Spring 2022 Guide to Greater Boston Restaurant Openings | Eater Boston

"A seasonal artisanal gelato shop that reopened after winter, scooping inventive flavors such as mascarpone orange marmalade and honey lavender; the owner expanded knowledge at European artisanal expos, and the small shop quickly developed a devoted local following." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
BEST gelato I ever had. Flavors are SO good, I had strawberry & coconut and it was extremely good. From all the places I've tried gelatos, this one is legitimately the best. Only downside is not opened all year but that's what makes this place special and eager to try it again!

Google
The best gelato I’ve ever had. Homemade waffle cones too are delicious!! We’ve been coming here for years. Homemade from scratch, with clean ingredients. Family owned and you can feel the love put into each flavor. The owner is so sweet and incredibly kind. It feels like we are visiting an old friend every time we come in! Highly recommend to come here and bring your family/friends. We would eat here daily if we could!! You will not be disappointed.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible! This homemade gelato shop is hands down the best I’ve ever been to. The flavors hand made by Viki are so fresh, authentic, and full of depth—you can truly taste the love and craftsmanship in every bite. The texture is perfectly creamy, never too heavy, and each scoop feels like pure indulgence. The shop itself has such a warm, welcoming vibe, and the staff make you feel like family the moment you walk in. They’re always happy to let you sample and explain the unique flavor profiles, which makes the whole experience even more fun. From classic flavors done right to creative seasonal options you won’t find anywhere else, every visit is a new adventure. I can’t recommend this place enough—whether you’re a gelato lover or just craving something sweet, this is *the* spot. A true gem!

Google
This place is a treat! The flavors are unique and expertly executed. Ingredients are fresh and organic, and service is always great. The price reflects all of the above, so we usually come here for a treat with friends or family.

Delini Gelato – My Favorite Spot, Year After Year I’ve been coming to Delini for the past three or four years, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just makes you happy to walk into that’s become a ritual! The gelato is incredible—so smooth, flavorful, and clearly made with real care and quality ingredients. I’ve tried just about every flavor at this point, and I love them all. But if I had to choose? Pistachio, honey lavender, and baklava are my go-tos. What really sets Delini apart, though, is the people. Everyone there is warm- great service that’s genuine. Also, my dog loves their pupsicle. It’s become our little treat-stop tradition, and I love that they include something for our furry friends too. Delini isn’t just a gelato shop to me—it’s part of my routine and I rarely have desserts from anywhere else!

Amirali F.

Google
Absolutely the best gelato I’ve ever had! You can really taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite (or lick). I’ve had gelato all over Italy and throughout my life, but this place truly stands out... it’s worth traveling for. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Google
I’ve tried gelato all over the city, and nothing compares to this place. The flavors are rich, creamy, and incredibly authentic — you can taste the quality in every bite. I had the pistachio and it was pure heaven. It was nutty and smooth (no artificial taste!) — just perfect. The staff were super friendly and generous with samples, and the shop itself has a cozy, welcoming vibe. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is a must-visit for any dessert lover. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll be back!

Crowden S.

Yelp
Superb gelato, full stop. The flavors are sophisticated and complex. Smooth, velvety texture and deeply impressive. The only gelato I've had that compares was in Florence - it's that good. It's not inexpensive (compared to ice cream) but it's absolutely worth it when you consider what's going into it. The service is friendly and the owner will guide your tastebuds to your happy place.

Yelp
Delicious gelato! We stopped in for dessert on a fall weekend night and it was relatively slow. There is a small table and some window counter seating available. The shop was very clean and bonus for having a bathroom! We tried the pistachio, roasted pecan (seasonal) and the affogato. Pistachio was my favorite. Creamy consistency and not too sweet. Roasted pecans had a nice crunch to it. Affogato was made with quality espresso beans! Definitely coming back when we are in the area. FYI they are closing for the season on November 9th.

Yelp
Flavors - 4.2/5 Textures - 4.5/5 Presentation - 4.5/5 Value for Money - 3.5/5 Excellent, authentic Gelato! Incredibly velvety texture that coats your palate, being light and fluffy at the same time. I had the Sicilian almond with vanilla, both tasted fresh, natural with high quality ingredients and not too sweet. The cone is freshly made as well! Very tasty. Amazingly friendly service with homey environment.

