DelSur Empanadas—Minnetonka

We have been here a few times, and this is definitely a unique place for the area. Nice to see some unique ethnic food on this area. The empanadas are quite good. Had the ham & cheese and the caprese in past and are good. Really like the lomita sandwiches. The steak lomita was really good. Super flavorful the steak was very tender and the ham and cheese and chimicurri mayo made a well balanced and moist snadwich. I really like the thin bun they use. Definitely recommend. Staff is great and very friendly. A family owned place and the owners are there most of the time and interacting with the clientele. Lots of people going in and out, as well as staying in. Quick and easy pop-in food

Went here first time few days back. The owner lady was extremely sweet. She explained us about empanadas, gave our little girl a flag, spoke to us in general so kindly. It was out first time trying empanadas and we were very excited to see so many non meat options as we are vegetarians. Absolutely loved the place and food. Highly recommend it.

Always a positive experience with Del Sur, whether at the food truck or the Minnetonka location! I get a craving for their empanadas pretty frequently and have to pick up a few while I am catching up with friends a few doors away at unmapped! Seriously, these empanadas are the best around! My favorites are the ham and cheese, caprese, pork belly, and the sweet corn (but they are all delicious). The sauces are both amazing. Nothing but great things to say about Del Sur! The owners are so friendly and welcoming too 💚 thanks for being such an awesome part of this community! Much love to you all 💚

One of our favorites, we go there very often. Always delicious and fast. We love the empanadas, my favorite is the sweet corn. But recently have been getting their steak sandwich which is very good.

I loved the Empanadas. The chimichuri was very good! Nice clean place, very well lighted with sunlight. Hidden away in Minnetonka. This truly is a gem hiding. As far as I could see everyone was enjoying delicious Empanadas. The only negative was the lady attending the cash register, she was rude and obnoxious, very arrogant!

We were at Unmapped Brewery & looking for a snack, everyone suggested to go around the corner to DelSur & get a Lomito steak sandwich. It was fantastic, they are an Argentinian restaurant

My wife and I traveled here from St Paul to try the empanadas we've heard so much about. We saw the owners give a demo at the State Fair and we were excited to have an Argentinan dining experience. We were not disappointed! The food was very tasty, it was a fun atmosphere, and it was great to see the owners working hard alongside the rest of the staff. I would highly recommend the sweet beef and mushroom empanadas! This is also a great place for GF empanada options. I wish there were some GF sandwich options, but the empanadas were great!

I first was introduced to DelSur via a food truck event at work. Everyone was raving about each flavor they tried. So next I went to their Minnetonka location. What a cute little spot! And the empanadas were so good my husband kept going back to the counter to order more. I also ordered a few dozen frozen empanadas to serve up to the extended family on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. (Who wants to cook the day before cooking all day?). It was so easy, so delicious ! We have a few vegetarians in the family too so this was a hit with everyone with all the options. I can't wait to go back to try more! A few favs so far...Beef, Sweet Corn, Caprese, Mushroom, and Spinach. If you haven't tried this place yet, don't hesitate. (A glass of wine or beer avail too...make it a date night)

Del Sur is a perfect spot for when you don't feel like cooking but don't want to do a whole sit down restaurant thing, but you also don't want fast food. The empanadas are simply delicious. I've tried nearly every kind and my favorites are sweet corn, bbq chicken, ham and cheese. We also get the del sur salad to share. It has an excellent blend of veggies including hearts of palm, which I don't see too much but love! We've also had the alfajores for dessert and now they are a staple whenever we go. The staff is especially warm and friendly. We mostly get our order to go but they prep our food quick and we browse the little mini-market they have while we wait. Personally, I think the empanadas and alfajores are a bit pricy. 3.99 for a cookie the size of 2 Oreos is a little steep. I also only think the empanadas are a little overpriced bc other empanada places I go to charge the same price, but they're a bit more full and the ambiance of the restaurant warrants a full dinner service. Lastly, I ordered frozen empanadas for our friends who are new parents and I will say they were packaged perfectly, reheating instructions included, it was great for a drop off.

