Tasgy food but when we asked for spicy he lost control and my boys could not eat, we spend more money on lassi and soda to manage the chillies. Zz

Visited them and ordered butter chicken ,tandoori chicken, paneer makhni and Naan! Overall the food was just ordinary and Butter chicken was pathetic, and it just didn’t tase like a butter chicken at all ,it was with loads of food colouring and just cream, I politely called the bald person who seems to be managing the place and informed the condition of the food which he agreed and never bothered to make amend of it and didn’t want me to talk more since there were other customers sitting next to our table, finally while settling the check to to my surprise I was still charged for the food that I complaint and not consumed fully , it was unethical ! I’m sure this the first and last time I visited this place and I’m sure I will pass my feed back to my friend circle !

My recent visit to Delhi Darbar Kabab House was nothing short of an extraordinary gastronomic adventure that I feel compelled to share. From the moment I stepped inside, I was embraced by an ambience that exudes warmth and an inviting charm, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The culinary journey began with the impeccable service from our server, Abdullah, whose attentiveness and knowledge of the menu added an extra layer of comfort and excitement to the evening. The owner Asif, his recommendations were spot on, guiding us through a plethora of delectable Pakistani dishes that were both a feast for the eyes and the palate. The star of the show, of course, was the food. Each dish was a symphony of flavors, rich in tradition and bursting with authenticity. The chicken biryani transported me straight to the bustling streets of Lahore with its aromatic blend of spices and tender meat. The Bihari boti roll was another highlight, perfectly spiced and grilled to perfection, wrapped in soft naan, and bursting with succulent flavors. Equally commendable was the presence of the owner, whose passion for his heritage and dedication to his craft were evident in every bite. His warm hospitality and genuine enthusiasm for sharing the richness of Pakistani cuisine made the experience all the more enriching.

Located half a mile away from the busiest segment of West Devon. Food is savory and spicy(Indian spicy not US spicy) . Reasonable price, ok ambience and service.

What a scam! This restaurant advertises on Instagram that they have a “buy one, get one free” deal on entrees and 50% off on biryani and BBQ items, but only for online orders. However, when I placed my order on their website, it only showed a “buy one, get one 50% off” deal on all entrees, including BBQ and biryani. When I called to confirm, the front desk told me, “Don’t check Instagram, whatever deal is on the website is what we have.” That’s not even the worst part! I ordered two entrees for pickup, and the second one—which was supposed to be half off—came in a much smaller container than the first one. What a sneaky way to trick customers! I hope the owner of this place stops using false advertising and deceiving customers.

Overall experience was ok. Would definitely go again for rumali Roti. I m not sure about other items. We ordered the following items: Rumali roti (5/5) Matar paneer (2/5- I had specifically asked for this to be mild, but even their mild was super spicy, and I couldn't eat it. As per the person working there, he showed me the bill to prove that he added a note for mild curry, but it was super duper spicy. Dal tadka- (3/5) After eating matar paneer, I barely got any flavor of dal tadka because my mouth was already on fire. After coming home, I heated to have this, but this one also was definitely not mild as I had asked them to make it. Chicken tandoor - the overall flavor was good (3.5/5) Masala papad- (1/5) it was more of an onion papad. Just for name sake & to show color , one or two pieces of tomato and bell peppers are added. But other than that, it was filled with onion only. Plain papad (5/5) - nothing to go wrong with this. Yogurt(5/5)- plain yogurt, nothing to go wrong with this either. Apart from the above listed, they decided side of onion, cucumber, and plain raita. We had ordered plain rice on the side, which never came. After washing our hands, we saw that our table already had a small cup of dessert. Based on the quantity, we assumed that it was for tasting or maybe complimentary. But while we were paying the bill, we realized that it cost $6 dollar for only 2-3 spoons of dudh dulhari. The songs that were playing in the background were good. The staffs were very friendly.

Would not recommend. Ordered a dish based on the recommendation of the server and it was horrible. The meat had such an off taste to it, it was inedible. Upon informing the server, he made no attempt to replace the dish and he didn’t even apologize. Dismal service, bad food, there are plenty of other places on Devon that deserve your money, avoid this place at all costs.