Yelp
Traveled all the way out to West Roxbury to try what Reddit calls the ~best gelato in Boston~ To be fair, I haven't really had gelato in Boston, so I can't really compare to other places. But I will say that the gelato was pretty good and I would go again if I lived closer. We got to talk to the owner a bit, who takes a lot of pride in her craft. She mentioned that they have new flavors everyday. (She also mentioned that the Yelp hours are wrong and to always go with what's on Google lol.) I got the tiramisu and the chocolate, which the owner said was one of their specialties. The texture and the flavors were pretty good. I wasn't a big fan of the more fruity ones (tropical sorbet & cherry chocolate chip), but I would recommend the two I got!
google avatar

Eugene A.

Yelp
Amazing. It's the best gelato I've had in the Boston area. It rivals some of my favorites from San Francisco & NY. The texture is perfect, it's silky smooth, serves st the right temperature, and the flavors are punchy. No crystallization. Truly a quality treat. If you're a dessert snob like me, don't miss this one. I'll be back!
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Amazing place to go. The owner Viki is so kind, and lovely to talk to. You can tell she is passionate about what she does! The gelato is out of this world. I especially love the honey rosemary when they have it available.
google avatar

Victoria C.

Yelp
A cute little neighborhood shop in West Roxbury. I came here on a weekend afternoon and the place was full of people inside and out enjoying a cup of gelato. You can learn the difference between ice cream and gelato from their wall decor while you decide on what flavor to get. I had high hopes for this gelato and it didn't disappoint. I got pistachio and creme brulee and definitely preferred the pistachio more. It had a light flavor that was creamy, but not overpowering. The gelato had a good texture to it and I would love to go back to try out the other flavors.
google avatar

Inna S.

Yelp
The best gelato I've had outside of Europe. The flavors are inventive and delicious. The owners are very friendly and take great pride in their high quality gelato that's made fresh daily. I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
There is not a better gelato spot in Boston or possibly even the state of Massachusetts. My favorite flavor is the pistachio which is usually only offered on the weekends. Be sure to check their site for updated flavors being offered in real time. Oh, and the sunset from the outdoor seating right in front of the shop is beautiful.

V V.

Yelp
This is actually my go to place for gelato. They do a very good job with their offerings. It's a bit hidden, but is a hidden jewel.
google avatar

Kelly O.

Yelp
An absolute gem: from flavor to texture to creaminess to quality to uniqueness, this gelato should not be missed. There are only about a dozen flavors at any given time, but oh, what flavors: real and true chocolate, rich vanilla-y crème brûlée topped with a crunchy sugar topping, delicate Persian saffron stracciatella riddled with decadent chocolate strings. Every bite was heavenly, and the portion size is just right for how rich it was (although that doesn't stop me from wanting like a million more cups). I have so many more flavors to try- the pistachio! The mango! The honey lavender! The tropical!- and can't wait to see what else they come up with. Absolutely delicious, and worth every penny- what are you waiting for?

Zori B.

Yelp
By far some of the best gelato we've ever had! The shop is run by a local Viki who has worked tirelessly to perfect her craft. The shop has a wonderful European vibe featuring many mouth-watering flavors that change often. The lady behind the counter helped us pick out the flavors we liked. This is the first Gelato shop we've visited locally that remotely even reminds us of the Gelato we had in Italy. I would highly recommend. It is an absolute gem. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
If you're looking for Boston's best and truly authentic artisan gelato, look no further than Delini Gelato! I was ecstatic to stumble upon an article recently discovering this sweet spot. The owner, Viki, is a master of her trade and is truly passionate about creating artisan gelato for her community. The menu flavors rotate based on seasonal ingredients with a few classic flavors that remain on the menu. My personal favorites are Delini Chocolate (as a true chocoholic I've never had anything better and the use of premium Valrhona chocolate shines here) and Pistachio (made with her own handcrafted 100% pure pistachio paste) - both are absolutely divine!! Other fabulous flavors we've tried that Viki thoughtfully creates with every bite and ingredient in mind are tiramisu, creme brulee, spiced coffee, baklava, stracciatella, salted caramel... the list goes on! The shop itself has a small seating area inside and a bench and a few small patio tables and seating outside as well. Street parking is ample on the street adjacent to the shop. All of Delini's packing materials are compostable and biodegradable, which earns them points for their conscious sustainability. There are 2 gelato sizes (all of my review pictures are the larger size) and they have other coffee and espresso offerings as well. On the many times my husband and I have made the 30 minute drive for gelato, Viki and/or her husband have greeted us with a friendly smile and service. One of the first times we met Viki, we ended up talking to her for 20 minutes about her trade, her passion, and her mission to stay true to the artisan way, when so many others in industry use the word but do not stay true to its meaning. Delini Gelato is an absolute gem, worth a drive, has fabulous artisan flavors, and comes with my highest praise for gelato!

