I am writing to express my dissatisfaction and frustration with the smoked turkey we purchased for Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey was severely burnt, dry, and not edible after trying, this ruined our holiday meal and was an embarrassment because I failed to inspect it before leaving. I expected a high-quality product but instead received one that was not up to standard - subpar that the rats would pass in disgust. This experience was very disappointing... The main course was ruined because of your company, and I announced it loudly, Dem 2 Brothers! If you needed $90.59 that bad, I would have gave it to you

Tried almost everything except the kitchen sink. Upon arriving the vibe you received was warm and positive. I ordered ribs, chicken and all sides except greens since none were available today. Ribs were flavorful and juicy as well as the chicken. The sides spoke for them self’s and all full of flavor and well executed. If I’m back in the area again, I’ll definitely make it a point to connect here and dine. Only thing missing in the pic was the sweet potato casserole. If you’re not sure about stopping, DON’T second guess yourself and have the experience.

Fantastic food with very few smiles. The BBQ is terrific, but they don't seem to be happy serving this fantastic product. The brisket was moist, and the ribs were thin but delicious. Whole ribs, not baby backs. Potato salad and beans were my sides, and they were terrific. Lots of takeout business here. They should be very proud to be serving this food.

Great find on our trip back south. Dem 2 Bros & a Grill. Best BBQ I’ve had in a while. Brisket was perfect, chicken breast very tasty. Baked beans & potato salad both prepared very well. Our server was married to one of Dem brothers. She blamed him for being out of Ribs, my only disappointment at this stop. Plenty of food for us big boys. And priced very fairly.

Oh let me tell you, this is the real deal! Best meal I had during my short visit to West Virginia. Dem 2 Brothers And A Grill is smoking up some great grub. I ordered the 2 meats and 2 sides platter. I got the pork ribs and the pulled pork. I caught them right at opening so many of the sides weren't available yet for the day but was happy to get a double order of the Mac n cheese. The meal came with a couple slices of bread and came out quick. The ribs were very tender and so flavorful, as was the pulled pork. They are perfectly smoked and the portions are very generous. They asked me if I wanted the regular sauce or the spicy. As always, I went for the spicy and danggggg, it is hot! I love hot food, so was good for me but be warned, this sauce is not for the weak. I wasn't expecting a Nashville hot level of heat in this sauce but it complimented the meat well. I also ordered the chicken wings and they were delicious. Crispy, meaty and big, the way any good wings should be. I had a ton of food leftover, which hit perfect after the concert I attended later that evening. I highly recommend this joint. If I'm ever back in the area, I can't wait to go dig in again! Thank you for the hospitality and delicious food.

Ordered 2 meats and 2 sides online in my daughter's name. Ribs, pulled pork sandwich, baked beans and sweet potato. We're on a trip to North Carolina and picked it up along the way. When I went in to pick up the order the women gave it to me and turned around and left. Not very friendly. I always leave a cash tip on take out orders. Maybe next time I'll be able to leave a cash tip. The BBQ was excellent! Highly recommend their delicious food!

Google
I was super hoping this would be an amazing BBQ restaurant. I have been to quite a few bbq restaurants, and sadly, I was not impressed. Now my husband really liked the meat. We ordered the 2 meat and 2 side combo's. Both with pulled pork and ribs, potato salad, and mac and cheese. The pulled pork was on a bun, and for some, that's probably just fine. I, however, didn't order a sandwich, so I didn't want a bun. I think the pulled pork needed more sauce. The potato salad was not to our liking at all, and my husband rarely doesn't like food. It was runny and very sour like. The Mac and cheese was better than the potato salad but was lacking on sauce also. Too dry. As with every restaurant and every person-some people may like the food so if you haven't tried it, give it a try for yourself and decide.