My 12 empanada Rodeowith Del Sur. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it! A bunch of Doughy & AIRY (pockets) Every empanada was 1/2 empty Every empanada was BLAND ( I tried 6 flavors). This is the kind of food that makes a grown man angry!! I had to apologize to my wife for bringing this ish home. Ps your small azz dips are LAME with no kick -or- zest. Start over dude - go back to the truck? I wouldn't eat these for Free! First and Last for me...

The service was fantastic! I was helped immediately and when I asked for a recommendation they had one for me. They recommend the Sweet Beef and the Sweet corn. Both were very tasty although a little cold. The outside of the empanadas look amazing although they were a little small for the price. This place is rated $ but it's at least a $$ location. I picked up so I don't haveich to say about the ambiance but it looked clean and we'll maintained. PS: Make sure you turn down the right street (Williston Rd), the drive in front of the restaurant is one way.

This last week, I took a co-worker to DelSur, we both got Chorizo sandwich with potatoes, my co-worker said these potatoes are on point and this sandwich is great. It was the third time I got that Sammy, very simple, but great. We also got the Tres leches cake, my friend said it possibly the best cake he has had! That evening my wife was jealous, so I had to ordered a dozen empanadas, the grilled chicken sandwich, and Tres leches cake!

I can't believe it took us this long to try this place. The service is amazing. The person that takes your order is as patient and welcoming as it gets. She will explain everything to you, give you recommendations, and make you feel welcomed. We couldn't decide on flavors so ended up ordering a dozen empanadas to try them all. Plenty of options for every taste. Don't sleep on some or the meat-free options... their caprese and spinach and cheese were our favorites, but they were all delicious. The ham and cheese packs SO much flavor (even though it looks so simple). The combination of cheeses really makes you want more of it! The place is ample and welcoming (we were told they expanded recently), and there's plenty of seating for everyone. Definitely an inviting place. We will be back soon to try their sandwiches! PS: they offer Tango lessons too, if you're feeling adventurous.

As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by a smiling face who was eager to ensure we knew how to order. We tried all of the available empanadas and appreciated every single one. We've tried many Argentinian empanadas and I'm generally disappointed by Ham & Cheese. Let me tell you - this was one of my absolute favorites of the day. They include flavorful cheeses, giving an empanada worth savoring. Another I generally shy away from is Caprese because I'm not a chunky tomato gal. This Caprese was incredibly flavorful, melted in my mouth, and really shined. Things to note: the menu rotates, you can purchase frozen empanadas to cook at home, and they offer tango lessons. You know the place is great when those working care, as much as an owner would, about how you enjoy your food.

Delicious! If you want to grab a bite to eat their or get some frozen this is the place to go! The staff are so kind and the place is cute. Love going to get frozen empanadas to make at home when I get a craving for this! My parents got me on this place a few years back and this has became a sample to keep in our house!

Although I have had empanadas before, I didn't care for them; what led me to try Del Sur will forever be a mystery but holy smokes I'm glad I did! I ordered a Spinach and a Corn empanada and both were bursting with flavor and gooey cheese. No salsa required! The crusts were flaky and thin, perfectly cooked and beautiful, unlike the thick empanadas I had elsewhere with a teaspoon of filling. Next I had the Del Sur Salad, chock full of goodness with spring greens, hearts of palm, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and a lick-the plate-good chimichurri vinaigrette. Absolutely delicious. Writing this review has my mouth watering, so time to place another order. :-D ***Update! I ordered more empanadas and a grilled cheese with roasted baby potatoes! I had five empanadas and there was a chart showing what each one was by the letters embossed on the corner of each.

We love everything about DelSur Empanadas!! The Filet sandwich, empanadas, and salad cannot be beat! The service is also amazing!

A strip-mall outlet of pure delight. These crusty flavorful empanadas are so so good and at $3.75 each a great deal. I especially liked the chorizo and the ham and cheese. They've got quite a few varieties. We've been here twice now and got a few frozen ones which were easy to heat in a toaster over (20 min) without any noticeable difference in quality from the ones we ate at the restaurant. There are two sauces that accompany-a seasoned sour cream and a chimichurri made with olive oil and herbs-both are great. They are situated in a small strip mall with a weird one-way parking lot but that's the only negative about this gem. Definitely worth the drive.

