"Another entry into the Medford doughnut pantheon, Demet’s Donuts packs a punch. The classic glazed is great, the classic jelly is great, but Demet’s glazed jelly is truly a thing to behold — and eat. Go get one right now." - Terrence Doyle

Google
Staff are always super friendly and the donuts are classic and delicious :) highly recommend!

Google
We have been knowing about this place for a long time. My friend just moved here so I showed her this place, I’ve never really been in. This place not only is clean and kind, they have the BEST donut sandwhich. Their donuts are amazing- the coffee was great (especially the banana chocolate). This is our new spot forever! Thank you so much. Also- it was all only $15. We got coffee, three donuts and a sandwhich!

Google
Wonderful hidden gem of a place. Has the nostalgia of an old diner. The breakfast sandwiches were delicious, eggs were cooked perfect and bacon was crispy. The best part was the bagel, toasted perfect, crispy outside and soft inside. The coffee was good, with plenty of flavors. The large was huge. Overall price was reasonable as well. The staff were so friendly and helpful and made you feel like a regular.

Google
Love them, usually a 10 for me… but today we got a glazed and a chocolate glazed… they’re like boulders. My kids are playing catch with them. They’re literal rocks. I just don’t understand how you don’t feel how hard they are when you pick them up to put them in the bag….? I’m confused why these would be sold to someone 🤦‍♀️

Google
This place is an absolute gem. This is the type of place where locals go as part of their morning routine. I recently visited to try their donuts, and they were one of the best I had in Boston. These old school donuts were quite similar to Kane’s donuts, but much better in quality. They were extremely fluffy and airy on the inside, and the frostings and the cream had the perfect level of sweetness. Highly recommend trying them out, but make sure to bring cash and go early as possible as the donuts get sold out pretty quick.

Google
Great service and even greater donuts. The donuts here are fresh, delicious, and literally melt in your mouth. I grabbed two dozen for the office and they got rave reviews. I definitely recommend everyone try this place.

Fritz Holznagel

Google
This is a lovely old-time donut shop, and my old-time Somerville neighbor used to talk fondly about it. It’s all true except… hate to say it, but the donuts just aren’t great. Not awful, but you can find better donuts or muffins not so far away. Sorry, Demet’s!

F K

Google
Okay-ish donuts, good coffee, went in around noon. Not sure if that affected the doughiness. Half of the order were jelly or cream filled of some sort and the filling was only either a tablespoon amount and unevenly distributed. Dough was undercooked for those that had filling.

Yelp
Excellent doughnut shop for the average Joe The pricing is still fair and not outrageous. The doughnuts are actually worth the price and the other pastries are delicious! Have not tried the coffee but they can make a very good espresso

James C.

Yelp
Reason why you should go to demets Freshly made donuts in house not from a factory Go early

Eliza N.

Yelp
Excellent fresh donuts and coffee today on a rainy day. They have special Oreo donuts! Have to try.

Amanda W.

Yelp
We love Demet's doughnuts! They are classics! They have all of the yummiest doughnuts; we especially enjoyed the honey dipped and Boston cream pie. Make sure to say hi to George if you're here, he rocks!

Dennis D.

Yelp
Solid donuts and breakfast sandwich. Best near me. Nice spot to sit with the family too

David R.

Yelp
So things are looking up. Demet's is open and making donuts!! I stopped at Demet's for an extra large iced coffee which was fabulous as always. My coffee tasted great. I also had a chance to reminisce with George/ about some of our old stomping grounds back in the day. Definitely put a smile on my face great conversation. If you're in the Mystic Avenue area stop in and get yourself a dozen donuts you'll be happy that you did. Definitely a five-star establishment which is extremely hard to accomplish for a mom and pop, brick and mortar location. Kudos all around to George and the crew at Demet's. FYI... I'd actually pick up a dozen donuts if you're driving by since we're all staying in during this pandemic and just watching Netflix ha ha ha ha. Enjoy!!!

Walter P.