Yelp
First time trying this place and you can absolutely tell the gelato is freshly made! Another plus is that they have eggless flavors as well as vegan options! The service was great. It was cute spot right in west Roxybury, we'll most certainly be back

Chip C.

Yelp
Cute little gelato shop, well worth the trip if you are not local to West Roxbury. All the flavors I tried were delicious. Will be coming back for more!
google avatar

Graham P.

Yelp
Delicious first time coming here! Got a split of pistachio and chocolate, both were fantastic. Friendly service

Annika S.

Yelp
The gelato flavor and texture is great, the interior of the shop is so cute and welcoming, with some outdoor seating (and right next to the park so great location for an ice cream stop), and the family who runs it is always so kind!

Anastasia E.

Yelp
Delicious taste, fresh ingredients, creative flavors, friendly owners. We love coming here!

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
Best Gelato this side of the mississippi! We stopped in on a whim and were delighted. You get two scoops for the regular price! You can taste wholesome ingredients and rich flavors. Try the toasted pecan with the Delini Chocolate! Heavenly.
google avatar

Itay S.

Yelp
Great gelato, unique flavors. I tried the Fig Mascarpone & Pistachio and the honey lavender, both very good. I like the explanation on the wall about the difference between ice cream and gelato. We will defiantly go again soon!
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
Exceptional gelato, the likes of which you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. High quality of milk/cream and attention to flavors. It's clear that the extra effort has been made to craft a magnificent product, with no corners cut. Honey lavender lets lavender shine, with honey in the supporting role. Not too sweet, but you can definitely taste the notes of honey. Not overly floral. Lavender notes hit thick and to the back of your throat, mellowing out over time, this lovely aftertaste providing a completely different experience. A flavor to savor slowly. Pistachio is chock full of nuts. This is a classic flavor, so it's always intriguing how the shop runs with it. This interpretation uses pistachio paste. A touch of salt balances out the vibrant notes of pistachio. Packs a punch! Luxurious and addictive. Tropical paradise has a more velvety texture than the previous two flavors. This flavor emphasizes ripe fruit. Mango comes first, then pineapple. Nothing wrong with this flavor, but it's not nearly as impactful. I understand the impracticality of getting tropical fruit at its peak, but as a mangoholic who really wanted to be wowed, this was a minor disappointment. My suggestion would be to have small (~4mm) cubes of fruit mixed in, instead of it all being blended smooth. I'll definitely be back to try some other flavors, and I highly recommend anybody in the Boston area to give this place a go. Unique and deserves proper recognition!
google avatar

Yuval Y.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream, friendly service, what a find. The yogurt based mango lassi is one of my favorites but all other flavors we tried/got were great as well. Already planning when we'll be back.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Oh, my goodness! The mascarpone fig gelato is heavenly.
google avatar

Damon T.

Yelp
Wow! Best gelato and sorbet I have ever had! Highly recommend the Mango, salted caramel and spiced coffee!
google avatar

Nimita D.

Yelp
The BEST gelato in Boston area! Love all the flavors they have! And I love how environmental friendly this place is!
google avatar

Edward C.