On recommendation from my son, walked down to Dem 2 Brothers And A Grill BBQ on Charlestons’s west side. It was ABSOLUTELY worth it! Definitely one of the top BBQ choices in Charleston, WV! You’ll enjoy a laid back homey vibe, smooth RnB playing, a steady stream of locals picking up takeaway orders, a small bar in the back being enjoyed quietly and flat panels aplenty to look at between bites. Staff greeted me upon entry and showed me to the dining area where I ordered promptly. Service is fast and locally friendly. I felt right at home. The food: Pulled pork BBQ sandwiches with moist, smokey pork, sweet and spicy sauce provided on the side, killer baked beans and sweet potato casserole were all delicious. The slaw was good. Sweet tea perfect. Prices are not ‘cheap’ but more than reasonable based on the quality of food. When you’re cravin’ smokey BBQ, head to the West Side and pop in to Dem 2 Brothers And A Grill BBQ. You’ll not regret it.

Yelp
Great food. Great service! First and foremost, I am from Washington DC. I stayed in Huntington for some months during 2020-21 to spend time with my granny. I was craving BBQ really bad. I asked my uncle about a few local spots and he just frowned his face. Came to Yelp looking for Black owned BBQ and Dem 2 Bros was the only legit Black owned spot -- an hour's drive. OMG, the food was superb!! Even the sides!! Ever since then, I align my travel time to WV to slide through Charleston while they're open (I prefer night driving so that is REALLY saying something). My only wish is that they were open later. But I am ecstatic to learn on my last visit that they have opened two more locations. Pictured: We were cutting it close to them closing. She knew we were from DC and got turned around (new location). She came out to meet us with our food to us . I forgot to photograph the food because when we arrived home, we were starving.

Yelp
Driving from Virginia to Kentucky we stopped in here for a quick lunch. The staff were all wonderful and offered great suggestions. The food was delicious. We had pork, brisket, Mac and cheese, green beans, cabbage, fries and baked beans. All were excellent! It was a beautiful day so we enjoyed sitting outside on the porch. We were excited to meet the owner as well. Definitely worth a stop - excellent food and excellent service!

Yelp
Dem 2 Brothers and a Grill is a 5/5 don't get me wrong, but it is the LOWEST 5/5 I've ever given in my Yelp Career. Let's do it. Pros: - Amazing tasting chicken. I've never had chicken that's ever tasted like this before. Perfectly smoky and just hit a perfect spot. Some of the best chicken I've had period. - Fries. They have the weirdest fries I've ever had in my life. They're like potato wedges that are spiraled. Regardless, they're seasoned perfectly. - Mac and Cheese. Really, really, solid. Not as amazing as the chicken/fries, but still really dang good. - BBQ sauce is my style. Sweet, sticky, smoky, and brown. Get that Carolina Gold and Vinegar based crap out of here. - Presentation. The food was presented well. Cons: - Portions. When I think of BBQ I think of leaving feeling full. I left feeling full, but not full for the day. I wanted a lot more chicken and the mac and cheese feels like it comes in a shot glass (really like a cough syrup cup portion). I want more! My wife weighs 110 pounds and wanted more food as well. - Dingy. Inside is super dingy. I know that's not the point, but the inside looks like it needed a facelift a decade ago. It doesn't have that "cool dive" dingy, just old/outdated/stuff starting to tear. - Menu. The menu is limited. I wish they had more items (because everything was so cooked so well). I'd love to see them add hushpuppies or maybe even onion rings. Do I recommend it? Yeah. It's a 5/5. I recommend anyplace that's a 5/5. I just wish you got more because I'm a hungry boy. I went way out of my way to come here and it was amazing.

David R.

Yelp
Food was spectacular - 5/5 - ribs were excellent, hot and mild sauces delicious, sidewinder fries had the kids asking why fries aren't always like this. Experience was not great - 2/5 - one of the two locations was closed for renovations without any indication on the website. We then went to the 2nd location where there was no functioning AC in July, which meant the whole place was hot and humid. Staff were kind and helpful, but we got our order to go because we didn't want to sit in a sauna for lunch.

Howard K.

Yelp
This location seems to be closed. I stopped by during normal business hours and it is closed

Kent K.

