Delizia Café

Nov 2024. Fail in Frederick. While the dining area was neat with 3 distinct sections, the rest of the visit was one to forget. The panini we ordered was really just a cold sub sandwich. You are supposed to grill/ bake/ press the sandwich until it warms over and the cheese melts. We also ordered the veggie pizza. After a slice or two I noted that there was no cheese. I grabbed a menu to make sure I didn’t order a cheeseless pizza by accident. Nope, it is supposed to have mozzarella on it. I went and notified the staff. They told me to bring the remaining pizza back. Why don’t you come and get it? Am I working for you now? The waitress was MIA by the way. Eventually they bring the pizza out with some grated Kraft powder cheese. I told the managers this whole meal was unsat. Received a meager apology and I thought they would maybe discount the meal as compensation. But no, full price for a messed up meal. Won’t be coming back.

Quaint cafe with an awesome breakfast buffet. Great selection of Italian and American style breakfast items all fresh, and a price that can't be beat! The staff is friendly and inviting and make you feel at home. We drive from Gaithersburg...it's worth the trip!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. 1) Owner was very authentic and passionate about his food. A Father and son duo worked together and it was such a nice experience being served by the owner and getting to see the chef. 2) Food quality was impeccable. My girlfriend and I are very selective about what we eat and often talk about going back to Europe just to eat good healthy and authentic Italian food. 3) Presentation was incredible especially from a “cafe” even the bread smelled fresh and delicious. We asked for more just to take home with us. 4) Ambiance - again for a cafe what a nice and cozy place to sit down and eat. There’s all kind of seating arrangements and cozy chairs to pick from. (we decided to pick the comfy chairs in the window and people watch) 5) Service - please understand that speed doesn’t always = good service. This is a family owned and operated establishment. What you get when speed isn’t a top priority: Who wants to feel rushed or like a nuisance for asking about different dishes? The owner took his time to explain everything to us in a beautiful way and absolutely sold us on dishes based of his wordings. The hot cocoa and expresso made its way to us within a few minutes while soon being followed by a delicious Burrata salad and then a wholesome Carbonara. I can’t believe I’ve lived in Frederick this long and just now found this place.

The breakfast montagna is an absolute must try. The almond rose latte is delicious. Definitely a must try spot for breakfast or brunch.

What a lovely place to stumble upon! The ambiance is light, airy and very cozy, beach-like. The service is very personable. And the food is amazing!. Besides the fresh pastries ( have not had a croissant like that in ages, if ever!), I would highly recommend trying their breakfast sausage! I was never a big fan of meat in general, and breakfast sausage in particular. But their sausage is really very different from what I tried before- fresh and very tasty. I wonder if that’s a family recipe or they get it from a local farm and it does not have as many preservatives. Awesome place, wish it was closer to where I live!

Update: As always the food is great and the staff is friendly, just keep in mind that it will take some time to get your food ready so don't expect a fast food service. This our first time in Delizia Cafe, we were having breakfast, the place is bright and relaxing, we choose Kevin's recommendation, both the almond rose latte and the montagna breakfast taste great. Since our party was big it took a little extra time to get our food but wasn't a big deal, just for your consideration. Key points: nice environment, friendly staff and great food.

I loved the bruschetta! I have gone before and just gotten that because it’s so good. I’ve had their paninis before and they are also really good! The bread that it’s on is so soft and delicious! Their pizza is good too, although I found the dough to be a little doughy towards the middle. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for just a quick place to stop in!

My wife has met friends here for breakfast or brunch and liked it so we tried it for lunch. I had a sandwich a panini that was barely acceptable did to lack of ingredients. I am mystified why they present one time slice of ham that is complete overwhelmed by the bread. I did not want a bread panini with one tiny slice of ham..... Perhaps is a good "let's meet for coffee" place to eat and chat but just now for me

If this was Hinge, I would give them a super like for sure (above a 5 star). I was reading the other reviews and I could see what they were mentioning but honestly I was impressed. I had never been here before and will definitely be coming back. Our waitress was on top of it but wasn't hovering- could talk and eat in peace. OH MY GOSH the food was absolutely delicious and I am craving more. I have no idea what dressing was on the salad but it was delicious. I got the gnocchi pasta dish in NYC and fell in love with it and dang it tasted just like it but better. This is definitely a hidden gem with amazing ambiance.

