The Delft Bistro

The delicious craft cocktails, tasty dishes, playing the movie Elf added to the holiday vibes along with the fresh powdery snow. The service was incredible! In the area for a Northern Michigan college visit and our server is a student and in the same major. Food was delicious. The cheese curds are a must. The space is beautifully festive! The Orange Cardamom Espresso Martini is the best Espresso Martini!

I visited twice during my time in Marquette. First, I went for breakfast and ordered a bloody mary and the tofu scramble. The bloody mary was really good! I had high hopes for the tofu scramble. Honestly, I was impressed they had it! They have quite a few vegan options on their menus. The tofu scramble was not that good though. I was surprised to see sliced carrots in the scramble - a lot of them. There was also kale and I think mushrooms as well. I felt like there was only 1/16th of a block of tofu in this scramble. They plate it so it looks like there's a lot, but it's just the top layer. Tofu is the cheapest protein so I'm not sure why they're stingy on the amount in the dish. The carrots did not make sense and there was way too many. The tofu scramble was seemingly unseasoned. The kale wasn't the right leafy green for this scramble either. It wasn't massaged or softened much, so it was not enjoyable to eat. The hot sauce gave the dish more flavor. I do feel like they put a lot of thought and effort into their vegan dishes, but the tofu scramble needs to be reworked. I came back for dinner later in my trip, and it was much better. We ordered the falafel bites, harvest salad, and romesco pasta to share. Everything was incredible. If anything, the sauce that came with the falafel was too sweet and not really a sauce for falafel. The salad and pasta were delicious - no notes!

Delft bistro had an amazing vibe and delicious food. The repurposed old theatre renewed as a two story restaurant - still using the movie screen for all patrons to watch movies such a marvelous idea! Our movie was Shrek! The food menu was filled with various tasty options and conscious of all dietary restrictions! Hefty portions - even the small bites and tastes were quite big. I recommend the falafel bites, hummus, and short rib bites. The Romenasco and Chicken Piccata pastas were good as well, but I’d encourage others to explore other options on the menu. On Thursdays they offer a date night special - 2 pastas for $40 & $10 off a bottle of wine. They also had jazz musician playing that evening! The downside to this meal was the very poor service and our waitress who was ill (sniffling at our table all evening). We noticed that the waitress was overwhelmed, helping 8 tables by herself. She kept entering our table number incorrectly into the POS system resulting in us receiving other tables drinks and food. All together, the restaurant seemed to lack communication. For instance, the staff not mentioning they were out of pita until after we already received our hummus. It is clear that this restaurant is understaffed and may benefit from better hostess, kitchen, & waitstaff communication. Most of all - I hope management is encouraging their employees to take off if not well - as I woke up with the same sniffles as my waitress this morning…

I visit Marquette a few times a year and The Delft is my first choice for snacks, drinks, but especially dinners. These photos are collections from the menus over the last few years, all stunners! Innovative and interesting cocktails always delight me (I dream about the cigarettes and coffee negroni often). The spirits and beer selection is exciting and just the right amount of options. The staff have always steered me to a wine pairing with my dinner I have enjoyed. Occasionally, I even splurge on dessert and I'm always happy I did! I often sit at the bar since I am solo, but when I catch a dining room seat to enjoy the screen, its fun to jump into whatever movie the crew is hosting. The Delft is one of my favorite places to get quality drinks and food where you can genuinely see and taste the creativity and delight the staff and management put into every menu. Since I typically travel seasonally, I have the pleasure of trying the rotations in the menus. I am always excited to get back and see what's new! With love from Duluth, MN. Amazing experience! We happened to come on date night without even knowing, and it ended up being such a lovely surprise. There was a date night special and a romantic musician playing, which made the whole evening feel extra special. The bistro itself is adorable — set up inside an old movie theater with so much charm. There’s a chef viewing area where you can watch the kitchen in action, plus additional seating upstairs that adds to the cozy, intimate vibe. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered several dishes to share, and every single one impressed us. The mushroom pâté was incredibly smooth and delicate. The rib bites were tender and the sauce they were in was so good. The garlic hummus was flavorful and comforting. The lamb vindaloo was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted — rich, bold, and perfectly balanced. The lamb ragu, a special pasta that night, was also fantastic. I bake sourdough myself, so I’m a little picky about sourdough bread, but I have to say — theirs is pretty good! Overall, The Delft Bistro is a charming, delicious, and memorable spot. We loved everything about our visit and would absolutely return.