Yelp
Dont think it's just a donut. This great donut shop is just that, great. Still has the nostalgia of an old school donut shop staying right with the times. The donuts are hand cut and homemade. You want to feel 6 again? You need to here an old story about Medford? Need a reminder what love is really like? Try the Demet's special. it will make you feel like your a child eating a REAL donut for the first time. Listen to the crowd of good ol' boys chatting up about local sports or politics. Ask about the coffee, it's actually very good. The love they put into there donuts can only be tasted! Get there early, you will see why. Thanks to the staff helping me decide on my selection and not pushing every donut on me. You had me at old fashioned!

Rahman N.

Yelp
Who thought the best part of Boston is when the gave up Babe Ruth to my NY Yankees ... thanks btw and thanks for sandwich def need to try to quote Jorge Masvidal #super necessary

Mary M.

Yelp
Worth the drive from Canada! Visiting Boston and decided to try the best Boston filled donuts here and were they ever! We tried a few different kinds and the donuts were all great. Clearly home made and hand made from a family recipe. Owner chatted with us and made for a memorable visit. If you get a chance, get out to Demets.

P M.

Yelp
Do you know those times when your expectations fall far from reality? That's Demet's Donuts. These donuts were expensive, extremely dry, and left a yeasty after taste that left me wanting to brush my teeth. We tried both yeast and cake donuts and both came up drier than Lake Powell. The honey glaze lacked a real honey flavor, the chocolate icing and sprinkles were grocery store quality, and donuts were overcooked. Doh!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and I have no regrets! I gave them a call this morning to see if they had glazed jelly donuts (which they did, my aunt will be very pleased) and they let me know there were plenty left and that I could come right down and grab some. It's definitely a local hot spot - I live in Winthrop so it was about a 17 min drive for me (no traffic) Definitely has a very local vibe where everyone knows everyone which I think is great! I believe the man who I spoke to on the phone and who boxed the donuts was the owner and he was awesome. When a place has superb customer service they get my utmost respect especially after the pandemic took such a toll on local businesses. Highly recommend! Next time I'll have to try the coffee.

Raymond G.

Yelp
I stop in everyday on the way to work for an Iced coffee and a muffin or donut. They have been there for almost 40 years.Local favorite.

Dana S.

Yelp
Crazy good. Got there at 7 AM this morning because I couldn't sleep. The donuts are massive. Very very local clientele. But then again it was 7 AM. The donuts? Amazing. They have a different taste than others that I've had. I really enjoyed them and we will definitely be back.

Laura D.

Yelp
Pros: -Spacious inside -Lots of parking I would rank Demet's as a runner up for best Boston Cream donut in the city. Fairly fresh around 8am and solid flavor.

Robert T.

Yelp
Donuts are beyond delicious. Especially the new Maple Sugar. The coffee is fabulous! The breakfast sandwiches are mouthwatering! A must in the morning to begin your day.

Sam T.

Yelp
I am not a morning person, and prior to like a month ago, I was very...attached to a bus / train schedule to get to work every day. So, making my way to Demet's was a bit of a struggle for me. I was on my way home from an appointment one weekday on my day off and made the spontaneous decision to go in. Like others have mentioned, there's only a few spots available. This place is super "retro" and makes me think it's the "original dunkin donuts". They're local, so the one woman I spoke to was super sweet and nice. I arrived at like 2PM~ so there weren't many donuts left. I got the chocolate (cake) donut and a coffee roll? donut (which was the size of my hand for my mom as a surprise). They were delicious and better than dunkin's if I had to compare. You can't compare this place to those "hipster" / "modern" donut places like Kane's, Blackbird, etc...because I'm pretty sure this place existed way before them. I really enjoyed these donuts and they're affordable and it's the kind of place I wouldn't mind spending some time in sitting there and enjoying a donut and hot cocoa (I don't drink coffee). *CASH ONLY*

Devin B.

Yelp
This place is the donut shop of my childhood. Looks just like an old dunkies inside but don't let that fool you the donuts are far from the mass produced lame donuts dunks slings now. Pretty traditional flavors, but cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside soft and chewy on the inside. DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT EATING A GLAZED DONUT. You're welcome. Follow me on insta as I try to eat all the donuts and make pretty flowers @fleurandstitch.