This Argentinian spot was nothing short of amazing. From the food, the lovely ambiance, the above and beyond service. I would absolutely love to come again and bring my family. The very kind woman behind the counter asked if it was our first time there We told her yes. She described all the different empanada flavors to us, shared the desserts they make, checked in on us a few times to make sure we were happy. She was so extremely kind. Now the empanadas were so good and freshly made! I started off with 1 mushroom empanada and 1 ham and cheese empanada, sooo good! Had to go back and get another ham and cheese. The chimichurri and spicy sour cream were a great touch and paired well with the empanadas. I took 3 frozen empanas home to my husband and cooked them in the air fryer. He was a huge fan of the caprese! Will absolutely be back!

DelSur rocks it again! I'm on a streak with a steak Lomitos and egg on two consecutive visits. Salad side to compensate for the egg. Next time I'm have a Lomitos for each hand. That good! Don't overlook the beautiful and taste tested cookies in the case to left of POS. Story has it made and sold by an employee. We are Tre Leches groupies, usually, but the cookies will make for dilemma next dessert decision. Thanks Team Del Sur. Your friendliness and top notch service leave no doubt in our minds we will be back.

Ok so 4 empanadas for one person might be a liiiitle aggressive but I NEEDED to try so many! If you're unsure about empanadas, start with the beef. It's the most traditional flavor (of the 4 I tried) and will remind you of Mexican or tacos based on the spices. The bbq chicken has some good smoky spice. Chicken is moist. Sweet corn is..well, sweet corn with red pepper and cheese. Smooth and sweet, it's a good change up to the menu. The chorizo was sadly my least favorite. I'm not sure if it was the chimichurri or the chorizo itself but it just didn't work for me. The chorizo is different than the Mexican chorizo I'm used to so maybe that's it. Service was fast and friendly. You order at the counter and then take a number to your table where you're served. Spacious enough dining room and tables outside that are shaded.

Last time I came here with a lady friend who is Vegetarian. We ordered a handful of emoanadas and enjoyed the vegetarian flavor. She lived in South America as a kid and ate authentic Emoanadas there frequently. She said she really like these as well. Today I went w savory. Charizo was different than I expected but was very good. They provide a yogurt type sauce in case it's spicy so you can mellow it. I would say nothing was too spicy. But flavorful for sure. Will let my brother and his wife know. I think they would enjoy it.

Come for the amazing food, stay for the superb service! The woman working behind the counter came out to greet us as we walked in and asked if we have been here before. First timers to this location, she took her time to explain everything on the menu and showed us around a bit. The restaurant has two dining areas, we sat back in the bar area and were taken care of from the moment we walked in to the time we left. There is a small Argentinian shoppe in the back of the restaurant as well as a case full of hand made cookies and desserts. They have a variety of beverages available both alcoholic and NA. We ordered a variety of empanadas and it's official, empanadas are hands down my new favorite food! I brought along my kids and they scarfed down the beef and caprese empanadas. Even my picky eater LOVED the food. We finished off with something sweet- Alfajor. I have always wanted to try these cookies and man have I been missing out! We decided we needed to order some empanadas to take home, and the woman let us know that they also offer frozen empanadas you can take home and bake when the craving hits. Plus they are 50 cents cheaper! I love everything about this place, and can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu!

DelSur has been on my list ever since I got a chance to try their empanadas from their food truck, and I'm blown away! The empanadas were delicious and fresh (the chorizo and the sweet corn were my favorite), service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was really fun! Plus, they have a frozen empanada takeaway menu so you can enjoy them at home. So glad I finally stopped in and tried them out in person, I'll be back to try more flavors soon! (PS - the new restaurant they opened next door, Tonka Pizza, is also fantastic!)

We just tried this place for the firs time, and amazing! We got the dozen so we could try each one and then a few extra, it was worth it (even great the next day). Our favorites were the bbq chicken, sweet beef, mushroom and chorizo! And - each one has their company name & a letter to let you know which empanada is which - super cute and a great idea! The service was nice and very fast. We also tried the tres leches cake and that was probably one of the best ones we ever had. I would certainly recommend going here, the prices are great and the food is yummy. Also, there is plenty of seating, the rooms are full or beautiful colors and murals! A must try spot, even if you have to drive a little ways.