I stopped on a busy summer night! I made a last minute reservation online when I realized, I would be unable to get in to any other place. They actually seated a friend and I an hour before our reservation. The waiter was hilarious and easy going. The food was delicious, how was this not our plan A? We ordered the pasta and salmon. Both had amazing fresh flavor. We also got the dill cocktail and honey dew cocktail. We’ve never had anything like it and we loved it!

Amazing place in the heart of Marquette. Lovely ambiance. Very unique menu options. Nice vegetarian options too. I had the coconut curry with Tofu and it was delicious. The smash burger was so juicy and more than filling. Definitely a must try place.

We had such a great experience last night! Our group of four was seated immediately, even with the Josh and Jase exposure. Our server, Alan (sorry if I spelled it wrong), was incredible - attentive, spot on recommendations, and so very pleasant! From cocktails to appetizers to entrees everything was amazing. Thank you for fulfilling a great Girls Weekend, from a new customer from the other end of the Yoop!

Best meal in Marquette!! We ate here on a Saturday night and the place was hopping. Here here is what we got. We started with a appetizer of milk and honey, which was fantastic. I even got the gluten-free bread and that was fantastic too with the milk and honey. I also liked the bourbon bacon glazed scallops for an appetizer. WFor the main course, my wife got a pasta dish with lamb, which was incredible and I got the the ribs which were great as well. I can't tell you enough how good these ribs were. They even had a little heat on them. The inside had a cool vibe as well. When I am back in Marquette, I will be coming here again.

My new Marquette favorite!!! This was probably the first restaurant I've visited in the UP and felt totally welcomed. The staff is diverse and so is the menu. It's a chill environment and it looks Like a vintage movie theater on the outside. My food was delicious. I was hungry, that's a fact and I promise I did actually taste the food and not just inhale it. I also had wine with my meal and it was great as well. Vegan options, great service and a staff that is reflective of MI for the win.

I'm a little confused with the inconsistency of messaging. This has been one of my favorite spots to visit when I come up North each summer. We loved that we have a dog friendly spot to bring our pup. Unfortunately, things must have changed. We were bummed out that we couldn't bring my out of town friend to check out this spot too. My friend and I were greeted by the hostess. I let her know we were looking for a table for 3 adults and 1 dog. She let me know that dogs were not allowed even on the patio. I asked if we could sit outside of the patio at the high top tables, but I was told no. I have read other reviews about the restaurant changing their policy but still allowing dogs outside of the sectioned off patio sitting. Fortunately, there are dog friendly restaurants in Marquette that allow dogs on the patio. Not sure about the variation between local restaurants, but I have been able to take my pup to other local downtown restaurants. Come for the food and the chill vibe, just don't bring your pup. I'll have to try again next summe

Nice place. The staff was great. We had a party in the upstairs room. The staff couldn't have been more attentive or friendly. 1st class all the way. Lots of options for drinks. I wish they would have had a better selection of higher-end bourbons. Very limited. The food was pretty good. Salmon was great. The filet was not a $40 steak. Not much flavor. Maybe I just got a blah one. The atmosphere was great. The bathrooms were clean. Would I come back, yes.

Great theme. Dinner and a movie in a former theater. A movie plays on the big screen while you eat. The movies are all ones we know. so you don't really need the sound. if you really want to follow the show, you'll need to read the subtitles. I ordered the ribs and the didn't love them. although the plate presentation. was great, I thought the ribs were a little dry and the brussel sprouts were crispy overdone. I also had soup, it was beef vegetable, which was salty, heavy on broth, light on beef and veggies. My waitress was unfortunately spread very thin with multiple tables and a group of people in a meeting room. Never got a drink refill, and had to wait a long time to get and pay my bill. I liked the atmosphere and believe this might just had been a bad night. Will give The Delft another try in the future. The muscles (on the next table) looked great. Going to try them!