Yelp
I had 1/2 slab and 2 side combo @ $28.60. The fries potato was crispy and just fried. Taste great. Coleslaw was small volume and not too strong, adequate creamy sauce, I recommend. But meat! Two pieces were ok. Not hot at all but I can STILL eat. But the rest, 80% of rib were dry, chewy (dry chewy), and not warm at all. I don't think it's worth to come here paying close to $30 for this meal.... I'm so disappointed. It's 12:30 so the meat should be hot and tender soft. I'm sure they kept mine too long after cook and I got one of those. I told about it to one of the waitress but she didn't care. This is pay first system. I don't recommend to come here. I gave two stars for fried potato and coleslaw. For the meat 0.5 stars.

Yelp
WOW!! This place has some of the best BBQ/soul food we've ever had! They are located right off the expressway as you're traveling through Charleston. We're headed to Michigan and we wanted a delicious lunch. I placed our order on their website and selected the time for pickup. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with Texas toast on the side instead of a bun. I liked that they had that option. And I selected a combo of all of the sauces as a choice. It was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. For my sides I had the mac and cheese and the sweet potato casserole. My boyfriend ordered the brisket sandwich with Texas toast on the side, mac and cheese and potato salad. He got a side of sweet BBQ sauce, but he said next time he would get the sauce combo I had. The mac and cheese has a hint of sweetness, nutmeg maybe? It was really good. And the sweet potato casserole is beyond reproach. It's a must order. The potato salad was damn good too. Our meats were cooked perfectly. I liked the bark on the brisket and the fact that there was hardly any fatty portions of pork. We're definitely going to be back! I have barely digested my food and I'm already writing a review!

Cindi R.

Yelp
Every trip South is timed so we have either lunch or dinner here. This trip I split the one pound of pulled pork with the sweet BBQ sauce with my son. My side was the collard greens. Looks like spinach but better!! They were smoking meat out back when we came in. I was hungry just thinking about coming here. Then I was famished with one sniff. The food network has also been here. I've seen and read numerous fan favorite reviews.

David E.

Yelp
Great service and great BBQ ribs and brisket in downtown Charleston! They have much more room than their previous location. I had the ribs and my wife had the brisket. We will definitely be back for our next trip to Charleston next year.

Eugenia M.

Yelp
Delicious pulled pork and brisket. Sides are good too. I've had collard greens and sweet potato. Easy on the taste buds. Service is walk up.

Cecil P.

Yelp
Very pleasant experience. I stopped for lunch with some colleagues. We had different orders and we all very happy. The service was very good to excellent.

Cherri H.

Yelp
I read about this place about 5 years ago. I was pleased when my husband was up to try it. It's a "hole in the wall" kind of place. Old building that's been put to good use with a very simple business. I think the menu was on a wall-size blackboard in a room with a counter and about 6 chairs. A young man came in to take our order and we seated ourselves. Seating is just a large room with plain old-school tables and chairs scattered around. In the back is an open door to a bar. Our server, the grill-master was kind and attentive. The wait for our food wasn't long and boy were we surprised by portion size. There was probably half a lb of pork on my husband's minced bbq pork sandwiches. My ribs were meaty and fabulous. The sides are home-made and really delicious. I'd highly recommend this place. But don't expect frou-frou cuisine or ambiance. It's ALL about food and folks.

Mikaela B.

Yelp
I was sadly not blown away. I will say the pulled pork and the sides were excellent, but the brisket really missed the mark for me. It was very lean and not tender. The pulled pork was good and I enjoyed the sauce. I would try the ribs if I went back. The service unfortunately wasn't the best either. We asked where to pay and our server told us to go to the front, but we didn't get a check. We stood there and waited a little while and another employee had to go get our server to bring our checks and ring us up. There was several other groups waiting as well. I think maybe a toast system to checkout at the table would be helpful here.

Seth H.

Yelp
We tried both locations and the BBQ (pulled pork and brisket sandwiches) and sides (fries, cabbage, collard greens, mac & cheese, baked beans) were all delicious. The food was served quickly and the staff was friendly. The newest location near the Civic Center has table service with more upscale decor and it's open later (but check the website for hours). I had plenty to eat with a sandwich and side combo, plus sweet tea.

Kelly M.

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service was great and I love how the place was decorated.

Cori W.

