped with berries and what we thought was a liquor simply fab, and the Rhubarb dessert well, just wow, we left no trace of any. The food here is so very, very good, complimented by excellent service which was never intrusive. A great night, and we will certainly be returning.