What a fun relaxing find. The food was sublime. And we had a great time. Ha. Ha. In all seriousness it is a must stop and if Jordan is bartending let him chose what to make you. He's amazing.

Not a great experience eating here for the first time in a few years- out of town visitors to the area. The positive was the absolutely incredible mimosas. What wasn't incredible was the meal. Why are they putting arugula on pancakes? The chicken was nearly burnt and dry. The Benedict tasted like pure lemon juice, had one tiny piece of toast cut into two, maybe one piece of bacon between the two of them, and no sides for $20. The waitstaff was excellent, though. The restaurant was modern. Chairs were not comfortable. Probably won't go back-disappointed at the quality of our meal.

The Delft Bistro is so charming! I love the ambiance and the restaurant looks classy. It's nestled downtown, and I love the old theater sign. We were in town visiting with family and stopped by for brunch over the weekend. They have a great cocktail menu and even have options for brunch. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was absolutely delicious and they food was plated so well. I wish I had more time in town, as I'd love to try their dinner menu.

Prosecco and mushroom fried rice with a lot of veggies. Little salty but great for winter to warm up or after hiking in summer. My buddy ordered hamburgers. It looked great. The pasta is made here. Pasta with no meat. My carnivorous daughter loved it! We finished with crumblulee

The workers were all very friendly. Everyone was caring to the customers and very attentive. The vibes were awesome, industrial old school movie theatre, perfect lighting, and an awesome menu. The bone marrow was not a bold flavor, and the sauce paired with it almost washes out the flavor of the marrow. The calamari had great flavor, and the sauces paired well with it. The burger was excellent, more of a "less is more" flavor profile. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The dessert tasted almost burnt or over baked. There was an interesting after flavor. Overall it was a wonderful place and I will be back.

The food was excellent and we had a fun time there. It's neat how they play movies on the big screen they Homage to the old movie theater in which it is situated in. Our server was fantastic.

The service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was casual. They show a different movie each evening. Overall the food was good and plated nicely. The only disappointment was the Fried Brussels appetizer. It was swimming in an odd liquid mixture of Orange Thyme Vinaigrette, walnuts, blueberries and goat cheese...a rather strange mix of flavors, in addition, there was waaay too much of the vinaigrette and it compromised the flavor, texture and integrity of the brussels sprouts. The salmon and ribs were good and the chocolate chip cookie bake with maple vanilla cream and ice cream was shareable and a perfect ending to the meal.

Great atmosphere and food. They were low on staff, and only bar seats were available for people without reservation. We got the ribs and gnocchi. I would prefer the mushroom risotto, but they ran out of the ingredients. The ribs are uniquely falvored and the brussel sprouts are decently done too. The gnocchi is great too. The protion is on the smaller end though. The cheese curd was wonderful with the sauce. Overall, we enjoyed this place and would recommend if you are for modern and hip food.

Solid food -- but more upscale and fresh than your typical restaurant, but definitely not high-end by any means. The Brussel Sprouts were good -- but a bit odd with blueberries in them. I'd pass on the hummus plate -- hummus was quite plain (but fresh). The chicken shawarma wrap was very good -- fresh flavorful and great pita bread. Service was decent. Interior layout is a bit odd with a giant movie screen inside, but it works.

A little gem in Marquettes quaint downtown area in a converted theater. Very creative menu and flavor were outstanding. Super service and overall good vibe.

Everything was great, arrived close to closing time but that didn't matter they still served as if it was earlier and we ordered something reasonable not to complicate a late arrival. Great food and service!

My friends and I came for cocktails and we left happy! We only had time for a couple quick drinks before a dinner reservation at Steinhaus last fall, but we loved hanging out at the Delft. The old theatre vibe is cool and it was fun to catch a bit of a movie on the big screen from where we were seated upstairs. The cocktail menu is nicely curated and arranged by spirit. I started with the hibiscus mint margarita: El Jimador tequila, Cointreau, hibiscus simple, mint, lemon, lime. It was slightly sweet and tasty! Nate got the ginger old fashioned: Four Roses bourbon, ginger syrup, orange bitters, candied ginger. It was nice and smooth but I was hoping for a more pronounced ginger flavor (I love ginger!). Taylor, our server/bartender, was awesome! I'd love to visit again and try some more drinks - the dew drop, chiquita, and roulette all sound amazing too. And the food! I would love to try the food next time.