Fernando S.

Yelp
Mediocre and that's me being nice. I didn't finish the donuts. they weren't fresh and defiantly not for me to say the least

Jacquelyn H.

Yelp
Stumbled on to demet's when we tried to go to another donut shop that was closed and I am so so glad we did! The donuts are fluffy and flavorful. They are so reasonably priced it would be a missed opportunity to not go here often and get at least a half dozen!

Julia F.

Yelp
Yay! I'm a fan of: It looks like an old skool Dunks. I dig it. The guy who sold me my two and a coffee looked like he never had an oz of fat on him, let alone eat a donut. How many escalades pull up in the parking lot... sheesh, chic! That it is cash only. Not many places are, but I can get down with the dollah-dollah-bills, ya'll. A-OK: Speed of service. That I was called "hun" so many times in a very short transaction. It reminds me that I am at home, oh Boston! The amount of space in this place, the options for filling your tummy's needs too. It smelled kinda like cleaning solution in there - this is cool with me, cause I like that smell, it put my sisters off a bit though...

Elly L.

Yelp
Amazing, simple donuts done right! Wonderful service every time. I really have nothing else to say--this place is the epitome of what an American donut shop should be!

Jake W.

Yelp
Amazing owner ! I drove a distance to get here and there were no more donuts left and the owner said he would put a smile on my face and make some donuts for me ! This man went approve and beyond !! Highly recommend and the good I know it's going to delicious!

Pamela C.

Yelp
This place is a "donut gem". Delicious, handmade donuts, always fresh. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. Our granddaughters love coming here for a donut and dancing to the music! Had my first bowtie donut today. OMG, absolutely delicious. Sandwiches are made with fresh eggs and made to order. Give yourself a treat once, and you will keep coming back for more!

Yuan J.

Yelp
Really solid donuts and breakfast sandwiches, but not the best I've ever had. I tried the Honey Dipped Donut as well as their Ham Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich. Maybe it was the time I went in the morning (9am), but the donut was pretty normal and not as fresh or fluffy (or warm) as some of the other donuts I've tried in the area. As for the breakfast sandwich, it was pretty simple - tasty but not exceptional. Even though they used real eggs, the sandwich only had one small slice of ham, so you could barely taste it. And in terms of flavors, this place will have all of your classics - coconut, Boston cream, chocolate, etc. I would recommend this place to people who are in a hurry or want a convenient breakfast, but it's not worth making a whole trip for.

Anna H.

Yelp
Love this donut place that has the old school family run feel to it still. Definitely a place for locals who have been around for generations, and not just for yuppies and hipsters who are gentrifying the area (though I confess I am part of that gentrification). Unlike the gourmet donut shops, this place has Bavarian creme donuts, in addition to Boston creme. Besides the excellent donut selection, they've got hearty breakfast sandwiches. My favorite is the sausage egg and cheese on a jalapeño bagel! The eggs are fresh which make a noticeable difference in taste.

Liz V.

Yelp
Wasn't at all what i was expecting dry glazed donuts . Got a coffee roll abs no cinnamon in the middle no flavor no glaZe . Just dry

Arnold H.

Yelp
Cinnamon sugar was too powdery imo (I prefer more granular cinnamon sugar) but the chocolate frosted was perfect. Very nice people, half the price of competitors. Update: hmmm be warned they're inconsistent. I'll probably go once more as a tie breaker to decide if it merits 3 or 4 stars.

Patrick C.

Yelp
I love this place. It's so special to have an old school donut place in the neighborhood. The staff are super friendly and I love the atmosphere. Just heads up it's cash only.

Charles D.