This business has been permanently closed, a For Lease sign is clearly posted on the main entrance.

All I have to say is--Yum! We were looking in downtown Frederick for a place for breakfast or brunch on a Sunday morning. Checked our handy Yelp app, and Delizia was recommended. (I had catered Delizia at an event in the past--but hadn't eaten in the restaurant.) We loved it! My husband had the $15 all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. I had an egg Montagna dish--on thin focaccia bread, which comes with a side salad and warm croissant! The cappuccinos were perfect. On top, of the great food--the staff was very friendly! They even do special events--like an upcoming comedy show. I really like this place!

Easy in and out and decent lunch in this cafe. Pastas were good. Con's: waitstaff was inexperienced and didn't speak up so you could understand them. Salad unfortunately hadn't been checked and had some slimy leaves in it.

I think this place is okay. I like the casual attitude that is typical of the Italian cafeteria atmosphere. Prices were also very reasonable. The fried zucchini flowers were good but breaded too thick in my opinion that they came out a bit more greasy/heavy than they should be. The accompanying sauce was a bit too thick and sweet - as if it came from a grocery store. Sus. The stuffed cornetto were good - better than a place, and not as good as another place that I've been to in DC. Go for the custard filling. The breakfast dishes here are probably the main draw - filling, healthy, and well-rounded - had the breakfast montagna, but any of the breakfast dishes here probably would be worthwhile. And of course, with the Italian coffee.

I've been here a couple times and the common theme is the crappy service. It's almost to the point where I started to question whether or not it was an actual full service sit-down restaurant. When you walk in you see the sign that says "please wait to be seated", so it appears to be a place where a server will come to you and take your order. But, they won't ever come back to give you a coffee refill or do normal things like check on you. If you like salt and pepper, it's not on the table. The ambiance is nice though and food was decent, nothing amazing. The owner is definitely Italian and was nice. The young servers are either lazy or maybe it's just how they do things. Decent food and coffee, weird service vibe.

Was exploring Frederick and stumbled upon this gem. Lovely staff, the place is cozy, and the food is WONDERFUL! Prices are very reasonable. Will absolutely be back.

I did not enjoy the breakfast buffet at all and should have went with the breakfast dish instead. It took about 15 minutes to receive the cappuccino I ordered, but it was delicious. The croissants were amazing. I think the owner was the one seating and taking orders, so service was very slow. We had to hunt someone down for the check. I'd say skip the breakfast. I will definitely update this after trying lunch or dinner.

A truly amazing place to come work, meet friends, have a meal, or even do some salsa dancing. Carmine and Giovanna make you feel like guests in their own home.

This is my new favorite coffee shop and gelato stand. I lived in Europe for a while and the gelato here is top notch like there. The rose almond latte was fabulous and omg the chocolate croissants are amazing. The restaurant is super nice inside too and dog friendly. I suggest eating there as the plating of food is beautiful. Staff is so wonderful and kind too. I'm local downtown and love it here.

I got a truly awful iced latte to go. It was so bad that I threw it away. The place was also very dimly lit and unwelcoming. The toilet didn't flush and the worker said that it is always like that and the staff go to a restaurant next door when they need to use the bathroom. Huge disappointment.

Perfect Italian Cafe experience. Breakfast to die for! Amazing fresh chocolate croissant served with fresh dipping whipped cream. So moist and flakey! Breakfast was Sorentino which was scrambled eggs with Matos sauce, cherry tomatoes, shaved Parmesan, and sausage. And my salted caramel latte was perfection as well. I think I found my new favorite place.

Cute cafe in downtown Frederick! I come by in the morning to get some coffee and do some work. I ordered a rose latte, which did not come in a traditional latte cup surprisingly. I also had a chocolate croissant, which was very delicious. The pastries come on a platter with whipped cream and powdered sugar. Overall this cafe was cute and cozy. I will be back!

Delicious food with huge portions. I got the breakfast charcuterie for one and my partner got the Breakfast Montagna. Everything was scrumptious, and the croissant was one of the best I've ever had. This place transported me back to cafés throughout Europe. We can't wait to visit again!