Yelp
Came to another of these Indian restaurants on Devon Avenue. It's easy to find a lot of good ones, and this is one of those. Delhi Darbar is kind of one of the farthest away. Located about as far to the west as the Indian neighborhood gets. The prices and the spices make this worth venturing to and getting some authentic food for not a lot. Better than it looks, because it looks pretty plain so you think the food might be. It's not of course. There's the Indian classics and some lesser known ones. It's about $12 for an entree. We got a few of our favorites. Has some good vegetarian choices. I picked the Chana Masala. An unfortunate thing is entrees don't come with anything. These don't include naan or rice. Pay extra. The only bad thing about it. Good authentic flavors. It's unfortunate the entrees don't include naan or rice so you have to pay more to have it. There's quite a few choices for vegans and vegetarians.

Yelp
Went to restaurant for dinner with someone one late evening night when we walked right in the place look nice and clean. We first for seat and was given 6 water bottle without being asked. As everyone know if you go to restaurant if they give you water if we don't order it's free. Or as we thought. When we got the bill not only did they charge us $2 per bottle they try to charge us for 12 bottles rather than 6 bottles We order 3 appetizers and they were tasty but base on the side it doesn't worth the first. We ordered a fried catfish per recommendations the first was very salty. Next we order a curry beef(beef was super soft and the sauce was great perfect to eat with naan) next was the chicken brianyai it was rather taste less and the chicken was very hard. The murgh makhani was rather disappointed as there was no sauce and the color was super red unlike other butter chicken. The bbq they have was good we got the chicken and beef. The chicken was flavorful and was texture was better than I expected not too rough. They ground food was not so well it was tough with no flavor. Lastly one of the best thing I got was the mango lassi totally not disappoint the mango flavor was so creamy.

Yelp
Tried this for the first time after hearing about it for months! I will say I didn't realize it was Pakistani food but I did enjoy a few dishes. My favorite was the chicken makhani and the masala papad. They have a raita which is really watery (I was surprised to see that) but it was really flavorful and I added that to all of the items. I was told to try the roti instead of naan and it was still good! I wasn't the biggest fan of the paneer but the chicken was worth coming back!

Ami S.

Yelp
I do like the food here but the owner is always a little shady. You have to check your receipt because he will try to charge you more. He is so stingy about you bringing your own water bottle. He really ruins the experience each time. Other than that, there are no complains.

Susan L.

Yelp
A neighbor recommended this restaurant and we went there for a date night. As we sat down, they say they cook to order and will take 20 min or so. So we made sure to order some appetizers. The food were fantastic. Even better they close very late and have online ordering.

Brandon H.

Yelp
Amazing food, hospitable service, and calm/quiet ambiance. Great family style dining option

Zoe D.

Yelp
Food was far more over my expectation since me and friend was just random a place to go~ Will visit again soon

Maria Belen D.

Yelp
Very good service food was outstanding. You'll feel like family when you eat here. Server was so sweet top notch service 100/10 will definitely come back!

Bella D.

Yelp
Food was delicous and I really enjoyed being here. The staff was kind and we had a lot of fun. Ambiance was welcoming and I love the walls and ceiling. Very fancy. You'll feel like a family being here. Me and my sisters sure did. A downside was the mango lassi. Wasn't the best but it was still drinkable so it wasn't much of a problem. My water cup did look a bit dirty so I didn't feel comfortable drinking out of it. Other than that it's great and I would recommend this place. 8.5/10.

Henry S.

Yelp
Food Amazing, naan the best I've ever had, korma very excellent. Will come again for sure

Melissa A.

Yelp
Loved this place! The owner was really nice. Great mango lassi. Loved the chicken boti, goat biriyani, paneer burji, karahi gosht, garlic naan and rotli. Good chutneys and raita too! Also got the bihari roll to go and my bf loved it. Best Indian food I've had in chicago!

Michael C.

Yelp
Excellent service and the food is outstanding. We had the chicken masala and paneer with rice and garlic naan. Very authentic and perfectly blended with spices.

Siddiqui M.

Yelp
The food was really bad, I ordered Dal fry, chicken boti, mutton karma and zeera rice. It was the worst quality and bad taste food, never had this type of worst experience. The service was really bad especially the cashier Asif Siddiqui, he was really rude and unprofessional. There were hidden charges that were included in my check. Never ever advice anyone to eat there. It not worth it for the price for the food.

Puneet S.

Yelp
Let's start with the food: The food is good in terms of tasty late night thrills with fresh roti and service but let's stop there. The taste is good but not great. It fills the stomach but quality of meat and food coloring is questionable. The chicken makhni is fresh but quality of meat is not up to par and can be much better. There is also too much food dye put in the food that needs to be less. Great for a late night spot to gather with company and munch on food but not everything. I personally like the paneer makhni which is ground cheese and seasoned with some Indian spices. This place needs some work but it isn't bad for late night food.