First time visiting Marquette and this restaurant was listed within the hotel's list of recommended restaurants. Good food & unique atmosphere. The movie "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" was showing. Had the Fried Brussels as an appetizer -- very good & well balance in flavor. The candied walnuts were just right and not overly sweet. Ordered the Falafel Salad as our next course --- tasty salad and the falafel was crunchy on the outside & inside had a nice texture. And for the main entree, ordered the Mafaldine -- very flavorful given the capers, anchovies & olives. We had to try the Blueberry & Orange Crème Brûlée -- nice ending. Our personal preferences: * Wished that salad & entree weren't served at the same time * Would have liked the crème brûlée to have been a little warmer. We like a nice balance of cold brûlée and warm caramelized topping. This one was cold throughout

Dog friendly, so that's a big bonus with us. Like most dog friendly places in Marquette, the patio is really small. They have local craft beers and pretty good food. We went twice. The first time I ordered a wheat beer and was brought a sour, but they corrected that. I had the foghorn chicken sandwich, it was decent but a bit dry, fried perhaps too long. The second time I got a steak tip sandwich. The combo of chimchiri and horseradish mustard...was ok, but maybe stick with one or the other. The combo of the two was a bit much. Service was good and it's nice to people watch.

We have been coming here for four years straight to visit our daughter at NMU. This is the worst visit we have come. We made reservations and the place was half full during the blueberry fest. They no longer do the poutine! We asked our server and she did not know but say we only do it for brunch because it f our head chef. Asked to talk to manager. Worst experience ever taking to a manger. There at other places that have poutine... what? You answer is to go to another restaurant? Ok guess what we won't be coming her next time especially during blueberry fest as restaurant is half full.. really ?? It has Alayna been packed every other year Also no movie playing really? Also manger no explanation other place offer poutine and other place would of offers it or something else We came here multiple time and for NMU graduation and this was our worst experience ever. We will not come back.

What a total gem in this far north cool City. Historic building with lots of charm, very clean, diverse menu with many vegan options and service was amazing. Our server should be bottled up and sold as kindness (Kelsey)

Large party of 8 was accommodated warmly for 5pm dinner no reservations. Our server was as delightful as could be and stopped to chat with our kids table. We had a few appetizers, the whipped honey spread was phenomenal. Other guests liked the marrow. The salmon over fried rice was excellent. Some dishes were good, not great. Overall a delightful stop for dinner and would return.

Such a fun place. Location of an old movie theatre. When we were there Ferris Bueller's Day Off was silently playing on the big screen. The food was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. The cheese curd appetizer is amazing.

This was such a neat experience! A movie themed restaurant that has great food, a bar, and tasty specialty drinks, this is a great place to stop for lunch dinner! The service was fantastic and while you eat, they play a different movie every day! Ours was the movie "Beethoven", classic . The menu is on the smaller side, which to me is perfect because I hate debating between 5 different items that I want. I had the "Foghorn Leghorn" which was a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich which has pickled red onions, BACON JAM!! Brussel sprout slaw on a brioche bun. FANTASTIC! I'm a pretty picky eater, so if you are, I can tell you that all the textures were pretty well hidden together and the flavors worked in a way that nothing became over powering. It's a bit greasy, and a bit messy... but worth it! Oh... and get the cheese curds . I didn't have any cocktail this time around, mainly because I went with my parents and my mom has a way of hiding menus, and then when the waiter/waitress comes to the table, she notices and it's too late for me to decide... so I had my trusty Diet Coke. I did however have a sip of my moms ginger old fashion, and OH BOY, you wouldn't know you were drinking... it's good... be careful. If I had to offer ANY flaws, it would be that the bathroom is on the 2nd floor BUT WHAT? THEY HAD AN ELEVATOR? Yep, it passed the accessibility test as well. Highly recommend!

