A Disappointing Experience – Reservation Mishandled on My Birthday
I had high hopes for Demencia in Vitacura, especially after they confirmed my reservation for a special occasion — my birthday. However, what followed was incredibly disappointing and speaks volumes about their front-of-house management.
On the day of my birthday, I called to confirm everything was in order. I was told, “we’ll make it happen.” Hours later, I was informed last-minute that the reservation could not be honored. No proper explanation, no alternatives offered — just a flat-out cancellation on one of the most important days to dine out.
As an American living in Chile, I can confidently say this is not the level of service I’d expect from any establishment claiming to be high-end. I’ve secured tables at top-tier restaurants in Miami and New York without this kind of amateurism.
While I can’t speak to the food or ambiance (since I never got to experience it), I can say the customer service and reservation handling were unprofessional at best. For a restaurant aiming for excellence, the basics need to be solid — and sadly, they weren’t.