Great quick lunch spot with a unique offering. Space is warm and inviting and the employees are super welcoming. Food is delicious too. Prices seem a bit lofty but I also think that's just the times. Definitely give them a shot and see for yourself!

Stopped here before work to get lunch and it was a great alternative to fast food. Paid about the same about. Service was quick! The interior is inviting, cute, and clean. I really loved the sauces served with the empanadas. The empanadas themselves were good and I'd like to try some other flavors. Very friendly team.

The very best choice for a speedy lunch! Ten minutes from the restaurant opening to being on our way to Paisley Park. The service was crazy-quick-- empanadas being the perfect ready-baked food if you are in a rush. The sweet beef are literal perfection, as is the chimichurri. Spacious seating areas and lots of Argentine pride in the decor.

Crispy golden pockets of dough with meat!!! Okay hat more could I ask for?? Plus the wonderful tang of the chimichurri!? I ran into Del Sur and the Hopkins food truck fest and brought one to my friend who had never tried them before! We both fell in love!!! And she returned to get more the very next day!!!

After I finally convinced my Brazilian husband to go to this Argentine restaurant (iykyk), he regrets not going sooner because these empanadas are amazing. Never dry, and the sauces that come with are delicious! Decently priced and they have a couple outdoor tables if you want to bring your pup.

Stopped in the other day for dinner. I have tried one of there empanada before at Malcolm Yards and was excited to check out there spot. It's fast casual in that you order at counter and get a number where they will serve you at whatever table you choose( they have a cute outdoor area). My friend ordered the chorizo lomito the chorizo comes in to large pieces looked like a hot dog split in half. They stated it was good but messy 4/5. I personally do not like olives and was disappointed to see they were in over half of the empanada options. I tried the spinach and feta 4/5 great vegetarian option, ham and cheese 3/5 was okay want highly impressed and Buffalo chicken 4/5

Awesome empanadas! We had the caprese, mushroom, bbq chicken and chorizo. All were delicious. Great service and clean atmosphere. All the staff are really nice. It was a our first time here and we will be back during our trip.

The service is friendly and quick . Place is clean and welcoming . The empanadas are so-so and little over priced ...the filling didn't have too much flavour , dipping sauce same kind of bland , they are baked and somewhat dry . I like my empanadas fried or little less dry. Wish they had little more onion or garlic or any kind of spice flavour or even hot sauce . My empanada expectations were pretty high though as I tried all different ones from different countries in nyc. If you never had an empanada then you might enjoy these . Worth a try if you never had an empanada, but it's a pass for me .

Love this little spot in Glen Lake. Grab a few to take to the brewery or a bag to take home. A friend had their party catered with DS empanadas and it was a hit. They're authentic and delicious, if you're in the west side give them a try. A family favorite of ours. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, cannot recommend it enough.

With the option to quickly takeout their yummy empanadas or eat in and enjoy the quaint interior, you can't go wrong here. This spot has become a regular on my rotation in the Hopkins/Minnetonka area. Buy one or a dozen of their empanadas and you'll be satisfied OR take some frozen one's home to make at your next event or gameday party. Sweet Beef is the best in my opinion, but they are all unique and tasty. Plus, the Mayo that comes on the side is arguably the best part :) I'd love to see them play around with a specialty empanada each month or add additional flavors...I come so often that I'm looking for a switch-up!

Every empanada there is fantastic!! My favorite: the mushroom. YUM. I've also had their food truck at a graduation party and the empanadas were just as good there. Definitely go for the empanadas over the sandwiches!