We stopped through here on the way back from vacationing in the Keewenaw, and were told there was a 20 minute wait while they switched from brunch menu to lunch/dinner. We obliged, but I thought it was odd that brunch said it went until 2pm and it was 1:30 by the time we got there. I was really interested in what was on the brunch menu, so I was disappointed in the change. The building and history were really cool, it's an old theatre and they were playing Avengers: Infinity War on the screen but with no sound. Kind of a cool way to blend dinner (or lunch) and a movie, but it would have been nice to at least have some sound or captions in case you wanted to watch. It seemed more of a background distraction. Service was incredibly slow and it seemed like there were a lot of servers just standing around. My meal was cold when it got to the table because it sat in the window for a while. It was remade, but the stuff underneath the duck was still cold. Carrots were piping hot and the meat was somewhere in the middle because overcooking duck makes it rubbery. The flavors were good and the duck was perfect, but the imbalance of temperatures was a little off-putting. Might give it another shot when we visit again, but would like to try other Marquette hotspots next time.

Had dinner outside because we had our dog with us. Even though the inside was busy and we were the only ones outside, service was prompt, attentive, and very friendly. We had the filet mignon and the braised duck leg - both were delicious. The filet was cooked exactly as ordered and served with a delicious horseradish sauce with broccolini and crispy fingerling potatoes - honestly almost licked the plate clean it was so good! Th duck was tender with incredible flavors - very unique and stand out. We would definitely recommend this for anyone stopping in Marquette! Thanks for the wonderful service.

Tried this place for dinner tonight and we were pleasantly surprised! We both got burgers - me the Founders I think it was called and my husband got the mushroom and Swiss. We both thoroughly enjoyed them! He subbed for cheese curds, which were solid. I rarely like them from restaurants bc none compare to the MN state fair... but these were good. Could be crispier but that's my only critique. I got the loaded brussels, which were good. I got no cheese on them but the toppings were good. They weren't quite cooked as well as I've had other places but still good and I loved that you could sub them in! Great drink selection as well and a dog-friendly patio. Super happy! Would come back - especially after Iron Bay called us five mins before our reservation to tell us they didn't have an outdoor table for our dog, as requested five days in advance and then tried to make us wait forty mins for an outdoor table. Delft you can get in line on OpenTable and we were seated in five minutes.

The cooks here have the right ambitions. They just need some time and feedback to refine their execution. Nearly everything on the menu, especially the entrees, sounded top notch and like you'd find in a sophisticated market. The duck mole was a duck leg that was super crispy and many slices of duck breast. The mole was quite spicy and both forms of the duck were OK; the quality of the duck itself may have been lacking a bit. The mole was very spicy. Between the two pieces of duck was a strip of cold (quite!), boring, white rice and a ring of cold avocado puree. This was jarring and not a good complement to the rest of the dish. It would have been nice to have had a vegetable be part of the dish (Brussels sprouts likely would have worked well). The salmon was farmed raised, and came with an orange miso glaze over fried rice (which wasn't crispy as expected of fried rice). This too came with no vegetables (bok choy would have been a good complement). Some ginger in general would have helped liven up the disdh, The wine list is limited and the staff not well versed on it. They close early for dinner, which is somewhat surprising considering the full house when we visited.

Great food and great service. We tried The Delft on a recommendation from friends and were not disappointed. One of the best restaurants in Marquette.

I'd probably give The Delft a 3.5, but rounding up because it's based solely on the fact that the brunch options are lacking for vegan/vegetarian options. I was able to order the avocado toast, without bacon, egg, goat cheese and added maple tofu. It was good, but not $15 good ‍ Cool vibe and I'd definitely go back, but only for drinks.

My family and I went for brunch and despite having several picky eaters (including myself) everybody was able to find something to eat and it tasted great. Also, I super appreciate the sustainability efforts they implement!

This place is great! Accommodated 10 of us no problem when The Vierling sent us away. The food was delicious and the menu has many great options. Cool vibes, full bar, great beers. Don't miss it!

Always a wonderful dining experience. Make reservations if you can. We usually sit at the bar. The service is always a 10! We enjoy the always changing menu. Very healthy hearty options that change with the seasons. The salads are fresh & unique. Some of the pastas are made in house. Everything tastes really good from the starters and appetizers to the dessert. We enjoyed the Brussels, asparagus salad, vegan pesto pasta and carrot cake. I had an Oktoberfest beer and my husband had a red. Both from Michigan breweries.