Stopped by for a quick bite. The place has a variety of seating, pleasant ambience. The food is absolutely delicious and outstanding coffee by Illy. You should definitely come here if you are in the area

Let me just say, the decor was beautiful. Although, the food was not the best. We came in on a holiday & the food buffet was not inviting. The food selection was simple & dry--with no sauces or dressings available. We did not receive the service we deserved--especially, celebrating a special holiday. The waitress seemed biased the minute we walked in the entrance. We noticed she greeted "others" differently. No wonder the place tends to be empty!

A sweet little cafe that has recently opened in Downtown Frederick. They are located right off of Market St and on W. Patrick Street. You can't miss this gem. The salted Caramel Latte was absolutely wonderful. It beats the other chain coffee shops in town and definitely helps a small business owner thrive.

It's my first time in this cafe. Wow it's has great food and very friendly staff. It's feels like visiting family here. If you have not visited here it's a most. From the croissants to the breakfast buffet.

What a cute place to stop in for coffee and treats! Delizia Cafe had just opened on my last visit to Frederick and we stopped in for lattes and some treats. We had some little donuts with our coffee and they were melt in your mouth good. This time it was warmer weather so we had Iced coffee which was just as good. Their hand crafted coffee is really good! I was very impressed with their extensive menu and although I did not go to eat, I will definitely try some of the food on the menu next time I visit. It was fun to sit in the window, watch the city go past and take a little break for a few minutes.

Wanted to take the family to a nice breakfast! The atmosphere was great and service was amazing! Very polite! I believe the owner was the one who came by to see if everything was good and asked if we needed anything! This place makes me want to go to Europe!

The ambiance and service were good and I really really wanted to like this place. I just have read the reviews about the buffet or a least looked at before ordering it, so I take some blame. It was less than the nicest way of putting it. They should just remove it. I may try a pastry if I ever go back, but with some good options, I recommend going somewhere else.

I picked this cafe due to its ambience for my much awaited and long due date . We came here for breakfast . Very nice and cozy environment. We ordered espresso mocha which was strong and had a taste of dark choclate to it . I ordered croissant it was buttery and flaky with a flavorful delicious strawberry jam. We also ordered breakfast entree which forgot the name of it but it came with eggs with pesto on a bread with a side of hash brown and salad . Delicious food .

An excellent and unique Italian cafe right in the heart of downtown Frederick. Delizia offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere at all times throughout the day. In the morning, Delizia offers a full service coffee bar and possibly the best croissants in Frederick. They also offer a hot breakfast menu serving American style breakfasts with unique Italian flare. In the afternoon and evening, Delizia offers happy hour cocktails, a good selection of Italian wine and beers. I recommend the Venetian Spritz. The dinner menu features homemade lasagna, pasta, and gluten free snack sized pizzas. There are several event evenings, including an open mic / comedy night and a Salsa dance night. I highly recommend Delizia to everyone exploring downtown Frederick. I expect to become a regular customer!

We love Café Delizia. They absolutely have the best coffee in Frederick. You can't go wrong with Illy coffee. Carmine and his wife are jewels and Frederick is luck to have them

Try Delizia - you'll thank me later! I've had several sandwiches which have all been fantastic but the star of the show in my opinion, are the pistachio croissants! If you like pistachios, trust me, you'll want to try these. I will make a special trip downtown just to get their croissants. They are happy to warm them for you also - the thought of them makes my mouth water!

I just ADORE this Italian cafe! It's spacious and beautifully decorated. The food is delicious and I love the lattes! (The lavender mint is not even something I imagined liking but it's so good!). Paninis and desserts are plenty! Stop by you won't be disappointed! Lovely owners too!

If you aren't having coffee or lunch here what are you doing? Best iced latte in Frederick for sure! The moment you walk in you are slapped in the face by aromas of vanilla and fresh baked bread that will make you want to eat every homemade pastry they have. Friendly staff, great coffee, delightful food.

This place was amazing! We came in with a large, last minute group & they were so kind in giving us space & menus!! The people were kind & the ambiance was amazing & comfortable!! Super affordable & a large range of food & drinks!!! Will definitely be coming back!!

Walked past this place and stopped because of how cute and bright it looked! Cute little cafe with good food! Lots of places to sit, staff was super friendly! We had the eggplant parm (special) and the panini! Any type of bread here is wonderful, fresh and hot! Will def be back!

