The 38 Essential Milan Restaurants

"Among the steady flow of new avant-garde pizzerias, Denis Lovatel’s restaurant is a front-runner, with some of the most unique pies in Italy. After reaching celebrity status as a second-generation pizzaiolo in the Dolomites, Lovatel opened this location in Milan, which has become a go-to for local chefs. The paper-thin crust of his “mountain pizza” is dusted with a proprietary, umami-forward mix of dried mushrooms and wild herbs, and the vegetable-heavy toppings are exquisitely composed. An impressive list of natural wines and Champagne join biodynamic grappas and amaros infused with Alpine herbs." - Elizabeth Jones, Angelica Frey

Food overall were delicious. Nice plating and presentations. The pizzas all shared a thin and crispy crust. Seasonings are on point. Nothing tasted too heavy or salty. Some of the toppings are surprisingly good which I did not expect.

Denis Pizza is consistently an excellent choice for lovers of thin, croccante-style pizza. I’ve visited about five times, and each experience has been just as satisfying as the last. The dough is light and crispy, providing the perfect base for their wide variety of toppings. You’ll find all the classic favorites here, but what really sets Denis Pizza apart are their creative fusion options inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Alto Adige. These unique combinations offer something new and exciting while still honoring Italian roots. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the quality remains top-notch. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Denis Pizza is well worth a visit.

The pizza was excellent and delicious. The dough was very thin but not at all soggy in the center as happens at other places sometimes. We also liked the fried vegetable and the tiramisu was amazing too. Our waitress was friendly. The only criticism is the manager/head waiter who didn’t speak a single word to us after we spoke English. He clearly can understand English and even if he doesn’t speak English himself it would be more polite to greet or thank people in Italian rather then pretending to be mute.

This is one of the best pizzas we’ve eaten! We ordered from the “classics” part of the menu. One margarita and one pizza picante. They had incredible flavours even though they had few ingredients🍕This is a place you think about going back to right when you leave! We had tiramisu for dessert as well, and it did not disappoint. 5 stars!🌟

If you’re craving awesome pizza in Milan, this place won’t disappoint! The crust is light and crispy, the toppings are super fresh, and the flavors are on point. Whether you go for a classic Margherita or something more creative, it’s all delicious. Chill vibes and friendly staff make it even better. Definitely worth a visit! You need to make a reservation though

Pizza were okay. The thin crust pizza was perfect not so filling. Althea fungi wasn't really what we expected. Overall is good.

Turned up just after 12:30 with no booking. It started getting busy very quick. The Margarita pizza was great. It was a very thin base and hollow crispy crust. Would order it again! The peach salad is a winner. The bread with mountain butter is so salty… but so good

Pizza with a twist! An interesting concept featuring excellent ingredients served on a dough very similar to lavash. The result is light and crispy, offering a unique take on traditional pizza. However, my pizza was served lukewarm, which took away from the experience, even though the quality of the ingredients on top was excellent. A creative option for those looking to try something different in Milan.