Great ambience. Old movie theater turned into a restaurant. It's also pet friendly! We were visiting Marquette and tried this place. It had amazing food and amazing staff. The place is run by professional young chefs who did an amazing job. We had halibut and braised lamb. Both were exotic with unique taste. definitely recommend the place! 10 out of 10.

We ate here last night. Ressies are recommended. I took a chance and ordered the vegan banh mi with upgraded Brussels sprouts and was very happy with both. The non traditional sando was served open face and was a tasty riff on the traditional type. Lots of good flavors and a variety of textures. Brussels sprouts were crunchy charry salty yummy nuggets, definitely don't need to order the ones w cheese and bacon since the basic Brussels are fantastic as they are. My partner was pleased with mussels puttanesca, happy campers all around. Downsides were hard metal chairs that looked like they came from a barn, giant movie screen that was annoyingly distracting, and tables uncomfortably close together. Food was definitely worth it though.

Vegan pasta with the black "meatballs" was fire!!!! Prices were high, but comparable to the area. I went back twice. My friend tried a fried chicken sandwich that was delicious too. Would definitely return!

Great beer, good food, in an interesting environment. A movie screen adorns the wall of this restaurant/bar, and they play movies while you sit and eat/drink. They have an extensive bar menu and this place would be great to hit up for drinks alone. The vegan options are more than most places. So feel free to hit the his place up as a vegan or as a great spot with a mixed vegan/non-vegan crowd. Grab some fries for the table, and dig in!

This place is quite a surprise, it's not a stuffy place. You can come in wearing shorts, but you will be pleasantly surprised. If you have ever eaten at a Michelin star restaurant you will know what I am talking about. The food and drinks were comparable to the best restaurants I've been to including those in Europe. Order the scallops,the salad was amazing they make their own dressings. The craft cocktails are fresh delicious and the service was on point.

Great service, accommodating and delicious! Despite being a party of 10 they were happy to seat us. Also super cute inside, really nice job keeping the original theatre in tact. Great food!! Thanks for the experience!!

Traveling through we thoughts this would be a unique place to stop since it's a old movie theater. They were playing Rudy on the big screen and it was great. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was the main attraction so we got the pasta with chicken and the "preview" slider with the fried cheese curd and the Brussel sprouts. The bun on the slider had a lot of butter so I wasn't able to eat all of it but the meat was good and cooked to perfection. My friend said the pasta was delicious and very filling. Overall, nice place to have dinner in the area.

Incredible vibe and food. I cannot recommend it high enough. Best halibut I have ever had and my wife said the same thing about her salmon. All while a movie played on a big screen behind us. We will be back for sure.

We have been dating for 3 years. Yesterday was the first time she has ever finished her food before me... It was the halibut for her, for me, the steak tip sammich. The halibut was yummy, but for the price, I think they could have had some better sides or increase portion. The steak sammich had a good presentation. Upon arrival, the house made sourdough brought back memories of one of those wooden shoes you might see an old lady plant some basil in. The steak was dry, over cooked, and clearly had been sitting in a heater for sometime. The chimmi churri was also reduced to a pesto like paste and lacked the moisture required to soften the impenetrable rock hard crust of the sourdough. I ordered the lounge lizard beer for 10$ to help me get it down. This is now both the most expensive 8oz beer I have ever purchased as well as the worst tasting. Imagine mixing rice vinegar and apple cider vinegar. To tackle this sandwich I resorted to using the side of my mouth where the teeth are a bit serrated and I had a bit of mechanical leverage. I would use both hands on the sourdough while thrashing side to side with my head similar to the way a shark feeds on prey. This method did prove effective. Overall this was a pleasant experience after slamming a bottle of Prosecco in the park just prior. This gave me the vigor and wit to take on such a piece. Anyways the waiter took away my ladies plate before I could even finish my feeding. This was deeply embarrassing to me as gentleman who never lets his woman finish first. They also were playing the incredibles 2 on a projector.