Yelp
So this review is my Hubs review of their food truck at the Friday Live on the river shows. Hubs got ribs to take back to our hotel. He rated them as some of the best ribs he had ever had. Chewy, yet perfectly tender. He likes it spicy, so he got the hottest sauce they offer. Too bad we didn't get a chance to go to their dine in restaurant in the area. If we are ever back there, it will be a must stop place for dinner.

Trecia S.

Yelp
Extremely Good pulled Pork sandwich Medium had just the right amount of heat...and coleslaw on Top made for a perfect bite Service was awesome felt like a home welcoming missed hvn the banana pudding but gives us a reason to come back soon....

Anthony R.

Yelp
There are no bad hints to say about this place. The food is divine. The service was quick and very friendly. Bri was our server and she was great. Answering all questions we had about the establishment. She informed us of the new location that they hope to open in a couple of months. With Covid, they were able to have a stand at a festival down the road. We always plan on eating here/there whenever we drive near. We are already counting down until our next trip here. The pork is so succulent and sweet sauce adds a wonderful flavor. So many great things about this restaurant. If you're passing by and even have a small liking of bbq, I highly recommend this spot!

Angela H.

Yelp
Pulled pork and spicy sauce had good flavor but it was served cold, like out of the refrigerator cold. Not a welcoming atmosphere. Might have considered 3 stars if they offered access to a microwave to heat the food up.

Karen N.

Yelp
Food was so good! I went on a whim on my way back to South Carolina from Ohio. First good barbecue I've had in years. Get the brisket!

Kasey M.

Yelp
For a small bbq place in wv, it was great! We went when there wasn't really a crowd and we got everything very quick and everything was hot and fresh

Rhianna S.

Yelp
Omg this was the best meal I've had in a long time! We carried the food out but the girl on the phone to get the order was very sweet! The best place and best meal. I wish I would've gotten a picture!

Eric R.

Yelp
Smoked BBQ Brisket with greens and Mac and cheese...need I say more? Dem Two brothers have the Best BBQ chicken! I could eat there everyday and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and excellent food. Hats off to the local owners running a Great family business

Amanda B.

Yelp
The brisket is AMAZING! Ask for the burnt ends! The sides are just as good too. Sweet potato casserole, Mac & cheese, and their version of fries were our favorites. The staff are super friendly as well. We went out of our way on a road trip to eat here and it was well worth it.

Deborah G.

Yelp
1 star for service, and because zero is not an option. Food is always good, but not so much anything else. They completely forgot to fill an order that was called in at 11:00am for a 4:30pm pickup. And, on top of that, staff at both locations (because we tried to get more sides at the other restaurant) were rude to my fellow co-workers, as if it were our fault. They were ignored for so long that we finally had to leave and go back to our office meeting nearly empty handed. No amount of good food can make up for that.

Bill G.

Yelp
Awesome meal, great location and service. Had the pulled pork with slaw. Want to try the brisket next trip.

Diane C.

Yelp
This place has a good truck in the summer months by the river. Give them a try! Great barbecue. Their sides are the best too.

Tim T.

Yelp
Wife and I enjoyed early dinner at downtown Charleston location. Both the brisket and pulled pork were outstanding - with mixed/medium bbq sauce. Sides all delicious with fries and Mac & cheese leading the offerings. Good service as well. We highly recommend !

Heather H.

Yelp
Great food! First time here and parking was hard..lots of meters on this side of town so if you know a place you can park and not pay that's good. Ok..we all got one meat plates. All different meats to sample. Son got beef brisket..gf got pulled pork and I got chicken breast. All the meats where huge portions and very tender. The bbq sauce was homemade and they had sweet, spicy and combo of both. Gf and I got combo and son got hot. You could feel the kick of the peppers for certain! Sides where sidewinder fries, potato salad, Mac and cheese, and baked beans. All great and banana pudding for dessert. Meals where reasonable 11.99 for our meals each and pudding 4.99...definitely a place to return too or stop in if your local. Waitress and staff all very friendly and personable.

Diane C.

Yelp
They have the best barbecue in town. Their sides are so yummy. Cute, fun place. Service is good too. It's worth stopping by. A fun experience.