We are always looking for a new breakfast palce and we found this nice little restaurant with friendly service. Had the breakfast sorrento and it was delicious! A portion so big I had to take some home and I'm a big eater. Wife had the breakfast montagna with procutto and pesto which was also wonderful. Great cappuccino too. We'll be back to try lunch or dinner.

I been wanting to try out Delizia cafe for some time because of their cute ambience but when I finally did and I was really disappointed with the service/attitude. There were four available baristas at the front desk, but it seems that all of them were reluctant to make an eye contact or approach me as I waved to grab attention in order to show my phone where I typed my order on BIG notes app. As the day turned into evening, they served Italian food, so I was looking forward to that. The waitress did not approach our table immediately nor respond to our visual bids of attention as compared to hearing customers. When we pointed our orders on the menu, there was awkwardness with the waitress as she uncomfortably walked backwards without putting down our orders. The lack of communication and deaf friendliness resulted in multiple misunderstandings and few wrong orders. We ended up leaving the restaurant with our bellies empty. This can be improved by being responsive to alternative communication methods. Being equally warm and humane to Deaf customers as workers usually are to hearing customers. Deaf customers have run into first-timers many times (hearing people who interact with us for the very first time), so do service individuals with a level of patience and openness. I do not usually type a review, however this restaurant did not try to mend things, so this is not a deaf-friendly business.

We came in from Michigan for the weekend To visit our son and decided to try this place out for breakfast We were not disappointed. All three of our plates were delicious. Highly recommend.

Poor display of dishes, so American & heavy on fries. Nothing special about their dishes. Environment doesn't appeal well in this business. Service is quite tolerable.

The best pasta I have ever had hands down. In fact I think it's ruined me for life. We had their lunch buffet with pasta and I had a lavender mint latte with oat milk. Everything exceeded expectations. Could not recommend Delizia's Cafe more.

Excellent food and drinks, fun atmosphere, warm and welcome owners! This is one of my favorite places to get a mocha from during the day and one of my favorite places to eat superb food for breakfast and dinner. Wonderful place to read and journal and also a great place to gather with family and friends. Not to be missed when you come to Frederick!

First time in Frederick. Mid March visiting my son and wife. This was absolutely the best food I've had in probably 7 years.For 35 years we lived in Westchester County,NY. We could go to Arthur Ave or buy products locally. This restaurant was exactly what I wished for but never thought I would find. I wanted to speak with the owner to tell him but he was very busy!! He and all the servers were simply lovely. Eggplant parmigiana was over the top, fresh,Fresh ingredients,perfect portions and beautifully plated. Caprese salad with made on premises mozzarella was outstanding. The ice coffee was just incredible. I'm so grateful to have been able to "stumble " upon this restaurant/coffee house. I've thought about this place nearly daily and I cannot wait to return to Frederick in September. My son brought me eggplant parm and same salad on our last night in Frederick. Everything was perfect when it arrived and surprisingly just as good!! Honestly, I had zero desire to go to any other restaurant. Remarkable and memorable. So sorry it took me so long to post this. BTW: completely handicapped accessible

We stopped in for a breakfast on Labor Day and sat outside with our two dogs. The food was wonderful - the croissant was warm and flaky, the scrambled eggs were fluffy and the mozzarella, salami and salad (with fresh parmesan) were reminiscent of an outdoor cafe in Italy. The lattes were creamy and the staff was very friendly. This will definitely be our go to restaurant for breakfast.

This place is Frederick in a nutshell. Friendly staff, friendly owners and great, authentic food. The vibe is great. Whoever wrote the one star review....you can't just sling out bad reviews when they aren't deserved. It's wrong and can damage a business's reputation. I've been to this restaurant dozens of times and have always felt the love. Thanks to all of you and drown out the hater :)

This café/restaurant is excellent! Finally a place in downtown Frederick with legit European espresso (reasonable price too)! The paninis are tasty and filling and there's a good size menu with drinks and other Italian style coffee shop drinks. There are also dinner meal options. Going to come back and try them next time. It's really clean, cozy, and the staff are very friendly.

Rather rude and unwilling to serve us. Would not recommend as they were rude and disrespectful. We walked out as the waitress was absolutely atrocious. Not going back.

AMAZING Italian food. The service was a little slow but we felt it was part of the Italian experience. The inside is beautiful and the staff was really nice.