Mohammed S.

Yelp
Food was horrible with no flavor. The evening started with server placing water bottles on each placemat, later found out that the cost of each water bottle is $1.50. For 6 people we paid $9.00 for just water. Mutton Karahi which consisted of boney neck meat. Terrible taste for $19.99 per dish. Chapli Kabob was slimy like the meat was blended few days ago. Waiter's pick we order Chicken Masala. I kid you not, this dish was so horrible not in taste but also the look. The chicken was boiled, smashed and pulled and cooked in some kind of masala tasteless. For six of us we paid $134.00 Never going back there again and I warn everyone, please do your due diligence. Place is horrible. PS. I asked the counter person about bottled water and his bullshit reply was that due to Covid-19 we serve only bottled water. Hogwash. The businesses who think the customers are stupid have very short life.

Zaid S.

Yelp
Went here as a late night option for dinner. Ordered the beef Nihari, chicken makhni, chicken biryani, chicken tandoori, and behari kabob. As well as 3 naans. Let's start with the good. The naans were very good. Relatively big and 3 of them were enough for the 5 of us. Also the chicken tandoori was solid, although it only came with 4 pieces, which made the dish slightly over priced. The biryani and the bihari Kevin was also pretty decent. Now the bad. Before I even get to the food, we weren't given water even after asking multiple times until we were almost done with our meals. How is that not the first thing done once we are seated??? Getting to the food, it did not live to the prices. The Nihari was oily and fatty. Feel like if you want Nihari there are other options on Devon that are much better. The chicken makhni was obnoxiously dyed red and lacked any flavor. Definitely an option for a late night spot, but it would only be a last resort option for me. I'd rather try any of the other restaurants open late on Devon or go back into the city and find something there.

Susan S.

Yelp
This place is pretty decent for a place that's open 24/7. It's a little dirty not the cleanest but they do have good food and service is actually ok here -the mutton curry was pretty good Garlic naan was very good The tandoori chicken was good! And the rice was super fluffy -waters gross! Best bet to order bottle water They have really good chutneys here The sweets are ok it's a hit or miss, when we went this last time it was pretty old ekkk

Dota G.

Yelp
Went there with a group of friends. Really enjoyed the food. They also have vegan options.

Joseph L.

Yelp
The food is very good however I feel it's a bit overpriced. There are other places where the food is also tasty but cheaper. However, if I was in the area again, I'd stop in another time.

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Fantastic place! Tandoori chicken was great and so were the kebabs ans naan and. Asifsiddiqui was a fantastic host and the food came out dilicious. Definitely try this place if you are in the area!

Mike G.

Yelp
Delhi Darbar... wow... not enough words can be put down on paper to describe my absolute infatuation with this one of a kind kabab house. More then the food, it's the the incredible vibe of this restaurant. Sit down, relax, and enjoy the view of 116 hsby girls walking back and fourth. Also a little tip... if you pay a little extra Joe from the kitchen will personally give you a foot massage. What's everyone else's favorite food from this kabab house?

Sameer K.

Yelp
Excellent service by Mr Asif Siddiqui. Food was fresh and delicious. Appreciate the prompt service.

Harish V.

Yelp
When you play volley ball till 11pm you end up having less energy and less choice of places to go for dinner. Devon is one place where few places are open till the wee hours . Normally my choice would be "Hyderabad House" but friends insisted to try a new place and we ended up here at 12.15 am. Parking was free at that time and there are still people dining at that time. Like most places in devon this is "Hole in Wall" kind with nominal decor but pretty clean as they seem to have renovated recently. Samosa which they mentioned fresh were actually hot but they were the frozen ones just deep fried before serving which is a big off to me. Goat Biryani was ok and the Lamb Khurma and Lamb kadai were decent. They brought chicken biryani too late hence we took it as "To-Go".Tea was pretty good (1.50$) which is self served and you can have complimentary cookies with it . Pros: Wee Hours Availability Clean Minimal Prices When you don't have options,Try it. Cons: Service can be improved. Mix up Orders(Ordered chicken curry but got Lamb)

R B.

Yelp
Person named Asif is rude and always in a rush. He would not recommend any dish and would not wait for us to make a decision. There are plenty of other options on this street. Avoid this place

Kaya K.

Yelp
Amazing food 10/10!!! It is just so homey and sweet here just so cute and so much fun!!

Shahid I.