Nathan N.

Yelp
The first time we went, I asked for Ribs. They didn't have ribs. So I ordered the chicken. When I requested collard greens, they didn't have that either. The service was very slow, about 20 minutes. The second time we went, i asked if there were collard greens. No, and no cooked cabbage, either. So, I ordered a West Virginia hot dog. The menu says, and it is custom, the dogs come with slaw. When the order (again, very slow) finally came, there was no slaw. I asked what happened to the slaw. "OH, we didn't have any," The waitress said. WHY didn't she tell me that before? Why can't I have the food as it is stated on the menu? Why couldn't she tell me that before so I could enjoy the food I wanted? We won't go back. They are poorly prepared and when we asked where the food was (after 15 minutes) the waitress curtly saud, "Its being prepared." If you're white and criticize, you're called a racist. I was one of very few whites in Ben's Chili Bowl on U Street in D.C. until Obama ate there. NOT a racist, here.

Dee A.

Yelp
Great service, good eats! From out town, first time visitor. Got the recommended brisket and some wings. Our server was very cool, and the food was okay. The highlight of the meal, surprisingly was their Sriracha style sauce, it went good on everything.

Glenda W.

Yelp
After reading other reviews we decided to have a late lunch here. So glad we did. Some of the best barbecue we have ever had. The pork was cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing. The sweet potato casserole was perfect. The employees were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this restaurant! If you are in the area don't miss it!

Alyssa T.

Yelp
So happy to have had the chance to finally try Dem 2 Brothers! I placed an order for pick up and it was ready very quickly. We ordered ribs, brisket, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, and the baked beans. We loved everything- especially the brisket and baked beans. My husband said this is the best brisket he has ever had! We will definitely be back.

Esther W.

Yelp
We have a new favorite place to eat on our way from Virginia to Kentucky! The pulled pork sandwich was quite large and the meat tender with some crispy bits. The sauce was delicious - sweet and tangy! Adding the coarsely grated creamy cole slaw to the sandwich made it perfect! Yelp reviewers did not let us down! And it's easy to get off and back on the interstate. We'll definitely be back!

Nathaniel M.

Yelp
I've enjoyed the BBQ here. The Mac n cheese, greens and pulled pork sandwich are excellent. The ribs are sometimes a little too salty but the sauce on them is delicious. Great staff!

C Deno S.

Yelp
Some of the best ribs anywhere in the city! Local and family owned, and it shows. Highly recommended.

Tonya S.

Yelp
I'm on deployment in Charleston, WV. I'm not a high soul food person but two of my co-workers went to eat there and they loved it. My co-worker had the wings and he raved about them. My other co-worker had two meat plate brisket and pulled pork with two sides. She had the pudding. She was done with her entire plate before he got his order of wings. The wings are cooked to order and he loved them. I decide to take a trip their and I was treated by a really nice lady who was so helpful with me making my decision. I ordered the brisket with 3 sides cabbage was one of them but they didn't have anymore so I went with collard greens they were okay. North Carolina has the best collard Ijs!! The green beans we're banging and they gave it to me in that small ass container. I wish I had got double greens beans great flavor. I'm a veggie person. My 3rd side was sweet potato casserole would've been better if there was more sweet potato then the crunchiness and pecans. The brisket was banging very tender with and the sauce had a nice kick to it, very leveled out. I also ordered the pudding but I found it to be too sweet but it definitely homemade. A guy came in the lady behind the counter says to him, you were here yesterday. He said yes, she asked him if he called in his order in, he said yes. She was like you like those wings. I said they that good. The guy was like they are so good. I asked if they were smoked she said no they are deep-fried but it must be something special they are doing. They also cook to order. So I really have to stop by and try them before I leave home. I will definitely recommend everyone to try Dem 2 Brothers and try some good soul food. Oh, and they have sweet tea. To all my yelpers let's continue to eat our way through the world. #FOODIE4LIFE!!

Jeremy W.

