I'm so glad I was able to stop here on my way back to Maryland at the end of my spring break road trip, having formerly working in pharmacy, this was such a cute historic place to visit. I figured out what part of Poland I was in! It was Bolesławiec, Poland.

Awesome little sweet shop. Milk shakes are great. Walking into the place and it was like stepping back in time 60+ years.

The Coffee Cabinet is delicious! Highly recommended.

I'm originally from Michigan and literally thought this was a furniture store because of the sign. Once I figured out a cabinet is a milkshake/frappe I brought my daughter there. It's run by the nicest guy and the cabinets are amazing. Feels like stepping back in time. Fun to do on a Saturday while visiting the area.

Great childhood memories. I used to go more often but not I only stop by once in a blue moon for a cabinet. The place is super cool and the cabinets (milkshakes for the out of townies) are great.

Google
First time going, there coffee cabinet is to die for obviously! The store was soo cool, I felt like I stepped out of 2018 and stepped into the 1950s! Coolest shop ever!!

When I was a student at Warren High School, Delekta's was always the place to stop. 2 coffee cabinets, one for there and one for the ride home. Also, conveniently located near the library where I would attend D&D weekends with my friends.

Google
My dear Grandfather, Ignatius Delekta owned the pharmacy.my mom, Kathleen Delekta Lowney and my uncle Ignatius Delekta Jr. Were his pharmacist. I grew up there and worked there for years.God bless them in Heaven.my cousins continue to run the place . Stop in and check it out! have something from the oldest soda fountain in Warren RI.tell them that Sean sent you.Enjoy 🇱🇷

Yelp
The inside of the place is a little confusing and dated, but we went there just to show an out of towner what a cabinet was. There were multiple flavors to choose from. I got the mint chocolate chip and it was delicious. A thinner consistency than a shake.

Yelp
Oh yes I've been to this old fashion soda shop! I brought my three grandkids to have a true experience. Coffee milkshakes is a favorite of a ours for sure! Plus they have old fashion penny candy for cents ( lol) I love that even though the pharmacy is no longer they keep the nostalgic touch. Neighborhood safe place to chat with the owners and enjoy a drink made like the past. Next I'd like to try the Vanilla Coke that I see othered rave about.

Yelp
My first time trying a coffee cabinet! It was delicious, like a melted down coffee milkshake. The service was quick and friendly. There were some unique candy pieces at the bar for purchases as well as a little gift shop in the back. The prices were also super reasonable for everything but the coffee cabinet...I saw soda, ice cream, and milkshakes for under $4! The cabinet was $4.50 though.

Yelp
Autocrat coffee syrup, coffee ice cream, 1/2 pint 3% cold homogenized milk, and perhaps a pinch of vanilla powder in a Hamilton Beach blender for 35 seconds may or may not be the Delekta Pharmacy Coffee Cabinet Secret Formula, but it's the best I can do back home in California since our last visit to this venerable Warren, Rhode Island establishment in 1993, just before the State Legislature there made "Coffee Milk" the Official State Drink of Rhode Island. "Heavenly" was the word coming to mind as the magical elixir made its way among my taste buds and beyond. To have but one more coffee cabinet, and no "brain freeze" would be the only compelling reason to ever return to Rhode Island, but this is exactly that one place to go.

Yelp
Was talking to some gentlemen at Amarals fish n chips and they mentioned this place ! So here we are!! It's a little old style soda fountain shoppe. We were to order a Coffee cabinet .. okay we said so we ordered two for here! Served in a small coke glass with the silver mixer container for spare! Omg it was delicious. This was our first time. So the way he explained it was they make their own coffee syrup. The drink itself is mixed with ice cream and coffee syrup with milk and blended down almost to milk again. It had a few ice cream chunks in it. Other flavors were vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and chocolate chip. It was very refreshing after fish.

Yelp
Great stop for a coffee cabinet. Also note that the milkshake is milk and syrup...no ice cream so I got ice cream for the girls. The coffee cabinet is close to a Vietnamese iced coffee. If your in town you should stop for a cabinet for your drive back to Newport. Street parking. Maybe because it's off season ...it was really quiet.

Yelp
Where else can you get a vanilla milkshake, seven swizzle sticks, a candy bracelet, a Twizzler, and Smarties for under $5? Nowhere else! Such a cool place for my daughter and I to hang out while daddy is record shopping down the street.