We sat out front and it is in a convenient and pleasant location. The food was pretty decent. The chicken sandwich was pretty flavorful with the bacon jam. The steak was flavorful as well. The pasta was borderline lacking in flavor and taste. I would eat here again but would try something else on the menu.

I'm in Marquette, MI on business for several months, so I've been sampling the food scene just about every other day. Let me tell you, the restaurants I've been to so far are pretty damn good. Iron Bay and Lagniappe have been phenomenal each and every time (I'll review them later this week). However, there is no possible way to explain just how bad this restaurant is. From the attitude and poor training of the staff, which when you meet the Manager you'll see why, to the food. A 4.6 rating-how? My restaurant, yes mine, has a 4.6 rating and let me tell you, we earn it each and every day. The ambience of the place is rather nice and located in an historic building. The draw is that it's an old movie theatre and has a big screen playing flicks while you dine. Tonights feature- Shrek. Ummmhmmm-this most likely explains the high reviews as it's probably packed with moms who simply want the tikes entertained as they toss sub par food at you. I first sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine; the bartender places the bottle on the bar and never opened it. No, I'm not kidding. As they have no wine cooler the Shiraz I picked had a nice 85 degree temp to it, but the real charmer was that the glass he sat next to it had just come from the dishwasher, so it was about 90-95 degrees F. This is of course was a good thing because if you wanted to disinfect your silverware, you could just use the straight alcohol, corked, superheated wine to do it with (wine when under constant heat turns to an almost straight alcohol with a nice copper penny finish to it) and that's precisely what it tasted like. At this point I moved from the bar to a table (hostess was sweet) in order to start my experience all over again; new slate if you will. The good news is one of my employees called and ended up joining me. And so I carried my bottle and water to the table, no one offered, and then asked my server if she'd please ask the bartender to transfer the tab- he refused. Strike two! My server approached me and didn't introduce herself, didn't ask why I moved, didn't really care about much honestly. I asked to return the Shiraz and thought to myself, I'll just do a nice chilled white to go with a series of appetizers in several courses. This seems simple enough right, wrong! Out comes the wine, opened and boom on the middle of the table- warm! These folks have something against wine. Perhaps the owner was forced to consume wine as a child and hated it so much that he/she now has this pent up rage that they must destroy, every single bottle they can. Anyway, I ordered the Scallop and Burrata to start. The scallop dish was interesting and very good with a purée of pea. The Burrata, wait, I mean the ball of mozzarella they bought at the 7-11 on the way to work, tossed into a tiny mason jar and covered in Chimichurri or something similar. Burrata folks, is an incredibly rich, velvety mouth feel of heaven and if you've never tried it, you must. Just not here. Theirs is an insult to Burrata- a perfectly handmade, buffalo milk mozzarella with a rich cream piped into the middle of it. Served with fresh sliced, vine ripened tomatoes, a hint of chopped basil and a 25 year balsamic vinegar and......... sorry I drifted off, where was I? Oh, back to the white racquetball covered in chopped parsley. It was just about this time that the Manager showed up and without an apology or any concern says "I've never had anyone complain about this wine, what's wrong". 'It's corked', I said. My response seemed to confuse him as if I'd asked him the square root of something. He simply sauntered off, never to return. I guess I'll have to wait to look at my app for pending charges to see if he actually returned it. Well guys, you get the point. This place is too busy telling you how awesomely cool and hip they are with the pink hair and 15 mouth and eyebrow rings to actually get down to the business of serving good food with a pleasant demeanor. It's not hard, but so many underachievers make it so. I would venture a guess that the owner barely visits their own establishment and is most likely retired and couldn't be bothered. Here's some advice whoever you are. Take some pride in yourself, terminate the manager instantly and find someone to come in and clean house. Have this person train your staff to be pleasant and to find some respect and manners. You have a beautiful place, it's a shame it's being wasted. Oh and hey, Troy's burger was so well done, he thought he was eating his own shoe. Take care now, bye bye!

I have eaten here several times when I visit Marquette. The food is outstanding every time. Excellent dishes, well prepared and presented and creative flavors, just a little different but not too different than most restaurants.

One of best restaurants in the UP. Great ambiance in an old movie theatre. Outstanding cocktails and friendly service and some exceptional appetizers, entrees and desserts. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the prices.