Yelp
The pulled pork that I ate had some many bones and cartilage that it was almost inedible. The ribs and sides were pretty good. The bbq was good. The smell along th neighborhood was amazing. Would have rated it 4 to 4.5 if the pork bbq wasn't so bad. I am sure I just got a bad piece of meat but I fed my sandwich to my dogs bc of it.

Shelli C.

Yelp
I dont want to be that person but Im gonna be. This place was FIRE when it first opened but it is apparent over the years they have changed their seasoning to appeal to the demographic and most of their business. Its almost bland anymore but hey they're making their money but come on... season the meat and food like u did before you blew up!!

Dawn A.

Yelp
Dem 2 Brothers is the best of Charleston, WV. You cannot help but be impressed by these hardworking individuals. They know how to deliver quality food and customer service! If you haven't tried this great place to come sit and have a bite to eat, I encourage you to stop in and see what you're missing!

Jeff L.

Yelp
After living in the south for most of my life and now living in sad ohio I forgot how good good food can be. If you're in town, or want to drive just go. Do it.

Carmen J.

Yelp
Great food and service. We went here on our way to OH and could not have been happier that this was our mid point. Literally everything we ordered was delicious. I had pulled pork and my husband had the famous brisket. Can't go wrong with either. I just wish there were more actual bananas in my banana pudding

Daniel M.

Yelp
Fun find on our way to New River Gorge! Great BBQ, but the sweet tea will give you type 1, 2, 3, and all other types of diabetes! Wayyyyyyy too sweet

Cherry O.

Yelp
Really good BBQ. No wonder they were featured on the Food Network! Loved the flavor of the bbq ribs sandwich with 3 sides for lunch. The choice was with a bun or Texas Toast. I got mild and hot. I got 3 sides, greens, mac and the sidewinder fries. Of all 3 my favorite were the sidewinder fries and the Mac & Cheese was very good. I didn't get the sweet potato casserole, but my coworkers ordered it and I was able to try and it was yummy.

Rex S.

Yelp
From Texas and we thought we'd try some WVa BBQ. It was great and will be back next time we visit family!

Lorie M.

Yelp
Absolutely great food a must eat especially sweet potatoes casserole some of the best I have ever had

Jen F.

Yelp
What a great find! This is a no frills place that is serious about BBQ! The inside is very clean, but not huge (maybe a dozen tables?). I can see where it could fill up quickly during lunch or dinner. We sat ourselves right away and were soon greeted. Ribs were, literally, the best I have ever tasted. Smoky and tender with a flavorful sauce. My brisket was great, but it was sliced incorrectly - with the grain instead of against. Still good, but not as unctuous and tender as it could have been. Tasty sides are tops! Sweet beans, peppery collards, and a perfectly delicious sweet potato casserole. Sweet tea is legit. Staff are nice and welcoming. Hope I'll be back!

Amber D.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 6:45 and were immediately seated. Once seated the host took our drink order which arrived 10 minutes later. We never received the waters we ordered with our adult beverages. My husband flagged someone down after 30 minutes and asked them if they could take our order. 10 minutes later a server showed up and took our full order, appetizers to desserts. 2 minutes later another server showws up asking for our order, then a few minutes later a 3rd server! Where were you guys 30 minutes ago?! My husbands order arrived, delivered by the host, before our appetizers. His sides were wrong. The host let us keep the incorrect sides, BONUS! The green beans were DELICIOUS, the Mac and cheese was bland, the baked beans were sweet and yummy, The Mac and cheese bites were bLand but fried well. The pork skins were really good, seasoned well. The beef brisket was to die for. The ends were almost caramelized. The pulled pork was tender, perfectly smoked, and not overly fatty but with great flavor and spice. The banana pudding was sub par, lacking actual bananas. The host was FANTASTIC. He was basically running the place. We even tried to tip him directly, and he refused. The decor inside is super fascinating and we love that this restaurants owner is local to Charleston. The parking was street parking, but free of charge for the time of day. Neighborhood was well lit, and felt safe. Our experience here wasn't the best, but they were extremely busy, seemingly short staffed, and generally off key. We will try this establishment again and update the review if needed, because we felt as though this wasn't the norm.