Yelp
Teleport back to a time when a trip to the pharmacy soda fountain was a family tradition. A must stop for nostalgia enthusiasts. Eric, the store owner and operator, made us feel warm and welcome. BEST coffee cabinet... hands down! Highly recommended!!!

Mandy D.

Yelp
Maybe I'm a little biased because I lived down the block from here when I was a little tyke. Nowadays if I drive by and they're open, I can't help but pull over and stop in. I can't for the life of me find a coffee cabinet like theirs anywhere else. They use their own coffee syrup and have some sort of "secret recipe," according to my dad. They have vanilla and chocolate cabinets as well and they're good, but the coffee is my favorite by far because they're rare to come by. They also still have their old soda fountain so you can get a REAL vanilla coke. Or they'll pretty much mix whatever you ask for, even if you want a squirt of everything (totally gross, but whatever floats your boat dude). This place is also an old school pharmacy, gift shop, and kind of a general store. You can still get penny candy here, although it's 5 cents now. If you can't find parking on the street near here, there's a giant municipal parking area less than a block away. A lot of the friendly faces I used to see here have passed on, but hopefully their legacy continues to live through this little corner store.

Yelp
Thought Delekta was only open 3 days a week per their old FB page, delighted to see their signage suggesting otherwise on the East Bay Bike Path! Famous for a reason - such quaint delightful items like layered 3D embossed/enameled cards (not just vulgar pop up), nostalgic candies for nostalgic prices, lovely puzzles and games, tasty treats - and of course the piece de resistance, cabinets. My hubby and I shared a coffee one of course, which was nice and rich and strong; and we also shared an orange creamsicle cabinet which had intense vanilla with just the right touch of orange without being too sweet or fruity. The owner was such a delight to talk with too, willing to share about their 150 year history and his travels in the most beguiling fashion. As a bonus, we were biking and puzzling over what to do with our lockless bikes, and he generously let us store inside while we browsed!

Yelp
This was a pilgrimage for me. There just aren't soda fountains around anymore. And would a rose by any other name be just as sweet? Maybe not - because a cabinet is definitely something special.

Mark A.

Yelp
This was a decades old pharmacy that is no longer fill prescriptions, but is still selling the best coffee cabinets anywhere! Eric Delekta is a great guy who still runs the business and you can see him or Bob everytime you go by. The also sell a wide variety of locally made products like Buppy Pets dog treats, Paul Bullock's Zippy Sauce, and Butch Lombardi's locally photographed postcards.

Beatriz L.

Yelp
Don't let the name fool you! This place has the best shakes and cabinets in Rhode Island- if you have never been here you are missing out !

Nicole K.

Yelp
This place is a little strange. An old-school pharmacy + ice cream shop + candy store. The Chocolate Chip flavored ice cream was pretty good; $3.25. Good until I found out it's Hood ice cream. Disappointment. Thought I was buying a locally made product...

Hilary H.

Yelp
Ok, so Delekta has a real soda fountain that's still in use and it's super cool that the interior dates back to the 1800's, but everything else in here? It looks like it's been there longer then I have been on this planet, and that's sayin' something. I popped in one day whilst perusing the little stretch of Warren where this place lives, and aside from the real fountain still being used, I was not impressed at all with what was happening. In fact, I wasn't even greeted or acknowledged by the woman behind the counter, and it's a teensy little space so I know she saw me (and heard me enter through the bell-rigged door). The place is full of kitschy items for sale along with bathroom essentials and greeting cards. There's a window towards the back where I assume they actually dispense prescriptions, but I saw no one in there resembling a pharmacist so I can't be sure of what the deal is. I'm don't patronize Delekta's regularly, so I could be missing something, but as a passer-by who popped in expecting a cute, old-timey pharmacy, I was definitely disappointed.

Yelp
Delekta is the last of its kind. A family owned pharmacy/soda fountain shop. You can actually get a real vanilla coke here, and by real I mean they actually squirt coke and vanilla syrup into a cup , fill with ice and fizzy water and stir it up. It is delicious. You can get regular cokes, Chocolate cokes, and I think other flavors (I usually just get the vanilla cokes). They have won a number of awards for their wonderful coffee cabinets. You can get everything to go or get an old style glass, with two straws of course, and have it in one of their tiny 2 person booths. Also, penny (actually a nickel nowadays) candy. This is not some hipster run, trendy, recreation of a fountain shop, it is the real deal. As close to going back to the 1950's as you can get.

