I stopped in this establishment today to get some sandwiches for my husband and I while we were out and about. When I walked in and placed my order I was the only customer, but a group came in behind me while I was placing my order. I sat to wait and the group behind me dined in. There was one employee on the phone when I ordered and it turns out two more were in the kitchen along with a child who looked to be about 13. The group that dined in got their food one at a time and the DoorDash orders and me were left to wait, although they did get their orders in a timely manner. After about 20 minutes the group dining in finished up, and I was STILL waiting. I’m a fairly patient person, but honestly I had a lot of things to do today, and I was quite frustrated especially since they got my order wrong and the time to fix it took another 15 minutes. For reference, the time stamp on my receipt read 12:21 for when the order was placed and I got back in my car at 12:50. The really frustrating part was the half hearted apology I was given for the mix up. To be clear, mix ups happen , that wasn’t the issue. I was made to feel like my time wasnt as important and the whole fiasco set me back a half hour when I was actually pretty busy today. My advice would be to not offer DoorDash if it’s that overwhelming or perhaps have a dedicated cook and food prepper.

I moved close to here a while ago and this is my first time trying it out. I wish I would have come sooner because it was delicious! The staff is so nice and friendly. I will definitely be coming back. I would highly recommend tying this place out.

Let me just tell you that you will not be disappointed in the food, the atmosphere, or the service at The Deli! The owner, Krystal, is so kind. I made a mistake when ordering on Doordash. It was completely MY fault. I called The Deli and spoke with Kayla, who, by the way, is so delightful and helpful. She went to work to fix the mistake I made on my order. She involved Krystal, who went way above and beyond to accommodate me, and I am NOT exaggerating! I love the roast beef sandwich on a sub roll, grilled! It's consistently delicious every time! I top it off with the Sea Salt and Vinegar chips and Key Lime pie! So yummy! If you haven't eaten The Deli's delicious food, you are really missing out! You won't regret it!

Great place to eat with friends. It is not fancy but the food is good, the prices are good. A nice small business and local spot to eat lunch in peace.

Yelp
The Deli is an all time favorite. Used to go here in 2003 but haven't been back until today. It was awesome. Bread was fresh. The roast beef cooked to perfection. Warm greeting and very friendly. When I'm in town this will be my go-to lunch spot.

Yelp
These are the nicest folks and the food is so good. Never have to wait long and it is consistently good. Just discovered The Deli but it's going to be a go to spot!

Yelp
I was thrilled to find this no frills deli in Lexington on Hwy 1. It is set back from the congestion on main street near the court house. I appreciated this coming in and out of the entrance in mid lunch traffic. I briefly spoke with the owner who was a cheerful and happy to discuss the menu. The food was affordable and the menu was unique for a deli. Sure they had the expected sandwiches but they also had some pretty creative "claim to fame" options, that peaked my interest. I tried the tomato pie sandwich. The sourdough bread was crisp, the pimento cheese had a great flavor, with fresh tomatoes, onions and bacon. You've got to try this place!

Yelp
My go to lunch spot. Friendly service and good food. It is a touch pricey for your average deli however I love to support small local shops. So it's well worth a visit.

Yelp
I visited today for first time. Very fresh salad. Delicious. My friend had a warm roast beef sandwich and said it was really good too. Excellent service. My only suggestion was to have salt and pepper packets delivered with the crackers when you bring the salad

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place so I'm disappointed with the outcome. I ordered the roast beef sub since it's deemed as popular, cold with white American. My sub was a decent size, toppings were fresh but I was given yellow American (strike 1), and there was barely any sauce! It was supposed to come with Mayo, mustard and their "golden sauce" - nobody likes a dry sub (strike 2). Additionally, I ordered a cup of cheesy potato soup on the side. The soup tasted like they used a can of condensed cheddar soup and can of potatoes and called it "soup". This concoction lacked flavor and honestly freaked me out. Giving this place 3 stars because of the wonderful staff, but it will be a while before I come back.

Yelp
Times here: once. Bottom line: I won't be back. Driven by an intense desire to 'try something new' (usually this is a bad idea in Lexington), I popped over to the unassuming "The Deli" to grab a sandwich. Alas, there really wasn't anything positive to note, so here are the lowlights. After seeing a sign to 'please be seated', I was, and waited 10 minutes for nothing, before walking up to the counter and placing an order with the harried cashier. I ordered a cup of water, a side house salad, and the "Hungry Man" cheesesteak-like toasted hoagie thing. The water took 10 minutes to show up, and the food an additional 10. At this point, I have waited half an hour for... A. One nice 16oz styofoam cup of water. Delicious and refreshing. No complaints. B. The to-go SubThing, wrapped in foil C. A salad in a styrofoam container. Since everything was packaged to go (without asking), I paid my $10 and left. The sandwich is a toasted hoagie roll with soggy bell peppers and onions along with some chopped beef and white cheese. Ok. Unfortunately, when you wrap a juicy sandwich in foil for several minutes, the bread gets soaked through, which is exactly what happened. Oh well. It was overly salted, but edible. Still, it must be filed under 'bad food'. The salad, on the other hand, may be the worst, the absolute pinnacle of the nadir of restaurant salads, that I have ever experienced. It consisted of "Subway" shredded iceberg lettuce, which was limp and brown, exactly one radish, sliced thin, 3 waterlogged cucumber slices, and possibly one baby carrot, shredded. Served with some "captains wafers" and a side of dressing. It was about as good as it sounds, which is to say, it wasn't. I could not bring myself to eat it, so into the trash went my $2.50. I could go on, but why? With decent, God-fearing restaurants like Cafe Chartier just down the street, there is no reason to injure yourself with a visit to The Deli. I'm sorry to be harsh, but them's the facts.

Yelp
This deli is in a tucked away spot that offers quick in and out service with above average food. They don't have a wait staff, but you order when walking in and take a seat if you're eating in. (a switch from years past) They have a nice selection, reasonable pricing and will accommodate any request.

Yelp
Got the pub delight. It was extremely bland. The sub was small, but came with a price of what other sub shops would sell their large size subs for.

Yelp
The Deli is my favorite go-to lunch spot in town. It's family-run by good people, and the place has a wonderfully welcoming vibe and a full menu with lots of options (the "Hungry Man" should be famous if it's not already). I like the lay out a lot, I love that they serve beer and wine (they're open till 8pm Tuesday-Friday), and the cheesecake is out of control delicious. Plenty of parking too. In a town so full of big box stores and generic chain restaurants, The Deli shines as a welcome alternative to the norm.

Yelp
The Deli has been a landmark in Lexington for 20 years or so. The food is great and it has a fairly good selection. This is a great place for lunch, and I highly recommend the turkey club. It's very good. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because they only offer potato chips as a side, but the staff is very friendly and the food is great!

Yelp
Great food, service and portions. I have also used their catering multiple times and it is always awesome. Great local small business.