Soooooo if you like fresh and you love empanadas then this is a must hit! Tucked in a strip mall you would easily pass it if you didn't know it was here! If you pass it then it's your loss! They have around a dozen types of empanadas and 3 for $10 is a great value! If you have a few to feed you can get a dozen for $36 which is a steal! The do have outside seating to help or you can just pick some up and take with you! Either way you win! The empanadas are fluffy and packed with flavor and yummy ness! I ordered the spinach, caprese and chorizo! The caprese was solid but definitely not my favorite! As someone who loves meat I sadly admit that the spinach one was ridiculously the best one but the chorizo was not shabby at all! It fought hard but spinach with the chipotle sauce is like.....well it's like winning the Mega Millions lotto and someone giving you a whole cake at the same time! It's that good! So next time you are in Minnetonka or within 1000 miles of Minnetonka you need to direct your GPS to stop here! I'll definitely be back! I haven't had too many empanadas before, so when I heard about DelSur Empanadas, I had to try it out! I ordered a beef empanada, which came out warm within seconds. It was super tasty! Lots of really flavorful filling, with a lovely flaky pastry. I also enjoyed the sauce that came with it. Service was friendly and quick, so no complaints there! This was a quick stop but it's a really cute place and I'd love to try more of their empanadas.

If you are looking for a delicious, true Argentina empanada. This is a place to go traditional fillings, as well as made from scratch at the location.

We did a take-out order of four different kinds of empanadas. The sauces that come with the empanadas are delicious! Our favorite empanada overall was the Caprese. Fantastic flavor & texture! A must try.

Yes please! Let me start by saying that I love Argentinian empanadas. I used to have these all the time when I lived in Chicago, and so we had to try them when we were visiting MN. We ordered the beef, bbq chicken, spinach, and corn. The bbq and spinach were our top two! The corn was great as well. We enjoyed them so much we had to go back for seconds! The only downside if you're not eating them as a snack...they're pricey. Four empanadas we're about $16-18. If you're eating these as a meal you're probably going to need 3-4. It's a great snack though and pairs very well with coffee. I also loved the chimi sauce!

Great empanadas served in a fun & casual atmosphere. They also have some pretty tasty homemade desserts.

The empanadas here are so good!! I love the corn one because it has bell peppers in it too. The crust is not too thick. The sauces pair well with the empanadas. They come out fast too, so if you need a quick bite, this is the spot to go to at Malcom yards.

Hidden gem in Minnetonka. Had dinner with my girlfriends and to our surprise a tango dance class was in session! We had dinner and watched everyone have the time of their life ! Such a blast. Also I want to give a shout out to the owner, he is so kind and interactive with clients. He wasn't afraid to pick up our dirty plates or walk to our table several times to make sure we didn't need anything. The energy in here was so positive. Thank you for the kind and loving service.

We ordered delivery from DelSur. Our order came right on time. We had grilled cheese sandwiches and empanadas. Everything was great including the sauces. I'm sure we'll order from them again.

The staff (and even maybe owner who is there frequently) are pretty unwelcoming and unfriendly. Each time I go I feel like they couldn't care less about their customers. It is a very small place in a small strip mall. They don't really smile or say hello when you go up to their counter. I'm not sure but they may just be heating up pre-made pieces when ordered. I once ordered ahead for pickup and selected a time for the pickup. When I arrived for my food at the correct time I was told matter-of-factly it would be at least 20 minute as if it was no big deal. That was the final straw. I won't be going back. Other than that, the empanadas are tasty, but small and not very filling. Need at least 2 for even a small eater. Sauces they give with then are not that interesting.

Wasn't sure at first because I had never had an empanada. Let me tell you, they were soon good! The helpful staff were great at advising me on the different choices! Next time in town I will definitely be back!

TL; DR: Solid offering but steep price point and limited parking. I'll start by saying that I don't dole out five star reviews. Four stars for me means I really enjoyed the meal but didn't find it out of this world or magical. That's how I feel about Delsur. I enjoyed the empanadas I tried more than chicken-lomito sandwich. Definitely check out the beef and chorizo empanadas which were true highlights. I didn't love the ham & cheese or bbq chicken options but they were okay. I found the customer service (I believe it was the owner) passable but not the warmth or friendliness you'd expect from a small business owner.

I was craving something different and found this place on the way to Boom Island Brewing. This is an authentic Argentinian empanada place, and the empanadas were delicious. You can get a set of 3 for $10, and all three I had (chicken, chorizo, beef) were delicious. Located in a strip mall so plenty of parking, and it looked like they were doing a nice takeout business.