Yelp
Uber cool. So why 5 star? Because I defy you to fins me another real soda fountain with a real soda jerk still inside of a Pharmacy anywhere. If you cant, this is truly as good as it gets. So while we were there, folks were picking up prescriptions and others, like us, were ordering from the soda fountain. We were education on Milk Shake v. Cabinet. For them, the milk shake is simply milk and flavoring. I am guessing that is the correct definition. I am not sure when the ice cream was added, but that would be the cabinet. Of course if you go to any burger joint today and order a milk shake, you get the ice cream version. So enough of that. The Coffee Cabinet is the must have feature item. The coffee syrup is homemade, it is real ice cream, hand scooped and all blended with fresh milk. It is blended for a really long long time that gives it a fantastic smooth texture. You can ask for it thicker if you want, but I suggest going authentic. While you are there, cough up the .90 cents for a small vanilla or cherry coke. Still pulled the old fashion way. Squirt of coke syrup, squirt of vanilla, soda water, stir and serve. Coke from its humble beginnings. Quick history for you folks. Coke, the company, actually only produces the syrups. It is the Bottling Companies, usually independent, that mix it all together. That is why things can taste different from location to location. Water, type of sweeter...

Yelp
This place is a must for Rhode Island history/food buffs. It's been around since the mid-nineteenth century, and still looks much the same as it did then, except much more run down (outside looks much nicer than the inside). There are some cool old pharmacy bottles and other antique stuff on the dark wooden shelves inside, but also tacky stuffed animals that kind of ruin the mood. I think if the owners put some money into rehabbing this place, it could be 5 star worthy. In addition to being a normal pharmacy, Delekta also serves milkshakes and the famous Rhode Island cabinet. You choose coffee, chocolate, or vanilla. My chocolate cabinet was good, but not amazing. Maybe I should have gone for coffee? Or maybe I just don't fully get the appeal because I'm not from Rhode Island? To me, a cabinet tastes kinda like a melted milkshake. In any case, if I do find myself in Warren again, I'll go back and try the vanilla coke, as per Chris J.'s recommendation.

Yelp
Their chocolate malts are delicious, and my coffee cab fan friends tell me their's cannot be beat. ... but it is not only about delicious, the entire experience must be savored. Having a cab, or a malt here is like being back in time. The whole ambiance is an experience. I feel like I am in the soda fountain scene from It's a Wonderful Life. This place is right up there with the big blue bug, it is a Rhode Island treasure.

Yelp
Delekta stopped being a pharmacy a couple years ago. Apparently, the work involved in running a pharmacy has increased (because of computerization) and they didn't want to deal with it. They still have a quaint, old-fashioned looking store where they sell ice cream and candy and gift-type stuff, but you can't get anything there that a pharmacy would sell (their agreement with CVS, which took over all their prescriptions, doesn't allow it). They couldn't possibly be selling enough stuff now to stay in business. I think what keeps them open is that they own the building and they have rent-paying tenants.

Yelp
This place rules. Old school family run place with a real soda fountain. Super friendly staff. RIP Kathy.

Yelp
Classic aesthetic. Coffee cabinet is iconic Rhode Island.

Yelp
I have to have some respect for a place like this that has been around so long. Especially considering all the competition from the big pharmacies that has seen so many places like it fold. Too bad that the people that own,/run the place don't seem to show the same respect for the patrons who stop by. First of all the place is very small, and there really isn't a lot to see. But that would still all be worth it if the people that work there were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately my experience with them was very cold and unfeeling. I stopped by there on a cold winter day when I took a walk in Warren just to see the place and get a coffee. My opening remark about the cold day went unanswered in any way, save for a quick look, as was my order for a coffee to go accompanied by any conversation or even a simple "may I help you". After no real interaction up to that point I gave up asking any questions about the place I had, nor was my change offered with a thank you of any kind. Very disappointing experience for a place with such a history. The place be cozy and nostalgic all right, but I find myself having to agree with some of the other reviewers here that the people that work there don't add up to either the friendliness the looks of the place implies, nor is it even worth your time in spite of that in my opinion. In short, deep down they may be historical, but up front they're just modern day assholes...

Yelp
One more vote for the best coffee cabinet on earth along with being transported back in time! I get to Delekta about twice a year for the last 30or so years and it is always a treat. The lovely lady who is the Pharmacist/Cabinet maker supreme refused to have her picture taken. Instead the daughter of the long time owner made by drink and graced the camera lens as well.
