The 38 Best Restaurants in Mumbai, India - Eater

"In the bylanes of Fort sits Deluxe, one of the few places you can enjoy a Kerala-style vegetarian sadhya lunch on a banana leaf. Both the avial (mixed vegetables cooked with coconut and yogurt) and the parippu (lentil curry) are worth second helpings. Order a plate of prawn fry and karimeen fry (pearlspot fish) as sides. Don’t be afraid to eat with your hands; it’s the only way to enjoy the meal." - Sumedh Natu

If you're looking for authentic Kerala cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute gem! The dishes are incredibly genuine, reflecting the rich culinary traditions of Kerala. They take great care in ensuring that every meal is served with attention to detail. One of the highlights is their Sunday special menu, which features a wide array of traditional Kerala dishes. The fish served here is seasonal, ensuring freshness, while the non-vegetarian options are among the best you’ll find, bursting with flavor and authenticity. For vegetarian diners, the "Veg Sandhya" meal is a delightful choice, offered at a very reasonable price. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall dining experience. It's also worth noting that the owner is often present, working alongside the team, which adds a personal touch to the service. While parking space is limited, the restaurant is located in the inner lanes, and Google Maps provides accurate directions. Be prepared for a bustling atmosphere during peak hours, as this place can get quite crowded—an indication of its popularity! Additionally, they offer some authentic Kerala items for purchase, such as homemade pickles, allowing you to take a piece of Kerala home with you. Dining here truly feels like a slice of Kerala in the heart of Mumbai. I had a fantastic experience and can’t wait to return!

Genuinely fresh, tasty food with endless refills for the Sadhya banana leaf thali - like eating at someone's home. The fried prawns on the side make a good complement to the vegetarian meal. In this hot weather, sit in the upstairs AC room. The price is a tiny bit more but it is so worth it.

We went to Delux Restaurant for our date lunch and absolutely loved it! Everything we ordered was spot-on. CH Basher, the head here, was super warm and made us feel right at home. My wife is from Kerala, and getting that authentic Kerala taste right here in Mumbai was such a surprise. We had the Kerala Veg Sadhya, Chicken Fry Biryani, and Netholi Fry. Daaaamm!! it was a feast! Every dish was full of flavor and felt like a little trip back to Kerala. Totally recommend this place, a must-visit! They have got non-spicy options too, and it’s really pocket-friendly.

Amazing authentic Kerala food! The Avial preparation is truly reminiscent of the one in northern parts of Kerala. Feels like home cooked food. The fish fry was also extremely fresh. Service is also quick and prompt.

Worst dining experience they don’t even clean prawns don’t have it’s unhealthy, also they sever sambar and rasam in small tiny paper tea cups very shabby the ac water keeps dropping in your food or on your self and the staff just dosent care and even the uncle — please don’t waste your time - if you paying money get good food and good service

We as family and friends are going to this place since 2016, (more than 9 years!) and it’s worth visiting, we generally go to this place in weekend for Sadhya and during week days we try se food such as Nadan Fish curry, Surmai Tawa Fry and Prawn tawa fry. Do try chicken biriyani, Parantha and chicken nadan curry, chicken Chettinad. People from south if at all you are bored definitely try chatti choru ❤️!

Loved the 'Karimeen Pollichatu', 'Nadan Fish curry' and the 'Palada'. The Kerala Alleppey fish curry was also a nice preparation. This is a legendary place for some fabulous, soulful Kerala food. Newly refurbished, looks nice from outside. I would urge Mr. Basheer who attended to us to please change the photos on Google, so that people will not miss the restaurant on account of the renovation. The main entrance looks so different now.