Yelp
Went to Demet's Donuts on Friday 2/11 to buy a dozen donuts for the people at work. I asked for a dozen donuts, and the counterperson pointed at the overhead sign behind her without saying a word. Not knowing what that meant, I indicated that she should proceed. Before filling my order, she rang it up and pointed the POS display toward me. The total displayed was $28.20. It was 5:45 A.M. and since I did not have time to go anywhere else, I said okay, all the time thinking I could call later in the day, after the morning rush, and clear this up since this must surely be a mistake. When I called, I spoke to someone who I assume was a manager. He informed me there was no mistake. Donuts are $2.35 each no matter how many you buy, and they no longer sell donuts by the dozen. There was no signage of any kind to explain this new practice. It was left up to the poor counterperson, to explain the new pricing, and to handle any complaints. I have been going to Demet"s for many years, often on a weekly basis, until covid hit. I had planned on resuming this practice, but that is no longer the case. The donuts are good but not $28.20 per dozen good.

Rory O.

Yelp
Just went for the first time and purchased two completely stale donuts that were hard as a rock. Never again!

Bond J.

Yelp
I'd say these are marginally better than Dunkin. If the choice were to go to this place or a Dunkin across the street, it would be Demet's all the way. But I had to go out of my way to try these donuts and would probably never return because they weren't spectacular or anything. They had the usual variety of chocolate frosted, Boston Creme, glazed, blueberry and some others. Nothing special. When I unwrapped them out of the bag for display at the office, the chocolate had melted all over the wax paper and looked unappetizing. Eek. $7.20 for a half dozen, or $1.50 each, cash only. The workers seemed friendly. I think that Union Square or Kane's produce better donuts, but of course for 3x the price.

Nikk S.

Yelp
The donuts are very good and so fresh! They taste amazing. They do run out of a few flavors by the afternoon, but that is expected and very common at most donut shops. The donuts taste very fresh and they don't have that processed flavor that you'll find at many other shops. They're also very filling but you'll want to eat them all! :)

Tyler R.

Yelp
A solid breakfast sandwich with real egg and a great croissant. Their homemade donuts are fantastic as well - beats any sort of food product dunkins puts out. You can get a breakfast sandwich, donut, and large coffee all for around $8. Personally, not a fan of the coffee, but their food is what keeps me going back.

Craig H.

Yelp
Great donuts, great people, and one of the best breakfast sandwiches around. Definitely up there with some of the better classic donuts while a few newer styles as well. Affordable and authentic.

Cathy M.

Yelp
You don't need all the frills to make exceptional donuts. Very glad to have visited, excited to go back.

Margue N.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic atmosphere and the REAL donuts Trust before you come here you never tried the real deal before! The staff is AMAZING! The decorations is super cozy and makes you feel like home. I'm so happy that we discovered this super nice, tasteful and friendly place ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ules D.

Yelp
Ok..... If you are paying for a bagel with cream cheese or butter you are paying for them to put the cream cheese or butter ON the bagel. Also they give 1 small tub for a good size bagel. Oh you want more cream cheese?? .80 for another small tub. FYI one small tub is good for one half of a bagel... Now for the worst part. They have a "bar area" with people that obviously go there daily which is great to have regulars but O M G one lady sat there yelling at the top of her lungs to every person that walked in. Peacocking to everyone that she knows these men by first name basis. She was laughing so loud that my 10 & 11 year olds asked me to please leave they can't deal with her. I kept looking at her but she kept going. Airing her dirty laundry, literally ruining our mood and morning. I will never ever go back bc of her. She needs to be banned. I wish I could Yelp review her.

Eli B.

Yelp
My favorite donut shop in the Boston area, full stop. Forget Union Square. No one should be doing that to donuts. This place has the classics done right. The stick donuts are my favorite. Actually crunchy on the outside but sweet and tender on this inside. It's an experience. Magnificent. Have also talked to the owner on a few occasions. Great guy. He once did a special order of jelly powdered donuts for a friend for Veterans D0ay.

Tiff D.

Yelp
Breakfast sandwich made with fresh eggs? And hashbrown ON it? WHAT?! Cinnamon Hazelnut coffee? WHAT?! MMM HMM! Delicious.

Danjackie L.

