The 38 Best Restaurants in Mumbai, India - Eater

"In the bylanes of Fort sits Deluxe, one of the few places you can enjoy a Kerala-style vegetarian sadhya lunch on a banana leaf. Both the avial (mixed vegetables cooked with coconut and yogurt) and the parippu (lentil curry) are worth second helpings. Order a plate of prawn fry and karimeen fry (pearlspot fish) as sides. Don’t be afraid to eat with your hands; it’s the only way to enjoy the meal." - Sumedh Natu

Here’s a clean, natural, Google-friendly review you can post: Absolutely loved my experience at Hotel Deluxe! If you’re craving authentic Kerala food in Mumbai, this place is a must-visit. The flavours are spot-on — from the Kerala parotta to the chicken curry and seafood dishes, everything tasted fresh and homestyle. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the service is warm and quick. The ambience is simple, but the food more than makes up for it. Perfect spot for a satisfying, no-nonsense Kerala meal in the Fort area. Highly recommended!

I could not resist ordering dishes with Surmai fish prawns laccha paratha various chutneys they provided amazing food being the oldest restaurant and still maintains their charm. Keep it up Deluxe. You can't miss the Surmai, can you? Go for it!

A Delicious Hidden Gem in Fort. We had an absolutely incredible meal at Delux Kerala Restaurant,it was perfectly cooked, fresh, and perfect blend of spice and not too much chilli for us. The dishes, like the spicy Kerala fried chicken bites and the creamy vegetable curry, were delicious, and fish we wish we had ordered more. A truly authentic and satisfying experience. Highly recommended if you're in the Fort area. Thanks Team!

We had the: 1. Squid fry - 10/10; really good 2. Surmai tawa fry - 4/10; the surmai wasn't soft at all 3. Veg sadhya - 7/10; solid

We went to Delux Restaurant for our date lunch and absolutely loved it! Everything we ordered was spot-on. CH Basher, the head here, was super warm and made us feel right at home. My wife is from Kerala, and getting that authentic Kerala taste right here in Mumbai was such a surprise. We had the Kerala Veg Sadhya, Chicken Fry Biryani, and Netholi Fry. Daaaamm!! it was a feast! Every dish was full of flavor and felt like a little trip back to Kerala. Totally recommend this place, a must-visit! They have got non-spicy options too, and it’s really pocket-friendly.

The food was very good. Even though I’m in Bombay, it felt like I was in Kerala. Very authentic Kerala food and good service.

Fantastic and delicious “real” Indian experience, highly recommend! Also despite the simplicity, it was very clean and used hygienic practices.

If you're looking for authentic Kerala cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute gem! The dishes are incredibly genuine, reflecting the rich culinary traditions of Kerala. They take great care in ensuring that every meal is served with attention to detail. One of the highlights is their Sunday special menu, which features a wide array of traditional Kerala dishes. The fish served here is seasonal, ensuring freshness, while the non-vegetarian options are among the best you’ll find, bursting with flavor and authenticity. For vegetarian diners, the "Veg Sandhya" meal is a delightful choice, offered at a very reasonable price. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall dining experience. It's also worth noting that the owner is often present, working alongside the team, which adds a personal touch to the service. While parking space is limited, the restaurant is located in the inner lanes, and Google Maps provides accurate directions. Be prepared for a bustling atmosphere during peak hours, as this place can get quite crowded—an indication of its popularity! Additionally, they offer some authentic Kerala items for purchase, such as homemade pickles, allowing you to take a piece of Kerala home with you. Dining here truly feels like a slice of Kerala in the heart of Mumbai. I had a fantastic experience and can’t wait to return!