Yelp
Food is good as always. Under the new management, price have skyrocketed. They decided to increase the price by 40% and the justification the management gives is the current inflation. I think a 10% hike is justifiable, similar to prices of entrees in similar restaurants in the Devon area, not 40% hike. Not going back anytime soon.

Hager B.

Yelp
This is the place to go If your looking having a supper late dinner. The butter chicken was alright. I really love their Bahari and chicken boti roll. If your ordering naan get the garlic butter naan. The biryani is delicious as well. One thing I've learned is if your carrying out the food takes at least 30 min to get ready. Call way ahead. Everything is looks clean.

Sam R.

Yelp
Honestly I love bbq and what can I say, the best grill special on Devon!!! Asif had the greatest service ever! Great man!

Sahreen S.

Yelp
This is our goto place for goat and chicken biryani. This place always carry their flavor. Its always consistent as compare to other places here in Devon. And food quality and quantity is good for the price. Chicken boti and beef boti is great as well. Definitely give it a try, you wont regret it.

Ali S.

Yelp
Food was amazing and service from Asif siddiqi was great. I would recommend the grill special

Muhammad K.

Yelp
Great food, great atmosphere Asif siddique is the man! Order the grill platter that's the best item

Jacob J.

Yelp
Figured it was time for an update. I ate here recently and against my better judgement but, this is where our caravan stopped. I have two friends that loving call out to "DD's" when drinking. Both of which know that with a dining experience comes hours of agonizing on the porcelain goddess but as these guys tell it, "it's so good going in" and it can be. Plates ordered - their version of Butter chicken which is Chicken makhani (x2) and a masala chicken dish (x2). We had a couple baskets of paratha (bread) for dipping. Their butter chicken has a peculiar color like that of Pepto Bismol, it'd be fitting & helpful if Pepto was served with their food. Evidence of the night before is left on your fingertips since the color is hard to remove. Better judgment would, be, not to share this text conversation but hey.. WTF. Arpan S: Damn. I'm on sh-t number three or four. This is horrible! Arpan S: Tastes so good going down though TP: Me too lol Arpan S: I forced puked a little yesterday. Thought it would help but nope. TP: I know right. Jacob J: That food gave me a nightmare. Jacob J: Felt like I needed to puke and sh-t. Jacob J: If I could've puked on the shitter, I would've felt doubly good. Arpan S: Haha, same here. Arpan S: I had a dream about Oprah. Jacob J: Wait, what??? Not an experience I plan to redo again. I hope the next update, never comes. Cheers!

Aamir G.

Yelp
The place has good mutton Biryani. Spicy big chunks of mutton with long grain rice. Available for dine in and take out.

Chuck C.

Yelp
Best kabobs in town. Haven't been to Chicago in 2 years and decided this was a must visit. Went there late at night with 2 other buddies. Didn't realize they moved locations from down the street. Well the kabobs were great as usual. My friends ordered the butter chicken and beef nihari. They were good especially with their paratha. The service was top notch and they were extremely accommodating. They made suggestions that we forgot to ask. If you want some delicious kabobs or tandoori chicken this is the spot. If anyone recommends tiffin, they definitely don't know their Desi food. Delhi Darbar is where the true flavors are. Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

Ingrid C.

Yelp
I was surprise this morning when trying to review this delicious restaurant and I couldnt find it on yelp... well, here it is!! next time I go, I will take pictures and add them. This might be the best hidden spot at Devon/Indian neighborhood. This restaurant has the real indian deal at incredibly affordable prices. I wont give the place my 5 stars for being pretty, but if what you are looking for is authentic Indian food and great service, this is the place to go!

Zain M.

Yelp
Really recommend this place to everyone. The food and hospitality was amazing. Their bbq was extraordinary. Thank you Asif Bhai.

Ahmad M.

Yelp
This spot is one of the best Pakistani/Indian food restaurant I've ever been too. The food is really good and this is my second time coming here with great service & atmosphere. I definitely recommend this place If you're craving delicious Pakistani/ Indian food.

Abdullah D.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a bite to eat near Devon! Friendly staff always recommend great new items to try from the menu. Definitely try the lamb chops and Nihari! Definitely will go back when I am back in town!

Hubaab M.

Yelp
Ive been here countless times. Just don't get the nehari, not that it's bad but it definitely isn't the best dish they have. Pretty much everything else is fire, the naan, the karhai, brain masala, grilled stuff, balti ghosht, you name it. Legit joint that has and will be around for years and years to come. If you are ever on Devon Ave and want to eat at a very good Indo-Pak restaurant away from all the crazy traffic east of California ave....then I would suggest this place for sure.

Ace R.