Yelp
Not impressed by the donuts. Went in around 11am on a weekday and the donuts didn't taste fresh. I expected them to be fresher. Pleasant service. The plain croissants are pretty good.

Sam L.

Yelp
this is the mom n pop style of place I grew up going to as a kid in CT before the Dunkin boom REAL EGG in the sandwiches solid coffee cheaper than dunkin

Matthew M.

Yelp
Old school, no frills and friendly staff. Donuts are a step above the norm, love their breakfast sandwich options (they only use fresh eggs, which I've seen prepare). Perhaps I'm spoiled because this place is a 30 socond walk from my house. It's nice to have a local donut shop with friendly staff.

June L.

Yelp
Been here twice in early mornings (before 8). The staff are friendly, patient (as I am trying to pick out a whole dozen and can't decide) ... the Donuts are two kinds - the traditional, and the kind that tastes almost "cake" like ... both very good. The cake-like ones are particularly good and certainly different from grocery store donuts. Cash only. The whole family likes them ... and a dozen is usually gone in the same day after it gets home. Thumbs up!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite local donut place. They make all their donuts from scratch and it really feels like a family run place. Go for the "extreme" breakfast sandwich.... bacon egg and cheese on a bagel with a hash brown. :)

R V.

Yelp
I have given this place so many chances! The only thing that I like better than donuts are donuts that are within easy running distance of my apartment. There's nothing sweeter than to roll into a donut joint, covered in sweat and chest-a-heavin', and bask in the reptilian glare of 13 67-year-old regulars while you pant out "GIMME A BUTTERNUT AND THAT THING WITH ALL THE JIMMIES." Except that thing with all the jimmies, an old-fashioned chocolate frosted, has no soul. Much like most of what you get here. It's fine for some old Italian dude in a peaked cap looking for his grease fix, but us young whipper-snappers and our damn fixation on things like "some semblance of sweetness or actual chocolate flavor" will probably want to whip our snaps elsewhere. I don't know how they make such world-weary, beaten-down old-fashioned donuts. If I had to guess, I'd say they bake up huge batches once a month in an industrial oven somewhere in the third world, then just dunk a handful in cold grease each morning before dumping them out on the counter. Which, come to think of it, is probably the actual Dunkin Donuts business model. The two-tone glazed cruller and the butternut are the standouts, but both are done better just about anywhere that's not Dunks. If you believe the label, their blueberry cake is apparently world-famous, presumably for its insidious sogginess and absence of anything berry-like. At least the glaze is kinda sweet. Also, I should probably have taken off an extra star for their Honeydew-esque attempt to trick unsuspecting bystanders by precisely aping Dunkies' color scheme and iced coffee window stickers. Sad times!

Anna B.

Yelp
Best donuts and breakfast sandwiches anywhere. They make the egg and cheese sandwiches fresh every time in minutes and they've perfected how to toast a croissant for the sandwich. If there's no parking just block in people at the nail salon they're there all day now lol.

Dennis M.

Yelp
A step above Dunkin Donuts. I was in search of a good donut place as Linda's donuts in Belmont was closed for vacation. Should of gone to Tewksbury instead. The trip was not worth the donuts. Dry and not much taste. The only decent thing I got was ice coffee. Will not be back again

Connor A.

Yelp
Excellent donuts and breakfast sandwiches. Real eggs and cheese. Always go for the bacon extreme breakfast sandwich with the hash browns.

Jay T.

Yelp
Absolutely the best donuts (homemade in the back), real egg on their breakfast sandwiches. Awesome stuff, with the best hot or iced coffee. It's old school comfort food. The owner is always willing to add new items to the menu and ask their customers opinions. The staff is top notch, super polite and friendly. The tables are always clean and the long lines in the AM go by really fast. That is efficiency at its best. If you are in the area, do not pass up a chance to visit Demets. Ask about their Demets Special, its the best donut around.

Mark D.

Yelp
Their donuts and breakfast sandwiches are so good! The only reason they have 4 and not 5 stars is that they only take cash as a form of payment.