Yelp
This is some of the best gelato I've had and when I lived in Italy I ate a LOT of gelato. The mint flavor was our favorite -- so delicious and fresh. But everything was great and the owner clearly has a passion for the right ingredients. We drove 30 minutes to go here and it was totally worth it. I think I'll go there any time I'm in the Boston area. Support a new local business and go check it out!
google avatar

Suzi M.

Yelp
This is the best gelato I've had outside of Italy. The flavors range from traditional vanilla and chocolate to incredible Eastern European flavors and spices. Which in a world where we can't currently travel, are so wonderful to find. So creamy and so unique. I live in East Boston and heard such good things I drove all the way to West Roxbury and it's was absolutely worth it.
google avatar

Kerry D.

Yelp
Yelp almost local: Best gelato I've had in the US (I say this as someone has consumed a lot of gelato in Italy and other European countries. Last summer I actually went on a gelato "crawl" in Verona. Remembering traveling, kids?) Anyway, cute store with lovely decor. I chatted with the owner who was really helpful answering my questions and is obviously serious about her craft. Portions are European-sized (which I appreciate) and allow you to choose two flavors or more (also like Italy). Prices are American, lol. (Oh well, it's the U.S., and still cheaper than say, JP Licks.) I had the honey lavender (a lovely blue color) and the spiced coffee, and my son had the white chocolate (with a touch of caramel) and stracciatella (made with Valrhona chocolate shavings). Serious yum! They only have 12 flavors per day which you can check online in advance. They had two sorbets and another non-dairy option for those of you who don't do dairy. Go support this new business! I will be back with the whole family as soon as they have pistachio back!
google avatar

Arjola A.

Yelp
Amazing find! Everything made from scratch ,fresh and organic. Hope they had more choices, but for now only vanilla, chocolate, mint ,tiramisu and honey lavender. Tiramisu was delicious. The staff was very friendly, the place was clean.Worth trying, will definitely be back !
google avatar

Yarisma F.

Yelp
Obsessed with this place!! Everything they use is organic and the flavors are so rich! Great place with wonderful flavors. My favorites are hazelnut and tiramisu. The Persian flower is also so refreshing.
google avatar

Lola D.

Yelp
Delicious! Multiple vegan options - the tropical was divine. Very smooth and consistent flavors. Cute shop too. Pricey (6.25 for a tiny cup) but great for a small treat.
google avatar

Rozzie M.

Yelp
Lovely little shop in the space previously occupied by Rita's. Interesting flavors of gelato (tiramisu) and sorbet (strawberry w/ fresh mint). Welcoming owners. Excellent ingredients. Hope they do well!
google avatar

Andy D.

Yelp
I have some friends who have been prodding me to come here for some time and, well, they were right to! I'm more into ice cream than gelato in general, but I definitely developed a love of gelato when I lived in Florence for a semester. It's typically richer and softer than ice cream and this gelato definitely fits that description. All three of us got the chocolate which was a good choice as this chocolate is perfection. It is very rich, almost like the frozen version of those thick hot chocolates you can get at fancy chocolateries. Quote from Lauren, "This is the first chocolate I've had that rivals your chocolate ice cream." Second flavor Em and I both got was Baklava, yummy but could have used a bit more of that nutty honey flavoring, maybe more chunks of actual baklava would help, or at least more honey in the base. Lauren also got the Mango Lassi which was perfetto! Mango is such a great flavor and they really nailed it with this Bulgarian yogurt based gelato, sweet and sour in all the right ways. Highly recommend checking out this spot (park on Centre St by the library, there's no parking on Bellevue).
google avatar

Don Y.

Yelp
Nice little spot, owner was great to talk to, I love small business owners who work at there place. Gelato was rich and delicious. We had pistachio, chocolate chip cookie, hazelnut and lemon sorbet. We will definitely come back

Nathan L.

Yelp
I have been frequenting Delini since they opened, and enjoy that there are always exciting new flavors to try, as well as the classics. I have been at least 20 times and have a consistently good experience. You can tell a lot of care goes into the gelato, with premium and often locally sourced ingredients. The waffle cones are exceptional and the take home packaging is of a high quality, Viky and her husband are always very friendly and will happily tell you more about their gelato. I have been to all of the local gelato spots, and go to Delini the most.
google avatar

Rrrr S.