Yelp
Excellent food, authentic in every way. Best food on Devon Avenue. For the real deal with no frills, come here for the best Indian food.

Connor A.

Yelp
The best Indian food in Chicago. Amazing taste and very unique flavors! The service is solid and they are very friendly.

MoMo K.

Yelp
My friends call it "DD's", but for someone whose been to many places on Devon, I can tell you right now this place is below average. $1.49 for a beef samosa??? I ordered Beef Nihari from here... well I'm not sure if I ordered "Beef Nihari" or "Beef Oil" because their was a layer of oil on top. What makes this place standout to the college crowd is they are open past midnight. Also, I think they jack up their prices because you got drunk people coming in here that just need to get their salt fix until their ADH levels come back to normal. Would I come back to DD's? Yes if all my friends wanted too. No if I am with my family. No if I get to choose the venue (In comparison: they charge you the same prices as Usmania which is a high-end place on Devon, yet a complete opposite dining experience)

Abhishek S.

Yelp
Worst indian i ever had Dal tadka is like basic Even my kid will make it close to perfect But they gave me boiled dal. I mean wtf man Paneer bhurji sucked tooo

Pallavi T.

Yelp
I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about, the food is always great. The service is prompt and straight forward. If you go there and you're not ready tell them and they will happily come back. Also they are very happy to suggest items to eat. I go there all the time and have a very favorable experience.

Peter S.

Yelp
The best thing I can say about Delhi Darbar is that it's open really late, they have a fairly large dining room, and they don't seem to mind if you're dressed like it's post-apocalypse. If you know what to order, and what to stay away from, you'll do ok. They make a good biryani dish, and their naan bread is good. I hear their chicken makhni is good during the day, but the quality drops in the later hours. If you're looking for a good late night place to sober up, or get a few simple eats before starting a parking lot brawl, Delhi Darbar is a decent pick in the area.

Kim Ione T.

Yelp
YUM! So delicious. It was a little slow to get the food, but WELL worth the wait. I absolutely love the dahl palak (lentil/spinach)! Delicious with the fresh condiments: lime, onion, ginger, jalapeno, cucumber.

Kyle B.

Yelp
Good portions of tasty food at low prices. How bad can that be, right? Ugly place, washrooms in poor repair, inattentive service, cold in winter. Muslim Indian food - using beef. We should want to move in. The other patrons seemed to be enjoying themselves, as did we. We're not that snobby that we can't enjoy cheap, kinda ugly ethic joints. We go to a lot of them. Heck, most of the places on Devon street fall into that category. Some of those places lack charm. I think this is one of them. If you go to this place, I imagine you'll enjoy your food. We did, but I doubt we'll be returning. There are too many other options in town for a nicer experience.

Miriam E.

Yelp
This place is: The Pillar Of Pakistani Food, in all of Chi-Town. This sentiment is shared by my partner and I, who travel far and long, high and wide, from no man's land, just so as to dine here. Being regulars for years, we are welcomed, for the most part, quite warmly. Heart warming, are our memories of this place, when as kids, we were star struck with each other, and heartily in love with the aromatic, richly comforting cuisine. No other place, makes kadai and sweetbread dishes, quite like here. The paratha, is second to none. And, for us, the finishing chai, is an after dinner must. Indeed, the cuisine is the sole reason as to why we come here, as even with upgrades to the decor, "overall restaurant cleanliness, needs to improve." Please keep your establishment: Clean....That being said-though refurbished to look more trendy and updated, this place still retains a divey feel. The pictures of dirty street wallahs selling street food, are in our opinion: unappetizing to look at...The food prepared here though, seems as appetizing as it gets.. So Please: Do Not Change The Quality Of The Food, which has stood the test of time, and hopefully will remain to be: The Best Thing On Devon Street.

Andrew B.

Yelp
Headed back last night after a casual eight hours of drinking, we asked our cabby to take us to a great burrito place in Rogers Park. He responded by taking us to Delhi Darbar and telling us they had Indian burritos. They did not. We were the only non-Indian or Pakistani folks in the restaurant and there were a number of people in skull-caps. We were very drunk and I'm sure we were offending every one of their gods. Despite our obnoxiousness, we were treated very well and the food was delicious. We had two chicken dishes and the meat was flavorful and incredibly moist. The naan was very oily, which at that point in the evening was exactly what we wanted. Our cab driver sat and ate with us. I strongly recommend this place for quality, authentic Indian food. Never thought of Indian food as a good end of the evening snack, but I have to say it hits the spot.
