The Best Places to Drink Along Malt Row in Ravenswood | Eater Chicago

"Demo Brewing Company opened its Malt Row taproom in March, pouring beers in a garage where the door opens when the weather is nice. The decor is basic, with tables set with bright yellow chairs positioned around the fermentors and kegs. The taps offer a regularly rotating selection of lagers, ales, and pilsners, with wine and hard seltzer for those who don’t like beer." - Sam Nelson

I love that this brewery opened earlier this year in Malt Row. Not that the area lacks beer, but more breweries are always better! This one is very inviting on a quiet street with plenty of parking. It's a very easy place to just pop in and have some tasters or a quick full pour. The MO here seems to brew smaller batches that rotate frequently, which I love so that I can try a variety of beers and styles. They also always have a hard seltzer on tap, and I haven't had a bad one yet. In fact, I haven't had a bad beer here at all! The staff is always friendly, there is plenty of space to sit, there are board games to play, and there is a merch area with some cool-looking stuff. I will definitely keep coming here as along as I can to support the business, as long as they keep doing what they're doing!

Great find. I saw it on Google maps when checking directions to another very nearby brewery and wanted to check it out. Did not disappoint! It’s a little grittier than your typical Chicago brewery. Great beers and service. Seating is basically in the brew house. Parking lot available on the weekends. Near a EL stop. It’s a smaller place but it’s cozy. I will be back for sure.

Casual, relaxed atmosphere. Great variety of beer, seltzers & wine. They also have a couple non alcoholic beers. In addition to a large bar with extremely comfortable bar stools, they have tables & chairs and a comfy sitting area with a couch. They do not serve food, but you’re welcome to bring food or have it delivered. And kids & pets are welcome. Nice apparel choices…shirts, beanies, beer glasses. Another nice touch is that they have hooks to hang purses under the bar as well as outlets for charging phones. Parking lot behind the brewery. I definitely recommend Demo Brewing Company.

Google
Such a fun new spot! Love the industrial yet cozy chic ambiance, staff are awesome, and a great variety of beers & seltzers and even wine on tap. Lots of great games too and plenty of space for groups. Looking forward to warmer weather & the big open garage doors. Can’t wait to come back!

A very nice and cool local brewery with minimalistic style and a SNES to play with. And they do flights!

Demo Brewing Company in Ravenswood is a solid spot for craft beer lovers. I spent about $15 on a 16oz "Al & Fils" juicy pale ale and a 10oz "Secondhand Store" raspberry ale. The "Al & Fils" had a nice tropical fruit vibe, while the raspberry ale was tart and refreshing. The taproom has a chill, laid-back atmosphere, perfect for hanging out with friends. Only reason it's not a full 5 stars is the limited food options—would be great to have some snacks or bites to go with the beers. Still, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Small neighborhood spot that is dog friendly and has good brews! Constantly demoing new beers. They also have games and allow outside food. Sue Me Kolsch, Juicy Belma, and Lemonder seltzer have been my favorites so far.

Google
Great place, but he had a bad interaction with the owner. I'm a Latino so I stand out on the crowd so he accused me of smoking indifferent his establishment, first of all I don't even smoke and there is other ppl with me but for you to accuse me only cause I'm Latino that was crazy you lost a few customer so to your assumption. It's so sad cause I was having a great time.

Yelp
During the Ravenswood Art Walk we stopped, and the place was packed, but we found a few seats at the bar. There is indoor and outdoor seating , and they are dog friendly. They have been open for several month , and a new addition to Malt Row. They offer a selection of beers and seltzers. My husband tried the Mexican lager and Ambrosia. He enjoyed both and each had unique flavors. Will visit again when in the area.

Yelp
I discovered this place from some previous Yelp reviews. The last time I was in the area, it was a workday, so I didn't get the chance to check out. This time, it was a Saturday, so I gave them a try! The beer I tried was decent. My husband tried on a seltzer, which was super tasty. They offer different sizes of their pours, which is nice. They have beer wine, seltzer, and non alcohol options. They sell some snack items. The staff was friendly. Give them a try if you are in the area.

Yelp
This is a great place, and I want it to succeed. Unobtrusively tucked into a neighborhood, just off Ravenswood. Rolled up here last weekend for some beers and a devastating JENGA tournament. Great beer - I look forward to trying more of these guys' offerings as they grow and develop. Also anxiously awaiting when those garage doors open and the patio out front is rocking. Lots of families with kids hang out here. Didn't bother me that much.

Yelp
Had a great time at Demo last night on their opening day! We love to try new beers, so I always appreciate a brewery that offers flights and small pours. It's a good sized space for the neighborhood. Might get full on the weekends but overall will likely always have a seat open when you want one. I hope this will help them stay open for a long time! They have great merch that would be fun to wear. Looks pretty cozy! Both hard seltzers were really good. I for see those being very popular this summer: Rose Malone + Lemonder. I also enjoyed Young Cruiser (golden), Low Visibility, and Tea Goblin. You really can't go wrong. Bar stools were comfy and service was good! Looking forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
Small brewery that just opened in the Uptown/Ravenswood area. It's near Begyle/Dovetail/Koval so it'd be convenient to do a crawl with some/all of those places. They have around 10 or so beers on tap, most of the major styles. They have 2 tea-based IPAs, which you don't usually see. One was better than the other. They also have seltzers and wine, for those that aren't too into beer. It's located right in the middle of a residential area, so you don't get a whole lot of car/traffic noise. They have big garage doors that they'll lift up when the weather's nice, so you can get a nice breeze in. You can bring your own food, or they sell a few snacks at the bar. Bartenders were all nice. The beers weren't the BEST, but I def liked the vibe, and would gladly go check them out again whenever they have some new beers on tap.

Yelp
Very good beer, friendly staff and love it that they allow dogs. I've enjoyed all the beers I have tried here on 3 visits.

Yelp
The beers were very tasty. Some very interesting flavors, but all subtle and really well done. Nothing over the top. Also, bar seats are super comfy and staff was very friendly and attentive.