Yelp
Excellent gelato with awesome flavors! If you are in the area make sure you stop by. You won't regret it.

Toyoko O.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! Best gelato place in Boston. We had the watermelon sorbet, peach sorbet, tropical (coconut/mango), and honey lavender. The sorbets were *heavenly*. We loved the gelato so much that we returned an hour later to buy some big containers to take home! And then we ended up immediately eating most of what we brought home ! SO GOOD! You must try Delini Gelato--it is a hidden gem!
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
If you were wondering what velvet would taste like if it were made into gelato, you'd get your answer here. I'm somewhat obsessive over gelato and had it all over Italy in the US. This is some of the best I've ever had. One caveat, its not cheap. Bringing the family is going to set you back a a bit with pretty tiny portions. Like all memorable meals, this might be worth it.

Greg S.

Yelp
Outstanding ice cream. You get two flavors our group have about 8 between us, each better than the last. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Amanda C.

Yelp
Great gelato with traditional and unique flavors! There is a bench and some small tables for people to sit outside. Light and refreshing on a hot day.
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
A local gem. Such unique flavors made out of local ingredients. Our entire family enjoyed tremendously!
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
One of the best gelatos we've had in Boston area. Despite the limited options due to Covid-19, we're glad that we drove 30' here to get them. We got the strawberry cheesecake, peach sorbet, stracciatella, baklava, and tiramisu flavors. My favorites are the strawberry cheesecake, which smells awesome with the homemade strawberry jam, and baklava. We decided to get a large container of spiced coffee and strawberry cheesecake for the folks at home to try as well, and the staff was nice enough to offer us the blast chill option so that it wouldn't melt too fast during summer travel. Definitely coming back again to try out some more!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Delicious gelato! We ordered the vanilla, chocolate, stracciatella and tropical paradise gelato. All were equally delicious- the tropical paradise tastes as good as it sounds. Highly recommend visiting and supporting this local business!

Phaedrus K.

Yelp
Walked in here today. Having been to numerous gelato places across the U.S (35+ states), I can easily call this as one of the Top 5 gelato places in the country. The flavours are a mix of bold and subtle, each according to the high quality ingredients. Loved the texture - very smooth and the quality of the waffle cone is top notch. Shows that the owner is particular about providing a high quality experience and not one to provide one of those regular 'joy' cones. Highly recommended.

S D.

Yelp
Tried their gelato for the first time yesterday - superb, definitely the best I've had in Boston and up there with the best I've had anywhere. Relatively few flavors, and several quite innovative ones. The mascarpone and marmalade one was superb - really high quality, bitter-ish marmalade bits. Pistachio was made with real pistachios, and was a bit salty - delicious! Creme brulee was superb too. Home made buttery waffle cones too. And, spotless. So glad I spotted this place on a drive past the area and decided to try it. Going back for a box - they can pack several flavors in one - the saffron one looks amazing too.
google avatar

Joey B.

Yelp
Such nice people and such delicious gelato. I especially like the strawberry mint sorbet and the chocolate hazelnut gelato. I'm planning on spending the summer working my thru the entire menu. A welcome addition worthy of support
google avatar

Lindsey K.

Yelp
Wish I knew about this place sooner! So cute inside and so delicious!! Place is super clean and staff is incredibly nice. If you live in or around Boston you HAVE to try this gelato. Matches any top gelato I tried in Italy!

Alina S.

Yelp
Amazing gelato! Finally, we have an amazing gelato in our area. All the favors we tried (5 so far) were delicious and well balanced and had perfect texture, the honey lavender is so good! All the chocolate gelato are made with Valrhona chocolate/powder ( the white chocolate is made with the favorite dulce Valrhona!!!) The place itself is very clean (I have very high standards) and modern. The owner is so nice and welcoming! Definitely will be back very soon. Please support this local business so we continue to have the only true gelato in Mass.
google avatar

Gina G.

Yelp
I was a bit skeptical when I visited. But they truly use ONLY organic ingredients. The taste, the texture and the flavor of the gelato was suburb. I would highly recommend if real food is on your radar.
